Louie The Rune Soldier Fan Fiction / Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Rune Soldier Rayne ❯ Trip to the other side ( Prologue )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Author's Notes: This new fanfic is based on the story of Rune Soldier Louie as well. But I decided to patent a totally new character from my favorite games and place them in the limelight. In this case, my new character is none other than the son of Rinoa and Squall Leonhart of Final Fantasy 8 fame.

Ladies and Gentlemen…may I introduce…Rayne Leonhart!

-------------------

In a new world, so like our own…

“All right, the class is over for today. Everyone, make sure to check your test scores from last week's academic exams.”

“Yes ma'am!”

The female instructor smiled as her students began to file out of the classroom and make their way to the cafeteria, which was a few floors down, and some went to the study halls to brush up on their grades.

`Things have been rather….quiet. Though I'm not complaining…'

The door suddenly opened, making the woman turn in surprise. That look disappeared as she smiled at the sight. Two young girls appeared, who were dressed in normal sundresses. Both were blonde and had deep blue eyes.

“Mommy!” Both girls cried out as they spotted their parent

The woman in person was none other than Quistis Dincht. The woman had been the youngest SeeD instructor in Balamb Garden; she was older now but still was as attractive as ever. She had grown a little taller, and her curves had time to fill out a bit more, but she still retained her figure, even though she had given birth to two bouncy and very energetic little daughters. Quistis smiled as she held out her arms to her two children.

“Hey, how are you Lara? Elena?”

“Fine! We've been with Daddy all day!”

“Really now? Have you two behaved?” Quistis asked with a secret smile as she knew that the two were a handful.

“You better believe it!” Another voice called out, and in came a blonde man who had a strange lightning style symbol scar on the side of his face. He smiled as he met his wife as the woman held their two daughters.

“Really?”

“Yeah. They didn't bother me all that much while I was teaching my class.” Zell smiled as he took the hand of his wife.

Zell and Quistis were married several months after the first anniversary of the defeat of the Sorceress Ultimecia. It was a surprise to everyone in their circle of friends, but the relationship, that was unlikely, began to blossom and the marriage was the result. And after a few years, they both had two little daughters. Quistis regained her instructor's license, while Zell became a martial arts instructor in Balamb, while their other comrades were also married.

Selphie Tilmitt has now become Selphie Kinneas as she married Irvine, and had a bouncing baby boy named Michael as their symbol of joy, and another one in the way. Selphie became the official organizer for any special event that occurred in Garden, while Irvine transferred and became the teacher for those in Balamb who were to become snipers. Selphie had the pleasure of doing her first great job of all time…and that was the wedding of none other than Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly.

The wedding between Squall and Rinoa was a great event that attracted many of those who recalled the battles waged by him and her for the safety of the whole world. Squall's father Laguna Loire was there, Ellone, his dear sister, Head Master Cid, his unofficial second father, Edea, Cid's wife and the one who watched over him when he was still small, General Caraway, Rinoa's father was present. Along with the rest of them. The Garden had never encountered so many guests at one time, but it was welcome nevertheless.

The two had been blessed with three children, and the oldest was a young man who was now in the age of seven. His name…was Rayne. Squall had planned to name their first child after his mother Raine Leonhart, if it was a girl, and if it was a boy, he would change the `i' in the name to `y' instead, sure enough they had a boy.

Speaking of which…

“Hey, auntie Quistis!”

Zell and Quistis looked and sure enough, there was the young man in question. Squall and Rinoa's son was dressed in the same garb as his dad. The clothes however were designed to conform with the size and build of the wearer. And there was a lion symbol on the back.

Rayne Leonhart was an exact mirror image of his father when he was still young and so was he, he had the same well chiseled features of his dad and the same build, though he was slightly taller than his dad and had the same eye color. He however had his mother's hair and it was in a long braid that reached his back while the rest was in the same style as his dad, he was also tanned like his father, and he didn't have the scar that his father had on his face. He also had the same build of his father as well, well formed and proportioned muscles, and the aura of courage and confidence. Many of the female cadets in the Garden were always enamored with him, the same way his father was watched by women when he was younger. The younger Leonhart wasn't at the age, but many young women and even women who were older than him looked at him with enamored eyes

But it wasn't just physical features alone. Rayne had the same skills and some of the attributes of his dad. He had excellent leadership skills, his skill with a gunblade was exceptional, as he was trained by his father, his grades in the exams in Balamb were excellent, and his skills in magic were amazing, as he was taught by his mother, who was a Sorceress. He had the same courage and will of his dad, he also was able to control his emotions when in the heat of combat and was quite the expert on reining in his own temper.

Some of Rinoa's traits were with her oldest child as well; he was honest, open-minded, free-spirited, and naturally…stubborn. He also earned his mother's sense of empathy with other people and her desire to be true to herself, and he had her own reserves of courage as well. And naturally, she had given him her own skills in magic.

“Hey, Rayne! Good to see you!”

Rayne nodded as he made his way to his aunt. Quistis had spent time in lecturing Rayne in the art of blue magic, and Zell had been teaching him the art of hand-to-hand combat when he was free from his dad's teaching of gunblade mastery. He went and held Lara and Elena while the two girls giggled as they had fun with the oldest Leonhart child.

