To begin our story, allow me to give a quick recap for those whom have never played or beat LoZ: OoT. Warning this recap is a complete spoiler.
During the events of a massive conflict known as the Hyrulean Civil War, a woman escaped the ravages of war with her child. The woman was gravely injured, but managed to reach Kokiri Forest, a sanctuary that deters all outsiders. Before passing away, she left the child in the care of the Great Deku Tree. The boy was to be raised as a Kokiri, and would remain unaware of his destiny, until one day, when the Gerudo King of Thieves appeared in the forest and demanded a Spiritual Stone from the Great Deku Tree. The mighty guardian tree refused to give it to him, sensing his evil intentions, and in return had a death curse put on him.
The Great Deku Tree entreats Navi, a young fairy of Kokiri Forest, to take the boy, known as Link, to the Great Deku Tree. After obtaining a sword and shield, he approaches the Deku Tree. The tree tells Link of the curse on him, and the brave youth enters the Deku Tree to break the evil curse. Link successfully defeats the enemies inside, but the Deku Tree reveals that it was already too late for him even before he entered. In his last moments of life, he tells Link of the creation of Hyrule and the Triforce that Ganondorf desires. He reveals that it is Link's destiny to thwart the great evil and restore peace to Hyrule, and gives him the Spiritual Stone of the Forest, one of the three keys to unlocking the gates to the Sacred Realm, where the Triforce is kept. He is to seek out Zelda, the Princess of Hyrule. The Great Deku Tree, his purpose now fulfilled, withers and dies.
Link sneaks his way into Hyrule Castle and meets the Princess. She had prophesied that a hero clothed in green would appear holding a Spiritual Stone to thwart an impending evil. Link shows her the Spiritual Stone, and the two devise a plan to defeat Ganondorf. Link must collect the two remaining Spiritual Stones and open the Door of Time in the Temple of Time with the help of the Royal Family's hidden treasure, the Ocarina of Time, in order to obtain the Triforce before Ganondorf. Link travels throughout Hyrule and gathers the two remaining Spiritual Stones. However, when he returns to Hyrule Castle Town, he sees Princess Zelda escaping the castle with her attendant, Impa. Ganondorf had caught wind of their plot and had attacked Hyrule Castle in order to stop them. Before she vanishes out of sight, she throws the treasured Ocarina of Time in the moat surrounding the gates to Hyrule Castle Town to avoid it being taken by Ganondorf. The King of Thieves appears shortly thereafter, not considering a young boy a threat to his impending conquest of Hyrule. He knocks Link off his feet with a powerful magic spell and chases after Zelda and Impa.
Link retrieves the Ocarina of Time and opens the door to the Sacred Realm with the Spiritual Stones and the "Song of Time". Inside, he finds the mythical Master Sword, a legendary blade with the power to undo evil. However, when he pulls the sword out of the Pedestal of Time, he is sealed inside the Sacred Realm.
Ganondorf, aware of their plan all along, enters the forbidden Sacred Realm and touches the Triforce. The powerful relic recognizes the wishes of Ganondorf's evil heart and turns the bountiful land of Hyrule into a haunted land rampant with evil monsters, of which he crowns himself King.
Link remains sealed within the Sacred Realm for seven years, as he was too young to be the legendary Hero of Time, the only one worthy of wielding the Master Sword. Link is awakened by Rauru, a Sage, who relates to him what happened to Hyrule while he was sealed away. Rauru reveals that the only way to thwart the King of Evil is to awaken the five other Sages sealed away in the five dungeons of Hyrule.
