Chapter 1: Rivalry

Uchiha's are meant to be, Cold, Stubborn, Unemotional, Dark and Mysterious. What are silly feelings for? They certainly don't need them but they also don't get crushes or fall in love. They do choose Rivals though. Rival means, to stand in competition with; to strive to gain some object in opposition or to be equal to in quality or ability, Right. Uchiha Sasuke never forgot one of the main traditions of his great clan, He was to choose a Rival out of the whole Ninja academy the day he became a Student there. And thus He did but he did not know the true tradition until many years after.

Years had passed since Sasuke had joined they Academy and had now became a Genin, Much to his distaste and pleasure his Rival had also became a Genin and was even on Sasuke's team as well as an annoying Fan girl which didn't bother him to much. His Rival was the opposite of him; As He had Raven black hair his rival had the brightest blonde hair around. Instead of cold onyx eyes he had bright sparkling blue, and his taste of clothes (if you could call it taste) was bright, neon orange with blue on his shoulders and a large white collar. This was defiantly something an Uchiha would never wear. Yes Sasuke choose none other then Konoha's number one hyper active knuckle headed ninja Uzumaki Naruto.

To Naruto the challenge of a rival was great news but also a shock at first, he heard rumours of another person like him. Some one else with no mother and father at home to welcome him home. Some else that knew the loneliness he did, some one he could possibly call a friend when they met. But to his surprise the person said to him that they where rivals and he was a weak loser. This hurt, yes, but it made him stronger and gave him more reason to prove to the Village and Sasuke that he was going to be the next Hokage. To be like the man who had Sealed the Nine tailed fox in him and surpass him.

He trained he fought and played pranks over the years until he became a Genin. He still trained and fought but the pranks slowly died away. The main things that meant the most to him were; To be Hokage, Ramen, prove to everyone he was not a monster, to get people to care and to get Sasuke to notice him. This began to become and obsession over many years. As he trained with his team he met many new friends and enemies, but it was not what he wanted. No matter how much he tried he thought he was not catching up with his rival, still he trained on.

 

Day by day, they train and completed mission. Never faltering at challenging each other or seeing who was better at doing some thing. Even with the mission to protect Tazuna the bridge builder, But with the near death situation of Sasuke. Something seemed to have changed between the two. With the Chunnin Exams brought new friends and enemies. As well as new Rivals for Naruto but not in the same way as him and Sasuke. These Rivals wanted the demon carrying blonde for there own. Plotting to gain the blonde's heart even if it killed them. That is till a Certain Uchiha started getting protective over him.

 

It was a day like every other. Sasuke had gotten up at the crack of dawn to train, Naruto was yet to wake up. Kakashi-Sensei was already at the Memorial Stone remembering his closet friends. Though Unlike the days before a shadow was perched in front of the window to Naruto's bed room. His eyes glued to the sleeping form watching ever twitch to how he turned. Even with the dark Curtain blocking the window tracking the sleeping ninja was an easy task for this Shinobi. His pearly eyes focused as the veins protruded from around them, crouched on his perch, black hair flowing down his back.

 

Mauve eyes tracked the sudden falling ramen cups tat feel from the Blondes bed, a small smile on his lip. Ever since the Chunnin exams he had grown to respect this fellow Ninja. The only Genin in their village to be able to defeat him, the one that showed him destiny is not written in stone and even a caged bird can be freed. This ninja planned to gain the blonde ninja as his own, No one would stand in his way not even a main branch member of his clan. Sighing Hyuuga Neji straighten his posture up as he slow descend from his perch to the streets below and walking to the meet spot of his team.

 

A sleepy groan echoed through the room, growling at the noise ringing at in his ears. A ramen cake arm flung out from under the ramen cups and blankets to slam down on the alarm clock that was flash bright red numbers. Slowly sitting up and sleepy hand moved and rubbed the sleep away from cerulean eyes. Damn Sakura for Buying that annoying thing. I'm not late not like Sensei she should have given it to him not me. Groaning the number one hyper active knucklehead ninja stagged to the bathroom to wash the crusty substance the ramen soup had dried into during the night and glued his pj's to him.

 

First to the bridge like normal was Uchiha Sasuke, Raven Hair been tossed slightly in the breeze as he leant against the banister waiting on the rest of his group. All of last night he stood pouring through the Uchiha library, Teaching him self all the traditions his Father was not able to teach him before the massacre. One of them made him smirking in memory of the first day at the academy. The day the blonde Dobe became his Rival. Onyx eyes slide shut arms folded just remembering not noticing the entrance of the only female member on his on his squad. The pinkett was mentally and physically drooling at the sight of Sasuke, what was better there was no Annoying loud mouthed idiot around to ruin her chance of either day dreaming or getting close to the Avenger.

 

“Hey Sakura!... Teme” Called a voice as Soon as she had slid up close to the ravenett, a Vein bulged from her large forehead. Green eyes twitched but pretend to be nice. “Morning Naruto”. Sasuke in turn did his usual greeting of “hn”. Hours passed and the team slowly started to grow restless. “gah he's late again!” the frantic blonde yelled out shift foot from foot in his spot he claimed. “No duh Naruto he always is, maybe we should start coming later?” Sakura sight rubbing her temples at the 10th outburst from Naruto that day. “the day we do that he would turn up early” growled the blonde , huffing he fold his arms and pouted as a flare of chakra and grey smoke filled the area “ sorry I'm late guys. You see a Squirrel got stuck up a tree and need to be rescued ” The silver headed Jounin chuckled and scratched the back of his head sheepishly as he paused for the usual outburst from Sakura and Naruto.

 

“this Squad and Gai's where given today to relax at the local hot springs because Gai and myself will be leaving for a mission this afternoon, that will take up to maybe two weeks to complete so you get those days off to do whatever you want. I suggest training” Kakashi sighed out after getting the outburst to settle down. Naruto eyes grew brighter at the thought of a holiday away from the Save the cat and babysitting mission “YEAH! Lets go!” he yelled as bounce about before been clanked on the head and slammed in to the bridge by Sakura, “Naruto that means you have to calm down!”. Sasuke and Kakashi both shook their heads before walking to the hot springs.

 

Slowly time passed and they arrived late to the Hot springs, Naruto was practically beaming as he enter to be blinded by a radiating smile of both Might Guy and Rock lee.

“HOW ARE MY YOUTHFULL FRIENDS THIS FINE DAY!!” Lee announced to the whole hot springs as hugged Naruto. Naruto cringed and tried to pry himself away as to stoic boys growled in their heads at someone hugging Naruto.

 

Sasuke a little surprised by his action shrugged it off, before heading to get changed, “Lee I do not think Naruto can breath” The hyuuga stated at the rather pretty shade of blue Naruto was turn from the Taijutsu masters bear hug. Lee gasped letting the blonde go apologising over before been swatted off. Neji shook his head before following Sasuke happier knowing the blond was not been handled by another.

 

Unannounced another had begun his Journey to claim the unwitting blonde. No would not be Answer. It would be death if any other would stand in this Shinobi way. For he was going to get what he wanted, even if it meant a war.

 

 

{A/n. Okay this is my First full fledge Fanfic not just a small one shot. When I first started this I had the whole story planned out, but with the troubles and computer problems over the time between the first three chapters and this rewrite I lost it. So I Hope my old readers and the new like this rewrite. Sakura will not be in the fanfic often, I Have a small dislike against her in the early series where this is based. Please keep the Reviews not downgrading and I will happily update when I can.}
