Chapter 15

“Where is the one named Kiba?” Kagome asked among the crowd of ninja. A man of six foot stepped out of the crowd with a large sized dog next to him.

“I am,” He said voice deep and mature. Kagome looked him over. He had short black hair with slitted pupils and red demonic markings on his cheeks. His jacket was that of Eskimo’s only blue and white with blue caprice and blue sandals. “And this is Akamaru.” Kiba continued as he stroked the dog beside him. Akamaru sat and lifted his head up high in pride. Kagome smirked as she looked him up and down once more.

“You’ll do. You and Inuyasha should follow me.” Kiba nodded and fell in behind Inuyasha as Kagome lead the way to her house.

“I’m going to guess this has something to do with the army that’s headed our way.” Kiba announced. Kagome turned to him and nodded.

“You are full blooded demon, are you not?” she asked.

“Not really. My family are of the demons, descendants actually of the wolf demons who were bred out by mating with humans. Now we only carry markings that of the wolf demon. I can only talk to other wolfs or dogs and have speed. I’m far from what Inuyasha is.” Kiba explained. Kagome turned toward a cabinet and pulled out an arm’s full of weapons. A couple minutes later, the table had been littered with scrolls, Kunai knives, shurikan, and other things like smoke and flash bombs.

“There are two things I am going to need from you Kiba. You say you have speed but I will also need strength to pull off this mission. My mission requires three strong demons or half breeds to wipe out that army. If you can not pull this off, then I must find someone else.”

Kiba put his hand on Akamaru’s head and stated, “With Akamaru by me, we will be equivalent to another half breed.” Inuyasha grunted.

“You love to throw the half breed term around, don’t ya?” They both turned to Inuyasha and apologized for the lack of respect. Kagome moved to the window and realized that the sun would set in just two short hours.

“We must leave. Gather every weapon you can carry from your quarters and meet me at the training grounds. Quickly now!” Kagome rushed as the two left. She strode over to her room and took out a black and silver battle kimono with a red obi. The splits of the kimono ran high to the top of her thigh so she put on short shorts and leg holsters. After getting her kimono in order, Kagome retrieved her Jade Blade and the Compass Daggers. She then went to her kitchen and started to strap kunai knives in her leg holsters. She strapped shurikan to her wrists and arms, stuffed scrolls in her pouch, strapped smoke and flash bombs around her waist next to her daggers. The last thing she did was attach her sword to her hip. As Kagome strode out toward the training grounds, she saw a single silver haired figure standing. For a moment, Kagome thought it had been Inuyasha but looked again and realized that this figure was a little taller and wore a white and red kimono with shoulder armor and what looked like a tail over his right shoulder. Kagome took a deep breath and noticed that his scent was like Inuyasha’s only it had a slight difference between the two. Inuyasha’s scent was that of sandalwood and forest floor while the youkai’s scent was a more fiery scent like that of a chili pepper. As she neared the stranger, she saw a blue crescent moon on his forehead and magenta streaks along each cheek. Kagome’s breath grew shorter at the amount of aura he let loose around her.

She silently calmed herself into steady breathing and managed to say, “What do you want?” The demon only glared.

“You should speak with respect for those who are important. Your disrespect is not tolerable.” Kagome flared her aura in aggravation; she didn’t have time to play mind games with this loser. She had an army to destroy! Kagome shook it off and paid no mind to the youkai.

“I’ll speak with you when I get back.” She said as she sensed Inuyasha near.

“Kagome! Get away from him!” Inuyasha felt his temper rise at the thought of his brother near. What the hell did he want anyway? “Sesshomaru, why are you here?” Inuyasha questioned, his hands readied on Tetsusiaga’s hilt.
“You will hold your tongue. You need not to concern for your little miko. I am just here to converse with her.” Sesshomaru’s stone cold glare penetrated the hanyou’s defenses. Inuyasha growled.

“Fine, whatever!” Kagome shook her head.

“Our meeting will have to wait. This mission must succeed if this place wants to stay alive. Now, if you will excuse us my lord.” She turned to see Kiba walk up to her.

“I can here their footsteps.” Kagome nodded and dashed off into the trees; leaving an agitated Sesshomaru behind.

“I say 77 at the most.” Inuyasha mumbled as the trio spied behind a bush.

“Naw, I’m going with 90.” Kiba whispered. Kagome smiled and shook her head.

“I say we keep track of how many we kill so that way, the loser who kills the less buys the three of us as much sake and whiskey as we want with no complaints.”