Link is transported back to the Temple of Time, where he meets a mysterious figure known as Sheik, a descendant of the mysterious Sheikah race. Sheik aids Link throughout his quest in the ruined Hyrule. Link, one by one, awakens the Sages, who appear to be friends he knew from Hyrule seven years prior to its destruction (with the exculsion of Nabooru, whom Link had only just met as a child). Link, after awakening all five sages, meets up with Sheik in the Temple of Time. Here, Sheik reveals that "he" is really Princess Zelda, the Seventh Sage, in disguise. She tells Link that when Ganondorf touched the Triforce, it shattered into three pieces representing Courage, Wisdom and Power, because the three virtues were not balanced within him. Ultimately Ganondorf was only able to obtain the Triforce of Power. The Triforce of Wisdom was given to Princess Zelda, and the Triforce of Courage to none other than Link. She presents Link with the powerful Light Arrows, which have the power to destroy Ganondorf. As they are about to leave, however, Ganondorf's sinister laughter is heard. Having found them out, he encases Princess Zelda in a crystal prison, and spirits her away into his castle, challenging Link to meet him.
Link finds that Ganon's Castle is separated from the mainland; to aid him, the Six Sages create a luminous bridge that he crosses to enter Ganondorf's huge stronghold. Here, he finds that the entrance to Ganondorf's throne room is sealed by six barriers. The Sages dispel the barriers with the help of Link and his Light Arrows, and he enters the inner sanctum of Ganondorf's Castle. After ascending the dangerous main tower, he finds Ganondorf. Ganondorf tries to convince Link to give him the Triforce of Courage, and later tries to force it away from him, but to no avail. The confident and powerful King of Evil then challenges Link to a battle. Link turns Ganondorf's evil magic upon himself and after a long and hard-fought battle, Ganondorf is defeated and drops to the ground. Princess Zelda is released from her crystal prison, and all seems to be well. However, with his last remaining strength, Ganondorf tries to destroy his own castle, in order to crush his foes. Link and Zelda both make it out barely in the nick of time, as the castle is undone right before their very eyes.
When the Evil King seems to be finally defeated, the pair hears a sound come from the ruins of the castle. Ganondorf, using the true power of the Triforce of Power, transforms himself into a powerful entity known as Ganon, the embodiment of his evil heart. He knocks the Master Sword out of Link's hand, and Link is forced to fight him with other weapons. After causing enough damage to Ganon, Link retrieves the Master Sword, and with the help of Princess Zelda, deals a finishing blow to the monstrous creature. The Six Sages, along with Zelda, use their power to seal the King of Evil away. With peace having been restored to Hyrule, Zelda and Link, as well as the rest of Hyrule celebrated their liberation.
Many years have passed since Ganon's defeat. The land of Hyrule is still at peace, and Zelda rules the kingdom with Link at her side as the King and Queen of Hyrule. Following in their footsteps are a set of twins. The older a tomboy and very much like her father. The younger an exact replica of his mother. A vision comes to queen Zelda on the night of the twin's birth. A great evil was soon to return to Hyrule. And it wasn't them, but their children whom were destined to thwart this evil, with the help of a few close friends...
Now, here is the beginning of this fanfiction. The beginning of The Legacy's Journey...

Lyra sighed as she stared up at the clouds from the shop roof in the village of the Kokiri. It was nice, quiet and peaceful out. And she couldn't help but think of the most recent letters she had received from her parents and her twin brother. She still didn't really understand why she couldn't grow up with her brother at the castle, but her parents knew what they were doing, she assumed.
According to the last letter from her father, she'd get to come back home soon. And she couldn't wait. She hadn't seen her parents in so long she'd forgotten what they looked like. And her twin... Goddess knows she was lonely here. Sure she had Imasu, Zirus, the Deku Tree, and the Kokiri children to keep her company. And they did a great job at it, too. However, nothing could surpass the closeness between twins. Even now, she could tell when something was bothering her brother, just as he could tell when she'd get hurt during training. She couldn't wait to see her twin again. Lost within her own musing she didn't notice the figure exiting the Lost Woods.
"I swear that Skull kid keeps causing travelers to get lost. One day he will learn not to cause so many problems." Imasu stated with a shake of his head as he exited the woods. Looking up he noticed Lyra laying on the roof. He picked up a rock, he smirked and dashed over. With a light toss he threw it so it hit near her head. "OI! You gonna sleep the day away or you gonna get down here and start your training for the day?"
