Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto… I do own my own plot though! And my characters! They belong to me too! ^-^
Previously:
I closed my eyes and sighed. I opened them and turned back to a severely beaten up Naruto. I bowed my head, reluctantly apologized, and turned back to Kain.
“Are you happy now?” I said.
“Extremely.” He said, grabbing my waist and pulling me to him. “Now, I think we should leave before you cause even more of a ruckus here.”
“But I wanted to stay and watch Sasuke practice!” I pouted to him.
“Maybe you should go. You need to go and rest, anyway. You can watch us practice some other time.” Sasuke said from behind Kain. I walked over to him.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He said, and smiled. “Besides, if you stay here, I won’t get my chance to beat up Naruto.” He added darkly. I swear, at that moment, he reminded me just of a younger Itachi.

Bad Dreams and Bittersweet Mornings
“Okay, okay.” I laughed, then clutched Kain’s arm. “Let’s go, darlin’!” We walked past Sasuke and I ruffled his hair a little.
“I’ll see you later, kid.” I said. Then glanced at Kakashi, who was now completely entranced by his book. Some teacher he was… one of his students was being beat to a pulp and all he cared about was some perverted little book. “You take care of him now! Anything happens and you’re the first one I’m coming after. You got that?”
He looked up, nodded his head in the affirmative, and continued on with his reading.
“So where are we going?” I asked Kain furtively.
“For you to get some rest. You’re little brother was right, you look tired. You probably haven’t slept in two days, have you?” He replied, rather bluntly in my opinion.
“Are you saying that I look bad…?”
“Never, my love. I’m just saying that it’s not healthy to go that long without sleep.”
“Oh. Yeah, I guess you’re right. So… can I sleep over at your place?” I asked, and giggled.
“That would hardly be appropriate. Plus, the main family is not to pleased with me at the moment.”
“I’m sorry about that…” I said sadly. It was, after all, mainly my fault that his family was mad at him.
“I’ve already told you not to blame yourself, didn’t I?”
“I can’t help it…” He stopped walking beside me at my words and pulled me into a warm embrace.
“Please don’t stress yourself over this.” He said softly into my ear. He let me go and began to walk once more. “I’ve bought a room at the Inn, for you to sleep in. Is that going to be okay?”
“Of course… Are you going to stay with me?” I asked hopeful. This may have been my home village… but I hadn’t been here in a little over a decade. I had no idea who was who, or what was what even. I had known a few people in my early childhood, but I had no clue where they were now. This village to me was like a whole new environment entirely.
“For a while, perhaps. But I still have matters to discuss with the head of the family.”
“Of course you do… I mean, it’s not like you have to stay with me. I’m quite capable of taking care of myself, after all.” I said, trying to hide my disappointment.
He grabbed my hand and squeezed, which made me draw closer to him as we walked to the Inn in silence. Kain always seemed to know the truth about what was on my mind. Even without using his all-seeing eyes, he could always see through me to know what I was really thinking and feeling.
As we walked into the Inn, Kain stopped at the front desk to get the key to the room he had already reserved; he was always so prepared. Then, we headed up to my soon-to-be room. As soon as we walked in, I ran to the bed and laid on it. It was so comfortable; I had never imagined that one thing could feel so wonderful. As I lay there, Kain walked over and sat next to me on the bed.
“Thank you…” I whispered and smiled, already drifting off to sleep.
He leaned over and tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear. He leaned his head lower and kissed my forehead. I could feel myself slipping off to sleep.
“I love you.” He said softly. It was the last thing I heard before I submitted completely to sleep.
~*~*~
I was dreaming, I had to be dreaming. I could just tell. Everything was foggy. All around me was nothing but fog. I stared straight forward as I saw a figure begin to emerge. He was taller than me, but quite a few inches. I took a step forward to greet him.
“Do not move.” It wasn’t a request, it was a command. This person had a cool, indifferent voice. One that I remembered…
“I-Itachi?” I stuttered out.
“It’s good to see you, little sister. It looks like you are doing well.” He slowly walked towards me until I could make him out clearly. He hair had grown out quite a bit from what I had remembered, and he no longer wore the Uchiha clan symbol. He instead sported a weird coat-type thing. It was long, black, and had red clouds all over it. His headband had a slash engraved over the Konoha village symbol.
“You killed them. All of them…”
“I had to. They sent you away, and wouldn’t let you come back home.”
“But that was no reason to kill them all off! And you made Sasuke hate you. I mean, really hate you.”
“Yes, yes. I know. But he doesn’t matter to me.”
“Then why didn’t you just kill him to?!” I said angrily.
“Because of you.” He answered cooly, not seeming to be affected in anyway by my outburst. “When Sasuke was born, you were so excited. Do you remember? You loved and cared for him so much. And I knew that you would one day figure out some way to return to the village. I couldn’t stand the thought of you coming back to find that your dead baby brother was dead, as well.”
