Chapter 6: Now that you're here

 

It was hot…really hot…really really hot.

 

This seemed to be all that anyone traveling in Kakashi's squad could think about at the moment. Sakura was feeling rather uncomfortable in the dark ANBU uniform. She could feel the short pink hairs stick to the back of her neck and the sticky hot sensation on her arms and legs from where her arm and leg guards were heating up the sensitive skin. Sakura glanced around her to see how her other team mates were fairing and noted they didn't look much better. She felt sorry for poor Akamaru with all of his heavy white fur, just looking at the couch sized dog made her sweat even more profusely than before. She wiped the back of her hand across her brow as she breathed deeply.

 

They had been moving at a steady fast pace since they had left Konohakagure, and many of them were feeling the chakra burn at their feet.

 

Kakashi glanced back at his squad before searching ahead for something. `Aha! There it is.' He gave one final push off of a tree branch before landing below, noting how his squad did the same. “We will rest here for the remainder of the day.”

 

He had found them a place that was easy to guard, well shaded, and had a running water supply near by.

 

Kakashi's proclamation was met with tired happy smiles all around as they began setting up camp. The three women noted a small stream near them and took the chance to bathe, relishing the feeling of a clean sweat free body.

 

As they returned to the campsite, they found the boys sparring and simultaneously rolled their eyes. Tenten voiced aloud what everyone was thinking, “How the hell can you guys be sparring in this heat?”

 

At the sound of her voice the boys stopped and looked at the trio and Kiba shrugged, “you can never be too prepared.”

 

A fire was lit and the team gathered around to talk

 

Sakura and Tenten seemed to be off in their own little world as they conversed, leaving a very shy Yumi to talk to the men.

 

“OH MY GODS TENTEN! He proposed!!?!”

 

“Shhhhhh not so loud Sakura, I don't want it getting around just yet. We haven't set a date or made plans yet, so I'm still trying to keep it a surprise.”

 

Sakura nodded that she understood as she glanced at Kakashi who quirked an eyebrow at his former student. She shook her head indicating that there was no need for concern and she would be sure and let him know about it later. Kakashi nodded and turned his attentions back to the girl next to him.

 

“Okay so how did he propose? I mean no offense but I can't really see Hyuuga Neji getting down on one knee and proclaiming his undying love to you.” She laughed a little at the thought.

 

Tenten smiled at her friend and nodded her agreement. “No you're right. If Neji had done that I might just have put my hand to his head to make sure that he wasn't ill.” She giggled. “Neji proposed to me in much the same way that he does everything. He told me that he loved me and that he saw me as someone he could be proud to call his wife. He told me to marry him and I had no other choice but to just nod and accept.” She smiled wistfully at the memory as Sakura held back a cringe.

 

“Eh heh that sounds lovely Tenten.” She smiled sheepishly. `Definitely not the way I would want to be proposed to.'

 

The girls continued to talk wedding plans and guest lists before decided that it was time to hit the sack. Kiba took first watch and the rest settled in.

Sakura petals flew all around roseate colored tresses, the soft pink of the cherry blossom petals clashing with the vibrant pink of Sakura's hair. She gazed in awe as the beautiful flowers danced in the wind swirling around her slim frame. She heard a soft footstep and turned her head slowly to gaze upon the visitor.

 

Before her stood the achingly beautiful Uchiha Sasuke and her head swam from the giddiness she felt at seeing him. He was decked out in a white wedding style kimono causing his milky white skin to blend in with the fabric. His dark hair clashed brilliantly with the attire and it literally took her breath away. She turned her attention to herself for a moment noticing for the first time that she was wearing a wedding kimono as well. Hers was adorned with the beautiful pink petals of the cherry tree at her hem and sleeves.

 

She smiled at him as he continued to walk towards her.

 

He came very close to her as he slowly slid his hands around her stomach and to her hips where they rested as he leaned forward to touch his forehead to hers.

 

She gasped at the intimate position and stiched her eyebrows together in confusion.

 

“Sasuke?”

