Disclaimer: I do not own the Legend of Zelda game franchise. All I own, is a copy of the game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This fan-fiction is based off a role play on GaiaOnline, created by myself and a few close friends. The use of any original characters outside of this fan-fiction is to be asked of me, so I may ask their respective creator's of said characters for their permission for you to use them. Lyra, Raena, and Zabuna are all of my creation thus far. Imasu and Zirus are the creation of my best friend, lover, and fianceé, Kageyukai. Kinto is the creation of my dear friend, Neald. Volpé is the creation of someone whom is no longer in the current role play. The character is, as of now, played by myself and Kageyukai until the original creator contacts us and informs us of what he wants us to do with the character, or if he plans to give us free reign of it.

Author's Note: All of the current character profiles have been posted on my account profile. Please feel free to look so you can at least visit the links for the character's appearance. I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter, which, might I say, was a surprising total of 3,372 words long. Please remember to take a few seconds to leave me a review. If any of the reviews are for a specific character's creator I will pass it on to them and I will make sure to get back to you with their response, if they have one.

So far I see that my fan-fiction has received a total of eleven visitors and a total of twenty hits, but no reviews as of yet. I hope that those of you whom are reading this enjoy the chapter. Unfortunately, I had to split it into two chapters instead of one because it seemed far too long a chapter and I do not want to give you too much to read at one time then leave you waiting forever in boredom for the next one. You can expect the next chapter to come out soon as it is mostly done save for a few more scenes then will be passed on to my personal proofreader. Please remember I said soon, but did not state exactly how soon.

Now, please enjoy the next installment of The Legacy's Journey...

As the morning sun began to rise, the trio crossed the bridge and entered Castle Town. "Alright, we're almost there. Now we can either stop and get breakfast or head on to the Castle, the choice is yours, Milady." Imasu stated, purposely addressing Lyra with a title she disliked just to see if she was nervous about being home.

Lyra glanced at Imasu with a bored look in her eyes. "Hm? You say something, Sir Imasu?" She stated putting emphasis on his title as she continued to walk. Smiling and nodding to the few people about the market place in greeting, she slowly counted down in her head until the whispers began. Everything from her appearance, to her the style of dress, to her companions were discussed around them as she moved. Rumors of who they might be were spreading about like wildfire.

Imasu let out a slight chuckle then followed her. Once he was within arms length of Lyra, he thumped her on the back of ther head. "Please don't go shouting that around, Milady. I only have the title due to being your personal guard. Which I do not believe you need one, but the King does."

Lyra gave an unladylike snort. "I didn't yell anything, Sir Imasu. Besides, you know very well you chose your position. You could have turned down the proposition when it was offered to you."

Zirus began skipping and chanting, "We are going to the castle," as they approached the gates. "Hey, squirt! I don't know who or what you are, but this isn't a playground! Scram, you hear me?" Zirus looked up at the group of guards, whom his chanting attracted, with a grin and cute innocent eyes as he awaited the rest of his companions. "But the Great Deku Tree said I was allowed to go to the Castle and the Great Deku Tree never lies! The Great Deku is always right!"

Lyra noted that Zirus had ran up to the guards ahead of them and sighed. "Calm down, Zirus! We'll reach our destination soon enough!" She called out to the green clad boy as she quickly caught up to him. "I apologize for my companion's excitement. It isn't often the Great Deku Tree decides to send a Kokiri to escort those of the Royal Court back to the castle, let alone allow them to leave their village. Is there some sort of issue with allowing us to continue to the castle? We have a meeting to get to. I wouldn't like to make then wait for too much longer." She stated, having turned her attention to the group of guards.

Imasu sighed and walked up to the guards while pulling out a sheet of paper. "I believe this will sort everything out. As you can see we are here on urgent business and I would hate to have to explain to the King and Queen that we were late due to a few incompetent guards." The guards stared at the paper dumbstruck and wide eyed until Imasu snatched it from their hands and continued to walk on. "Come on. We must press on or we really will be late." As the trio walked through the gate, Zirus stopped and stuck his tongue out at the guards. Then, the boy turned and ran after his companions.

