Chapter Six
Ambushed

“Kakashi-sensei, what are we going to do?” Sakura asked, a concerned look on her face.
“I think we should try to meet up with her,” the tall grey-haired man replied.
“Okay.”
They packed up their stuff and set off toward the appointed location.
“Wait,” Kakashi said after about an hour of traveling through forest, “I don't see any landmarks…”
“Kakashi-sensei? Look,” Sakura pointed to a tree that was snapped in half. There must have been a storm. “We passed that tree before. I'm sure of it. Have we been following the map correctly?”
Kakashi didn't answer. Instead, he pushed up his forehead protector to reveal his sharingan. “This appears to be some kind of genjutsu.”
Just as the words left his mouth, a storm of kunai flew at them. Kakashi whirled around to deflect them. A kunai hit him right below the rib cage. Sakura used the smoke from the kawarimi to hide her presence as she ran in the direction the assault had come from. She slammed her fist full force into a tree, causing it to completely shatter. The woman in the tree leapt out just in time, landing right behind the pink-haired kunoichi.
“You're mine now,” the woman hissed.
Turning on her heel, Sakura quickly shifted her weight and landed a powerful kick into the woman's abdomen. The woman winced a bit. Without missing a beat she grabbed Sakura's leg with her left hand and pulled her closer. With her right fist she struck a heavy blow to her opponent's face. The impact sent Sakura flying backwards.
“Damn,” she muttered as she wiped warm blood off her bruised lip. “Where's Kakashi-sensei?”
“Looking for your friend? Well, Rokubi should be taking care of him as we speak,” the white-haired woman said.
“Roku…bi? Does that mean you're a Greater Demon?”
“Yup. The name's Sanbi Tori.”
Dammit! There's no way I can fight a demon! Sakura screamed mentally. I have to find a way to escape and help Kakashi-sensei.
“So, shall we continue our little fight?” Sanbi smiled maliciously.
Sakura recovered to a fighting stance and waited for the other woman to make a move. Sanbi ran at her, pulling out a kunai. Sakura spun, knocking the kunai out of Sanbi's hands with her heel. This time, Sanbi didn't grab her foot. She somersaulted forward, stopping part way through to push herself up using her hands. She leaned forward a bit to plant one foot on the ground and swing down the other on Sakura's head. The leaf ninja's face hit dirt. Warm blood was streaming from her nose. Sakura could feel the other woman's foot pushing her face into the ground.
Using one of the medical jutsu she had learned from Tsunade, Sakura focused chakra to her left arm and swung at Sanbi's leg.
“What did you do to my leg, bitch?” Sanbi screamed as she backed off, clutching her leg.
“I simply disconnected the nerves in your leg from your brain,” Sakura explained matter-of-factly.
“What? Is that even possible?”
“Of course. However it is a jutsu only med-nin would know. Your leg has gone completely numb which makes it impossible to use it,” Sakura coughed and stood up. “There are also jutsu that would allow me to completely mix up the messages your brain sends to your other muscles. For example, when you try to move your leg, you move your thumb,” Sakura began approaching slowly.
“Die!” Sanbi shouted.
Sakura snapped her nose back into place and healed it using medical ninjutsu.
The bird demon formed some strange seals and was engulfed in mist. When the mist cleared, in her place, stood a rather large falcon. “This is my true form,” she said, “I don't need my legs for this.”
Sanbi took flight. About 40 yards above the ground, she began to flap her wings more rapidly. Then just as suddenly as she had started, she stopped. The falcon's wings locked into place, spread apart. Her plumage began to glow the red of demonic chakra. Before Sakura could register what was happening, chakra-engulfed feathers showered down at her. She dodged rather clumsily. Where each feather had hit there had been small explosion which left many small holes in the ground. Sakura pulled out a small shuriken and threw it at the demon.
Sanbi's wings had begun flapping again, and with an extra strong flap, she blew the shuriken away. Sakura had been expecting that, but she had not been expecting Sanbi to come diving down so suddenly. Sanbi stopped just a few feet above the ground, and aimed a second exploding feather attack at the girl hiding in the trees.
Meanwhile, Kakashi was literally fighting his own battle. From where he had been hiding, he was attacked by a muscular man. From there, Kakashi had attempted to avoid the fight which was dragged to a location far from where Sakura and Sanbi were fighting.
Kakashi wiped sweat from his brow and waited for Rokubi Uma to make his next move. Apparently, this man used nothing more than brute strength. Rokubi charged blindly in Kakashi's direction. The grey-haired man easily dodged the actual punch, but was caught off guard when large bits of earth flew up and clouded his vision. Rokubi has been aiming for the ground. Using the dirt as his cover, he raised his fist and punched out at Kakashi. He wasn't able to dodge in time so Kakashi raised his arms as a barrier. When the punch connected, he could feel his arms break.
Shit! Now what am I supposed to do? Kakashi thought.
His eyes widened. Rokubi was standing right behind him. The bulky man wrapped his arms around Kakashi and squeezed tightly. It was an attempt at breaking him in half. Kakashi was pretty sure he had heard some ribs or something crack.
He was released only to be grabbed by his broken arm and slammed into the ground with immense force. A foot stomped on his back and pressed him into the ground.
Is it even possible to be this strong?

