Please, review this story! I am not one for begging for them, but this is my first REAL story produced…All by myself.
Now, without further ado, here is my second most prized possession.
Zoom. Zoom.
That's all you heard when he went by.
Cry. Cry.
That's all you did when he said "goodbye."
Laugh. Laugh.
That's all you did when she walked by.
Ignore. Ignore.
That's all you did, and it made her want to die.
~~
"Oof!"
"Watch where you're going next time, bitch!" cried the angry man, an amused grin on his face as he saw the girl on the ground. "Or else I'll haveta rape you," he snickered and walked away.
"Yes," muttered the girl who swiftly got her things together and scurried off to class, lest she be late. It was a usual routine for Kagome. The young woman would always be pushed or shoved while she was passing from class to class because people wanted her to be late. "The `Good Girl'," she whispered under her breath, holding her head up high. Ever since she moved into this godforsaken town, she had been teased and ridiculed by her classmates because she did all of her school work. Sighing softly, she entered her classroom, attempting to forget this morning's incident.
"Oh man, that was an awesome shove, boss" snickered Hojou, one of the members of The Demons.
"Yeah, you should have seen the look on her face! She looked like she was gonna cry!" added another member, Kouga.
"Yeah, yeah," the gang leader replied nonchalantly; his silver locks casing his face from the rest of the group.
"She has a nice ass," mentioned Mirkou. "This is why I love this school! All the girls are required to wear skirts, and since we have the principal wrapped around our finger, we can have her change the rules for the dress code. Now that we have the skirts to six inches below the waist, I can view any girls' ass." He smirked, obviously proud of his power.
"Hell yes! Girls are only good for two things and two things only," shouted Kouga.
"Sex and homework!" They all cried out in unison and toppled over laughing, entering their homeroom.
"So if you substitute five plus `a' in g of x equals ten minus twenty, what do you get?" The math teacher asked the class, only to be greeted with grunts and groans. "Anyone? Come on now class, we worked on this yesterday!"
"A equals negative five," answered Kagome, tired of pretending not to know the answer. She sighed for what must have been the hundredth time that day, awaiting the expected applause of laughter.
And she wasn't disappointed; the usual pandemonium of mocking and bickering flew towards her. `Oh god, I can't wait until school ends,' Kagome thought.
"Alright, see you tomorrow then," said Inuyasha, shaking hands with Miroku.
"Yeah man, and don't forget to turn that book in! You have two days until the teacher sends you a notice…In class!!" Cried Miroku, he was the only guy Inuyasha ever told secrets to; after all, he was his best friend since they were in the cradle.
"Shh man! Not too loud or people will hear you," scorned Inuyasha, "If people know I'm smart, it'll ruin my reputation, dumbass!"
"Oh yeah. That's so stupid, Inu." Miroku rolled his eyes, "People won't hate you! It will just show that you're a leader by nature! Most leaders know a lot of shit!"
"Yeah!? Like who?"
"Uhh…Like Merderf."
"You mean Meredith? "
"Uhh…I think so."
"You stupid pervert! He's a poet! How did he possible show any kind of leadership skills?"
"Uhh…"Miroku grinned sheepishly, "Well, both of you guys tried to hide your background and who and what you really are."
Inuyasha glared but was speechless for a moment. "Wow, pervert, this is the first time that you've ever shown that you pay attention during class. I'm kind of proud of ya." Inuyasha snickered and walked off to the place where he spent most of his evenings, in the library.
Inuyasha walked into the library and bumped into a table.
"Ouch, stupid table! When did this thing get placed here?" He mused to himself. "Feh, oh well, not like it matters." No one was usually ever there around this time and it was a big library so the chances of seeing anyone were limited. He smirked inwardly to himself, taking a big whiff of the new air around him, and walked over to his corner of the library.
.
.
.
`Yes, school is over and done with for today!' Inwardly cried Kagome, `Now all I need to do is return this book and I'm out of here.' The raven haired girl walked swiftly and quietly to the library. Once she got there, she couldn't resist one last sweep through of the books for the day. Before she knew it, however, it was already late out. She stopped reading her book by Anne Rice to check her watch. She gasped. She had been there for three hours! Kagome was about to get up and leave when she heard a loud "thud" and some grumbles. She paused, unsure of who would come to the library at this time. `When does this library close? Maybe it's the librarian locking up the library! Oh no! I need to get out!' With that last thought Kagome took her new found book, her school supplies and headed towards the door.
Just as she was about the reach the door, she saw someone who was not the librarian. She stood, wide eyed at who was before her. "Inuyasha," she whispered.
Inuyasha stopped walking and looked around. He was sure no one was here but he thought he heard his name. Inuyasha looked around once more and concluded that it was just his imagination getting the better half of him. As Inuyasha approached his destination, he felt someone, or rather, something following him. He rolled his eyes, must be Miroku laying a game on him.