Lyra smirked as she looked over at Imasu. "It seems Kinto wasn't too far off about the incompetence of most of the guards, from what I hear your sister gives them quite a bit of trouble on a daily basis." She stated before glancing at Zirus. "Can you at least try to act respectable for at least an hour, Zirus?"

Zirus' grin faded when Lyra asked him to be more serious. "Awww, but that wouldn't be fun, I was told this would be a fun trip." Imasu chuckled a bit at the Kokiri boy's words. "Relax, my friend, the fun will begin soon enough. I imagine there will be quite a feast tonight. After all its not every day a princess returns home after years of living abroad." Imasu shot a look and a small grin at Lyra as he spoke.

Meanwhile...

The young Prince of Hyrule stood leaning over the edge of the castle walls, looking down at Castle Town. With a sigh he shook his head and almost to himself, "My sister will be here soon, can you believe that? She will finally be coming back after being gone for fifteen years." The young man sighed once more, closing his blueish gray eyes and smiling slightly. He was anxious about seeing his sister again, They wrote to each other yes, but a part of him wondered if he would really know his sister when he saw her again, if their bond would still be there, he wasn't sure.

Raena pushed off the wall she was leaning on and moved to lean over the rail next to the prince, not caring at all how indecent her style of dress was. "Yeah. I know what you mean. I'll finally get to see my big brother. Father told me that the last time he was here was when I was born. I wonder what he's like..." She murmured as she watched the guard patrolling the area.

Kinto turned and looked at his friend and bodyguard, "If your brother is anything like you, then the castle is in trouble. Though I am willing to bet that he is the quiet and reserved type, Raena." he said with the small blush that is always on his face when he looked at his friend. A part of himself thinking that he was glad that he got used to her choice in clothing or there would have been problems with him being unable to speak. "Why did Mother and Father separate us anyways? They killed Ganondorf, he's dead. There isn't anything to even worry about at all. I just don't understand." The prince murmured.

"I thought Ganondorf was sealed in the dark realm. But regardless of that, your parents have their reasons for doing what they do. I'm sure you and your sister will learn their reasoning soon..." She trailed off for a few moments before she looked over at Death Mountain and admired the smoke surrounding it in the distance.

Shaking his head at her comment he went on to say, "Sealed away or killed, whats the difference? There isn't a way out of either and he is trapped there for the rest of eternity. Mother and Father may have their reasons, but they don't make sense at all. Its like they worry about a Deku Scrub some how being able to take on all of the guards here including you." he said with some bitterness in his tone.

"Is it me or does the smoke seem different today?" She questioned and waited for him to look in that direction, before she moved to flick the back of his ear. The prince blinked and turned to look towards Death Mountain as well before being flicked in the back of his ear. He grinned, but didn't turn to look at Raena, "Your the only one allowed to do that Raena, but I advise against taking advantage of it. I may find a way to get back at you." he said his tone light and teasing.

Raena tilted her head to the side. "So you're not going to let you're sister pick on you? That sucks. Its a sibling's job to nitpick and annoy each other to the point of blows." She laughed before she noticed the light blush that usually covered his face. "Hmm... Now how would I possibly take advantage of you? And just how do you think you'd get back at me?" She questioned as she leaned closer to him, slowly raising a finger to her lips. Suddenly she jerked her hand, aiming her finger towards his earlobe. "Like this, maybe?"

Smiling at Raena's game, Kinto simply waited silently as she talked and questioned, waiting for the right moment to strike back. Seeing her aiming to strike at his ear once more, his smile turned into a smirk as he moved to the left, evading her little attack as he reached out to grab her wrist, "To answer your question, I am not sure how to act around my sister. I have not seen her in fifteen years." he said this as he caught hold of her wrist and chuckled, thinking he was now winning, "As for you, Raena, I have had plenty of time to learn and how to react to your games. So I'm sure that I have found a way to win them, instead of being the loser."

Raena grinned and tilted her head to the side. "Oh? Why don't you prove it then?" She stated before movement out the corner of her eye caught her attention. Turning her head towards the gate, she noticed three figures talking with one of the guards off in the distance. "Do you see what I see?" She laughed, instantly distracted. One of the figures was most definitely female. The other two were obviously male, but the one with red hair instantly drew her attention.

