-Chapter 2: -
Pregnant.
The word struck Riku like a powerful slap across the face.
He had failed Kairi in the worst possible way. He'd given another woman
the child that was meant to be hers. And it was the ugliest woman he'd
ever been cursed to gaze upon. Ugly in body, mind, and soul.
And she was going to bear his child.
"Oh, Kairi," he sobbed, as Maleficent and Ansem left, Ansem failing to
lock the door behind him as they went.
A thought came to mind then. She was in the next cell over. He could save
her. Get them both to safety. No. He must not. He knew they would not do
to her what they'd done to him. And she must never been seen with anyone
as dirty as he now was.
"Riku?" Kairi asked.
"No," Riku told her. "Don't speak to me. Don't you dare dirty yourself by
speaking to me!"
His tears continued to fall, taking a familiar shape, solidifying into a
keyblade darker than midnight.
"Riku!" Kairi could hear the pain in his voice and it hurt her. The bitch
and her pet scientist had ganged up on Riku, and had robbed him of something
finer than silk and more precious than rubies.
And now that horrid woman was carrying Riku's child.
The thought made Kairi feel sick to her stomach. A child with a father like
Riku deserved a much better mother than this horrible Maleficent.
She heard footsteps fleeing Riku's cell. He was free. But, why hadn't he let
her out? As she remembered his words, a terrible thought came to her.
Riku was going to kill himself.
"Please, Riku," she whispered sadly into the fetid air around her. "Don't."
*****
Tears flew from the naked young man's eyes as he ran toward the gorge that
separated them realms of light from this forsaken place.
He was glad it was there. It would keep the places where good people walked
free of his dirtiness. They would never be tainted by his presence. But what
of the rest of the world? What of the stain he would leave upon that?
There was only one thing to do. He must cast himself into the gorge. He would
hurl himself over the edge, and rid the world of his unclean, worthless being.
He was at the edge now. No turning back. It had to be done. His feet touched
the rim of the gorge, and he cast aside the dark keyblade and leapt forward into
his best swan-dive, not seeing the figure across the gorge.
*****
King Mickey spotted the young man across the way, and tried to warn him of the
upcoming gorge. But as the young man approached, the King realized that he was
deliberately heading for the gorge.
"Not while I'm King," he declared, pointing at a spot directly below the young
would-be suicide. A pool of light opened in the air, and he watched with a
relieved smile as Riku hit it and vanished.
"You'll be safe now," he declared as he continued his stroll, pausing for just
a moment to retrieve the discarded keyblade.
*****
Riku hit the ground with a grunt. It had to be hell. He wasn't good enough for
Heaven, and he was pretty sure that Heaven didn't feel like a cobblestone path.
Come to think of it, he'd never heard anyone mention cobblestones in Hell either.
He was alive. But that didn't make sense either. How could he be. He'd hurled
himself into that gorge, and he was sure this wasn't the bottom of any gorge.
Realizing he was still alive, and a bit more dressed than he had been Riku curled
up in embarrassment, and began to cry.
A hand touchd his shoulder. He gave a tiny, pathetic cry, and passed out.
