Deidara entered him room, feeling extremely tired. Tobi was there, reading a book. It was really strange for him to be reading, since he just didn't seem like the type of guy who would spend his afternoon deep into a book. Deidara smiled noticing he was reading “The Invention of Solitude” by Paul Auster, since he himself has recommended the author.
“Hello senpai!” Tobi greeted enthusiastically as soon as he saw Deidara.
“Hey Tobi, un,” Deidara said tenderly. “I see you are reading Paul Auster.”
“Of course! Its senpai recommended!” Tobi screeched. “Also, its really interesting and very well written, Tobi thinks so.”
Once again Deidara smiled, as he sat next to Tobi. They were both sitting on the masked man's bed, their backs leaning against the wall. Tobi had gotten back to the book, while Deidara simply looked around, trying to rest a bit.
Tobi looked at Deidara; he had lost all his concentration by having him in the same room. It was really hard not to look at him, he was so beautiful. Deidara's blue eyes were closed, so his long eyelashes were softly touching his rosy cheeks. His small mouth was a bit pouted, but Tobi was sure no one other than him will notice that. For Tobi, there was no one else who could compare to the beauty he has witnessing in this instant.
“Tobi, un,” Deidara whispered.
The boy jumped at the sound of his name, but easily regained composure. “Yes, senpai?”
“Can I hold your hand?” he asked, his cheeks getting redder.
Tobi blushed behind his mask and smiled. His hand reached his, which was softly placed on the mattress. It was warm and soft, and the way Deidara held his made him feel protected and refreshed. It was such a wonderful moment.
“Why did you stop reading?” Deidara asked, opening his eyes to look at Tobi carefully.
“Oh, I just couldn't concentrate anymore,” he answered. “Since you came.”
“Then its better if I leave you alone, yeah,” Deidara said, standing up.
“No wait!” Tobi screamed with a voice that wasn't childish at all. In fact, it was very manly yet soothing.
Deidara looked at him oddly. “Excuse me?”
Tobi coughed. “I'm sorry, I think I forced my voice,” he said in his childish voice.
He eyed him slowly. “Umm… Sure yeah, whatever.”
Tobi cursed his insides as soon as Deidara exited the room. Yeah right, like he would believe his voice suddenly changed for forcing it. He had screwed it, definitely.
It had been about a week since Tobi last saw Deidara. For some strange reason, they hadn't had any missions and Deidara had taken the chance to be as far away as possible. Tobi knew it was his fault, Deidara had finally figured out he was hiding something. Tobi wouldn't really mind telling him the truth, if it wasn't because he knew Deidara would hate him for it.