Lyra flinched and jerked to the side as the rock crashed next to her head. "It's not my fault you were out playing a game of chase the Skull Kids." She stated as she sat up and looked down at Imasu. Letting her feet swing over the edge of the roof for a few moments, Lyra sighed. Placing her hands on the edge of the roof, she drew her feet closer to her body and pushed off into a roll. Flipping onto her feet she sighed again as she tilt her head first to the left and right enjoying the feeling of her joints popping. "So whats on the agenda today?"
Imasu glared at Lyra. "Hey if I remember correctly you got lost last time you had to stop the Skull Kids form luring innocent people into the woods." Imasu then thought for a moment about how he should train the girl when Zirus came barreling through the entrance to the Great Deku Tree's grotto nearly plowing through the guard in the process. This however did not stop the Kokiri boy from running full out towards Imasu and Lyra. "Guys! Guys! Guys! Guys! Guys! Guess what The Deku Tree told me that he wanted to see you Lyra I think its important." The Kokiri was practically bouncing as he spoke. Imasu barely understood the boy, if not for the years he had spent around Zirus he wouldn't understand a word he just said. "Well Lyra I guess you now know whats on the agenda now don't you?"
Lyra blatantly ignored Imasu's comment as she looked at Zirus. "Thanks for telling me. I'll see you two after I see the Deku Tree." She said smiling at Zirus before she turned and walked towards the Deku Tree's grotto. As she walked she tossed a hand up over her shoulder in a lazy wave before she disappeared from sight.
Zirus watched as Lyra walked off towards the Deku Tree, then he turned towards Imasu and rocked on the balls of his feet. "Hey, Imasu aren't you curious what the tree has to say to Lyra?" Imasu shook his head. "Nope I already know what is going to happen. It is time to pack see you later Zirus." With that Imasu went to his house and started packing. Zirus stuck his tongue out at the swordsman. "Fine I'll just go alone then!" With that Zirus took to the trees and made his way to the Grotto.
~~~
"Greetings, young Lyra." A lively voice stated as Lyra stepping into the clearing before the great tree. "Good morning! You wished to speak with me?" She questioned as she moved to sit in the grass in front of the great tree.
"Yes. You see, Lyra. Its time for your own journey to begin. There's nothing more these woods can teach you. You and Imasu have need to return to the castle in which you were born. And, to show that the Kokiri are with the royal family I will send a Kokiri to help you in your travels. You must know that your parents had a good reason from separating you from your brother. However, I am not the one who can tell you. As soon as you arrive to the castle you and your brother need to talk to your parents alone. They have many things they must tell the two of you. Now, the Kokiri I've decided to send with you is one you know very well. Zirus shall be the one to accompany you."
"Really?! you mean I can go too!?" Zirus clapped his hands over his mouth suddenly and tried to hide but lost his footing and fell out tree he had hidden in. Too excited to let the fall dampen his mood Zirus then ran over to Lyra and grabbed her hands and pulled her to her feet. He then proceeded to jump up and down and dance in a circle as he chanted "I get to leave the forest!" repeatedly.
The action brought a smile to Lyra's face, before an annoying, nagging voice decided to make itself known. "Zirus, stop! You and Lyra need to start gathering your things for your trip!" A blue fairy flew out of the Kokiri boy's back pants pocket. "Navi is right, Zirus. We have to inform Imasu as well." Lyra stated as she pulled her hands free from her childish friend. "Thank you for looking after myself and Imasu, Great Deku Tree. It has been an honor to learn from you and the Kokiri. I will cherish the memories of our time here greatly." She said with a tomboyish bow to the great tree. "Now, none of that, Lyra. We were happy to have you just as we were happy to raise your father before you. Now, Navi, Zirus. You two best make sure to be of help to both Lyra, Imasu, as well as the Royal Family. Try not to cause too much trouble." The great tree spoke before shooing the three off with some of its lower hanging branches.
