Notice- I do not own Labyrinth, Jareth (such a pity), or Sarah or any other characters
herein described, thats all Jim Hensen.
The Second Time Around
Sarah looked up at him grasping at what to do next. Her eyes were wide with fear,
disbelief, and another emotion, excitement. As he stepped into the light he seemed to be
just as shocked as she. But he quickly recovered and his arrogant mask of old replaced
his more foreign look of surprise.
Neither said anything for a very long time. Sarah wasn't sure exactly how much time, but
it seemed like a long time. The silence was destroyed by the wind that picked up again
causing a vase on her dresser to fall over. Sarah balled her fists and glared at the Goblin
King. Jareth nonchalantly tightened his black sleek gloves.
"That was no fault of mine, " He announced while checking and fitting his gloves to
perfection.
His voice shattered Sarah's vegetative state and she spoke softly.
"What are you doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious?" He smugly replied.
He was taunting her, of course, the Goblin King enjoyed answering questions with more
ridiculous questions. Sarah sighed, she wasn't in the mood for his taunts. She brushed
past him and walked into the dark kitchen, she removed a knife, grabbed a potato, sliced
said potato in half and grabbed a small broom and dust pan from under the sink. She then
walked past the Goblin King again and walked over to her lamp, she carefully removed
the lamp cover away, feeling the Kings eyes on her the entire time. She looked at the
light bulb. It was perfectly intact.
"I should have known." She growled.
He smirked, "I had to make an entrance".
Sarah was quickly becoming very frustrated and for a brief moment she almost threw the
half potato at him, but she quickly thought better of it. Instead she crossed her arms over
her chest still holding her kitchen tools.
"What do you want?" Her anger subsiding slightly with the release of the question.
He gave her another sexy smirk. Yes sexy, Sarah was not stupid enough to deny that the
Goblin King was indeed a very sensual and handsome creature, but she'd be damned to let
him know that.
"I should be asking you that very same question Sarah. You summoned me here."
The way he said her name, it held bedroom promises, it was almost pornographic the way
it fell from his lips.. And whether he meant to do it, or if it was merely Sarah's hormones
going into overdrive she didn't want to know. As she stared at him she noticed he wore
his usual attire, minus the tights. His pants seemed loose, no longer clinging to areas
she'd rather not think about. He was a complete distraction. How did it come to this?
'Get a hold of yourself Sarah Williams, its just the Goblin King.' She willed herself to act
accordingly.
"What do you mean summoned you?" She finally spat out.
"You know very well why I'm here." He answered, amusement abound in those
mismatched eyes.
Sarah proceeded to throw her arms upward towards the ceiling, thus releasing her tools to
the floor with a wack and a hard thud.
'We are getting no where!" She shook her head.
The wind picked up again and Sarah moved to the window to shut it and close the drapes
in a little more. She stood there for a moment basking in the moonlight.
Jareth was still amazed at how casual she had been walking around since he had been
there, and he was still enjoying the fact that she was most obviously completely unaware
of her state of dress, the moonlight only accentuated the fact that her black tank top and
black panties held little to the imagination. She stood by the window, and sighed. Her
head fell.
The Goblin King frowned. "If you ever need me, Call my name."
She turned around and stared at him, recognizing the words from the book. The
recognition thinned and she bore a look of confusion as her brows furrowed together.
"Wait a minute, the first part I read, but this second part, that wasn't written in the book!"
Jareth raised one elegant eyebrow, "I assure you it is."
Sarah quickly turned around and climbed over her bed looking for the book. Jareth
groaned low. He watched in half amusement and bated breath as she slowly bent over her
bed and crawled on top of her sheets. The innocent little vixen had no idea what she was
doing. In that moment along with a few other ones the Goblin King realized how very
grown up Sarah had become. She was no longer the young girl wishing her little brother
away. No this was now a woman and this only made him want her more.
"Got it!!"
