Chapter 1

I could hear my name ringing through the walls of the old castle I now lived in. It had been 10 years since my Master had taught me right from wrong and no matter what I continued to serve him. It was all I knew how to do and the only thing I could think of for accepting me and keeping me for all these years.

“NAOMI!” a voice yelled. His tone was angered and frustrated. It seemed as though he could not contain his emotions and his new venting toy would be me. “NAOMI!”

I ran up the stairs hurriedly, trying to make sure he didn't wait any longer then he already had. I felt like I had disappointed him but that was something I had to worry about later. His emotions and needs came before mine. I owed him a lot.

“Yes Master?” I said as I bowed before him, just getting to the door before he yelled my name again.

“What took you so long Naomi? I have never had to wait so long for your presence before!” He was frustrated and I flinched at this slightly but I stood up all the same.

“I'm sorry Master, I was making sure Madame Karin was tended to properly,” I said hoping he wouldn't scold me anymore for making him wait so long. It made me feel guilty that I wasn't doing my ob properly but it was hard trying to get away from the awful woman that was now staying in the inner walls of the castle.

“Ah, so Madame Karin has arrived, in a fowl temper I presume?”

“As always Master,” I answered.

“When does she expect to see me Naomi?” he asked looking at me like he was already bored of me presence, but somehow I knew otherwise. It was the way his black eyes, sometimes red, looked at me.

“She did not say.”

He nodded looking at me for one last glance and then stood up, briskly walking towards me. “You remember this,” he said grabbing my chin and pulling my face closer to his. “She is not to touch you and you are not to touch her. She is my guest but she will not touch you, you are my personal belonging and will continue to be until I am bored of you.” He sighed letting me go and walking back to where he had been resting. “Also, she is not to be anywhere but her room unless I say so, if she does not abide by my rules you may warn her of what the consequences will be.” I nodded looking at his black eyes. “Did you get all that?”

“No physical contact of any sort between Madame Karin and myself; I am your personal belonging until you say otherwise. I am to tell her to stay in her room and remind her of the consequences if she does not.”

He smiled slightly, “good girl.”

I bowed and started to leaving, dreading about heading towards Madame Karin's new room.

“Naomi,” he whispered out to me, stopping me in my tracks.

“Yes Master?”

“…nothing.”

I continued to walk out the door, slightly confused but nonetheless still intact. It was better than allowing him to flog me until each whip was a permanent scar on my back. The kind of scar to remind me what the truth of the world around me was.

As I walked down the stairs and towards the large embellished room I was about to enter I could smell the faint scent of blood from the closet ahead. I was confused but quickly realized that it was truly none of my business. It was probably some poor maid that had angered my Master. It was not something to be questioned, just accepted.

I walked into Madame Karin's room. It was decorated to her liking which was mixed with Gothic Victorian furniture and pink walls. It was definitely something to behold when first walking into this room.

“Ah! Just the woman I have been waiting to see!” she boasted, jumping up and down.

I allowed myself to glance at her as I depicted what I should say in reply. Her figure was nothing but skin and bone. There seemed to be nothing of her but her long black hair the fell to her waist. She looked like she was very intelligent but her emotional mood swings said otherwise. One minute she was an angered woman that shouldn't be crossed and then another she would be a woman of annoyance.

“Is that so Madame?” I asked nodding my head slightly, as if I were bowing but not completely. I refused to only bow fully but to my Master.

“Yes, you are the only one who knows how to treat a French woman around here! Now I want to see that rascal Itachi!” She was very demanding but I couldn't blame her, well I probably could but I decided not too.

“I'm sorry Madame but my Master is busy with other affairs and can only entertain you during dinner.” I answered hoping she would accept it, but as usual she always had to object.

“AT DINNER!” she yelled, my ears felt like dying along with my throbbing head.

“Yes Madame.”

“That, that's unacceptable of him, how does he get away with treating his honoured guest, such as me, with this type of attitude? It's as if he refuses to have any part in our plan.” My mind continued down a different train of thoughts, looking at her, pretending to listen, but allowing my ears to block the horrid vision of her out. “Naomi?”

“Yes Madame?” I answered, snapping myself out of useless train of thoughts.

