Keitaro cracked an eye open. The sunlight streamed through his window and illuminated his room. He sat up and was met with a sharp pain in his head. Keitaro moaned.
“What did I do last night?”
“As I understand, you had a rather good time.” Keitaro turned to see Grim leaning in the doorway. Instantly, the memories of the previous night flooded back to him.
“I did it! I actually KISSED Narusagewa!!!” Keitaro jumped out of his bed and began to dance around his room. Grim laughed.
“You sure did…kiss…” He rubbed a hand over his lips. Grim snapped out of his trance and gestured to Keitaro. “Come on, we'll be late for breakfast.” Keitaro raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean we?” Grim sweat-dropped and laughed.
“Oh, well… Mitsune kind of invited me.” Keitaro smirked.
“Oh, I see…Does big bad Grim have a little crush?” Grim glared at him.
“Listen pal, you're about to shave ten years off if you keep it up!” Keitaro chuckled and waved his hands.
“Oh, I'm just kidding! Come on, I'm starved!” Keitaro threw on some clothes and then joined Grim at the bottom of the stairs. As the two boys entered the Kitchen, the Hina girls were already seated and about to be served. Sarah smiled and waved.
“Oh Hey Doofus! Who's your friend?” Grim opened his mouth to introduce himself, but Mitsune got up and stood next to him.
“Sarah, this is Grieg. He's my friend.” Grim blushed as he put his arm around her shoulder.
“Heh, yeah. Nice to meet you Sarah.” Grim realized that there were lots of other people in the room and sweat-dropped. “Oh, sorry! Hello to the rest of you as well!” everyone murmured a greeting to their new acquaintance. Motoko looked up from the back of the room.
“So, Grieg, what brings you here?” Grim smiled.
“Well, I just had to stop by and meet these wonderful girls Keitaro keeps telling me about.” Grim rubbed his chin. “Let me guess… you're Motoko, right?” Motoko nodded. Grim smiled and continued to go around the table. “Lets see… Sarah… Su… Shinobu…Of course Mitsune…” Grim smiled as he looked to Mitsune standing next to him. “Then that leaves…”
“Me!” everyone turned to see Naru standing in the doorway with a gigantic grin on her face. Naru sauntered into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Keitaro. “Hiya Kei-Kun!” Keitaro raised his eyebrows. Great! Naru must still be a little drunk! Keitaro smiled and started to lead Naru out of the kitchen.
“I'm gonna take Naru upstairs…I don't think she's all the way sober.” With some difficulty, Keitaro led Naru up the stairs and into her room. He slid open the door and helped Naru down into her bed. “There Naru. Why don't you get some sleep, then you ca-” Naru pulled Keitaro into a deep kiss. When they broke for air, Naru smirked.
“Kei-Kun… would you like to have a little sleepover?” Naru began to rub her breasts underneath her shirt. Keitaro stood there, completely entranced by what he saw. He found himself becoming very excited. Naru smiled again. “Keitaro, you know I've always wanted you…” she began to undo her shirt. “So what do you say?” Keitaro's heart raced as his hand began to extend towards Naru. No! Keitaro was snapped out of his trance and vigorously shook his head.
“Naru! I-I really want to…but…well… you're drunk! You don't know what you're saying!” Naru began to pout.
“Kei-Kun, I thought you loved me…” Keitaro was filled with guilt from the statement.
“Well…I-I…” without warning, Naru's eyes rolled into the back of her head as she collapsed onto her bed mat. “Narusagewa!” Keitaro rushed over to the unconscious Naru and made sure she was alright. Keitaro sighed with relief. Phew! She must have passed out! Great timing. Keitaro stroked Naru's hair and stared at her peaceful face. She looks like an angel while she's sleeping…
“URISHIMA!!!” Keitaro froze. He knew all to well what such a cry foretold. He slowly turned around to see Motoko seething in the doorway, blade drawn. “HOW DARE YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A SLEEPING, DRUNK GIRL!!!” Keitaro's mind raced. Oh Shit!! I better do something fast, or I'll…I'll… uh oh. Keitaro couldn't summon on his powers fast enough. With a mighty swing of her sword; Keitaro was yet again launched into the sky. Motoko remerged at the bottom of the stairs, sheathing her sword. “What a pervert.” Grim shook his head and sighed.
“I'll go find Keitaro. I could use the fresh air.” Mitsune smiled.