“You’re on!” they said simultaneously.

Kiba looked toward the crowd again mumbling “Where do you think we should start?”

“I think we should pinpoint where the demon is first, just to make sure where he’s at when we start picking off his army. You both have your weapons?” Kagome asked while shrugging. They nodded.

“Let’s split up. We’ll attack this army from all sides.” Inuyasha suggested.

“Good idea, just wait for my signal before you start killing.” Kagome teased.

“Okay, come on. We came to kill not to have afternoon tea!” Kiba responded anxiously.

“Meeoww! Someone’s in a hurry! Alright, posts!” with that said from Kagome, the other two dashed to each side of the army. “Okay Kagome, you know you can do this. Just focus on your objective and all this’ll turn out alright.” She focused in on the crowd to find the youkai that is to guard the group. She took a deep breath of air and found the scent of wolf under the inhumane smell.

She took out her South dagger and pointed it to the sky saying “Fire spin!” she watched the flame soar into the sky. As quickly as the flame started, it ended as Kagome tucked the dagger away and started throwing shurikan at the nearest targets. There was sudden screaming as she started to plunge her sword into the soldiers. She spun just in time to clash swords with a little bit larger of a male than the others. While she battled the one in front of her, she side kicked another into a tent. Patience wearing thin, Kagome quickly slashed her sword across the guy’s chest then lopped off his head. Satisfied, Kagome spun and attacked another target. Very faintly, she heard Inuyasha counting off his kills.

“29, 30!” he yelled. Kagome cursed under her breath. She got ahead start and she only got to 19! Hell would freeze over before she was going to buy the drinks for those idiots! She took out her west and south blades; desperate times call for desperate measures.

Pointing the South blade to the crowd of soldiers, she yelled “Fire spin!” A burst of flames shot from the small dagger and set the men a flame. “That’s 27!” she said, smirking. Spinning around to see a group of soldiers hurdling towards her, Kagome swung her arm around towards the group yelling, “Earth daggers!” Suddenly a large clump of dirt rose into the air and turned into at least 20 sharp looking kunai. Kagome watched them soar through the air and pierce the soldiers’ hearts. “35!” she shouted as she saw a clad figure in red swing the Tetsuseiga to decapitate two men.

“40!” he shouted back. Kagome felt her temper rise at the thought of him gaining two more for every one she killed.

“That’s it! Flaming Vortex!!!” A large twister of fire spewed from the tiny dagger and sucked in anything near. She snorted at the sight of the vortex pulling in 12 men. “48!” she shouted as she decapitated another body. She suddenly felt a pair of hands wrap around her throat. Panicking, she tried to shake him off her back but the guy held on. “Persistent bastard!” she choked out as his grip increased. Without warning, a sharp pain escaped from her side as warm liquid ran down her leg. All patience lost, Kagome rammed the back of her head into the guy’s nose. Taking advantage to his loose grip, Kagome reached for his head and heard a clean break as she twisted his neck. Smirking, she found Kiba and Inuyasha standing in front of her. “So, how many did you guys kill?” she asked, challenging them to say they had more than her.

Inuyasha’s teeth glinted in the fire light as he smiled and said “45.”

Kiba cursed “Damn, I got 49!” Kagome smiled that she got more.

“48 boys.” Inuyasha shrugged.

“Well Kiba, it looks like you’re buying the drinks.”

“The hell I am! We still have to kill the demon or have you forgotten?” Kiba yelled in his defense.

“Well, if we do find the demon, who ever finds him first must fight him alone without interference, understood?” Kagome stated.

“Crystal.” They said in unison.

“Okay, let’s split up and search him out. If we’re lucky, he’ll come to us. Oh, and he counts as 7 humans.” Kagome reminded. Excited that there was a chance that Inuyasha would buy the drinks, Kiba bounded off with Akamaru at his side. Inuyasha winked and leapt off to catch a scent. Kagome stood and tried to remember if she had caught a hint before the battle had started. Now that she thought about it, she did recall the scent of a wolf demon. A very familiar wolf demon. Before she could think, a pair of arms wrapped around her waist, binding her arms to her sides as a husky whisper reached her ears.

“You look even sexier than when we first met.”

Author’s note: Sorry guys. I can’t post up the pairings if others don’t want me to. They haven’t replied saying they want it up here and besides, it’ll probably ruin the story! Anyways, I hope you have enjoyed this chapter and I will post another soon! Thank you for your comments on how I could improve or keep the story the way it is. It was really helpful.