Jareth cleared his head with her announcement. She climbed to the edge of the bed
walking on her knees, she gracefully sat upon her heels and and skimmed to the first
page. Her eyes searching.
"Ah ha! 'If you ever need me dot dot dot'!!" She read and smiled open mouthed with all
the smugness in the world.
In a blink of an eye Jareth was beside her. She flinched only a little. The Goblin King
gently plucked the book from her hands and quickly brought his fingers to the last page
and pointed. Sarah leaned in to read what he was pointing at, her mouth in the shape if an
'o'. She frowned. Same cursive as the front page. 'Call my name'.
"So you see Sarah, it is." He whispered against her cheek.
"Thats not-" She had almost said it. "Oooh, how do I know you didn't just write that in
their magically?!" She retorted. Jareth looked annoyed.
"Because that my dear is my actual hand writing, no magic can create that." He
answered.
Sarah pouted like a child. He chuckled. She instinctively turned her head to look at him.
Since when did he get so close to her?
"What?" She suddenly asked frustration ebbing at the words.
"Nothing, it just seems that once again the rules of the Underground are lost on you."
She narrowed her eyes at him, this only made him laugh again. She was about to pout
again when he pulled her chin up and looked over her beautiful face and lovely chocolate
locks.
"Well Sarah, whats said is said." She grimaced at the memory.
'And since I am here for the night why don't we enjoy each others company."
Amusement sparkled in his eyes.
Sarah's eyes bulged. She pulled her chin away from his gloved fingers. She suddenly
became very aware of her attire, and his close proximity wasn't helping much either. She
bolted from her position and ran to her closet to grab a robe. It should have done the
trick, but when she came out wearing a thin robe that looked very reminiscent of a
Japanese Kimono robe all black with beautiful white flowers adorning the sides, he
couldn't help but think she looked just as enticing. Although he was more or less a little
offended by her improper assumption of his question. It was his own fault, but being the
Goblin king that he was he had to say something.
"Surely you jest, I would never act in the way you are insinuating."
Sarah took a deep breath, exhaling as she gathered her courage and walked to the edge of
the bed beside him.
"I suppose I am. But living here thats all the attention you really get. I, I apologize for
assuming something like that." Her eyes downcast in slight shame.
"Apology accepted." He smirked as he rose.
Sarah shook her head. Someone was testing her, thats why he was here. Testing her in
her abilities to look at everything in a positive light. She was trying, really hard not to
yell at him. She had been doing so well with her temper and her outbursts, how was it
this man had such - no she wasn't even going to say those words.
She suddenly laughed in a whisper. "So you're here all night are you?"
'I am here as long as you wish me to be." Part of him did not enjoy conveying that bit of
information to her, he was slightly worried that she might cast him away right at that
moment. Only slightly. But she didn't.
She thought about it. She could send him away, right now. But what fun would that be?
She was no longer angry at the Goblin King, she understood things better now that she
was older and had time to reflect on her visit to the labyrinth. But she wanted some
questions answered, she wanted to know things. And she would be lying if she didn't
want his company, she hadn't had anyone over to her home save for the movers that
moved her in. She rose from the bed.
"Well, since your here I suppose I'll make some tea for the both of us." She began
walking towards the closet again. Jareth listened to the rustling of clothes and the sound
of cotton against skin. She walked out in a pair of dark blue denim jeans, they hugged
her hips and kissed every inch of her thighs then descended to a small flare at the bottom.
Her feet beheld blue fluffy slippers. She retained her thinly strapped black tank top and
as she walked towards him she pulled her mass of dark brown hair into a loose pony tail.
To say Jareth was not affected by this would be a lie. But he wasn't going to admit to it.
At least, not yet.
"Care to join me?" Big green eyes smiled and twinkled in front of his vision, her hand
held out in the most honest and friendly of gestures.
He took it graciously and followed her into the living room.
Jareth was surprised, and for the second time in his life. He was caught completely off
guard.