“Have fun, baby.” Grim blushed.
“T-thanks…Honey.” The other girls snickered as Grim headed out of Hinata Inn.
Grim trudged down the path leading to Hinata Inn, letting the sunlight warm his face. “What a beautiful day!” Grim sighed. “It's funny that I get to enjoy a beautiful day for once.”
“Well, then I'll just have to change that, Mr. Reaper.” The hairs on Grim's neck stood on end at the cold, calculating voice. He slowly turned to see a man with sleek red hair and fiery eyes leaning in the shade of a tree. The man pushed off from the tree, dusting off his fine black suit coat. Grim's eyes narrowed.
“What do you want?” The man just smiled.
“It has come to our attention that you've given your powers to a mortal, Mr. Reaper.” Grim crossed his arms.
“That's none of you're concern! I stopped working for the lower branch eons ago!” The man sneered as he pulled a piece of paper from his pocket.
“A grudge we have yet to forget, Mr. Reaper…Keitaro Urishima is the boy with your powers, correct?” Grim responded with a glare. The man simply shrugged and went on.
“It has come to our attention that some…intervention may be needed in this matter.” With a crack, Grim's Scythe had appeared in his hands.
“You don't have the authority!” hissed Grim. The man laughed.
“What God doesn't know won't hurt him, and in your current state, I don't think you're in any position to inform him. Now, either you come back to work for us, or the rest of this week will be…unpleasant for Mr. Urishima.” Grim's eyes narrowed into slits.
“Never.” The man sighed as he tucked the piece of paper back into his coat pocket.
“Very well, though I must warn you that your friend Keitaro may seem a little…split…” The man started to laugh maniacally as he faded into nothingness. Grim sighed to himself.
“So much for a good vacation.” With one last glare at the spot where the man had been, Grim took off down the path towards Hinata Inn.
Meanwhile, Keitaro got up rubbing his head.
“Motoko sure hasn't lost any strength.” He groaned. As he looked around, he realized that had landed in the woods not too far from Hinata Inn. As he was about to start towards the building, Keitaro felt a tingling sensation in his chest. The feeling quickly became more and more intense until it felt like a beehive now inhabited his stomach. There was a sudden flash of light which knocked Keitaro backward. When he looked up, he found himself looking into the eyes of himself. While the person in front of him was undoubtedly himself, there was a large difference between them. Keitaro's usually kind eyes were replaced by eyes full of hatred and malice. Keitaro stood up and looked his counterpart in the eyes.
“W-Who are you?” the other Keitaro smirked.
“I'm you. A better you.” With a laugh, the other Keitaro knocked Keitaro back to the ground. “I'm Nega-Keitaro, chump!” Keitaro looked up at Nega-Keitaro, dumbstruck. Nega-Keitaro laughed. “I'll be taking my half of OUR power and be on my way. And just so you don't get in my way…” before Keitaro could respond, Nega-Keitaro shot a red bolt at Keitaro, stunning him. With another chuckle, Nega-Keitaro walked off towards Hinata Inn.
Grim burst through the door to Hinata Inn. The girls, with the exception of Naru, were sitting in the living room watching T.V. Mitsune looked up and smiled.
“Hey Grieg! You find Keitaro?” Grim shook his head, still a little winded from running all that way.
“No*huff*, listen, Keitaro*puff* might be acting a little…off when he gets back.” Motoko raised and eyebrow.
“What do you mean off?” Before Grim could respond, Nega-Keitaro walked in through the front door. Su jumped up from the couch and ran to him.
“Hiya Keitaro!” Nega-Keitaro pushed Su back onto the couch roughly.
“Get outta my face, kid.” Su looked at him with a looked of shock and sadness. Motoko got up from the couch and began to draw her katana, a look of disgust on her face.
“Urishima! Su-chan did nothing to you! You must be p-”
“Punished right?” Nega-Keitaro spat in disgust. “I've been getting punished for things I haven't done for too long! And if you want to stop me, go ahead and try, you foolish, insecure little kendo girl!” Motoko faltered for an instant, not used to being psychologically attacked, but soon regained control.
“Very well Urishima, time to be punished!” Motoko readied her sword and lunged at Nega-Keitaro. Right as she raised her sword over her head to strike, Nega-Keitaro's hand shot up, freezing Motoko on the spot. Nega-Keitaro laughed maniacally.
