Naruto said hello to the girls and apologized for the collision course. He promised to find them so they could all catch up some time. He began running just as fast as before, if not faster. Then he did what you all should’ve already guessed… he ran into someone else… literally. “Oof!” Naruto and the person he ran into tumbled to the ground but before they even touched dirt, sand swirled around them, protecting them from the impact of the fall. “Ugh… my head…” He sat up slowly and rubbed his head.

“Get off me…” Said a low voice below him.

Naruto blinked a couple times then looked at what he was sitting on. “Crap!” He stood up quickly then held out his hand to help the man he fell on. He then noticed the familiar hat that signified that he was a kage. ‘Great! This is all I need!!!’ He panicked. “I’m very sorry!” He said quickly. He looked closer at the hat. ‘What’s the Kazekage doing in Konoha?? Isn’t the Kazekage the kage of Sunagakure??’

The Kazekage stood up slowly without the aid of the hand held out to him. He stood up straight and brushed off the dirt on his clothes. Then their eyes met. Naruto’s eyes widened, along with the Kazekage’s. They were both stunned. The Kazekage was completely speechless. Finally Naruto’s expression turned to one of joy and excitement. “No way! Gaara! You’re Kazekage! Congratulations! It’s great to see you again!” Naruto said loudly.

Gaara just kept staring. “…”

“What? Don’t you recognize me? … Do I have something stuck in my teeth?” Naruto scratched at his teeth self-consciously.

Finally Gaara relaxed. A small smirk crossed his face, yet his eyes were sad. “Naruto… It’s been four years…”

Naruto smirked. “Yeah, I know. We ended up staying an extra year because I wanted to finish learning a complicated jutsu. That’s basically what I’ve been doing for about 95% of last year.” He scratched the back of his head and chuckled a little.

“But… Uchiha said you were dead.”

Naruto suddenly got angry. “That stupid lie got all the way to Suna?!”

Gaara nodded. “There was a funeral here in Konoha for you and Jiraiya and I had a memorial statue built and placed in the very center of Suna for you and Jiraiya.”

“Great. Now I feel horrible. You all went through so much only to find out that I’m really alive. Sasuke’s such a jerk…”

“Naruto, weather you’re alive or not that memorial is not coming down. You both deserve it. You’ve saved my life. You could murder someone and that thing won’t be coming down anytime soon. To tell you the truth, I always suspected that something was a little up with Hokage-sama’s story.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow it down there… what’d you just say?”

“Uh… I’m never gunna take down the memorial?”

“No after that.”

“I always suspected something was a little up with Hokage-sama’s story?”

“Yes! Now what do you mean Hokage-sama? PLEASE don’t tell me you’re talking about the same guy I am…”

“Uh-oh… you don’t know…”

Naruto started shaking in anger. “…… Don’t know what?”

Gaara sighed. Naruto was not going to like this. “Sasuke added another bullshit twist to his story.”

“What do you mean?”

“He brought back a dead body with a very well concealed jutsu used to make it look like a very beaten up version of you. Then he used the same jutsu to make it look like he just fought off a full army of ninja. He claimed to have tried to save you from being killed by Orochimaru but he arrived only in time to see the final blow. He said that Orochimaru disappeared after that and he ran up to you and you were hardly breathing. Then he said you used your last breath to tell him that you wanted him to become Hokage for you. And well Tsunade didn’t have any proof that he was wrong. She and I both sent out hundreds of search parties for you but all came up empty. After about a month we had no choice but to give up and accept the cruel fate. When she asked about Jiraiya Sasuke said that Jiraiya was no where to be found and was probably already dead.”

“… So Tsunade made him Hokage?!” Naruto was almost crying in frustration. Suddenly this bullshit lie had an all new twist to it.

“Well, she was retiring last year anyways. She had told me that she planned to make you Hokage when you arrived home last year but you never came. So when Sasuke showed up with a dead body that looked like you and, supposedly, your last wish, she had no choice but to believe him. She told me that you were almost like a little brother, or even a son, to her so what she thought was your last wish, did not go ignored.” Gaara hated having to tell him this.

Naruto looked at the ground in anger. A tear fell from his cheek. As soon as it hit the ground Naruto got a sudden feeling. The feeling of weakness flew through his body. It sent a crashing reality to his brain that the fact that one of his best friends completely lied and stole his dream had definitely hit home. Gaara put a hand on Naruto’s shoulder in a futile effort to relax him at least a little. Gaara had stopped smirking a long time ago. Suddenly red chakra swirled around Naruto as Naruto clenched his fists. The unimaginable amount of chakra made massive winds swirling around them. It blew off Gaara’s hat and Naruto’s headband. Gaara braced himself against it and tried his best to stay in the same spot and still hold onto Naruto’s shoulder. Naruto looked up at him and his eyes were a blood red and his whisker marks were more defined. “How dare he. . .” Naruto’s voice mixed with the sinister voice of the fox demon. He started to slowly walk towards the Hokage tower. He glared angrily in it’s direction. Random people walking in the streets ran to hide in terror. Gaara jumped in his way and held his shoulders back.
“Naruto! You need to calm down! We’re not going to be able to fix this unless you calm down! Have some self control!” Gaara shouted.

Naruto continued walking. Pushing Gaara forward as well. He tried using his sand to help brace himself and push back with more force but Naruto didn’t even slow down. He just kept going. Gaara actually started to break out into a sweat. ‘Well that training definitely made him stronger! Maybe too strong.’ Suddenly Naruto growled and broke out into a full on sprint completely knocking Gaara out of the way.

“This isn’t good.”