"I know your there. Why don't you just come out of your hiding spot and face me like A MAN," Inuyasha huffed out his chest to prove his point. Now was Miroku's cue to say "I am A MAN," and come out dancing ballet; it was an old tradition that was invented back when they were still very young. (Don't ask!) It never came. Instead what came to him was the trembling body of a young woman.
"I…I'm so sorry." Kagome bowed down, forming a perfect ninety degree angle. "I didn't mean to…ahh…intrude on your time but I was, like, all scared when I heard this thumping noise and I thought it was the librarian closing up the library so I rushed over here but I saw you and I got scared so I just followed you," Kagome took a deep breath and fell to the floor, crying.
Inuyasha tensed up. `Ok, so I got caught by this girl and now she is crying right in front of me. Don't panic, Inuyasha, don't panic…Fuck that! She is crying because of me!!' Inuyasha rushed to the girl and tried to quiet her sobs down by telling her to "be quiet." Unfortunately, that only managed to make her cry louder. Inuyasha did the only thing he thought would work, he picked her up in his arms and rocked her back and forth, like his mother use to do to him.
"It's OK, I won't do anything to you, I promise. Just please, please stop crying," Inuyasha cooed. When her cries turned into light sobs, he relaxed a bit. "Now, why are you in here at this hour?" Inuyasha was surprised at how his voice sounded, it seemed like he cared for this girl. This girl whom he would always trip in the hallway just to get good laughs from his friends…Could it be that he cared about her?
"I came to return a book but I got distracted. I was reading…"Kagome paused in her speech. She had been reading an Anne Rice book! Anne Rice, queen of the erotica books; before her vampires came her sex! Kagome blushed and looked down. "Well, I was just reading and I lost sense of time. I was going to leave soon, but I heard, what I am assuming was, you bumping into a chair or something. And I'm sorry I broke down like that. It's just that…That, you scare me."
He smirked a bitter sweet smirk; he loves this girl, for that is what he is calling this newfound feeling of his, and she was crying because of him. Kagome was about to say more, afraid that he was going to do something to her, but was cut off when Inuyasha put his lips to hers.
A feeling of ecstasy washed over both of them. Neither of them had ever kissed someone on the lips before. Inuyasha had fooled around, but kissing on the lips was never necessary. Why he kissed her is still a mystery to him. Kagome had only read about first kisses and how they were suppose to mean something and that they usually lead to hot and steamy sex, but she wasn't about to let her mind wander.
Crash into my arms
I want you
You don't agree
But you don't refuse
I know you
It was Inuyasha whose hands began to wander all around Kagome's body and it was Inuyasha who broke the kiss. `Too much of a good thing,' he mused. He stroked Kagome's soft cheek and told her he had to go. He let go of her almost reluctantly and walked away with a sly grin on his face.
Kagome sat there, stunned. "That is quite a side to you, Inuyasha," she said aloud to no one in particular. "You scare the shit out of me, make me cry, kiss me, then leave. All within what seemed like five minutes!" She looked at her watch again and, to her amazement, saw that almost a whole hour that had past. Kagome slowly got her things together, pinching herself every now and then to see if what had happened was real. Just before she was about to leave the library, Kagome looked back, touched her lips and smiled to herself. She looked into the building one last time, as if leaving it would confirm that the Inuyasha she just saw would never return. Her last words before departing were lines from To Althea,from Prison,by Richard Lovelace.
"Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty."
When Kagome walked out of the school, she felt like a different person. She felt like she had left the old her in the library, lingering on the lips of Inuyasha. Past experiences of horrible incidences completely vanished from, what seemed like, her life. Skipping home, Kagome smiled, and for the first time in her life, she was anxious for a new day of school to start.
Later on that day, at Miroku's house, Inuyasha was blushing wildly while his best friend laughed at him.
"I can't believe that you kissed her!" Miroku said, almost flabbergasted.
I can't believe I told you," groaned Inuyasha, slamming his head into his hands.
"Well, there was a bit of persuasion on my part," Mirkou smirked, "what can I say, I'm just so great at manipulating people."
"That much credit I can give you, however, you got me at my weakest hour! Had you not called me, I would have gone home, thought about it, and then gained my composure, ready for tomorrow." Inuyasha ran his hands through his hair; he just didn't get his actions. `Why had I kissed her?' he thought, `why do I regret leaving her?' He shook these thoughts from his head, he needed to go home now. "Alright, I'm out of here, man. I need time to just…think."
"Sure man, but I don't know what you need to think about, I mean, it'll probably never happen again. You'll go about school, totally ignoring her, and that will crush her. I bet she's thinking of you and that kiss right now, you were her first kiss, after all."
