Marvel Avengers Fan Fiction ❯ Talia's story ❯ 2: A team - The Avengers ( Chapter 2 )
“I gotta get to the police to tell them to set a perimeter, are you with me?” Captain America asked Talia. The said girl smirked at him, “Let’s go, Mr Rogers.” With that, Steve started running to where a group of policemen were crouching, defending a small part of the street.
Captain America jumped up on a taxi, Talia following his actions. The policemen looked up at the ridiculously dressed man and the teenager in a shirt and jeans. Steve immediately addressed them, “I need men in these buildings. There are people inside that can run into the line of fire. You take them through the basement or through the subway. You keep them off the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as 39th.”
Talila added, “There’s quite a few people in a diner called Donya’s diner. It’s on Blanford street, shop 582. You can help them find their way and get out of there.” A police sergeant looked at them strangely and asked, “Why the hell should I take orders from you two?”
An alien jumps up the taxi Talia and Captain America were standing on. Taking advantage of them being distracted, talking to the police, it hits Talia on the head and manages to slice the Captain’s side. “Argh!” Talia holds her throbbing head and attempts to kick the alien, but the alien catches her leg and flings her off the taxi to the ground, knocking her out.
Suddenly, an explosion takes place and an alien jumps up the taxi Talia and Captain America were standing on. Raising its elbow to hit Talia on the head, Talia dodged the hit and punched the alien in the stomach. The policemen watch as Captain America and Talia fight off the alien with ease.
The cops, in shock, turn to the police sergeant, who turns to his men, “I need men in those buildings. Lead the people down and away from the streets.” He then tilts his head to his walkie talkie and tells other officers, “I need a perimeter as far back as 39th.”
Nodding at Talia, Captain America hands her an earpiece, gesturing for her to wear it. “It’s for communication between the group.” He tells her, jumping off the taxi and going back to fighting off aliens who attempt to attack the civilians. Talia does as she’s told and notices more aliens approaching them, coming up with a plan.
“Captain!”
He turns to Talia, who’s shouting to him from the other side of the street, while holding the alien in a choking position.
“I’ve got a plan!”
He continues fighting while shouting back, “How much of a plan?”
“Er…twelve percent of a plan!”
“Twelve percent?!”
“Just get them huddled together!”
“Got it!”
Steve and Talia worked together to gather the aliens and surrounded them, despite having less help than the aliens.
Mustering all her energy, Talia held her hands out and focused on generating something she hasn’t done in two years. A greyish circle started around the aliens, with sparks surrounding it. Soon, a successful portal was formed and half of the aliens’ bodies were inside. Dropping her hands, the portal disappeared, with their upper half of the bodies, leaving the lower half dropping to the ground. Captain America stared at her in shock, yet felt a sense of admiration for this teenager.
“Whew…” Talia sighed happily. The street they were on seemed clear of aliens, so she turned to the man, “Pleasure working with you, Captain.” He smiled at her, “Call me Steve.” Her smile got bigger and she responded, “Well, I’m Talia, but you can call me Lia. That’s what everyone calls me.” She heard a voice from the earpiece, “We got his attention. What the hell was step two?!”
Her eyes widened and she told Steve, “I think they need help.” Steve nodded and ran in the direction he came from, trying to find Hawkeye and Black Widow.
While running, Talia kept shooting Steve questions.
“Did it hurt when you got the super soldier serum?”
“Why on earth did you want to crash the plane?”
“You didn’t bother to find a parachute?!”
“Did you use to have asthma?”
“Oh my days, you jumped out of a plane without a parachute?”
“Do you really hate parachutes that much?!”
“Did you personally know Howard Stark? He’s SO cool!”
Steve and Talia finally reached Hawkeye and the Black Widow, who seemed to be having trouble fighting off the aliens by themselves.
One by one, Talia used her portals to behead the aliens, but her energy ran low and she resorted to fully relying on her future seeing powers to know what the aliens were going to do, stabbing them with a weapon she found on the ground.
But the aliens kept coming and it seemed as though this was her last moment… Before lightning struck all the aliens, and the God of thunder landed on the ground. “Oh my days, that’s Thor!” Talia squealed, “I’m meeting so many famous people today..”
“Whose kid is this?” Hawkeye asked Steve. Steve shrugged, “she was helping to fight aliens.” Talia raised her hand to Hawkeye, “I’m Talia, but everyone calls me Lia.” He smiled and shook her hand, “Name’s Clint Barton, but everyone calls me Clint.” He winked at her. The Black Widow rolled her eyes and rested her arm on Talia’s shoulder, introducing herself, “I’m Natasha.”
