-Chapter 3: -
Queen Minnie hummed a sweet tune to herself as she and Daisy strolled along the
winding country lane. Daisy was whistling an accompaniment that went beautifully
with the Queen's and showed what good friends they were.
A third voice joined their's. But this voice as loud and did not join them in a
harmonious manner.
"That sounded like a baby, Your Highness," Daisy declared.
Minnie went over to the bushes where the sound had come from. Lying there, wailing,
was a baby so tiny it had to be a newborn.
Minnie saw a hooded figure moving away from the baby. "Excuse me?"
"Keep the wretched thing. Or drown it. I really don't care. His father was a source
of amusement for me for a while. He's too small to grow up to be anything but a
weakling. I have no use for him."
The hooded figure, who hadn't even turned, walked away without any further comment.
Daisy joined Minnie, who had picked up the tiny child. "That was Maleficent. I'd
know her voice anywhere."
Minnie nodded, "I'll explain everything to the King. I'll need you to run into town
and get what we'll need for baby things."
"Leave everything to me," Daisy offered with a polite bow. "I'll see you back at the
castle."
The two of them parted company for the time being.
Queen Minnie headed back to the castle with the child in her arms.
The King rose from his throne as the Queen walked hurriedly into the room with a child
in her arms.
"He was abandonned," she told him. "Let's keep him."
"Why would any mother..." King Mickey wondered aloud.
"His mother is Maleficent," Minnie explained. "She claimed that she used his father for
amusement and had a baby as a result."
King Mickey noticed the baby's hair had a streak of white in it that was the same shade
as that of the young man who'd tried to kill himself about roughly nine to ten months ago.
"I believe his father was that young man I told you about a little less than a year ago,"
he told the Queen.
Daisy came in with some baby things. "I'll prepare a bottle, my Queen."
"Thank you, Daisy," Queen Minnie said, gratefully. She turned to her husband. "The young
man who tried to kill himself?"
Mickey nodded. "I have no doubt that it happened the day Maleficent made this child. Poor
Riku. He loved Kairi so much. I wonder what he's up to these days."
The baby started to wail.
"He sure is hungry," Mickey observed, happily.
"I want to keep him," Queen Minnie told her husband and King as Daisy returned with a
bottle of formula. Taking the bottle, she began to feed the little boy who rested in her
arms.
"Me, too," King Mickey agreed, smiling. "Now, what shall we name him?"
"Well," Queen Minnie considered, "we could name him after his father."
"Nah," King Mickey decided. "I doubt Riku would want Maleficent's child to be named after
him. The making of it darkened his heart to the point where he tried to take his ows life."
"Darkened..." Minnie pondered. Suddenly, she smiled. "That's it! We'll name him Darkheart!"
She looked down at the baby in her arms. "Hello, Prince Darkheart."
