“She’s escaped!” I could hear their voices behind me, but I didn’t dare stop running. After being held for twelve years in captivity, I, Ahiaa Uchiha, had escaped. I ran towards the north, where my home was. How good it would be to walk back into Konoha after all these years. I chuckled to myself as I contemplated what my family’s reaction would be when they saw me. After all, they were the ones who had sent me away. And for what reason? Because I was the only girl in the whole Uchiha clan who possessed the Sharingan eyes. Now, if I had been born a boy, there would have been no problems. As it was however, I was a girl. And women, as it was thought in the clan, were unworthy to wield the Sharingan. That’s where they were wrong. I supposed that they thought that if I was secluded from the rest of the ninja society, that I would never learn to manipulate my chakra. Boy were they ever wrong! They should have known, though, that being sent away would not have stopped me from learning. I was, after all, the first person in my clan to come into my Sharingan under the age of three. Even my older brother, Itachi, didn’t show signs of the Sharingan until he was seven. I’d overheard my guards talking about him often. They said what a great ninja he was, at such a young age. Mysteriously, however, all speak of the Uchiha’s had died away a few years ago. Then, all I ever heard about was some kid named Naruto.

But one day, about three days ago, I’d overheard something more. I had heard of the graduation from the ninja academy in the village. This is what I heard:

“I heard that they actually paired that demon child, Naruto, with that Uchiha kid. What was his name, again?”

“Sasuke, wasn’t it?”

“Oh yea! That’s right. Sasuke Uchiha. Such a shame he has to be on the same team as that Naruto…”

At that point, I had stopped listening, and started thinking. I was thinking about my family from long ago. Mom, Dad, Itachi, and…Sasuke. I was five when Sasuke had been born. That was when my father had decided to send me away. Damn him. If not for him, I would have been able to grow up with, and teach my little brother. That’s when I decided that I needed to get away from here and return to Konoha, the village of my birth.

I landed on a tree branch and stopped. I could no long sense my pursuers. I looked down at the rags I wore as clothes. I’d have to change as soon as I got into town. I continued jumping through the trees and almost cried when I saw the entrance to Konoha. The gates seemed so much smaller now somehow. I walked through them and saw two Leaf Shinobi sitting behind a wooden desk. I suddenly cursed myself for escaping during the day. To my surprise, however they didn’t say a word to me. They eyed me up and down curiously, but then looked away. I cautiously walked into town. I looked into one of the bags I swiped from my guards. In it was one hundred and fifty dollars. I almost lept in joy when I came across the first clothing department. I was a little surprised when I didn’t find anything of the Uchiha clan. I found that a little strange because I had thought that, besides the Hyuuga clan, the Uchiha clan was one of the biggest here. I dismissed the thought with a little shake of my head.

I settled on a black tee-shirt with red designs on it, and a pair of black Capri’s. The only shoes they had were a pair of black sandals, which suited me fine. I looked at the remaining balance of my stolen money. This time I actually did jump for joy, which happened to attract a few stares from the store owner. I ran out of that store and across the street to a ramen booth. I had twenty-five dollars left and I hadn’t been fed anything except for bread, cheese, and milk for twelve years. Of course, I had made good friends with one of my guards. He would sneak me in actual food every now and then. I sat down on one of the stools, next to a small boy with blonde hair and an orange suit on. He was practically inhaling his ramen.

“Can I help you, Miss?” An elderly-looking man was behind the counter looking at me curiously. “I’ve never seen you around here. Are you a traveler?”

“Yes, um, can I get whatever it is that he’s eating? It looks delicious.” I pointed at the bowl of rapidly disappearing ramen. “And, um, yes, I’m traveling from the south to visit someone.”

“Oh, yeah? Who?” The man asked as he prepared for me what I guessed was pork ramen.

“Sasuke Uchiha.”

Everything went still at his name. The pork even seemed to sizzle a little quieter. The bright orange boy beside me stopped wolfing down his meal and looked up at me.

“Uchiha, you say? And what would you be wanting with him?”

“I’m an, um, old acquaintance…” I figured that I better not say that I was his sister. After all, the people in the village most likely didn’t even know that he had a sister. The sad truth of it was that even he most likely had no idea of my existence. “I haven’t seen him in a while, so I thought I’d pay him a visit. Do you know where I could find him?”

“Sure do!” The little boy piped up and smiled at me. “But he’s not a real people person, ya know?”

“Oh, really?”

“Yep! Believe it! He’s always by himself.”

I ate my ramen and waited for the boy to finish his eighth bowl. I had to use all of my self-restraint to keep myself from dragging him out of here. He was taking so long. How could one body eat that much anyway?!

“Are you planning on taking me to him anytime today?” I asked through clenched teeth. The Uchiha’s were really not known for they’re patience.

The boy must have sensed my rising annoyance, because he quickly slurped down the remainder of his soup, and led me out of the ramen shop.