"And how would you know that!? Also, it might happen again." Inuyasha retorted.
"Dude, my little sister's G.I. Joe gets more action than that girl." Miroku grinned, "And besides it's not like you're about to let everyone know that you like Kagome! Shit man, you don't even let them know that you're smart! How could you possibly sum up the courage to let the whole school know your feelings?"
Inuyasha was dumbfounded. Was he that weak? He had never thought of it like that. He had to get out before he agreed with Miroku.
"Yeah, well, Kagome was my first kiss!" Inuyasha hollered, and then stormed off, cursing himself for telling Miroku another embarrassing secret.
The next morning, Kagome woke up with a huge smirk on her face, the cause? Why, it was because of the very erotic dream she had of Inuyasha, they were in a library, kissing. She shivered at how realistic it felt. Then it hit her. It was no dream! She touched her lips and she could feel the passion. Kagome blinked, how was that possible? Regardless, she cannot act different today. She had to pretend and act as though it never happened. `Besides,' she thought aloud, `he probably just did it to shut me up.' She sighed and shook her head, knowing deep down inside that it was more than just a spur of the moment type of deal. However, she needed some type fuel to burn off of, or else she was going to walking around school with the goofy-looking smirk.
At school, Kagome expected the customary routine to continue; after all, even if Inuyasha did care about the kiss, that wouldn't stop him from continuing up his ritual, he had to look good in front of the boys. The bell sounded off for the students to get to their classes. As usual, while she was walking towards her homeroom, she heard the all too familiar snickers of The Demons. This time, Inuyasha or Miroku wasn't there, so it was Kouga who "accidentally" ran into her.
"Watch it little girl," snickered Kouga. He saw Kagome self-consciously pull down her skirt, and he licked his lips. Kagome saw his obvious stare and backed up, deciding on walking around and risk being late to her class than to feel that gaze again. `Inuyasha is a better pusher,' she found herself thinking to herself, `wait! No! I don't want anyone to push me!' She shook her head for what seemed like the billionth time that morning.
"Uh-oh," sneered Hojou, "she looks scared, why don't we show her the true meaning of what being scared is, eh Kouga?" Kagome was starting to get really scared; she mentally cursed herself for deciding to wear scented perfume today.
"You know what Hojou, why don't you go to class and I'llteach her a lesson she'll never learn from any of her classes," grinned Kouga, now eyeing Kagome as if she were wearing only her lingerie.
"Aww, no fun, man! Why do you always get the girls first?" muttered the Hojou.
"Got a problem with that!?" snarled Kouga this time, when he saw Hojou sink back and start to walk of, muttering things under his breath, Kouga took another glance towards Kagome, who was trying to slowly back away more, and rushed to her.
"Ouch!" she screamed, feeling more frightened than pain now that Kouga had now trapped her against the wall. She started to kick and try and push her way out of her current predicament; however, once she felt his cold lips roughly trail up her neck to her lips, and his hand wander from her thigh to the inside of her skirt, Kagome froze. She became rigid with fear and she could no longer try and wail out, her body gave in but her mind went wild! Her body was submitting to the torture, she had to endure this either way; she might as well just surrender and let this boy strip her of her the remaining pride she has. `Please come for me, Inuyasha, please, I need you to rescue me,' Kagome thought.
"Stop that, Kouga," said Miroku, coming out of the corner he was hiding in, following suit was Inuyasha. Kagome sighed, glanced at Inuyasha, and quickly ran off to the bathroom. She didn't want to be here for this and she certainly was in no mood to face Inuyasha, especially after the fact that HE didn't stop Kouga and that HE was right there all along.
Miroku saw the look Kagome gave Inuyasha before she ran off, and he sighed. He didn't know why he sighed; it wasn't like he cared about Kagome. No, it was Inuyasha he cared about, and if Inuyasha cared about this strange girl, then he cared about her, too. Or at least, that's what he'll tell himself. Miroku turned towards Kouga and gave him a stern look. "When Inuyasha founded this gang, there was never anything mentioned about raping conscience women, especially ones who have brains and know law."
"Miroku!" Inuyasha screamed, he couldn't contain his anger at Miroku's words.
"What Inuyasha? You gonna say something?" Miroku shot back. He had no idea where this newfound boldness came from, but for some reason, he just couldn't stand the thought of Kagome going out with someone who couldn't defend his woman.
"Yeah, Dog, what has got you all wired up? I mean, it's just Kagome. I'm sure you've thought of doing that to her. I just did it." Kouga looked proud, just the thought of Kouga's hands on Kagome made Inuyasha's blood boil even more. He couldn't contain his anger any longer…He was mad at himself for not protecting or rescuing Kagome from the clutches of Kouga. He was mad at Kouga for touching her; Inuyasha couldn't keep it in. He had to vent on someone…So why not one of the links of his problems?