After getting to know Clint and Natasha, Thor introduced himself and Steve informed Tony Stark on the communication earpiece of the new member helping them. “What’s the story upstairs?” Steve asked Thor.
“The power surrounding the cube is impenetrable.” Thor solemnly answered.
Tony’s voice added, “Thor is right. We gotta deal with these guys.” Natasha raised an eyebrow, “How do we do this?” Steve looked at her and said, “As a team.” The adults shared a look, conveying an unspoken agreement.
Thor stepped forward, “I have unfinished business with Loki.”
Clint, who was cleaning his arrows, eyed him and said, “Yeah? Get in line.”
“Save it,” Steve told Barton, “Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need. Without him these things could run wild. We got Stark up top, he's gonna need us..”
Steve was interrupted by a horn. Talia turned around to see a man getting off a motorcycle. “Oh, I know you! You’re Doctor Bruce Banner! You saved momma donya’s life before!” Talia exclaimed to the shy man standing in front of them. He nodded appreciatively.
He looked around and said, “So, this all seems horrible.”
“I’ve seen worse.” Natasha tells the man.
Bruce grimaces, “Sorry.”
Natasha shook her head, “No, we could use a little worse.” Steve pressed a finger to the earpiece, “Stark, we got him.”
“Banner?” Tony’s voice asked.
“Just like you said.” Steve answered.
“Tell him to suit up. I’m bringing the party to you.” Tony told Steve.
Everyone turned to where the Iron Man suit flew towards them, a Chitauri Leviathan following him. Talia scrunched up her nose as she heard Natasha stutter, “I–I don’t see how that’s a party..”
Iron Man flew closer to the ground, making the Chitauri Leviathan follow him. Steve faced Bruce, “Dr. Banner, now might be a really good time for you to get angry.” The said man started walking towards the Chitauri Leviathan, looking back and saying, “That’s my secret Captain. I’m always angry.” His body started to swell and as he grew larger, he turned to face the Leviathan, skin turning green.
Raising his fist, he slammed the nose of the Leviathan onto the ground, the force of the Leviathan originally flying pushing him back, but the Hulk held its nose down, scraping the street. The Leviathan was in the process of overturning when Iron Man flew up and shot a rocket out of a compartment in his suit.
The rocket manages to attach itself onto the soft part of the Leviathan, blowing it into pieces. Everyone took cover while Steve braced both Talia and himself with his shield. The aliens, which Talia now knew as Chitauri, started shouting and ripping their mouthpieces open to scream at the group.
Everyone managed to form a circle, preparing themselves for the battle. The Hulk roared at the screaming Chitaurians, Natasha cocked her gun, Thor got a better grip on his hammer, Steve adjusted his shield, Clint nocked an arrow on his bow, Talia raised her hands in preparation to create portals, and Tony prepared his repulses.
“Oh this is such a cool moment…” Natasha smirked upon hearing Talia’s comment. The Black Widow notices more Chitaurians coming out of the portal in the sky and calls the team, “Guys.” Everyone looks up to see the Chitaurians readying themselves for battle.
“Call it, Cap.” Tony says.
“Alright, listen up,” Steve tells the Avengers, “Until we can close that portal up there, we’re gonna use containment.”
“Barton, I want you on that roof,” Steve points to a roof close to the portal, “Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays.” Clint nods. “Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, turn it back or turn it to ash.” Tony nods from in the suit, turning to Hawkeye who addressed him, “Wanna give me a lift?”
Tony nodded, “Right. Better clench up, Legolas.” He takes hold of Clint’s clothes and flies him to the roof, leaving the rest of the Avengers.
“Steve continues speaking, “Thor, you’ve gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You’ve got the lightning. Light the bastards up.” Thor leaves with a gust of wind, and Steve turns to the woman and the teenager, “We are gonna stay on the ground, keep the fighting here.” The man turns to Hulk, who was staring at the Chitaurians, “and Hulk?” Hulk turns to him.
“Smash.”
With something that resembled a grin or a smirk, Hulk roared and jumped, smashing Chitaurians all around. Talia smirked with her eyebrows raised at the choice of words Steve used, and Natasha shoved her.
“Ouhhh, this all seems exciting. Do you guys do this everyday?” Talia asks the two adults left, clapping her hands together. Steve chuckles while Natasha shakes her head with a smile.
Talia’s eyes go white before she nods in understanding, shrugging, “Still cool.”
