Chapter Five: Sleeping On the Floor
Sasuke rested his head against his arm, propping it up and pressing his chin against his palm. It was about 11:30 at night, and Temari was taking a shower in the other room. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. But they kept getting glazed over and falling out of focus. Sasuke directed his attention back to his book. But in five minutes he became sleepy again.
He heard a door slam shut. Then a few moments of silence. Some rustling.
Temari pushed his bedroom door open, still toweling her hair dry. Sasuke looked away and stared at the book.
Not a perv, not a perv, not a perv…
“Don't worry, I'm not naked.” Temari stated, as if reading his mind. She started humming some random tune as she went over to Sasuke's book shelf, pulling out and pushing in books.
Almost impulsively, he took a quick glance. He almost fell out of his chair.
“W-what the hell are you wearing…? Those are my….”
Temari blinked and looked down, as if wondering why he was so surprised.
“Mmm, I'm wearing your black boxers, your very big, very comfortable white t-shirt.” She said, pointing to each article of clothing.
“I'm glad you're a boxer guy,” she continued, combing her hair with her fingers.
“If you wore briefs…” She shuddered.
Sasuke blinked. Temari started humming again.
“My clothes…you're wearing my clothes….”
You're wearing my boxers…
When did she get a hold of them?
Temari pulled open one of his dresser drawers. Sasuke heard her make a “Tch” sound.
She pulled up one of his black shirts, waving it around the air.
“Boy, you should add some color to your wardrobe,” she said sarcastically, pulling out some other things.
Sasuke felt the tips of his ears burn. He slammed the stupid book on the table and snatched his clothes away from Temari's hands.
“I like those colors,” he snarled, glaring.
“I like those colors,” he snarled, glaring.
“Don't go through my things!”
Temari raised a brow, obviously amused now.
“Or what?” she sneered, a smug look on her face.
Acting on childish rage, Sasuke lunged at Temari. They both toppled onto the floor, struggling and swearing at each other.
“What is your deal, woman?!”
“What is yours?! You always act like you have some lemon shoved up your ass! Go out and hug a tree or something!”
“You arrogant—“
Ring.
Ring.
The two squabbling teenagers looked over at the phone, sitting on the corner of Sasuke's desk. The green light was flashing.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
“Aren't you gonna pick that up?” Temari asked, pointing to the phone.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Sasuke had his back turned on her. He had his head in his hands, sighing and rubbing his neck. He shook his head.
Ring.
Ring.
Ri—blip.
“Sasuke Uchiha is not available at the phone right now. Please leave a message after the beep.”
Beep.
“…Sasuke-kun!! It's Sakura!!”
Sasuke started hitting his head against the wall. Temari stared at the phone.
“Umm, well, today, Ino came up to me and was all, “Sasuke likes me better!” And I was all, “No!” and she was all “Yes!” So I was like, “No!!” and she was like, “Yes!!” and then I said, “NOO!!” and she said, “YESS!!” then she kept saying that I had a big forehead, so I like, totally called her a pig, then we started talking about you for a while, but then she brought up the whole “Sasuke likes me better” thing, and we were all like, “YES/NO YES/NO YES/NO YES/NO!!” and then we totally got mad at each other, and I told her that you liked me better, so yeah....”
There was a short pause.
“…So tomorrow, when we see Ino, could you let me um…uh…[nervous giggle] hold your hand? I just want to make her jealous…also umm, would you like to eat lunch together, without that stupid baka, Naruto? Umm, well…call me back later then, Okay? Bye!!”
[silence]
Temari stared at the phone before looking back at Sasuke.
“And you get that everyday from her?!”
He had his forehead against the wall. A grunt was his reply.
Temari peeked over the desk of the answering machine. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head.
“72 UNHEARD MESSAGES?!”
Temari slumped against the wall beside Sasuke.
“You really are Konoha's #1 heartthrob”
Sasuke turned his head and gave a smirk.
“Too bad I don't like those creepy fan girls.
Temari snickered and brought her knees to her chest.
“Heartbreaker,” she teased, grinning.
Sasuke tilted her head upwards, still keeping his eyes on hers. He had a slight smile on his lips.
“What, you're not Sand Villages' little pretty princess?”
Temari scoffed.
“Right, me, a princess.” She rolled her eyes, “As if I wa—wait!”
Temari turned to Sasuke, her dark green eyes sparkling mischievously.
“Does Sasuke-chan think I'm a pretty princess?” she squealed, clasping her hand over her cheeks and batting her eyelashes.
Sasuke mentally cursed himself when he felt his cheeks grow warm. He knew he was blushing.
He knew she knew he was blushing, because she started to grin widely.
Stupid woman's just trying to mess with my mind…
“I…uh…you're--” Sasuke stammered.
Damn…
He wanted to hit himself. He didn't like it when he stammered: It made him look like a stupid moron.
Temari grinned and hugged Sasuke's neck, gagging him.
“Awww, Sasuke-chan!” she squealed, squeezing him harder, “You're so cute!”
Sasuke couldn't even scowl.
Air…
Need. Air…
Temari released him and laughed, flicking his forehead.
“So, when're am I sleeping?” she asked, starting to take a strand of his hair and braiding it. Sasuke swatted her hand away. “On the floor, next to the bed.” He muttered, pointing at the dark blue sleeping bag set there.
Temari stared at the spot, the corner of her lip twitching.
“Ha-ha…I hate you.” She muttered underneath her breath, trudging herself over.
[-----&&-----]
About half an hour later, Sasuke shut off the light. Outside was a full moon, its silvery light streaming through the window. Sasuke stared up at the veiling, arms folded behind his heat. He watched at the dancing shadows, and listened to Temari's soft breathing below him. Sasuke turned on his side. He heard rain drops splatter. Temari mumbled in her sleep. Rain continued to thud around outside. Sasuke closed his eyes. God, he was exhauseted. Why did Temari have to take so long blow drying her hair?!
Geeze…
Temari mumbled again and Sasuke yanked the blanket tighter around him.
Damn…
I feel a chill. Did I leave the window open?
Cold drops of water fell on his face. Sasuke opened one eye lazily.
They snapped open.
He opened his mouth to yell, to call out, scream, something! But nothing came.
The man with pale skin and dark hair. Those Sharingan forever embedded into his eyes, a slow sneer creeping upon the intruders face.
“Sasuke.” He whispered, “Aren't you going to say hello to your nii-san?”
=D thank you for the reviews.
I'm kinda on a urge for a TenTen/Neji fanfic.
