Chapter One: Anything for Missions
The pinked haired kunoichi stirred awake. She squinted slightly from the morning light, glancing over at the clock that sat by her night stand. Ten O’clock…TEN O’CLOCK!?
“Oh shit!” She cursed loudly. “Damn it, damn it. Damn it!” She had over slept…again.
She bolted out of bed, changed to her mission clothes so quickly that it seemed like it had just been a flash. She did the usual routines in the morning, than before heading out the room she quickly grabbed her two katanas and her black Akatsuki cloak, than she was out of there and down the long and dark hall.
She appeared in the kitchen, panting slightly, two figures were at the table. “Ok, I’m ready!” Her hair was tied a high pony tail, some strands fell in front of her face, green eyes were filled with excitement. She was dressed in a black body suit, a white thin sash was wrapped around her waist, and a holster was tied around her right leg.
“Your late.” Kisame said. “The mission was already given to someone else who was actually awake at the time the mission was supposed to start.” Sakura’s eye twitched.
Ever since Sakura was brought here, Kisame had always made sure he would be the bringer of bad news to her and the one to annoy and anger the kunoichi. To Kisame, it was more of a hobby but Sakura thought he just liked to toy with her mind and emotions.
“WHAT!?” Sakura screamed. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up!?” Kisame rolled his little black eyes.
“How could you expect us to even try after what happened last time?”
Flashback
“Where is she?” A cold voice asked. He sat in the shadows, only half of his lower body showed up in the dim room, there were no windows, just bare dark walls.
“She is still asleep.” Another voice answered. “That girl…” He shook his head, looking over at the man in the shadows.
“Send someone to get her.” He directed in his smooth but fairly cold voice.
“Right on it.” He said, not wanting to disobey the one sitting in the shadows, he had bad experiences earlier in his years when he had first joined Akatsuki. Some lower guards decided to go against Itachi’s orders and ended up much or less dead. It had been important for them to stay where they were, but they had decided to wonder off on they’re own and the plan had almost been blown.
Kisame called for a message deliver boy and told him his orders, the boy hurried off to the pink haired kunoichi’s room. He had knocked on the door but got no answer. So after about 5 minutes of pounding and shouting outside of her room he had decided to invite himself inside without permission.
Before he even realized, five kunais were thrown at him and he was pinned against the wall. Two knives on either side of his neck, he could feel the cold metal, which made him shiver, two at his waist and the last one just below his ‘jewel’. He looked over at the girl, but she remain in a sleeping stage like nothing had happened.
The weird thing was Sakura didn’t remember ever throwing the kunais. She told everyone she never even heard him go in her room and only woke up when he gave out a loud shriek.
End Flashback
“Well he should’ve said something before he came in!” Sakura defended, sitting down, grabbing a piece of toast, spreading butter over it than stuffing the piece of toast in her mouth. It wasn’t very lady like, but she really didn’t want to be left behind with no missions to do for the day. She always felt useless when that happens.
Kisame looked at her, a hint of irritation played across his face. “He was pounding and shouting outside of your door for five minutes! How could you not have heard that when all of us downstairs heard it loud and clear?!” Sakura shrugged, pouring herself a glass of juice, Kisame groaned in aggravation.
“Oh, Sakura,” Tayuya tiredly spoke. Sakura looked at the girl whose head was resting on the table. “Orochimaru-Sama wants to see you after Itachi-Sama returns.”
Sakura raised an eye-brow at Tayuya. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Tired…”She mumbled, closing her eyes, hoping to catch up on some sleep.
“She’s been reassigned to watch over the ‘Special’ prisoners.” Kisame replied for Tayuya, who looked like she had just suddenly dropped dead.
“Hm? Special?” Sakura tilted her head to the side, like a dog would when it’s confused.
“Top secret, Orochimaru-Sama only told us they’re ‘Special’ and said that if they escape our lives are on the line.” Kisame said, he cocked his head to the side and gave her a grin. “So, I’ve heard-”
“Sakura-Sama, Orochimaru-Sama wants to see you right now!” Kisame was interrupted by a boy who appeared at the kitchen door. Sakura signed, picking up her belongings that she had placed down on the table, she followed behind the boy to Orochimaru.
Sakura stepped into the dark room and saw a figure sitting behind a desk. “Orochimaru-San. You wanted to see me?”