"Actually, yes Miroku, I am going to say something." Miroku smirked at his friend's reaction. `About time,' he thought.
"Wait, why do you sound all serious now? And what's with the whole "actually" word? Since when do you know how to compose a sentence?"
Inuyasha glared and ignored Kouga's comment. "Kouga, I do not want to ever see you trying to fondle Kagome, do you understand me? It is a crime for a guy to sexually touch someone. Kagome is a smart enough woman to understand that and, unlike all the other girls you've molested, she isn't afraid of you as much." Inuyasha smirked at Kouga's dropped jaw. "As for your earlier comment, I think I'm in love with Kagome. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go attend class to further expand my already vast amount of knowledge." Inuyasha started to walk away, but then he stopped, turning his head towards Kouga a bit. "Oh, and if you even think about defying my orders as your leader, I'll castrate you." And with that, Inuyasha continued his stroll towards class, leaving a stunned Miroku and a speechless Kouga."
"Wow, that is the most impressive thing Inuyasha has ever said…It makes me want to respect him more, too bad he just practically scolded me, though." Kouga finally said.
"I know exactly what you mean, man. Just imagine though, Inuyasha has been bottling that line up inside him for so long now…I wonder how many times he muttered it to himself late at night." Mirkou thought.
"Judging by the way he looked? I'd say at least a few years." Kouga and Miroku laughed at Inuyasha's own expense as they made their way to their second period class, after all, the bell was going to ring soon.
..
..
..
The day had finally passed for her. Kagome was now free to go home…Well, she kept on telling herself that she wanted to go home, but she really wanted to go back to the library, despite the fact that she couldn't stand to face Inuyasha now.
"Here goes nothing," she muttered under her breath as she opened the doors to the old library. Kagome walked into the library and stopped to take in the smell of the place; it was an idiosyncrasy of hers. Once she got a hefty whiff of the place, she made her way to her usual spot, ignoring the now constant nagging in the back of her mind that her task at hand was inadequate. The only thing left to do was wait patiently for Inuyasha to come to her and explain himself.
Inuyasha was pacing to and fro in front of the library. He had successfully managed to ruin his "dumb streak," as he liked to call it, and made it known to Kouga, who eventually will tell the school, that he is, in fact, very smart. Now, all he had to do was state his case to Kagome, the one to whom this whole ordeal is for. After what seemed like an hour worth of pacing, Inuyasha decided on stepping into the library to apologize to Kagome and tell her he loved her. "That shouldn't be so hard, right?" He groaned and walked into his future.
When he stepped inside he saw Kagome resting her head on the table. He suddenly felt guilty. "I made he wait too long," he walked closer to her sleeping form and gingerly touched her cheek. She was so warm; her cheek was so soft. A new feeling washed over his entire being; he wanted to touch her again, and so he did, this time running his hand silently through her hair. Then, she awoke before he could get any more ideas.
"Inu…Inuyasha?" She groggily said, rubbing her eyes. "I'm sorry I slept, I just felt so-" she was cut off by Inuyasha's finger pressed slightly against her lips.
"No, let me do the talking, the explaining, and the apologizing." Kagome was about to say something again but Inuyasha mouthed the word "shh" and she obeyed. "Sorry, Kagome, but this time, let me do the talking. Kagome nodded her head and Inuyasha smiled. "Good, thank you.
"Now, I am so very sorry for not saving you earlier this morning." Inuyasha looked into Kagome's eyes and immediately saw the pain, his insides clenched at the hurtful expression that was shown on her face. "I am a coward with too much pride sometimes…But I've gotten better!"
"How is that?" Kagome blurted out, needing someway to vent out her feelings.
At that, Inuyasha grinned, "I told Kouga to never touch you again, and that if he did, you were going to file lawsuit on him for sexual harassment and that I'd castrate him on top of it."
"Hahahaha!" Kagome roared with laughter, just the thought of Inuyasha making threats to Kouga made her giggle, but the fact that Inuyasha mentioned castration to Kouga made her come near to tears and, before she knew it, into Inuyasha's arms.
Inuyasha's heart nearly stopped when Kagome jumped into his arms, he was afraid he was never going to get a chance to do this again. Now that he got a second chance, he wasn't going to let her go anytime soon. He pulled Kagome closer to him and took in her wonderful, unique scent. He couldn't hold it in any longer. He had to do something before it was too late, seize the moment!
"Kagome, I love you!" Inuyasha said aloud, causing Kagome's heart beat to kick a notch.
~~~
Ohh man, I sure do hope you guys hate me.
Hahaha
And, just so you know, this story has been brewing up in my mind for about five months…It has been brewing there for some time now because I lack the time to finish it. However, review for this and I am sure to have more than enough motivation to continue and write the second chapter.
