“Ahiaa, don’t…” He started. I broke away from his grasp. I sat on the bed and pulled on my shoes. “Where are you going?” He asked cautiously.
“Out.” I stated simply, and looked up at Neji’s face. His plain pale eyes bore through me angrily. I got up and walked towards the door. I stopped only once at Neji’s side, to softly say ‘sorry’, then I continued my way to the door. I paused when my hand reached the doorknob, sighed, and then went on outside. Oh, what a wonderful day this had started out to be.

Memories
I really had no clue as to what to do around town. I thought to myself as I walked through the rapidly crowding streets. I hadn’t been here in over a decade, so I really didn’t know what to expect out of the place. I had no clue where anything was, much less who anyone was. The only thing I remember was where our clan’s community was located. I began to head in that direction, figuring that I would at least go to pay my respects to my deceased family members.
When I walked into the Uchiha district, I Nearly fell to my knees. The once mighty Uchiha district had been stripped of it’s former glory. The houses that towered over me in my younger years were now completely in ruin. The lively windows and doors of my childhood were now boarded up, and the only life force I could sense was that of some mice that had made the abandoned buildings their home. I turned back to the dirt street that twined the district together. seeing it triggered memories long forgotten. I faintly remembered a time when I was four.

Since I was not allowed outside the area designated to our clan, all the time, I had began to wonder through the complicated network of roads. After a few hours of playful exploring, I slowly began to realized that I was in unfamiliar territory; I was lost. I had never been one that had been graced with a good sense of direction. I frantically tried retracing re-tracing my steps, as I remembered my brother teaching me. I had no luck with that, however. I ran into dead-end after dead-end. Finally, as the sun was beginning to set, and I was growing tired, I nestled myself against a large crate I had come across and dozed off. My little nap was not a peaceful one, though. All I could think about was my family. Why hadn’t my father, or anyone else, come looking for me? I had been gone well over half a day already… Weren’t they worried at all about me? I blinked my eyes open, unable to even pretend to nap any longer. I heard running coming from down the dirt-covered road.
“…aa!” I heard someone yell. “Ahiaa! Where are you?!” I immediately jumped up and ran to the small, somewhat frantic, voice.
“Itachi!” I screamed out, and tackled my six year old brother to the ground with a hug.
“Where have you been?! I’ve been looking around everywhere for ou!” He said sternly. “You can’t just run off like that without telling anyone where you’re going.” I looked around behind him.
“Doesn’t look like anyone else was all that worried…” I murmured.
That’s ‘cause the rest of the family are all nin-com-poops.” He stated matter-of-factly as he stood up and brushed himself off. I couldn’t help but to giggle at his choice of words.
“Thank you for coming to find me, big brother.” I smiled, then my face fell when a monster of a sound erupted from my empty stomach. “Let’s go home now, though. My belly is telling me that it’s hungry.” I said, rubbing my stomach, attempting to calm the angry, and loud, beast that was inside.
“Ok. Let’s go.” Itachi said, grabbing my hand, leading me back to the house, and hopefully some tasty food. “And Ahiaa… don’t ever go off like this by yourself again, Ok?”
“I promise, big brother.” I said as I pulled myself closer to him.

