-Chapter 07-
King Mickey paced before his throne, uncertain of what to do about
Riku. The boy was in serious danger. And why, he wondered, was
Maleficent going around acting like she hated Riku? That hadn't
been hate in her eyes when she'd first learned that he was carrying
the child she'd tricked him into conceiving with her. Nor was it hate
she showed when he had secretly caught her alone and unawares.
The door swung open and Maleficent walked through. She stopped before
the throne and bowed, ever-so-slightly, no more than she had to.
"What is it now, your majesty?"
"I was just wondering why you were pretending to hate Riku," the King
inquired.
"I don't really have time for idle chatter," Maleficent replied.
"Love is hardly idle, Maleficent."
Maleficent stepped back, threw back her head, and began to laugh.
"Love?!" She roared. "Surely, you don't believe I love Riku? He's
barely more than a boy. Besides, even if I did love him, I know he'll
never return that love. His heart already belongs to someone else. Or
hadn't you seen the way his eyes light up at the mention of that
meddlesome fool's name?"
"I know Riku's in love with Sora," Mickey told her. "But that doesn't
mean you must turn what's in your heart into hatred. You can always
love him as a friend."
"Friend," Maleficent pondered a moment, "An interesting idea. I shall
consider it."
Without waiting for a reply, she turned and swept out of the room.

"And then she said she didn't care what happened to him," Riku's
mother said, angrily. "When I think of all the things I wanted to do
to that horrid..."
"Now, now," her husband assured her, "Tell me, what did this woman
look like?"
"Green. Shit," she added as the glass she was washing broke in her
hand.
"Here," her husband removed the glass from her palm and wrapped a
clean dishtowel around her hand. "Sit down. Did you call the police?"
"I'm tired of the police," Riku's mom grumbled. "Even if I told them,
they'd never believe me!"
"So, what do you want to do?" He asked.
She considered for a moment.
"Do you remember how Riku first came to us?"
