"Please die, Kyon."
Ryoko Asakura's smile was unnervingly pleasant as she prepared
to kill her classmate. It was a necessary sacrifice for the good
of the Intergrated Data Entity.
And it would have been so simple if Yuki Nagato had not chosen that exact moment
to break into her Data Jurisdiction and interfere with the operation to terminate
Kyon's existence.
"Your programming is weak and contains multiple flaws. The Spatial coordination
and data lockdown had insufficient computations to evade my detection."
The severe look in the short haired girl's eyes behind her glasses contrasted sharply
with the normal lack of expression on her face.
"So you're going to interfere with my attempt to collect more data?"
Ryoko look more puzzled then concerned. That worried Kyon. He realized at that moment
that his life depended on a glasses girl who had told him before that she was an alien.
"Independent action was not authorized. Your purpose is my backup."
"And if I don't comply?"
"Your data will be dispersed out of physical interaction."
The brownhaired boy could only stare in amazement as a battle he could barely begin to understand
within the limitations of his five physical senses began to take place before him. Asakura's attacks
were barely discernable to his dazzled eyes, matched only by Nagato's speed in deflecting the attacks
away from them both as she shielded him with her own seemingly frail form.
But when she told him she was fine after getting impaled by multiple metal spikes,
that was simply too much to accept.
"You don't look fine at all!"
Yuki was unconcerned. The trap had been set, all her offensive data required to activate Asakura's deletion
now was physical contact. She calculated that such an event occurring during this battle given the nature
of the opponent approached near complete certainty. And there it came....wait, miscalculation!? ERROR! ERROR!!
"Success."
Kyon gurgled in disbelief, his hands clutching futilely at the the slim metal lance that had pierced his throat.
Arterial blood gushed out in an unstoppable stream as the triumphant long haired school girl pulled out her
transformed fingers from the wound.
"That should do it. I can't wait for the data that the Haruhi will produce now."
Nagato dispersed the spikes impaling her body in an instant, but the damage done to her physical body slowed her
down by precious irreplacable seconds. Time that Kyon simply didn't have to spare.
"You're too late, Sempai."
Nagato's speedy incantation slammed Asakura's body back and pinned her against the wall of the room which even now
was starting to revert to its original form, through severely damaged by the data battle that had taken place within it.
The Humanoid Interface could not find a pulse on the crumpled body. Brain wave activity had ceased.
Existence Kyon had been nullified.
No. It was unacceptable. Kyon could not cease to function. Not like this.
Unaware that her own actions displayed an emotional intensity that was just as deviant in its own way from
her initial programming as Ryoko's had been from her own, the normally methodical alien girl began incanting
furiously as she fought to reanimate the spark of awareness that was Kyon. At that moment she found that it
didn't matter what this meant to Haruhi or the others. It was what he meant to her that was the most important
thing in her awareness right now. She must-
The door to the classroom slid open.
"Hey Kyon! I need you to-"
Haruhi Suzumiya's words trailed off as she found herself for the first time ever unable to understand
what she was seeing. Nagato was on the ground and there were holes in her body spilling blood out and
she was holding something that looked like a broken dummy...only it wasn't a dummy.
It was Kyon-but that didn't make any sense-Kyon was dead-how could he die-what was going on-
"Isn't it different, Haruhi?"
Who was that? Asakura? But why was she there against the wall even though nothing seemed to be holding her-
"I killed Kyon. Because I am an alien, just like you've always wanted to find. So here I am."
Alien?! It had to be some kind of stupid joke, Kyon was just playing along and...so why did the blood smell so real?
Why weren't they getting up and all laughing already? This couldn't be happening, it didn't make sense at all!
"Isn't this what you've always wanted? Something different to cause changes? You had the power to do so-"
Yuki's incantation finally cut off Ryoko's voice. But the damage had been done.
Her desire to find aliens, timetravelers and espers had done this? Was she responsible for Kyon...Kyon-
what had she done-her fault-it was all her fault-she hadn't wanted this-it was all wrong-magic and aliens
had killed Kyon-she had killed Kyon-Killed Kyon-Kyon-KYON!!!
Haruhi clutched at her suddenly throbbing head, her mind caught in a loop of slowly crumbling denial
transforming into horrified realization.
"IYAA!!!"
And so the world ended.