Kinto let go of Raena's wrist as he turned to look at the group, smiling at how quickly his friend had been distracted, "It seems we have guests arriving." his eyes focused on the female in the trio, noting her blonde hair and the way she carried herself. Leaning on the wall trying to get a closer look he looked at the trio's choice of clothing, "I think that is Lyra and Imasu, but I don't recognize their companion, could he be one of the Kokiri that she mentioned in her letters?" he asked looking to Raena to see her bouncing on the balls of her feet excitedly.

"I am almost certain that its them. Want to wait for them at the gate? Or should we ambush them Raena?" The Prince asked, with a small grin to hide his nervousness that now started to build up in him. He glanced at his friend, wondering how she felt about all of this as he waited for her answer. He looked at the man Raena seemed to be watching intensely, wondering if it was the same little boy that left with his sister all those years ago.

Raena turned her head to look at him. "Hmm... You'll see." She grinned with a mischievous look in her eyes. Turning her attention back to the approaching figures, she climbed onto the railing and sat on the rail as she leaned forward and waited.

Back with Lyra and her companions...

Imasu turned and looked behind him when he heard a yell of "Boom" only to see his sister land on top of Zirus. Before he could blink, she leaped at him with a cry of "big brother!" He easily caught her. "Well how are you dear sister." He then glanced over at Zirus who looked dazed and confused and muttering something about the Deku Tree falling on him. " I believe you have squashed my Kokiri friend."

Lyra blinked as a girl in a skimpy looking outfit landed on Zirus from above before leaping at Imasu. "So this is the infamous Raena..." She murmured as she moved to help Zirus to his feet.

"He'll be fine. I've done worse pranks to the guards." Raena said completely brushing off the fact that she might have hurt poor Zirus. "I missed you, big brother!" The playful girl exclaimed as she clung to Imasu, hugging him tightly.

Coming up to the group, a little out of breath for his rushing, Kinto looked at everyone and saw Raena hugging whom he guessed to be her brother. "Raena... That was so not what I meant..." Sighing and composing himself as he turned to his sister, he gave a slow and formal bow to her. "It is good to see you again, Lyra. I do apologize for Raena's actions towards your traveling companion." he said formally, not sure what else to do.

Lyra smiled as her brother's words reached her. "Kinto, You don't have to bow to me. You're my twin brother. My equal. Now, come here."She stated as she grabbed his arm and yanked him into a big hug. "It has been far too long, Kinto." "That it has. Its been way to long." He said returning her hug.

Imasu watched as Zirus slowly stood up and stumbled around. "Yeah, Zirus will be okay. He has suffered worse injuries just being himself and falling out trees." He then turned to the prince and placed one arm across his stomach and bowed. "How are you today, your highness?" Imasu then turned his focus on his sister. "Now tell me exactly what you mean by you have done worse to the guards here."

Kinto laughed hearing Zirus' comment and Imasu's tone of voice when he asked Raena that she has done to the guards, his laughter getting a little loud as he tried to control himself. Stopping himself long enough to answer Imasu's question, "I am quite... quite well. Forgive me for laughing, how was your journey? Safe I hope." Kinto said returning a bow to his sister's body guard.

Lyra smiled. "It was just fine. With Zirus here, Imasu and I had quite the entertainment along the way." She stated as she reached out to place a hand on Zirus' arm in hopes of steadying him a bit.

"Owwie! That hurt!" Zirus whined as he shook and rubbed his head. "Well I think I will go for a walk in the garden for a bit. Come find me when its time for the feast!" With that the poor Kokiri took off running towards the garden.

Raena blinked and jerked slightly. "Oh! That reminds me..." She took a few steps back as she glanced up towards the sky to tell time. Looking at Imasu, after sending a smirk Kinto's way, Raena spoke. "Oh, no worries. You'll see soon enough. Kinto, I'd say a countdown starting with number five should begin in a few moments."

Kinto looked at Raena as she said that, sighing and placing some fingers on his forehead in a dramatic way of hiding the smirk on his face as he silently counted down the guards' doom in his mind. "Sir Imasu, as you are shortly about to see, the guards here are given their run for their money. In fact, they tend to work very hard for it at times." He looked at Imasu, doing his best to keep a straight face as it got closer to Raena's newest, and possibly most elaborate prank yet. Not including the one where she had sent the guard diving into the castle's moat in search of an unmentionable falsehood. He glanced at his sister, before returning his attention to Raena and mirroring her smirk.

