Invader Zim
Gaz’s Spotlight!
~.~
Gaz couldn’t believe what she was reading it had been a few days since she went to the library to raid it for it’s knowledge when she stumbled on a treasure trove. An entire set of journals that Chronicled a young Irken Princess who when born, knew she was destined for something great as her father had told her about he and her mother had met when the previous queens life cycle was near a close. She was to be princess when she grew tall enough and how her hopes and dreams of being a great queen would hopefully come to fruition. How she waited patiently and trusted her mother knew the right thing for her to do. Then the science she invented and how she had helped the colony thrive and live longer. Her experiments helped rid the colony of infectious disease and fungus that often would kill them in large numbers forcing quarantines of certain areas of the nest. Halfway through the second journal it was apparent what had happened. It spoke of how her mother ruined her and tried to kill her in her greed.

I would have died except in a moment of brilliance and my mind filled with vengeance I invented something magnificent, the PAK. The device and my own will allowed me to survive not only the installation but the pain and loss of my vital reproductive organ. I left the nest in secret so none knew that I was still alive and survived out in the wilds until it was time. I returned to the nest to find it nearly barren save for a few members left who avoided me as I strode inside my long robes flowing out behind me as I reached the cloistral chamber unhindered. It too was barren save for the handmaidens, it was almost time I would see for myself what my mother’s greed had done to her and her mate. I walked around a bit only to find my father laying in another chamber, his breathing was ragged, he was dying. He looked at me with sad eyes as if he knew his time had come, did he really believe mother? Was he looking at me feeling guilty? I didn’t care, he reached for me but I laughed. I went to find mother then heading back to the cloistral chamber to find her scrambling towards me. She recognized me instantly, it was obvious she hadn’t expected to find me alive. She accused me of doing something to her mate but I already knew they were doomed it was only a matter of time.
I followed my arrogant mother as she went to her mate. He was somehow still alive but as I stood there and watched their sickeningly sweet goodbyes I saw the light fade from his eyes and not long after my mother collapsed as well. If only she hadn’t been so greedy and short-sight our people could have survived. And that is when it came to me, I grabbed their bodies and hualed them to my workshop and began to draw goo from their bodies. I was forced to use crude methods with only handmaidens to help me every day another of the colony died. I had to have the remaining bring me metals from the ground and build mechanical sentinels to replace those who parished. Finally I had a mini army of what I decided to call SIR’s. These SIR’s began to help with my research and soon I had a lab to work in. It wasn’t enough, eventually I had to come up with something new something better a Brain so I started to design such a device for the SIR’s to build while I continued my research.
One day I finally was able to complete it. A perfect clone of my mother and her mate. I allowed them to grow and to mate but I kept them separate, never again would I allow them to plot together. She had to be controlled, they all did. As time went on I noticed things small things, the handmaidens of the previous generation were all nearly dead at this time but new handmaidens had taken up the mantle from the perfect clone I had saved our race and forced them all to wear my PAK. And using the newly built brain I could control them all and delete the troublesome ones permanently. It was perfect never had my species been as smart as the PAK made them. I had to keep control of our Queen still so I had to appoint others to rule the Invaders. I dubbed these leaders “Tallest” only appointing those who were taller and having them cut off their thumbs to show their loyalty to me. I directed them to make houses and vessels that could carry us across our planet to rid it of pests that had bothered out kind before.
When that was finished we set our sights on the stars. It took years to build up the forces necessary to build the ships and countless failures to achieve the perfect vessel to travel the dark void. But once we succeeded we were unstoppable. We devoured whole planets in our quest of conquest and either destroyed or enslaved those planet’s inhabitants. It felt good to steal away those weakling’s planets. Even with all those conquests and even with other races to subjugate it was never enough, it would never undo what had been done to me. I couldn’t escape my fate, I was forever doomed to be as barren as my nest had become. I could never make smeets and repopulate my people properly. The bitter taste of it clung to my very being to my soul. I hated it and I hated all of them, some of those races could repopulate faster than mine, so I destroyed them. I ordered every one of them obliterated, they were weak and we were strong.

Gaz looked up from her reading, she almost felt sorry for this Irken. All she had wanted was to serve her people by bringing more of them into the world and those chances were taken from her. She wondered if the Irken Princess would have even thought of going to space if she had mated and settled down to reproduce for her nest. The journals may not have been packed full of useful information about Irkens in general but it did tell her a lot about how they came to be space-faring people and a galactic nuisance. She back to Zim and frowned, her friend had no idea that Sera was actually the name of the former princess, she almost didn’t want to break the news to her. It was infuriating to think about, the princess wanted to destroy even creature that could reproduce better than her own? What kind of lame excuse was that for universal conquest?