Lyra was barely able to contain the excitement that was bubbly beneath her calm composition, however she couldn't keep the smile off her face. She was finally returning home. She'd finally see her parents and her twin brother after all these years. And Imasu would get to see his little sister and his parents too. She thought as she stepped out the Grotto to see Imasu leaning against one of the trees with their packs at his feet. He knew! He knew and he never told her! With a frown she walked up to him. "If you already knew, why didn't you tell me?"
Imasu looked up form his position as Lyra fussed at him. "I only knew cause the Deku Tree called for you. He wouldn't have called for you if it wasnt important. Besides your father was your age when he saved our world so the timing seemed right." Imasu then looked down and Zirus. "Now what has you so giddy Zirus?" Zirus bounced on his toes and grinned ear to ear. "I get to leave the forest with you guys."
With that Zirus took off running to gather his belongings. Fortunately it only took him a minute to grab his bag and strap his bow and arrow to his back and grab his boomerang. He returned so fast that Imasu gave him a bewildered look. "How in the world did you pack that quickly?" Zirus just grinned and and began to skip towards the exit of the village. Navi however floated near Imasu's head and informed the swordsman."Turns out that Zirus has always wanted to leave the forest so he had a bag prepared for just such an occasion." Imasu sighed and shook his head. "Oh well let's go already. Poor Zirus is so excited he might burst if we delay too much."
Lyra smiled and shook her head. "Your right... Though.. I'd be kinda interesting if he really did burst from excitement..." She laughed as she shouldered her bag and looked up at Imasu. "Are you glad that you'll finally get you meet your baby sister?" She questioned Imasu as they followed Zirus at a lazier pace.
Imasu laughed as he too picked up his bag. "Now that you mention it I have not seen her since she was born. This will be interesting that is for sure. Though form the stories I heard form dad she can be quite a handful. Her and Zirus should get along don't you think?" Imasu stepped through the exit of Kokiri Village and onto the bridge. "Well this is gonna be hard to say but its time to go home. I will always love this place but the castle is my home and my blood family is there, but the villagers are also my family. Farewell my friends till we meet again."
Lyra smiled and waved to the Kokiri and fairies that had ran to see them off, though one had the nerve to yell 'Good Riddance!' above the goodbyes. "Take care!" She called out over her shoulder before she looked back at Imasu and Zirus, whom had slowed down to the point that he was an arms length in front of them. "I was wondering when Neko was going to mouth off..." She murmured, having rolled her eyes when she heard his parting words.
Imasu grinned and nodded as they crossed the bridge and entered the Field that separated Kokiri Village from Hyrule Castle." We have a long way to go so let's get going we should reach there by the morning." Imasu lead the way into the vast Hyrule Field. None of them had a clue of what fate had awaiting them in the future...
Lyra smiled and shook her head. "Your right... Though.. I'd be kinda interesting if he really did burst from excitement..." She laughed as she shouldered her bag and looked up at Imasu. "Are you glad that you'll finally get you meet your baby sister?" She questioned Imasu as they followed Zirus at a lazier pace.
Imasu laughed as he too picked up his bag. "Now that you mention it I have not seen her since she was born. This will be interesting that is for sure. Though form the stories I heard form dad she can be quite a handful. Her and Zirus should get along don't you think?" Imasu stepped through the exit of Kokiri Village and onto the bridge. "Well this is gonna be hard to say but its time to go home. I will always love this place but the castle is my home and my blood family is there, but the villagers are also my family. Farewell my friends till we meet again."
Lyra smiled and waved to the Kokiri and fairies that had ran to see them off, though one had the nerve to yell 'Good Riddance!' above the goodbyes. "Take care!" She called out over her shoulder before she looked back at Imasu and Zirus, whom had slowed down to the point that he was an arms length in front of them. "I was wondering when Neko was going to mouth off..." She murmured, having rolled her eyes when she heard his parting words.
Imasu grinned and nodded as they crossed the bridge and entered the Field that separated Kokiri Village from Hyrule Castle." We have a long way to go so let's get going we should reach there by the morning." Imasu lead the way into the vast Hyrule Field. None of them had a clue of what fate had awaiting them in the future...