With Zirus...

The lush plant life made Zirus at ease. He could almost feel the life flowing into him from the plants. It was always this way since the day the Deku Tree gave him the magic stone he kept at all times.

As he continued to walk he saw a squirrel and began to chase it. After a few minutes the squirrel jumped into a bush and Zirus dove in after it.

It was then that Zirus noticed there was a mask hidden in the very bush he jumped into. Picking it up and grinning, Zirus began to jump up and down. "Cool a squirrel gave me a present! Thank you Mr. Squirrel!" He exclaimed not noticing the puff of smoke that appeared behind him.

Volpé's arrival in the mortal realm was a surprise for even himself. Instead of the usual Hylian that merely wore the mask for fun or decoration, it was in the possession of a boy clad in unusually bright green, much like tree leaves. He was faced in the other direction, so it was possible that the boy had no idea what powers the mask possessed and he did not know Volpé was even here. The golden creature sat down on his hindquarters, patiently waiting a few moments before speaking. "I take it that you are unaware of the powers that item you hold has, or you would be showing me your face and not your behind," the Keaton mused. What an unusual person this was that managed to summon him! He had a feeling this would be an entertaining encounter to say the very least.

At the sound of his voice, the Zirus whipped around and stared at him with sparkling wide eyes. "Oh! Pretty!" He exclaimed in awe as he stared at the fox like creature.

The ghastly fox's chest puffed up at the sound of praise. This was the first time anyone had ever called him lovely instead of running away in terror. He couldn't help but allow his ego to inflate a bit; after all, he'd hardly the chance for such pleasantries before. The ephemeral flames around his paws flared up and danced happily like insects around a lantern.

The Kokiri boy spoke again. "Are you from the forest, too? I am Zirus of Kokiri Forest and I never saw a fox like you before." The Keaton chuckled, his ivory razors of teeth flashing and more of the ghastly mist entering the air around them.

Volpé stood and circled the Kokiri he now knew to be called Zirus. "Silly boy," the wily golden fox mused. "Did you not know? We Keaton are not from your forest. We are from an entirely different realm altogether, though I highly doubt you will ever see it. It is forbidden to you mortals." His tone of voice was almost musical as he stated the facts. Zirus took steps closer to him with an opened and outstretched hand. He was shocked by this action, for he was not used to such straightforwardness. The Kokiri said, "Is your fur soft? I wanna touch it please."

Volpé was dumbfounded by the naivety of his new acquaintance. Did he not realize that this was no ordinary animal? He was capable of human speech and had a constant magical aura surrounding him. Not only that, but he was just about as tall as the Kokiri, something far more than just a little unusual among foxes. His three black-tipped tails twitched nervously in confusion. When the hand neared his fur, he side-stepped the attempt to pet him warily. Physical contact with the mortals was something he was certainly not used to.

The creature once more began circling Zirus, an action that is primary to predators when stalking prey. He said, "Tell me, boy. Were you aware that you had summoned me? Most of us Keaton would gibe you and test your abilities, then reward you if you were to answer all of the questions correctly. However, I differ from my brethren." He paused to allow the boy to take in everything he said, then continued. "I do things differently. I will not mock you, for that is childish and pointless. As for the tests, I find them foolish and also quite pointless, I do no such things. Instead, I must decide whether you are worthy of my aid. If you fail my inspection, I will leave. If you are clean, I can help you." He finished his words monotonously, then stepped ever closer to his summoner. The fox sniffed Zirus and smelled nothing but forest. There was no corruption.

His own bright red eyes met the green eyes of the Kokiri, his pointed snout just centimeters from Zirus' nose. He saw innocence that was unmarred by evil intentions. This meant that this boy was truly a Kokiri and a genuinely good person. Him being all the way out here and not inside the forest also meant that the Deku Tree had entrusted him with some sort of important task. That's when Volpé finally took in his surroundings and realized where they were.