 

“Sakura, I have come to the conclusion that aside from Naruto you are my equal in every way. Help me restore the Uchiha clan.”

 

Sakura blushed at the implications of his proposal. Wait proposal?

 

“Sasuke was that a..was that a proposal?”

 

Sasuke merely pushed her up against the dark wood of the cherry tree and licked the spot on her neck just below her ear. She stifled a groan as she arched her neck towards him.

 

“Sa-sasuke”

 

He continued to nip and suck the sensitive skin on her neck as her breathing rapidly approached ragged and her hands found themselves fisting dark hair. She moaned. Suddenly Sasuke bit her..hard. She cried out in pain as her eyes widened in shock. He continued to bite her and suddenly she felt trapped, trapped beneath him and all she wanted to do was push him off and run away. She was terrified and called out hoping that someone would hear her. She felt a hand scratch painfully up her inner thigh and then force a long finger into her.

 

His voice echoed through her head, “This is what you wanted right Sakura?”

 

She opened her mouth to scream no, only to find that she couldn't. She couldn't make a sound, couldn't say no. She closed her eyes as hot tears spilled over onto angry pink cheeks. She cried harder than she had ever done and prayed that someone would save her.

 

Suddenly she the hands were gone and the terrifying sensation of hot angry hands on her disappeared. Without someone holding her up she slumped to the ground too afraid to open her eyes.

 

“It's okay Sakura, everything will be all right now that I'm here.”

 

She opened her eyes at the familiar voice and saw the familiar covered face of a certain copy ninja.

Sakura awoke with a start as cold sweat dripped from her body, her heart was racing, and her breaths were coming in deep gasps. She shook her head trying to shake off the horrible nightmare. She looked around and saw that everyone but Kakashi was asleep, and looked toward the early morning sky. Her shift would start soon, so she saw no reason to go back to bed. Heaving herself off the ground she walked towards the stream she had bathed in earlier and removed her clothing.

 

 

 

She entered the icy cold water and instantly felt refreshed and revived as she thought upon her earlier dream. What had it meant? She was so confused. She had felt terrified throughout her entire dream until the very end.

 

`Kakashi…'

 

She had felt relief and joy flood through her at his familiar presence.

 

`Everything will be all right now that I'm here'

 

`Yes senpai, I really do believe everything will be all right now that you're here' she opened her eyes in shock at the revelation. She sighed, now she was even more confused than ever.

Kakashi had heard movement and had glanced back at his camp noticing Sakura kicking restlessly in her sleep. He watched her debating on whether or not he should awaken her as she seemed in great distress. He watched as her pretty pale pink lips frowned then transform entirely into a soft smile. He was intrigued by her sudden change in expression until he heard her next words.

 

“Everything will be all right now that you're here..Kakashi”

 

His eyes widened at that bold statement. He wondered now what she was dreaming about. He watched her as she awoke violently and tried to shake things off. His eyes followed her as she moved and he followed her silently as he kept track of her. He saw her approach the stream and gaze down into the water reflectively.

 

His thoughts wandered to the words she had unconsciously uttered. He ran through every possible dream she could be having about him.

 

He almost fell out of the tree he was keeping guard in as he watched her strip down. He knew this was something that he should not be watching but he couldn't take his eyes off her. His eyes gazed upon the strong female body before him.

 

He memorized the curve of her breasts and muscle tone. He took in the soft scars still adorning her beautiful abdomen, and watched a pink strand of hair play around her shoulders. He felt his body begin to react at the way the cool night air made her nipples harden into soft pink pebbles and his mind began to wander.

 

He shook his head making himself snap out of it. This was not the time or place and he couldn't believe he was actually watching her. He forced his head around and looked towards the night sky, wishing with all his might that he could jump into the icy cold of the stream. He heard her get in the water and then heard her get out, and when he was sure that she was decent, he jumped down from his tree and met her in the camp ground.

 

If he hadn't had his mask on, Sakura would have noticed the light pink blush spreading across his cheeks. With a nod of their heads they understood that it was her turn to keep watch, though Kakashi knew that sleep was impossible at this point.

 

He was too busy thinking…