“Sit.” He commanded, she closed the door behind her and sat in the seat in front of Orochimaru. Silence filled the air for several minutes. Jaded eyes looked into the snake like yellow ones.
“Are you done staring at my student yet, Orochimaru?” A cold and emotionless voice sounded from the corner of the dark room.
He pretended that he didn’t hear a thing. “How dare you over sleep and miss out on the mission that was assigned to you!? This mission was very important! And you were the center piece in it!” Orochimaru exploded, Sakura didn’t even flinch when everyone else would’ve, she just stared at him.
Sakura leaned back in the chair, tension leaving from her body. And to think, I thought he had something important he wanted me to do. “Ohayo, Itachi-San!” Temporally ignoring Orochimaru’s anger that was rising.
“Sakura.” He simply acknowledged.
“You know, someone could’ve came and woke me up, but no, instead you just blame everything on me when some of it is your fault too.” Sakura calmly, almost casually, shot back at Orochimaru. She wasn’t afraid of him, she had grown up knowing him for most of her life and there hadn’t been a moment when a thought of fear struck her. She knew she was safe under Itachi’s protection, and Orochimaru had never laid a finger on her because he knew what she was capable of.
Sakura was a killing machine. She was trained by Itachi himself and still being taught by him now. If pain was inflicted on her, she had the power to block it out completely. That’s one of the things that make her the killing machine she is today.
Orochimaru growled loudly in anger and frustration. Sakura giggled softly, making sure he didn’t hear her or else he would throw a temper tantrum and all hell would break lose.
Itachi stood quietly in the corner, watching Orochimaru getting fired up over a little comment Sakura made, to him, it looked pretty pathetic. He smirked, Sakura always knew which of Orochimaru’s buttons she had to push to get him angry like this.
A smiled appeared on her face and the sound of her soft giggle escaped her lips. You have potential…Sakura. “Orochimaru, don’t you have a mission for her?”
Orochimaru calmed himself down, upon remembering his reason for calling her, and looked at Sakura, who beamed back at him. “Maybe I wouldn’t give the mission to her seeing how rude she has been.” He said with a smug, thinking he had won this. Sakura looked like she was struck across the face when he said that but she quickly recovered and just glared at him.
“Fine than. Don’t give the mission to me. Good luck on finding someone who’s capable of doing it and wouldn’t die while they’re fighting.” She crossed her arms over her chest, closing her eyes and giving a heavy sign.
What has Itachi done to her? She acts like a spoiled brat! Orochimaru thought, still trying to keep up his smug look, even though he knew she was the only one who would be able to do this mission properly. Damn it Itachi, how did you raise such a powerful kunoichi!?
“Can I leave now? I’m getting bored.” Sakura said, opening one of her closed eyes at Orochimaru. His mouth twitched from the side. This showed at that he was giving in.
Come on Snake Man, I know you want me to do this mission, that twitch was a dead give away. She looked over at her Sensei, his red, Sharingan eyes looked as emotionless as ever. But Sakura could tell a small smirk was placed on his face, even though it couldn’t be seem.
Itachi started towards the door. “Come Sakura.” He called over his shoulder. She quickly stood up and started towards the door as well after Itachi.
“Hai!”
“Fine.” Orochimaru called, signing. Sakura turned around to face him, Itachi had halted as well. “…You may have the mission.” Sakura smiled, being pleased with herself. “Come here at nine. Do not be late.”
Ha! All right, damn it! Inner Sakura screeched, punching the air.
“Hai, Orochimaru-San!” She answered enthusiastically. I knew he was just bluffing about not giving the mission to me. It’s just like all those other times.

Sakura had slowly made her way back into her room after training with Itachi. He had been especially hard on her today. Pushing her on-ward until she was practically about to drop dead right on the spot.
She winced slightly as she raised her arm to pulled out the ribbon that held her hair up. I would use Chakra to block the pain out…But right now, I don’t have any left to use! After some struggle, she decided to just suck it up and just pulled the ribbon with one quick move. Long locks of pink hair flowed loosely onto her shoulder and down her back.
In the conduction I’m in…How the hell am I going to be able to get out of this damn body suit!? Damn it! Sakura paused for awhile, than scolded. What if I don’t recover by tomorrow!? I don’t want to miss this mission! Sakura cursed loudly.
She unwrapped the white sash around her waist and untied the holster that was on her right leg, she dropped the things on the ground, without a care. I’ll pick it up tomorrow. Than she noticed a couple of holsters and white sashes laying around on the floor in her room.