The serenity and beauty of the flowers around them meant that they must have been in the Royal Garden. When his eyes caught sight of the guards, he knew it must be so. His attention turned back to Zirus and he inquired, "Tell me. What business does a person like you have in the Royal Garden? You wouldn't be allowed in here if you had no connection to the Royal Family. Nor would the Deku Tree allow for you to be here without permission. What is it that you are up to?" The fox's eyes gleamed keenly with curiosity. Surely this time something important was going down in the mortal realm with all the contradictory events taking place.

The ghost fox listened respectively to his summoner's words; he wouldn't want to anger this mortal and be forced to return to the sacred realm. Not only that, but for being a mortal boy with the attention span of a fly, he had listened to Volpé's own words. So it was only common courtesy to return the favor, which was not exactly in the nature of your average Keaton. Zirus was saying, "Good I am glad you don't mock or test me. I don't like being made fun of, I also don't do well with test questions." Such was to be expected from such a hyper person, so this came as no surprise to the Keaton. As for being made fun of, no one liked that very much unless they were psychotic freaks that enjoyed demeaning themselves. While he had nearly touched noses with the Kokiri, the boy seemed to enjoy the action and exclaimed, "It tickles!" with a tickled-pink giggle.

The boy answered his inquiry with a large grin. "For someone not from the forest you sure know a lot about how things work back home," Zirus said cheerily. Volpé merely gave a nod and answered flatly, "Of course. It is not as if living for over eight-hundred years would leave one blind of the mortal realm, no? I've met the Deku Tree in the past as well as some of your ancestors, so it only makes sense that I may know a thing or two about your people, now doesn't it?" He laid down and curled his tails around his body as the boy continued. "Okay, well you seem nice, so I guess it's okay to tells you. I am on an important journey to escort my friend Lyra back home. She lived in the forest with me and my other friend Imasu to train and prepare for some great task. They are over there somewhere and I grew bored so I decided to wander the garden," Zirus said. He paused to smile even wider in pride."The Great Deku Tree chose me for the job 'cause I am special. I has another important job, but I cannot tells you that just yet. Sorry, Foxy, but the Deku Tree said I was not to tell anyone who doesn't already know." Volpé frowned and his tail-tips twitched in irritation. "Yes, that does sound like him," the fox sighed, his curiosity a deflated balloon. "Very well. I will press no further. But if the Deku Tree has sent you to do it, it must be a task of vast enormity, making you worthy of my assistance." He stood and stared levelly at the petite person in front of him.

"Indeed, I suppose that I will help you with whatever task that has beset you. Just remember that this mask is what binds me to you," he stated, motioning toward the Keaton mask in the hands of Zirus. "If you were to lose it, I may vanish back to the scared realm in which I came." With that said, he turned and faced the direction that the Kokiri had pointed in which his companions were. The golden fox's black triforce marking on his forehead rose as his brows did, and he said, "Shall we?" He only hoped that this young man's friends did not flee like so many others before Zirus had. That would cause issues, for sure.

Zirus perked right up when the creature mentioned the importance of the mask. "Oh don't worry, Foxy. I'll put this mask in a very safe place and never lose it." Zirus pulled his bag of his back and rummaged through it for a second and put the mask inside the special compartment for his treasures. He then closed up his bag and placed the bag on his back once more. "Alright Foxy lets go show you off to my friends shall we?" Zirus then proceeded to skip his way back to the group.

After a short walk he found them just where he left them. "Hey guys meet my new friend."

A sudden explosion of power erupted in a huge cloud from the guards' sleeping quarters, mere second before the angry yells of multiple voices rang throughout the castle grounds. "Hmm...To much baking soda... Kinto, can you remind me to go lighter on the baking soda next time?" She questioned as the powdery debris began to fall their way due to the wind.

Imasu stared at his sister puzzled by what she meant. Though he did not have to wait long as an explosion and the distinct smell of baking soda filled the air. Imasu then turned to glare at Raena, but was cut short by the sudden return of Zirus and his new... friend.

Lyra blinked for a few moments with a surprised look on her face before she began to laugh lightly. "Imasu, doesn't this remind you of when Zirus decided to tar and feather Neko?" She stated as Zirus caught up to them.

