Question for the wise: You ever wonder why Blood dries Black?

~

Wine colored locks were sticking to a matching liquid. The injured boy had been awake for quite a while, but he couldn't bring himself to stand up. He knew he was in danger, but with his senses stretched out as far as they could go, he knew he was in unfamiliar territory.

In the distance, he heard metal clanging against metal. Was a battle going on? He smelt blood around him. It was thick with his own; two scents he didn't recognize and one he knew all to well and was almost dripping from the air.

Kuwabara's

Kurama hoisted himself up, holding onto his side. He knew a good majority of the ribs on his left flank were broken; he didn't need a doctor to figure that out.
Though bleeding and broken, the red haired fox limped towards Kuwabara's faint energy signature.

When Kurama found the orange haired boy, he almost winced at the sight. The larger teen was bleeding from several large wounds in his chest, some minor cuts on his arms, and a deep gash on his leg. He made a note that the boys arm appeared to be dislocated.

He grimaced.

There was a high chance if Kuwabara didn't receive medical attention immediately, he would die within minutes.

Kurama cursed uncharacteristically and hoisted the boy on his shoulders. He was in a foreign land, a battle was going on nearby, he himself was badly injured and his friend was dieing.

This day was turning out great.

So with a long and heavy sigh, Kurama made his way through the forest, being careful to be as silent as possible.

After all, it would suck to be attacked now wouldn't it?

Naruto was holding up a kunai, out of breathe, slightly bleeding, but grinning broadly. “Oy! Sasuke-teme! Up for another round?!” He panted out, pleased to see the boy opposite of him just as tired.

Ignoring the blond, he held up his hand, onyx eyes sweeping over the surroundings slowly turning red into the Sharigan. “We have company” He mouthed, eyes turning to the side.

Naruto nodded, Blue eyes turning towards a specific part of the words, grin playing on his face as usual.

A red mass emerged from the woods, With the Kyuubi enhancing his senses; he knew death was hanging loosely around it.

Green eyes blinked wearily from underneath the mop of red hair, “Hello…”

Then the red mass, now affirmed to be two people, promptly unloaded the bigger mass he was holding then passed out.

Naruto blinked, a sense of familiarity tugging at his stomach. He looked at Sasuke, who shrugged.
The both walked simultaneously towards the two fallen forms and picked them up.

“Back to Konoha?”

“No, to the lake, we're going to have a picnic.”

“Sarcastic-Teme!”

Kurama, rolled over, groaning softly. Emerald eyes peering through half-closed lids. He was in a cell. And an annoying noise was coming towards his left.

He blinked fully and sat up, a little too quickly though, causing a shock of pain to rack through his body. He bit his lip hard, waiting for the pain to subside, resulting in a bleeding bottom lip. Great, another thing to add to the `stupid' list.

“Hey! This is like a family reunion, the fox is here too!” A cocky voice sprang, one Kurama's sensitive ears picked up while he was semi-conscious, Aka: The annoying noise.

“Hello Yusuke” Kurama said softly, hand going to his side and cautiously moving towards the side of the cage.

He felt the strong desire to break the lock and escape, not liking the bars in front of him.

“So the other one is awake” A voice drifted down to them “Maybe he'll want to talk instead”

Yusuke groaned, “Oh no, it's the old hag again…”

Emerald eyes swept up and looked at the descending woman, she held a dignified air. Like she was important.

She reminded him of Koenma.

“Who are you” She first asked, walking down briskly, no introductions, just the question.

Emerald eyes looked at Yusuke; he was pointedly looking away, letting him to speak. Kurama sighed.

“We have no obligation to speak of ourselves before you speak of yourself” He calmly answered, looking into the ember depths.

They seemed to smile, “Your orange haired friend may wish for you to”

Yusuke's head swiveled around, “Kuwabara?!” His chocolate eyes wide.

The lady smiled triumphantly, walking over to Yusuke with soft clicks of her high heels.
“So, that's one of your names…” She smiled, her cherry colored lips turned in a devilish smile.

If Kurama didn't have the dignity he was known for he would have slapped his forehead and punched Yusuke on the head.

But he had his dignity, so he didn't resort to those measures.

Yet.

He trained his eyes on the woman before him, not blinking, “You are correct, He is our friend, and he is badly injured.” He spoke quietly, not diverting his emerald gaze from the golden one. “My name is Kurama, my friends are Yusuke” He pointed towards him, “And Hiei”

The woman nodded, obviously pleased. “What village are you from, and why are you so bloody.”

Kurama shrugged, knowing one of his eyes was now covered in dried blood, the dark purple mound flaking off on his shoulder; it was a rather unpleasant feeling. The lady was speaking again, drawing Kurama's attention back towards her. “We aren't from any village.”

Her ember eyes widened fractionally in shock, then narrowing to diamonds, “Then where do you come from.” She demanded, blond hair hanging limply from her shoulders.

“We're from Tokyo Japan.” Yusuke put in. The teen was growing restless from the confines of the prison cell and was more then willing to show and tell. “We were fighting this demon guy, beat him, he came back as a zombie, beat us, there was a weird bright light, and we ended up here.”

Kurama sighed, a sweatdrop running down his head to his shoulders. He should have known Yusuke would throw caution to the wind at a crucial moment. He turned back to the tall woman, looking for any hints that she might turn violent.

“Demon?” The woman asked, alarm running in her voice, “Where, and you faught him, then BEAT him?!”

“Yes.”

Hiei had craned his neck up, meeting the woman's eyes in a heated glare. This was the first time he had truly spoken. Red eyes flicking around his surroundings. “Didn't you hear that we lost.” He stated, voice deadpan.

Yusuke nodded, “We were close to beating him though! Just a couple of more punches would've done the job!”

The woman put a hand to her forehead, scratching her painted nails on her forehead, “What did the demon look like?” She asked, after a long silence.

“Big guy” Yusuke said with a smirk, jumping to his feet and motioning with his hands, “About this tall and wide!” he held his arms out, making over exaggerated motions. “He had long black hair, pale skin, y'know, the works.”

“He took on a human shape.” Kurama added helpfully. He knew first hand that it was almost impossible trying to understand the language `Yusuke'.

The woman rubbed her temples and walked to their cages, unlocking them. “My name is Tsunande, I am the Ruler in the land of fire. Also known as the Hokage.”

“The land of fire?” Yusuke asked, then turning to Hiei he slapped the little demon on the back. “Perfect place for you, eh shrimp?!”

The hiki youkai glared at him, not answering.

“We'll talk later.” Tsunande said shortly, opening a thick metal door and stepping through it. “Until then, follow me, tell me everything about this demon.”
