<Gaara's POV>
We are in Konoha again. Suna and Konoha have a tentative alliance once again since the failed attack. My father, though I never thought of him as such, is now dead and I'm here to negotiate with the Hokage about the alliance. It's late at night and since I don't need sleep, I left my “siblings” at the place where we are staying. I peek in other people windows to see what they do. I even looked in Naruto's window, but he's not home.
*Rumble* I look up at the night sky to see the clouds grow more ominous. *Drip, Drip*
`Just great,' I growl to myself.
It starts to rain lightly forcing me to walk on the ground to seek shelter from the rain under a shelter by Naruto's apartment.
“Ga…ara-sa…ma,” stammers a voice.
My sand hisses as I turn to the voice. My eyes narrow causing the woman to flinch. She's wearing an oversized jacket over her small frame. Her dark hair falls short of her headband that is tied around her neck. I straighten and cross my arms to glare at her. I see that she has a black umbrella to keep her dry though why I would care, I don't know.
“Who are you?” I ask growling. `Go away!' “What are you doing out this late at night?”
“Hy…uuga, Hi..na…ta,” she stammers. “I just…(plays with her fingers) returned from reporting to Tsunade-sama.” Her voice is very soft and I have to strain to hear it. “Where's your umbrella, Gaara-sama?”
I slightly flinch at her use of the honorific. “Gaara,” I say. “Just call me Gaara.”
“Gaara,” she repeats, “san.”
I'm fine with that. She looks at her umbrella then at me then at the umbrella again. She bites her lower lip in thought. My eyes narrow at her. My sand hisses.
/Let's kill her. She's ALL alone. No one will notice./
`Shut up!'
/I don't know. She's kind of cute. Let's make her ours./
`Shut UP!'
/*Pout* Whatever, kid. Let me know if something interesting happens./
A hand gently touches my wrist. I snap out of my thoughts and see the Hyuga /Hinata/ looking at me with a shy smile.
“I can…share my um…bre…lla with you,” she stammers as I look at her in shock. “Are you hun…gry?”
*Grumble* I groan in my head over my weakness. She lightly pulls my wrist.
“Stop that,” I growl and watch her jump. She doesn't seem afraid…only nervous. `Why does she not fear me? Doesn't she know I can kill her with a mere thought? She seen what I can do. Why is she doing this?'
<Hinata's POV>
I'm walking from Tsunade-sama's office after my shift with the hospital. Ever since the war started on Sound, we need more medics. Sakura and I have just volunteered to train under Tsunade-sama. Our first day of work at the hospital is over. We had to go to Tsunade-sama's office to let her know how we did, though she probably already knows. Since I thought it would rain, I brought my umbrella. I was right. It starts to lightly rain when I left the office. I walk along the road to my apartment. I am glad that Tsunade-sama was able to get me out of my house. I no longer have to worry about my father. He disowned me and Hinabi is now the heiress. There was a brief scuffle over the fact that I was leaving and my father not having any control over me. It came close for if Tsunade-sama came but a second later I would now have the seal. I owe her my freedom. I sigh and watch the rain fall. I see a lone figure in the distance. `OH! It's Gaara-sama. He doesn't seem to have an umbrella.' He notices me. His sand hisses.
“Who are you?” he asks growling. “What are you doing out this late at night?”
“Hy…uuga, Hi..na…ta,” I stammer. `Darn. I'm stammering again.' “I just…(I plays with my fingers) returned from reporting to Tsunade-sama. Where's your umbrella, Gaara-sama?”
He slightly flinches at my use of the honorific. “Gaara,” he says. “Just call me Gaara.”
“Gaara,” I repeat, but it seems odd so I add, “san. “I can…share my um…bre…lla with you. Are you hun…gry?”
*Grumble* I look at Gaara and then lightly pull his wrist.
“Stop that,” he growls and I jump.
I'm not afraid of him now…only nervous. He makes me feel like I did when I still had my crush on Naruto-san. I still love him to a degree, but more as a friend now. He and Sakura have helped me to lose my stutter and when I left my home. As we eat, he is silent. It's eerie and the other patrons start to edge out the door. Soon the place is empty except for the workers and Gaara and I. When we finished, I placed money on the table to pay for the food. I get up and Gaara follows me silently out. The rain has gotten even harder now. I open the umbrella, look back at Gaara, and slightly smile.
“Let's go, Gaara,” I say quietly, testing his name. It seems odd without an honorific, but I think I can do it.
We walk together once again in the rain. I listen to it patter on my umbrella. I look out the corner of my eyes at Gaara. His face is emotionless, but his eyes seem to reveal his uneasiness. Over what? Probably over having to be so close to someone, even if it's too avoid getting wet. We get to where he and his siblings are staying.
“Here we are Gaara-san,” I say with a smile. “Have a good night.”
He bows at his waist and I blink in shock. He quickly smirks and the smirk disappears. He reaches into his pocket I got slightly suicidal.
“Gaara?” I say shyly.
He stops in his search and looks at me. I push my forefingers together and blush. I then approach him, stood on my toes and kiss him on the cheek. His eyes widen to unimaginable proportion and while he was in shock I did an Instant Teleportation jutsu and got away. I appear in my apartment and…
“OH MY GOD!” I shriek. “I cannot believe I did that.”
I sit on my bed in shock. I cannot believe I kissed Gaara on the cheek. My eyelids start to get heavy as my fatigue catches up with me. I then lay down to sleep and in my dreams a red headed man becomes the main focus.
