Chapter One

Kagome glared at the HELP WANTED sign on the wall of a restaurant she walked passed. I do need a job, she thought. She walked in reverse so she could go into the restaurant.

Kagome pulled on the handle of the door to open it. It was locked.Damn. She thought. I'll stop by tomorrow after school.

When Kagome returned home, her mom and Sota were waiting for her by the door. “Kagome, Yuka and Sango called.” Her mom said. “Letter from dad!” Sota shoved the piece of paper in Kagome's face. In her family, everything was revolving around Kagome. She hated that.

Kagome snatched the letter from Sota and ran upstairs to her bedroom. It was all blue with dolphins on the walls. Somehow that gave her peace in a world that is constantly changing and moving everywhere.

Why'd dad write me a letter and not Sota? She opened the sheet of paper and read:

Dear Kagome,

I miss you and Sota dearly, just not your mom or jii-chan. Anyways, I would like you to bring your brother and come visit me. I also would like you to meet my apprentice who I think you'd like (yes Kagome, dear, he's a boy).

Dad

Kagome sat the letter on her desk and picked up her phone. 555 6583, she dialed. The phone rang for a moment, and then someone picked up. “Hey Kags!” said an excited voice at the other end. “Hi Yuka. What's up? Why'd ya call?” said Kagome. “Come to the movies with Ayumi, Eri, Sango and me!” Kagome smiled. “Kay! See ya Yuka.” She replied as she hung up the phone.Guess Sango called for the same thing.

Kagome grabbed her jean jacket and purse off the bed and walked downstairs. “Mom, I'm goin' to the movies with some friends.” She said. “Remember your curfew is 11:45 and its 6:02 now! Have fun!”

Kagome walked out the door and hopped into her BMW. She put in the key and turned the ignition. She heard the familiar sound of the car starting and drove off.

When she pulled up into the parking lot of the theater, Sango was waiting for her, standing by her luxurious corvette. “Hey Kags!” she squealed, running to Kagome's car. “Hey Sango.” Kagome got out of the car. “Where's everyone else?” Sango put her arm around her friend. “Inside buying the tickets.”

Sango chatted about senseless things as they walked into the theater. They both giggled talking about what Brad Pitt would look like if he had red eyes and elf ears. “He'd look like this friend I have,” Sango started. “Kagura. She goes to our school, ya know.” Kagome played around with her hoop earring. “I've seen her around.”

Three perky girls strolled up to Kagome and Sango. “Hey guys!” One of them said. “Hi Yuka, Eri, Ayumi.” Sango and Kagome said in unison. Eri and Ayumi waved. “Did you get the tickets?” Kagome asked. “Uh-huh.” Ayumi said.

After the group watched Roll Bounce, they commented on how cut Bow Wow is with an afro. “Personally I wouldn't mind havin' a lil chocolate.” Eri said. “Me either.” Sango replied. They all giggled loudly.

Since Sango could only bring Yuka home in her coupe corvette, Kagome brought Eri and Ayumi. “Why don't we go out to the diner and grab a bite?” Eri suggested. “Damn you guys. I gotta go visit my dad.” Kagome said with disgust.

They pulled up in front of Eri's house and Kagome dropped off both she and Ayumi. “Bye Kagome! Call us when you get back! Maybe you, Sango and Yuka can stay the night!” Eri called. “Maybe,” Kagome replied.

Kagome drove in silence until she turned on the radio and Itazura no Kiss blasted out the stereos threatening to blow Kagome's ear drum. “Itazura no kiss shite,” Kagome sang. But before she could say something else, she arrived at her father's. “I can't believe I'm actually going to do this.”