I looked back at the tattered houses as my memory began to once again fade away into the back of my mind.
“Exploring by yourself, huh? It’s probably changed a lot since you’ve seen it last.”
I spun around to find the source of the comment. Sasuke stood a few yards behind me, with his hand placed casually in his pockets.
“Hey. Yeah, it’s quite a bit different.” I replied, and he began to walk towards me.
“So what are you going to do now…?” He asked curiously.
“I don’t really know. I’ll probably try to find Itachi. Don’t look at me like that. You two are the only real family I’ve ever had. I will find him and…” This was so stupid. Why was I crying? “we’ll all be… a happy… family.”
“Look. Don’t cry. Hey. I’m sorry, okay?”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! I’m not usually such an emotional person, ya know? I guess it’s just all because I’m here again. Things resurfacing, you know?”
“Yeah… So what was it like here?” He asked, trying to change the subject. “I mean, who were your friends and everything?”
I sighed and sat on the dusty ground, leaning against an old, tattered building.
“I was only allowed a limited number of friends.” I began as he joined me on the ground. “So I didn’t have that many, ya know? And I didn’t really get to go outside these walls very often. And when I was allowed, I wasn’t allowed to associated with the Hyuuga clan at all.” Sasuke scoffed, and I hit him playfully in the arm. “I didn’t meet Kain until much later.” I said with a smile.
“You never really answered my question…”
“Oh right. Hmm… let’s see… I was friends with the Inuzuka girl, the Haruno boy. I’ve forgotten this other boy’s name. But I saw a boy earlier who looked exactly like him. I believe his name was Shikamaru, maybe? I don’t know, but if I had to guess, that Shikamaru guy would’ve been his little brother. Same lazy look, ya know? And who am I leaving out…?” I racked my brain. I knew I was forgetting someone… but who? Then it hit me. Hard. I don’t know how I could’ve forgotten her. She was my very best friend. “ Oh yeah! And there was Emalie Uzamaki! She was the best! We were like this,” I crossed my fingers, “when we were younger. Man… I haven’t seen her in about five years. Wonder where she is now…”
“Haruno?! Uzamaki?! Naruto and Sakura have older siblings, too?! And Shikamau?! How?! Where?! I’ve never heard about this!” Sasuke practically screamed out. “I mean, I knew about Kiba’s sister, but…”
“Ok! Ok! Jeez, kid! Slow down. You are so loud.”
“Oh. Right. Sorry. It’s just that it’s surprising, you know?”
“Why is it so surprising? I mean, you are your friends aren’t the only kids in the village, you know.” His reaction confused me so much. I mean, I was the only that left the village, wasn’t I? Where was everyone else? “So you really didn’t know about all these people?” I asked, really confused now.
“No. I really didn’t…”
I looked out our gates and saw who I presumed to be the Nara boy walk by.
“Well, I’m about to find out where everyone went. C’mon.” I said, pulling Sasuke up along with myself.
“Umm… Ok?”
I ran out of the giant Uchiha gates and towards the boy.
“Hey! Nara, right? Wait up!” I yelled after him.
He stopped and turned to face us as we ran up to him.
“Hey Sasuke, and whoever you are. Did you need something?” He asked lazily, putting his hands in his pockets. Oh yeah. He was definitely a Nara.
“Yeah! Tell me something, would ya?” I said before Sasuke could even speak.
“And who are you?”
“Oh! Uh… My name’s Ahiaa. Nice to meet you, Shikamaru, right?”
“Uh… Yeah…”
“So anyway, where’s your brother?”
His lazy eyes turned sharp at my question. “And how exactly do you know Zane?”
“He’s an old friend.”
“Well, his team went off on a mission a few years back, and they’ve never come back.”
“Oh.. My.. God… Are you serious?” I put my hand on Sasuke’s shoulder to steady myself. He glanced at me worriedly and grabbed my waist to keep me from falling.
“Hey don’t pass out. It would be such a drag to carry you to the hospital…”
If I wasn’t in shock from the news, I would’ve laughed at what he had just said. He was really just like his brother.
“W-Where did their mission take them?” Was all I said, instead.
“Huh?” He said, stupefied for a moment.
“What was their mission? Where was it?”
“Oh… Umm, it was somewhere near the Sound Village. I’m not real sure what they were there doing, though.”
“Who was on the team with him?”
“I don’t remember their names… Uh, there was a girl with blonde hair… And a boy with magenta hair, I believe.”
It was then that I collapsed. If not for Sasuke holding me, I would’ve been on the ground.
“I have to find them…”
“Ahiaa?” Sasuke said cautiously.
“I have to… find them…” I repeated, standing up now. “Thank you very much, Shikamaru, for the information.” I said, then turned and walked away with Sasuke at my heels.
“What are you talking about, Ahiaa?” Sasuke said, almost pleadingly. “Where are you going? You can’t just leave without telling anyone. You just got here.”
I stopped and turned around, shocked at how similar his words were to the Itachi of my youth. I looked toward the village gates. Woah… I guess I hadn’t noticed how fast I was walking.
“Sasuke.” I said sternly. “I have to do this. Don’t worry, little brother. I’ll be back. I promise.”
“Fine…” He sighed out. “You better come back.”
“Aww… Are you that worried about me?” I said, then laughed at his flustered face.
“Shut-up. No I’m not.” He said, turning away to hide his blush.
I laughed once more at him, but then became serious once more. “Hey, uh, do me a favor, would ya?” I asked.
“Yeah. Sure. What?” He asked, eager to get the attention off of him.
“Uh… Let Kain know where I went, okay?” It was my turn to blush then.
“Yeah. I’ll tell him. Don’t worry.” He laughed out.
“Alright. Thanks. I’m off now!” I said, and waved back at him as I walked out of the gates.
