Track 3
“Who could be so vicious to assault you like that?” A raven haired man asked, wrapping his friend’s forehead with clean white bandages at the same time.

“A classmate of mine,” Kazuma answered, closing his eyes.

“What did you do?” Natchin followed up as he completed the bandaging on his friend by tying on a knot. Kazuma sighed and an image of a heavy panting Motoko being on top of the blond haired guitarist began to form in his cloudy mind slowly.

“I tried to kiss her…”

Hearing what Kazuma had said, Natchin chuckled and put his hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Kazuma, I can’t believe you’re that bold,” he commented. The black haired one then took yellow plastic folder with a ‘Shade’ logo on its cover page and laid it on the floor. “Here’s the completed band score for ‘Rain’, get familiar with it,” Natchin said as picked up his electric bass guitar, ready to leave. “We’re meeting this coming Thursday for practice.”

“Thanks...”

“Women are as unpredictable as the weather. Take care, my friend,” The bassist added as he winked, leaving the Kazuma’s apartment to meet the other band members.

The following day in school, he noticed Motoko’s desk was empty. Taking a glance at his watch, he concluded that the kendo goddess was late. While deep in thought of yesterday's undesigned caressing, the approaching footsteps belonging to a particular kendo girl was clearly audible. Lifting his head up, he saw a blushing Motoko leering at him, and greeted her astoundly. The kendo goddess answered back by looking away, making Kazuma sighed again.

For the rest of the day, Motoko was trying to avoid Kazuma. She was quiet all day long and did not even bother to keep an eye on the rock guitarist whether he was up to any suspicious or perverted moves. As for Kazuma, he was totally lost after seeing the kendo goddess’ chilling attitude and it was best for him not to antagonize Motoko further by leaving her alone.

Motoko and Kazuma went their own ways after school, without saying a simple ‘goodbye’ like they usually did. “She is still mad at me...” The rock guitarist told himself as he headed for the music room. On the other hand, Motoko had made her way to the school’s dojo and began her kendo training with her juniors.

“All right everyone, get ready for jigeiko!” Motoko instructed the juniors to wear their bogu (kendo armor) after completing the kihon wazas and kirikaeshi. The kendo goddess began to put on tare, do, men and kote in order, and once everybody was paired with a partner, she commenced the freestyle training with a thundering ‘Hajime’.

“Onegaishimasu!” Motoko and her training partner bowed and started sparring. As the kendo goddess was attacking her partner relentlessly, her empty mind began to flood with the heated moment in Kazuma’s apartment and the way how she treated the rock guitarist earlier. “Am I going a bit too far?” Motoko reflected as she strike her partner’s wrist. “Although it was his fault… I should give him a chance to explain and apologize…”

The kendo goddess kiai-ed and the moment she was about to charge forward to deliver another men cut, her partner came up quick with a strong debanna men cut as she had anticipated it. Both of them crashed and Motoko cried as she was sent falling back real hard from the sudden attack. “Motoko- senpai, are you alright!?” Her training partner exclaimed, rushing to her senior’s side. “What am I doing!?” Motoko gasped, still lying on the parquet floor shockingly. “I shouldn’t be thinking such things in training!”

“Motoko-senpai, are you all right?”

“I’m fine, Kikuko…”

“You don’t seem to be your usual self today… Are you feeling unwell?”

Motoko shook her head in respond.

“Motoko-senpai, I think you should take a rest,” Kikuko advised and helped her senior to get up. “Come, let me help you to the side.”

For the rest of the training session, Motoko had spent her time on meditating in seiza position instead of doing regular jigeiko.

It was five when the kendo training ended. After changing back to her school uniform, Motoko headed straight home. As she made her way out along the corridor, she halted upon hearing somebody playing the electric guitar. “That music,” Motoko thought. “Where’s it coming from?”

“Ah! It must be the guy from your class I supposed.” Ayame said as she walked up to the kendo goddess. “My class,” Motoko reasoned. “Endou?”

“He has been using the music room from time to time,” the junior provided. “He must be practicing some piece now. Pretty, isn’t it?”

“Ayame, see you on Friday’s training session,” Motoko answered. “I have something to do now.”

“See you too! Bye!”

Motoko then fastened her pace to the music room, making sure that the rock guitarist would still be there when she arrived. Reaching her destination, there was not single sound from electric guitar. Nobody was playing that musical instrument at all. It was dead silence. “He has left,” Motoko concluded disappointedly. The moment she turned her back, the music came back, springing the tired looking kendo goddess back to life. “What should I do?” She pondered as her hand gripped the door knob. “Should we talk?”