“My name’s Naruto, by-the-way.” He said smiling up at me.

“Ahh…You’re on the same squad as Sasuke.”

“Yep, how’d you know?”

“Oh, um, I just heard it somewhere.”

“Doesn’t surprise me. I’m such a great ninja. Everyone’s probably talking about me. Hey, umm…what was your name again?”

“Oh. I’m Ahiaa.” I bowed my head just a little bit.

“Nice name. Ya know…you remind me a lot of Sasuke. Why are you coming to visit him, anyway? He doesn’t get many visitors.”

“You sure ask a lot of questions, don’t you.” If this boy did not shut up, I was going to pound his face in.

“I’m just trying to figure out what kind of a person would be coming to visit him is all. I mean, he lives by himself.”

“By himself?!? What about his family?”

Naruto’s face grew somber and his eyes dropped.

“He hasn’t got any family. He’s the last of the Uchiha clan. Everyone else was massacred. That’s what I heard, anyway.”

“What?!” I almost fell over. “When did this happen?”

“A long time ago, when Sasuke was six, I think.”

I thought for amoment. That would have made me eleven. By then, I was well away from Konoha.

“I-Itachi too?” I asked wearily.

“Who’s that?”

“Sasuke’s brother, of course.” The boy’s ignorance was really wearing me thin. I didn’t think that I could keep my self-restraint for any longer.

“Oh. I didn’t even know he had a brother. Hey, you know what? You look exactly like Sasuke! Well, I mean except for the fact that you’re a girl, obviously.”

I would take it no longer. I grabbed the back of Naruto’s jacket and slung him across the street. Before he even knew what was happening, I had his kunai knife and was pressing it against his throat. He looked at me in horror. OK, so I snapped just a bit. I cursed myself inwardly for letting my impatience get the better of me like this. But oh well, since I had him scared out of his mind right now, I might as well use that to my advantage.

“Tell me where Sasuke is now! Tell me where my--”

“Who wants to know?” This was an all together different voice. It reminded me nothing of Naruto’s. This voice was cool and calm. It held, however, hidden pain and anger.

“Didn’t you hear me? I’d like to know who’s asking for me.” The anger rose in his voice towards the end of his sentence. This was definitely him. The easy manner in which he was angered could only belong to that of an Uchiha. I smiled slightly when he threw a kunai at my back. I was impressed by both his aim and speed. I turned so quickly and caught the knife that I’m sure he hadn’t even seen me move.

He aimed to kill. I would expect nothing less from an Uchiha. His eyes widened slightly when he saw that he had done no damage to me. I looked him over and a tear slid down my cheek. He had to be about only twelve, but he was already as tall as me; if not taller. I ran forward and hugged him around his neck, not caring to stop the rest of the tears that followed the first one. I could only imagine the shock on both of the boys’ faces.

“I’ve finally found you!” I felt him go rigid beneath me. Way to go Ahiaa! Scare the hell out of him, why don’t you!

“Um, Sasuke, what’s going on?” I could hear Naruto somewhere behind me.

“I, uh, don’t know. Who are you?” Even thought I knew that that question was going to come from his mouth, it absolutely crushed me to hear him say it.

I sighed and took a step back. I cleared my eyes of tears and took a professional-like tone. “My name is Ahiaa. Sasuke, I need to know what happened when you were six. What happened to your clan? Especially Itachi. As far as I know, he was one of the best. I can’t, no, I won’t believe that someone actually managed to kill him.”

Before I knew it, Sasuke had clutched the front of my shirt and pulled me forward to meet hate-filled eyes.

“That name…will NEVER come out of your mouth again!” He growled out.

Just Who the Hell did this kid think he was? Sure, he was my brother, but nobody, and I do mean nobody neither handles me like this nor gives me orders. Especially not my brother who is four years my junior. I grabbed the arm that was clutching my shirt and threw it, and the attached body flying towards the fence across the street. I had him pinned to the wooden fence by his neck before he had even touched the ground.

“You listen and you listen good. You will not give me orders. Do you understand me? Just because you think you are the last of your clan, does make you better than me. In fact, I’m better than you, by a long shot. You got that? And as to using Itachi’s name…I will say my brother’s name when, where, and how I want to. Is that clear?” I almost slapped myself as soon I said it. Way to give him more than he could chew. He had just been very brutally, very traumatically, introduced to his sister. This was not the way I had imagined this would go.

“Y-Yo-Your b-brother?! What do you mean?”

I let him fall to the ground and took a step back from him. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. When I re-opened my eyes, I looked straight into the face of Sasuke, my little brother. His eyes were wide. They almost made me laugh; they reminded me of when he was a baby. But I figured that now was not the best time to laugh about a baby Sasuke.

“I,” I began with a sigh, “am Ahiaa Uchiha. You and Itachi are my brothers.”