Gaz grabbed a few more books before sneaking back to the cloistral chamber. She sat back down in the chair and waited Zim was the first to sneak out of the sleeping chamber she shared with Dib. “Zim, I have something I need to tell you,” Gaz said. Zim froze as though she had been cuaght doing something she shouldn’t be which meant she was about to go and do something stupid but Gaz couldn’t let her do that just yet. When Zim walked over to her Gaz relayed all the information she had read in Tallest Sera’s journal but left out a few details. She kept the princess information to herself as well, but she definitely planned to tell Dib and Zim when the time was right. Zim stared gaping at her with the most confused expression she had ever seen. It was obvious the Irken queen hadn’t expected any of this.
“I have to get control of them then,” Zim replied. “She has to be stopped, I’m sorry Gaz but I have to inform every Irken I come across today to gather a meeting in the main hall in a couple of days time every invader must attend so I have to get them all together.”
“Yeah I figured you would try something like that,” Gaz replied. “Look if you want to fix this mess we need that Tallest Sera alive. I don’t plan to let you stay her and become some smeetery for these people, we are going home.” Zim smiled at her and hugged her. Gaz didn’t let Zim see it but she too had a little half smile, as long as her friend understood their main goal, everything would work out. And she wouldn’t just let them have the smeets either, she couldn’t just give up her new nieces and nephews for a race who abandoned Zim and treated her like garbage. As Zim left the chamber with purpose Gaz looked around at the many faces who were peering at her. “Don’t worry I will be Mama Bear while Zim is out.” She sat back down and began to read as she guarded the cloistral chamber.
A few hours later Dib finally emerged and asked where Zim was but instead of telling him Zim’s plan Gaz told him about the information she had found in the journals.
“So we have to stop her then?” Dib asked. She knew he wouldn’t be on board with this idea, so she couldn’t let him leave. “We can’t go home if we defeat her...” Dib replied. Gaz frowned at his attitude and stood up.
“We will get home no matter what we need to do, and we’re bringing Zim with us,” Gaz replied. “Look it’s going to be fine idiot, just trust me.” He gave unconvinced half smile and nodded like he was agreeing even though she knew he wasn’t actually agreeing. She would have to keep a close eye on him.
“I’m gunna go find Zim,” Dib replied. Gaz grabbed him roughly and pushed him back into the cloistral chamber.
“If you go out there you will be walking right into Sera’s trap,” Gaz yelled at him. His eyes widened at that. “If she seperates you from us there’s no telling if we will ever be able to free you, and it will cost Zim too. If you go out there then we really never will go home.” She waited and let her words sink into Dib’s head and as realization set in he gaped before nodding getting a serious look in his eye before walking over and seeing to the little smeets. Gaz smiled glad he got it through his thick skull before sitting back down and reading. One of the handmaidens brought Gaz a sweet smelling liquid which she drank.
“Meep,” the handmaiden was about to go back to her usualy duties when Gaz stopped her.
“We’re going to need water soon,” Gaz said to her. The handmaiden frowned and seemed to be thinking. “And cooked meat.”
“Mee-mee-meep!” The handmaiden replied excitedly. She rushed off to a few other handmaidens and began to meep orders to them causing them to scurry off to corners unknown. It was a few more hours later when a very familiar face entered. She was generally unchanged in size and her demeanor was still as evil as ever.
“Tak?” Dib said as he spotted the invader who hissed.
“Listen I wouldn’t be here right now if I didn’t want Zim gone from the massive,” Tak replied. “And I don’t plan to get my revenge just yet. Listen just take your stupid meal, now that the handmaidens know what it is I should be able to stay for away from here.” She handed the tray to Gaz. “Don’t expect me to return until I have the perfect plan for revenge!” She then exited as quickly as she had entered. Gaz looked at the meal and inspected it, it was definitely different from meat on earth but it didn’t look too bad. She handed a plate to Dib before tasting it. Her eyes widened int surprise, it actually tasted better than she hoped even though it was a little gamy. One of the Handmaidens handed her a bottle of clear liquid before rushing off to tend the to the smeets. Gaz opened it and tasted the contents, definitely water probably fresh too considering it tasted pretty good. She wondered it it came from one of the planets that were under irken control.