…Eventually. I don’t have time to clean up! It’s missions or training and even if I’m in here I’m always too tired to clean or I’m sleeping!
Sakura went into the bathroom, that was connected with her bedroom, and carefully started to peel off bits and pieces of her suit. It was not a pretty sight. Blood had started to show up on the floor. Her blood. Her body had lots and lots of cuts, although none of them were very serious wounds, it still hurt.
Eventually she was able to get the suit off of herself, Sakura carefully lowered herself into the bath tub (the old big wooden ones), that was already filled with warm water.
Sakura signed, immediately feeling all her tensed muscles loosened and, right now, nothing could be better than this. This was Heaven.
To her it seemed like hours had passed, but in reality only thirty minutes had gone by. She just sat there, not moving because she was too tired but also knowing if she moved around, more of her energy would be wasted and she would, for sure, fall asleep right here and drown herself.
“Tired?” A voiced rung in the bathroom, Sakura was immediately alert of her surroundings, eyes widened and ears fully aware. She relaxed again when she realized who it was.
“Itachi-Sensei, you scared me!” She mumbled, leaning back into the tub. She wasn’t worried that he was in here because she knew he wasn’t a pervert, he was sitting across the room where it would be difficult to see anything, and he had often done this to tell her about the mission she would be taking on so that she didn’t have to listen to Orochimaru or Kabuto telling her about it. They always took too long, in her opinion.
“ANBUs are turning up around this area more than enough times. Find out the village and kill the ANBUs.”
“Why don’t you guys just kill the ANBUs yourselves?” She asked, hoping it didn’t sound as rude as it seemed to her.
“One: There is someone we want you to seek out that we think might be in the ANBUs village. Find the village; you find the boy. Two: We can‘t start killing the ANBUs around here, wouldn‘t it seem suspicious? Kill them while they lie in bed thinking they‘re safe, is the only way to ensure the hideout will not be discovered.”
“Ok, this shouldn’t be too hard.”
Itachi stood up to leave. “Wait! Sensei, do you think I could ask you for a favour?” Sakura asked, thinking this would the weirdest request she‘d ever ask anyone, especially her sensei. He stopped and turned his head slightly her way.
“Hn.”
“Can you help me get out of here and into bed?” Sakura asked sheepishly. “I don’t really have any energy left from the training session, and I really not want to drown in my bath tub.”
He’s going to say no, he’s going to say no…
“Get dressed, I’ll wait.” He turned around. Wow…I thought he would’ve said no seeing how this was the way he always been. Teaching me that I don’t need to rely on anyone else but myself.
He heard her slowly get out f the tub, obviously having much difficulty and also hearing a slight wince. Not even a thought of helping her crossed his mind, this was the way he had always trained her. And she usually wouldn’t ask for assistance unless she really required it.
Sakura quickly dried herself, and threw on her big t-shirt and shorts on as fast as she could without causing too much pain.
Her mind began to swirl, and her eye lids became heavy. It be nice if I could just go to sleep right now…Suddenly just losing all control of her eyes and mind, the last thing she saw before she drifted off, was the red Sharingan eyes that she’d always looked up to.
She felt so comfortable, that she couldn’t help but lean in closer to the source of heat. At this time, she didn’t really care who’s warmth this was, all she cared about was how nice it felt to be held this close to someone. So close that she could hear their heart beating.
Itachi was there to catch her, as she quickly fell into a heavy slumber. He picked her up bride style and carried her over to her bed, he looked down at her when he felt her nudge her head closer towards him. What is she doing? He wondered.
He took in a small breath, his scents were filled with the sweet smell of lilies and a hint of cherry blossoms. The smell smoothed out his thoughts and calmed his mind. It seemed almost like a drug, the scent was making him want more.
Itachi shook himself mentally. She is a student, nothing more. He gently put her under the silk covers, he turned and was about to leave when something caught his eyes. Itachi looked back down at the sleeping figure.
He had never realized how much Sakura had grown since he first met her. He was so concentrated on training her that nothing else mattered for quiet some time. Itachi watched as her chest sunk than back up, her breathes were slow and small. She looked so fragile, with that pink hair of hers, and those, almost, predictable emerald eyes.
“Sleep tight my kunoichi.” He whispered before disappearing out of her room and into the dark halls.