“What are my rules for staying here this time? Itachi always has some type of ridiculous regulations set down for me!”

“The rules are that you are not to leave your room unless told to. He says you should know well what consequences lie if you do not follow the rule.”

“Is that all then?”

“No, no physical contact between you or the other maids. I hope that it is quite clear, my Master wishes me to also accomplish some other chores that need to be done before the setting of the sun.”

“Master this and Master that; do you call Itachi anything else?”

“He is my Master; there is no other name to call him. Now Madame Karin, if you would excuse me. I have to prepare dinner.”

“Oh yes, please the faster you prepare Dinner the faster I will be able to entice my Itachi.” She applauded me as I bowed my head and left. She was definitely a hand full. It was a wonder my Master ever put up with her.

As I continued up the stairs, the hint of blood still in the air, my thoughts began to drag to what Karin had said. She had this obsession over my master that he did not share with her. It was not mutual but she did have life to her. She was the one human in this world that did, though as ugly as she was.

She was different though, she was naïve. She believed that love actually existed, that there was more to humans then meets the eye. As much as I believe there are such things as emotions, it is less complicated then one wishes to believe. We are but primal creatures. When one says they `love' you they really are attracted to what they can do to you. Either that or they really just want to have sex with you. We are primal, just like any animal one may see.

Yet Madame Karin somehow finds more to believe in. Was it true or was it just her naïve mind. Master was always right, but this woman…

“Her mind is nothing but a façade. She believes in illusions. She is naïve.” I whispered to myself, keeping a handle on my confused mind. It was always best not to contradict Master, after what he did for me 10 years ago.

He was my angel of sweet, blissful death. He would bring my horrible misery to a bittersweet end. That was how the world worked and that is what he showed me.

It was best not to contradict him. Never contradict Master Itachi.

“Naomi,” whispered a voice, snapping my mind from my final conclusion of the endless contradictions. “Naomi,” the voice whispered again, timidly but still there.

I looked down and saw poor little Pasha. He was small and sickly but somehow strong hearted. He was a boy in need of something non-existent, who was I to pull a sickly boy away from a fantasy?

“Yes Konohamaru?”

“I … I need help.” He whispered, looking down embarrassed. “I can't put the pots on the kitchen for Mr. Taro.”

“I'm heading that way anyways Konohamaru. Why don't I do that for you?” He smiled brightly but then his smile faded.

“What about Master Itachi?”

“I'll put you to cleaning the dirt from the rest of the guest rooms. Master won't have a problem with that. I said I would help cook dinner tonight anyways.”

Konohamaru nodded and ran to the first guest room at the end of the hallway. He made sure to skip Madame Karin's room for he was afraid of her.

I sighed looking at the poor boy. He had yet to be subjected to the truth and that day of awful, foreboding truth was soon for him. I wondered if the poor boy would be able to handle it.

“That was probably what the poor maid was for,” I whispered to myself finally making my way to the kitchen.

If I had been looking where I was going I would have noticed that my Master was watching from the other side of the hallway. I bumped into him falling to the ground with a hard thump and staring up at the dark god - like silhouette. I swallowed and moved myself around so that I was on my knees in front of him.

“Naomi, you know I don't like it when you switch people's positions around.” He bent down in front of me, his head beside mine, his delicate hands playing with my greasy blue hair. “You know I like to keep the order that I have planned it out to be.” I nodded, I wanted to speak out but I knew that would only land in a flogging. “That's my Naomi,” he whispered, his cold lips touching my cheek for a slight second, sending shivers down my already trembling spine. “Now go to the kitchen, make sure Taro doesn't burn the food.” I nodded getting up from the floor and walking towards the door. “Naomi,” he said and for the second time I stopped in my tracks. “Don't disappoint me again.” He then got up and put his arms around my waist, his cold cheek resting against mine.

I nodded in response but that was all I could muster. My cheeks seemed to feel a somewhat burning sensation and tingling sensation rested itself in my stomach but I ignored it. “M-Master?” I questioned, not looking at him for fear of my cheeks burning more.

He then let go and walked briskly away; leaving me looking at his masculine figure as he walked away.