“Where are you? Where have you been?”
“I can say no more. I must go now. I’ve already spent too much time here…” His figure became unclear once more as he turned and walked away. “Take care, little sister.”
“Itachi!” I screamed after him. “No, Itachi! Come back! Come back, Itachi! Don’t go! Itachi!”
~*~*~
I woke up screaming my brother’s name. It was morning already. It was a little funny to me how your dreams could seem so short yet you had been asleep for hours. I was guessing it was already the next day, and I looked around to find Kain sitting alert at the table.
“Is there something wrong, Ahiaa?” He said, standing up worriedly.
“I… I saw Itachi…” I said wearily. He practically ran to me.
“What do you mean? Where was he?” He asked frantically.
“I-I don’t know. He said he couldn’t stay long, and he left…”
“Are you okay? Ahiaa, what else happened?”
“Nothing. All he said was ‘hello’ basically, then he left. Kain, I want to find him.”
“I know. Get up and dressed and we will discuss what I found out about the where-a-
bouts of your brother.”
“OK.” I said, and sat up. I looked down and almost fell back over. I didn’t have on my black and red ensemble that I had on when I had fallen asleep the previous afternoon. Instead, I had on a very large cream-colored shirt.
“What’s this?” I asked with wide eyes.
“Well, it’s hardly comfortable for you to sleep in pants, now is it. And that shirt you had on was too short and stringy for you to sleep in just it. So I gave you my shirt to sleep in.”
“In other words, you undressed m--” I had just noticed what he was wearing… no shirt. I blushed profusely and looked away. “Y-You didn’t have to do that…” I managed to stutter out.
He sat down next to me and leaned over to touch his cheek to mine.
“I did not wish you to be uncomfortable.” He whispered. I could feel my blush deepen, if that were even possible.
“Y-Yeah… O-Okay…” I stuttered out once again, making myself sound even more simple-minded.
He made a soft trail from my ear to my mouth with his lips. He leaned in once more to kiss me passionately. My hands found their way to his chest where they laid motionless. One of his powerful hands cupped the small of my back.
Then…
The door swung open and in walked Neji.
“Brother! The main house told me you were staying here. Why didn’t…” His eyes finally rested on us. I was both embarrassed and shocked. Embarrassed because of obvious reasons, and shocked because of the positions we were now in. We were no long sitting up. Somehow, we had moved from our sitting positions, to laying down; him on top of me.
Neji blushed enough for both of us and looked away quickly.
“I-I’m sorry. I’ve clearly interrupted something…” He stuttered out awkwardly.
“Umm… N-No, you haven’t… Umm…” I looked at Kain. “I’d better go and get ready…” He sighed and sat off of me to free me. I got off the bed and found my clothes neatly folded on the bedside table. “I’ll only be a minute.” I said, and quickly slipped into the bathroom.
I quickly changed and looked into the mirror. I looked horrible; bed head galore. I ran my fingers through my hair to at least attempt to tame my wild mane.
Once I deemed that quest useless, I went to the door. I paused as I heard Neji and Kain arguing over something.
“You can’t be serious, brother. You could get disowned, or something, for this.” Neji said half angry half worried.
“I am not going to be lectured by my younger brother. No, I refuse to be. Especially on a matter such as this.” Kain replied, just as angrily.
“But–”
“I will hear no more of this!” Kain stood up quickly, making his chair slide back loudly. He banged his fist on the table. “If this is all you have come here for, then I suggest you leave now.”
“Brother… I’m just worried is all. I mean… she’s an Uchiha!”
“I’ve already said that I would hear no more of this!”
I kind of felt guilty for eavesdropping, so I squeaked the door open, to let them know of my presence. I hesitantly walked out, eyes glued to the floor. I could feel Neji’s glare, and that made me uneasy. Not only that, but I felt extremely bad. Neji was only trying to watch out for his big brother. My being here was what was causing these two brothers quarreling. A tear slid down my cheek. I had no right to step between two brother like this. If I were not here…
I was snapped back to reality when I felt two hands gripping my shoulders.
“Stop it, Ahiaa. I know what you are doing. So, stop it right now.” Kain’s voice was warm and all-knowing as always.
“No, you stop. I have no right. No right at all.” I replied, as another tear slid down to join the first.
“Ahiaa, don’t…” He started. I broke away from his grasp. I sat on the bed and pulled on my shoes. “Where are you going?” He asked cautiously.
“Out.” I stated simply, and looked up at Neji’s face. His plain pale eyes bore through me angrily. I got up and walked towards the door. I stopped only once at Neji’s side, to softly say ‘sorry’, then I continued my way to the door. I paused when my hand reached the doorknob, sighed, and then went on outside. Oh, what a wonderful day this had started out to be.