“Ah ah ah Motoko! None of that from you!” to everyone's horror, Nega-Keitaro violently waved his hand to the left, sending the immobilized Motoko crashing into the wall. Mitsune bravely stood up from the couch.
“Y-you're not Keitaro! Keitaro would never hurt a friend!” Nega-Keitaro laughed again, taking a step towards Mitsune.
“Oh, I'm Keitaro all right, but I've changed… I WON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE!” Nega-Keitaro proceeded to slap Mitsune hard in the face. Grim had about all he could stand.
“Hey! You DO NOT touch her!” slowly, Nega-Keitaro turned to face Grim, a devious grin on his face. In that instant, Grim knew that he had made a grave mistake.
“What's a matter Grieg? Don't like it when I touch your girl?” Grim almost faltered under Nega-Keitaro's piercing gaze, but managed to stand up to his fullest height.
“No, I don't, you imposter!” Nega-Keitaro raised his eyebrows.
“Oh, an imposter am I? Where do YOU get off calling me an imposter?” Nega-Keitaro's devilish smirk returned. “Well Grieg, I think it's time everyone just how big an imposter you are!” before Grim could react, Nega-Keitaro shot red bolts at Grim, which swirled around him. To everyone (especially Mitsune's) horror, Grim's casual clothing began to grow longer and darker, the color seeming to melt off. The truly horrifying sight was when Grim's skin began to melt with it. In a matter of seconds, Grim in all his terrible glory stood before the Hina Girls. Mitsune's face paled as she looked on in fear.
“G-Grieg….” Nega-Keitaro wagged a finger at her.
“No no no, Foolish girl! Not Grieg…GRIM!” Grim winced as Mitsune fainted. He looked towards the others, whom shied away from his gaze. Motoko, whom had just begun to steady herself, pulled out her sword.
“Y-you're an evil spirit…THE evil spirit!” Grim waved his hands.
“No! I'm not evil! I'm one of the good guys!” Nega-Keitaro laughed again.
“Good!? GOOD?! You're just as good as the rest of these worms, Grim. You'll ALWAYS be evil!” Nega-Keitaro calmly waved his hand and sent Grim flying into the opposite wall. “Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take these girls that my worthless counterpart loves so much and use your powers for what they were meant to be used for!” with a familiar crackling sound, Grim's Scythe appeared in Nega-Keitaro's Hand. He heaved it over his head and into the air. There was a flash of light, then everyone but Grim had gone. Grim slowly got up from the ground and rubbed his skull. Once he had regained his bearings, he realized what had happened.
“No…” Grim scoured Hinata Inn, desperately looking for any sign of the girls… but found none. Not even Naru, who had been in her room, remained. Grim returned to the living room and looked out the window. “I have to find the real Keitaro!” He sighed.
“He's the only one who can save them now…”
Keitaro floated in the air unable to move. He had been floating there for what seemed like forever, still having no idea what had gone on. Who was that guy, and how did he come out of me? He thought to himself. Keitaro heaved a sigh. Whatever happened, It COULDN'T have been good. Keitaro was ripped from his thoughts by the sudden drop in temperature. With the familiar ripping sound, Grim stumbled out of the portal, seeming very weak.
“Grim! What's wrong? Are you okay?” Grim slowly got to his feet, and with what seemed like a great deal of effort. Waved his hand and freed Keitaro from the spell. Keitaro walked over and helped Grim steady himself. “Grim, what's wrong?” Grim looked up from the ground and up at Keitaro.
“Keitaro, I am so sorry…” Grim momentarily paused before continuing. “It seems that a particularly powerful demon by the name of Balthazar has decided to seek his revenge on me through you…” Keitaro's face paled, fearing the news to come. “Keitaro… the negative version of you came back to Hinata…and took the girls with him...I'm so sorry.” Keitaro's eyes glazed over.
“N…Narusagewa…” slowly Keitaro's hands clenched into fists, his eyebrows furrowed and his dread was replaced with a deep, burning anger. “These things always happen to me…” he hissed through clenched teeth. “Every time I start being happy somebody else comes to take it away!” Keitaro turned to Grim. “Grim, you and I are going to stop this Balthazar guy…and get Narusagewa back…” Grim nodded.
“Mitsune too…” Keitaro smiled.
“Yeah, Mitsune too.”