Naruto felt someone tapping his shoulder roughly.
“Naruto, you're not asleep, are you?” Kyuubi asked.
Halfway through the night, Naruto had relieved Kyuubi of his guard duties. But he had been sleeping the entire shift.
“Wake up!” Kyuubi shook him wildly.
“Nnn… Is it morning already?” the sleepy boy wanted to know.
“Yes! Now look what happened because you weren't paying attention!”
Naruto rubbed his eyes and took in his surroundings. Nothing looked different. He stood up, brushed himself off, and scratched his ass. That's when he noticed there was nothing there. All his money and weapons were gone!
“Idiot! Now how are we supposed to buy supplies in the village!”
“Geez, shut up. I'll get it back so don't get your knickers in a twist,” Naruto yawned. “The thieves probably aren't far.”
He began walking, followed closely by an angry Kyuubi. A day and a half later, they had reached the village with no luck in finding the bandits. They simply stood outside the village's gates, wondering what to do next.
“Finally made it!” Naruto heard a familiar voice say.
He turned to his left and…
“Naruto-kun! It's… been a while,” Hyuuga Hinata said softly.
Inuzuka Kiba ran over and gave him a pat on the back. Aburame Shino simply nodded in greeting. Their team leader, Kurenai, waved. Luckily, Kyuubi had been using henge no jutsu to cover up his ears and tail.
It was all there… the money and the weapons. But he still stared at the satchel Kiba had given him. They had been the ones to steal it. Kiba teased him for being such an irresponsible ninja. Everyone was sitting outside at a table at a restaurant. Including the restaurant, everything about the village was rather plain. Wooden buildings and gravel roads.
“So, Yukito-kun, how did you meet Naruto?” Kurenai tried to start up a conversation with Kyuubi but he didn't seem very interested.
“It's a long story and I don't feel like talking about it,” he replied coldly.
“I see…”
On the other hand, Kiba and Naruto were conversing animatedly, while Shino listened and Hinata blushed.
“So, what are you guys doing here?” Naruto asked.
“We're on an important mission,” Shino explained. Then before Naruto could open his mouth again, he added, “It's classified.”
“Cool!”
“I know, isn't it?” Kiba grinned.

“Err… How long do we intend to stay here?” Naruto asked staring at their very plain hotel room. All it held was a wooden table and one… double bed.
“Until we get things sorted out,” was Kyuubi's answer.
Naruto sighed and sat on the bed. He gave it a few test bounces. I guess it will have to do.
“What do you think you're doing, brat?” Kyuubi demanded.
“Testing out the bed. What does it look like, fox?”
“Why? It's not like you'll be sleeping on it,” Kyuubi smirked.
“Then where am I gonna sleep!”
“On the floor.”
“What! No way!”
“Yes way,” Kyuubi shoved Naruto aside. Angry, Naruto made to fight back but missed, causing him to lose his balance. In a desperate attempt to right him self he grabbed the nearest thing, which happened to be Kyuubi's shirt. The two toppled over and landed in a tangled mess on the floor.
Naruto opened his eyes. He was lying on his back, with Kyuubi sprawled on top of him. Kyuubi shifted a bit, trying to get up. Naruto suddenly felt hot. His face turned five shades of red.
“G-get off me, jackass!” Naruto yelled, shoving Kyuubi off of him.
“It's not like I wanted to be on you!” Kyuubi yelled back, embarrassed.
Naruto quickly turned and sat facing away. He looked down in his lap. That was close…But there's no way in hell I could be attracted to him! I hope…
“Well, we should get some supplies,” Kyuubi tried to change the subject.
“Yeah, that's a good idea,” Naruto agreed, relieved that Kyuubi wanted to forget about the incident as much as he, himself did.

Notes: Well, I've started using a new scene divider. Isn't it so much spiffier? Anyway… Some of you are probably thinking: “ZOMG! She turned Kakashi into a weakling!” No, I did not. Rokubi is EXTREMELY strong, physically. He's kinda stupid, hehe. And Sanbi isn't as strong as he is and Sakura is actually stronger, physically, than Kakashi, after her all training with Tsunade. So, naturally, Sakura's and Sanbi's power levels are closer together than Kakashi's and Rokubi's.