“Motoko, he doesn’t wish to do ‘that’ to you intentionally…I think he has feel sorry for what he did…”

Motoko turned the door knob and opened the door gently. True enough, it was Kazuma alone. The electric guitar was crying. He was playing it in a depressing and melancholy style which made the kendo goddess realized she was also to be blamed partly as she did not give him a chance to explain. “I didn’t mean to hurt him...” Motoko reflected guiltily. “Why can’t I bring myself in to say a simple ‘sorry’ to him…” At the end of the play, Kazuma soliloquized about the kendo goddess ignoring him hours ago:

“I'm a dreamer,”

“where does the light of dawn pour down?”

“That sunshine doesn't touch this place,”

“this secret place where you can cry all alone.”

“As if I were screaming, I call out your name,”

“If you weren't here; if you were here.”

Hearing Kazuma’s soliloquy, Motoko was taken back and dropped her shinai. “Who’s there?” He asked. Since there was no answer, he went outside to check if somebody was playing some pranks on him. To his surprise, he saw Motoko walking away. “Motoko, wait!” Kazuma shouted and caught up with her quickly.

“Go away, Endou… I don’t wish to see you…”

“Motoko, you were here to see me, aren’t you?”

“Nothing of that sort… I must be going home now…”

“Wait!” Kazuma exclaimed and grabbed hold of her hand tightly, stunning the kendo goddess with his boldness. She could also feel her body getting warm slowly generated by hand contact and her face turned red eventually. “I…”

“Could you let go your hand? It’s late and I need get back by six,” an embarrassed Motoko ordered as she tried to shove him off roughly. “Or do you wish to pick a fight with me?” The kendo goddess then clutched the shinai in her hand, promising that she would assault him if he failed to abide by her command.

“Never!” Kazuma yelled and dragged a struggling Motoko back to the music room forcefully. “Even if I have to be beaten up to a pulp, I must still explain the whole matter to you today!”

Both Motoko and Kazuma were quiet after entering the music room. They had been looking down on the floor awkwardly, hiding their blushing as they unsure how to start off. “I...” they uttered, breaking the era of silence finally.

“You first, Motoko…”

“Endou, I’m sorry for ignoring you today,” Motoko said softly and stole a glance on the rock guitarist’s forehead. “Your head. Does it still hurt?”

“Thank you, Motoko,” Kazuma smiled. “A little, don’t worry.”

The kendo goddess felt relieved.

“I’m sorry if Rex-kun had scared you,” he added. “It’s a snapping turtle, one of the ferocious species.”

“It’s okay… I didn’t expect you keep a turtle inside your bathroom…”

Kazuma chuckled. “It seems that you’re very afraid of turtles,” he asked, remembering that she had barged out of his bathroom hysterically. “Is it true?”

Motoko’s face reddened even more as he struck one of her weaknesses. “Umm… It isn’t what you think, Endou,” She lied, thinking of an excuse to cover her bizarre weak point. “It just that i… i…”

Before she could finish her white lies, Kazuma snapped his fingers. His bag, which was beside Motoko’s seat, started to fidget on its own. The head of a snapping turtle popped out from one of the units after that. "Grrrrr" Rex-kun growled as he glared at Motoko. The kendo goddess screamed and bolted out of her seat immediately.

Silence filled up the music room for a second. Motoko's cheeks grew as red as burning charcoal when realizing she was sitting on Kazuma's lap with her arms were wrapping around his neck. She jumped back quickly to avoid embarassing herself further.

"I'm sorry, Endou!"

“I have no idea how Rex-kun ended up in my bag,” Kazuma grinned at the blushing Motoko. “Anyway, i just found out that Motoko has a phobia on turtles... Hehe...”

“IS IT FUNNY?” She asked and cracked her knuckles.

“OUCH! OUCH! STOP IT, MOTOKOOOOO!!!”

“Motoko, there’s nothing to be ashamed of being afraid of turtles,” Kazuma smiled as he rubbed his recovering head, which was worsen by Motoko’s hammering a while ago. “Everybody is not perfect, even Gackt-san.”

“I’m going to tell her now…”

“Motoko, there’s something I want to tell you now,” Kazuma said, grabbing her hands once again. The kendo goddess looked at her hands and then gave him a death glare. “Sorry!” He yelped and continued where he stopped. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to offend you yesterday… It just that I can’t control my feelings…”

As Kazuma met her raven eyes, his expression turned apologetic.

“Ever since I have met you, your presence is always a reminder of Tomoko…”

“Who is Tomoko anyway? I have heard you mentioning her name when you first came to our school.”

Taking a deep breath, Kazuma began to reveal the connection between Tomoko and himself.

Flashback:
"Boss, you're late again..." A green haired biker said.
"Sorry guys. I suspect some cops were following me," Kazuma answered. "I have to detour."
