The prairie stretched for about 5 kilometers along the south of Konoha; small white buds were blossoming in between the tall green grass and Kakashi couldn't help but be marveled by the whole view. Never in his life had he seen this place. It was quiet, not even birds sang around it. In fact the only living creatures around were the butterflies, grasshoppers and other small bugs that lived around the fresh grass.
Naruto laid peacefully in all that, his blue eyes were closed, his blonde hair moved by the wind and his mouth stretching a sad smile. Kakashi sat next to him, observing his face and wondering how he had found this place.
“I used to come here with Sasuke all the time,” Naruto said, as if he had read Kakashi's thoughts. “We came across it by accident and were instantly drawn by it. Whenever we had some time off in which we were sure no one in Konoha would need us we would come here and just spend the day. Fortunately, no one knows about his place, at least every time I come here no one shows up so I assume that no one knows it since once you see this place you can't help but want to see it again.”
Kakashi decided to lie down next to him and watch the sky, just like Naruto. Indeed, this was paradise. “So you come here often.”
“Almost every day, at least for 10 minutes,” Naruto commented. “It keeps me calm and well, it reminds me of when Sasuke loved me.”
“You love him that much?”
“Unfortunately,” Naruto answered. He moved his body so he was no sideways, watching Kakashi. “But I'm willing to move on.”
Kakashi smiled under his mask and as he rested his weight on his hand, he moved towards Naruto and softly kissed his lips. “I love you Naruto.”
Naruto smiled.
***
Kakashi smiled as placed another kiss on Naruto's forehead. The boy had fallen deeply asleep while they were in the prairie and Kakashi had taken his slumbering figure to his place and softly placed him in his bed. Naruto slept quietly but Kakashi didn't want to leave his side. He looked so vulnerable in that state it was hard to leave him.
“Sasuke,” Naruto slurred as he slept. “No, Sasuke. Comeback, I need you…”
Kakashi was instantly upset. He hated Sasuke for being in Naruto's head all day. Sometimes he wished he would simply die for good so Naruto would move on. But then reality hit him and he remembered he used to be his student and he was always proud of being the young Uchiha's sensei. Also he knew that Naruto would never forget Sasuke, even if he died.
***
“Good morning,” he heard someone say as Kakashi slowly opened his eyes. “You could have slept in the couch, you know?”
Kakashi fully opened his eyes to find himself sitting in the floor next to Naruto's bed and using it as a pillow. His arms were folded bellow his head, so when he tried to stretch they felt numb and then warm, as blood started to flow through them properly again. “I didn't realize I had fallen asleep.”
Naruto, who was standing next to him, sat on his bed. “Yeah well, imagine my surprise when I saw you sleeping there. I didn't even remember getting into my room,” he commented and laughed. “But I guess its alright as long as you didn't do anything naughty while I slept.”
“Of course I didn't,” Kakashi shot back blushing. “I would never do that.”
“No offense sensei, but you are kind of a pervert,” Naruto stated. Kakashi looked at him with resent but then started laughing. “Oh yeah, forgot to tell you. A bird just passed by to deliver a message. It said that the old lady wanted you by her place at 2:30.”
“What time is it?” Kakashi asked, standing up.
“Mmm… About 2:30…” he answered.
***
“Sasuke?” Kakashi repeated.
“Indeed, it seems he was spotted near the land of waves two days ago,” Tsunade continued. “I want you alone in this mission, understood?”
“Then you better keep it a secret from Naruto, if he finds out he'll surely want to go,” Kakashi said.
“I know that and my plan would have been perfect if it wasn't because he knows you are here. Why were you sleeping at his place anyways?” Tsunade asked.
“I just fell asleep there, that's all.”
Tsunade looked at him meticulously. “Fine, just get ready for your mission and leave.”
***
“I really wish you would come,” Kakashi slurred.
There he stood in Konoha's gate along his love, Naruto. “Too bad, the old hag said I could come.”
“I still don't get how you manage to find out about every single mission that involves Sasuke, Orochimaru or the Akatsuki.”
Naruto smiled. “Well you just have to be smart.”
***
“Sensei,” Naruto called.
Kakashi stopped running and looked back. Naruto had stopped on one of the trees and started climbing down. When he reached the bottom, he noticed the blond went inside a cave. Kakashi though it was safer if he followed the boy, after all Naruto had a nag for getting in trouble.
“Lets rest here,” he announced as soon as he saw Kakashi entering.
“I thought you would be more eager to keep going nonstop, after all, its Sasuke who we are after,” Kakashi commented.
“I know that,” Naruto answered. “But there's something I want to do before seeing him again.”
“And what would that be?”
Naruto smiled. “Be with you, one night.”