That was when four other people came into the room…namely…

“Son, good to see you.”

Rayne turned and saw his parents, Squall Leonhart, his father, and Rinoa Leonhart, his mother. His dad still had the scar, and was now dressed in the garb of the Commander of all SeeD forces in Balamb, Squall had originally resigned from being Commander but had returned after his marriage with Rinoa. He had grown taller and had a tougher build, but he still looked the same as he didn't intend to grow a beard. Rinoa looked the same, partly due to the fact that she had the powers of the Sorceress, and due to the fact that she took good care of herself. She still had the figure to make quite a few male heads turn a full 180 degrees, and time had added to that, making her fuller but retaining her slim build. Her hair was still the same and glowed an onyx black. Her love with Squall never wavered, and that permanently denied the magic the chance to corrupt her.

“Mom, Dad. How was work today?”

Both smiled as they told their oldest son what happened today, they also mentioned that his other siblings, six year old Kira, and five year old Lena were here also, and sure enough, the two said children came into the room and made a beeline to their parents and their oldest sibling.

The other couple was none other than Selphie and Irvine with their baby Michael. They too had taught Rayne what they could teach him. Selphie taught Rayne on the arts of magic that she too had mastered, and Irvine taught him how to survive in places that were somewhat inhospitable.

Selphie didn't change much, and still was as bouncy and energetic as ever, and Irvine loved her for that. She also had gained a figure that attracted a lot of male stares, but the only stare she wanted to receive was from her husband Irvine, and she was getting it.

The people were deep in discussion when a shimmering light appeared in front of them.

They tensed a bit, but a sense of calm seemed to emanate from the light, and sure enough, a voice came out.

“It's good to see you again, my son.”

Squall nodded as he knew who it was. “Mother, it's good to hear from you again.”

The light then took the form of a beautiful woman with auburn hair and the same blue eyes as Squall and Rayne's. The woman smiled as she was now shimmering with a blue aura, and made her way to her son, her daughter in law, and her grand-children. She smiled as she embraced them all.

Rinoa nodded and smiled at the mother of her husband. “How are you?”

The woman named Raine nodded and smiled at the Sorceress. “I am well, but there is something that I need to discuss with you and my son…Recently, Hyne has been feeling some great disturbances in the fabric of reality, and has determined that a world in soon to occur danger was what she has felt, she learned that a fragment of the inherited spiritual power of the Sorceress, namely that of Adel is on that world, despite the fact that it's not powerful, it presents a great danger, despite the fact that it's asleep. She sent me to ask you if you could lend a hand and help control it before it may be used by someone in this world?”

Before anyone could answer, Rayne stepped forward. “May I do that request, grandmother?”

Raine looked at her son's son, and asked him. “Are you intending to do that?”

Rayne nodded with certainty. “Yes. I feel that this is something I will do. Besides, if the power would corrupt anyone in that world, I shudder to think what will happen.” Rayne, having the blood of the Sorceress in him knew the risks one would face if tempted with such power, so he was just as knowledgeable as the his folks about the dangers of the Sorceress.

Squall and Rinoa wanted to protest, but they could tell that their son Rayne was serious. Raine then looked at them and replied. “I will personally watch over him, I promise you that, and so will Hyne.”

Squall knew that his mother was a person of her word, and nodded in agreement, and with some reluctance so did Rinoa. Quistis and Zell wanted to argue, and so did Selphie and Irvine, but they could tell that Rayne was set on it.

“I'll need to borrow your father's gunblade, Squall. Your son will need a weapon.” Raine said as she asked her son.

Squall nodded and took out the gunblade named the Lionheart. The shimmering blue blade hadn't aged the least, the lion's maw was still there and the ancient weapon glowed even more as Squall handed it to his mother.

Raine ran her hand over the blade and then to the surprise of the people another shimmering form of the Lionheart appeared, the ethereal form then became solid and formed into another Lionheart, Raine smiled and handed to new gunblade to her grandson.

“You will need this.”

Rayne smiled as he took the weapon. Raine then opened a portal and spoke to her grandson.

“I will have to warn you. Once you step through, the time compression effect will reverse your body, and you might suffer some side-effects. And most of all, you will have to relearn everything that you've learned before. That includes your training with the gunblade, magic, martial arts, and GF summoning. Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

With that the boy stepped through the portal.

Squall and the others looked as the portal vanished, and hoped that everything will be all right.

-------------------

Rayne opened his eyes found himself in a forest and it was raining, he looked about and made sure that no one was nearby. He went to a nearby pond and spotted that he did look a little older, though he was somewhat taller now. He then thought back on what he had to do. Though his grandmother didn't mention what danger this new world he was in would have to endure, he felt it indeed.

He sighed as he reached the place where his gunblade was and so was the small pile of supplies his grandmother had given him.

<This will be a long day.>

End of Prologue…

The work might not be good, but this is merely a field test, so don't expect all that much from me. This has possibilities so I won't leave it all alone.