Zirus pointed to the others one by one and introduced them to Volpe'. "The red haired man is Imasu. He is a royal guard and the personal guard of Princess Lyra. Lyra is the blond girl over there. They lived with me in the forest! They are great friends! The others are the Prince and his body guard. His guard is mean! She likes to squish people."

The golden beast took mental notes on the each of them. Imasu was the tall male with the blinding red hair and orange-red eyes. Lyra had blonde hair, rosy cheeks, and large blue eyes with surprising courage hidden inside them. The Prince, undoubtedly the sibling of Lyra, had platinum blonde hair that was almost white with a set of icy blue eyes. Last but not least, the guard of the royal child bore bright bluish green orbs of eyes and long, wispy hair, not to mention she was scantily clad. None but Zirus were Kokiri; instead, they were all Hylian.

With all in-taking aside, the one name Lyra spoke, "Welcome back, Zirus. I must say, I love your ability to make friends with anything and everything." A toothy smile crossed the mouth of the fox, and he glanced over at Zirus with his crimson pupil-ed eyes. "Oh? I take it that this one must encounter many with his naive and cheery personality," he mused. His gaze then turned to the group."Now where are my manners?"the fox asked rhetorically. He dipped his head politely and continued, "You may call me Volpé. You may or may not have heard of Keaton, but I am his elder brother." With introductions complete, he sat his haunches down.

The creature then felt the eyes scorching his pelt. His head turned to see that the one penetrating him with her stare was the guard of His Highness. He had just began to wonder what it was that was so fascinating about him other than his ghastly features when she exclaimed excitedly, "It's... It's... So... Fluffy!" Unable to react in time, the Keaton had a mortal body crash into him that started to snuggle him and caress his head. This was something all too sudden and it was certainly not anything he was used to. He began to struggle against her grip frantically. While he did so, she turned to Zirus and said, "It's not my fault that Big Brother stepped out of place faster than I had planned. Nor is it my fault you stepped into range. By the way, you are a very comfortable landing cushion." When she finished speaking her come-back, the Keaton broke free of her grasp. "I do not know whether to thank you or ostracize you right now," he panted, his words meant for Raena.

"Ra...Raena! I...You..You shouldn't treat such a being like that!" Kinto said first taking a step towards his friend then stopping, completely confused and not sure what he should do or how the Keaton named Volpe' would react till he saw the reaction happen and he just sighed, hanging his head. "Raena, one of these days your going to be the death of me." he said to himself as he ran his hand through his hair, watching everyone now.

"Wow Keaton is your brother. I have heard stories of him and the rest of your kind but I never thought for even a moment I would actually see one with my own eyes." Imasu bowed in respect towards Volpe'. "As Zirus has stated I am Imasu Incendiu and I am, in fact, Lady Lyra's Personal bodyguard. Though I doubt she needs it. She has learned everything I know about sword play after all." Imasu then grabbed Raena by the arm and pulled her to her feet. "Raena, now is not the time, we must hurry to see the King and Queen."

Lyra covered her mouth to stifle her quiet chuckles. This Raena was practically a female Zirus, except she's very tactical given her elaborate pranks and she wasn't as childish. Raena was more feminine than herself, and by her state of dress, she probably took full advantage of her looks and did everything possible to make others underestimate her. She had to be quite clever to be her brother's personal bodyguard after all.

Raena pouted at Imasu as she rubber her arm. "Fine... Fine... You didn't have to yank my arm..." Then, she perked up. "Wanna race?" She questioned as she looked at everyone. "I think it would be better if we didn't race. Imasu and I haven't been here in many years. And Zirus has never been here before. It wouldn't be good if we all end up getting lost later today or tomorrow." Lyra spoke up, causing Raena to blink and tilt her head to the side. "Oh... Right..."

Clearing his voice the young Prince looked at everyone before say, "Now that introductions have been made and it seems everyone is here. Let us go meet the King and Queen of Hyrule, I am sure that their patience may be wearing thin with the delays. They await us within the Throne Room." he said formally giving a bow and walking a bit ahead before turning and looking back at the group, waiting to see if they would follow him. Kinto looked towards his sister meeting her eyes before a moment feeling a flicker of jealousy in him before he looked away quickly as he withdrew into himself thinking and wondering where the jealousy had come from.
