Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Senpai

Ino Yamanaka was the oldest of the girls in Iruka's class, and even if it was by only just a few months, it didn't stop her from using her seniority to move to the status of Alpha Female, and how. She was the trendsetter, the popular girl whom all the other girls looked on in adoration and followed in her example just for the chance to experience what it was like to be Ino. Some people were more than inclined to say that Ino was the reason Sasuke's fan club existed, including Sasuke himself.

“Hey, wait for me Sasuke! Hold up for a second!”

She was also an utterly vain, shallow girl who placed way too much emphasis on exterior appearances, a girl who was all style and no substance. He never held back an eye-roll whenever she made for him, and today was no different as she approached him from the edge of the Academy yard.

“Sasuke, can I ask you something?” She spoke as she caught up.

The routine was about to begin, Sasuke could only sigh as he gave an aloof reply. “What?”

Ino's cheeks became a soft pink when he turned to look at her. That mysterious, cool expression on his face sent a shiver through her every time. “Well um…I was wondering if you'd like to…”

Help her with her training? Go on a date? Sneak around back and make out until they were hot and heavy? It didn't matter, because the second she got past “to” the routine went into its second act like clockwork.

“Stay away from Sasuke-kun, Ino-Pig!” Called Sakura Haruno, who was once a quiet girl with self-esteem issues as big as her forehead until Ino selflessly helped her get over them. Of course, Sakura repaid Ino's kindness by immediately declaring her intentions on Sasuke.

They were almost literal enemies ever since.

“Buzz off, Billboard Brow!” Ino snapped at the other girl, briefly forgetting Sasuke to revel in trading venom with her rival.

“Make me, Pig!” Sakura's reply was as acidic.

Ino quickly turned her attention back to Sasuke, he had been turning to escape but found himself at the center of attention again. “Anyway, I was wondering if you'd like to help me with my kunai throw. You know, since you're probably the best kunai thrower in the class…”

A derisive laugh was what she got for her attempt. “Ha, I was going to ask Sasuke to help with my advanced kunai throw.”

Sasuke rolled his eyes discreetly, and they said girls didn't have pissing contests.

“Only advanced?” Ino tsked.

It was getting ugly. “I'm the best in the class, well after Sasuke-kun of course.”

Now they were going on as though he wasn't standing right there. “Hah, that's sweet of you to think. I hold back for your sake, did you know that?”

“You couldn't hit Chouji if he was wearing bright orange!”

“I could!”

“Could not!”

This was stupid. He needed to get away before their back and forth turned into a slap-fest. Fortunately for him, someone up there had decided to take pity on him and dropped in next to him. Her arrival immediately hushed both girls, who looked to her in surprise and mutual adoration.

“Senpai!” Both girls exclaimed upon seeing the top kunoichi of last year's class.

Tenten gave both Sakura and Ino an amused glance, before looking over to Sasuke. She'd watched the scene unfold, and decided that the boy needed a serious bailing out. “Okay Uchiha, you ready to do some training?”

“Sure, let's go.” Without hesitation he followed Tenten away from the two girls, leaving them both surprised.

“I didn't know Sasuke was getting training from Tenten-senpai.” Ino said, trying to wrap her head around it.

“Me neither.” Sakura assented with a scowl forming.

Tenten's sense of humor was an aspect little explored by her teammates Lee and Neji, who never did much of anything other than train and spar. While they knew she had one, they were not clear on what she thought was especially funny. Sasuke knew, and the thing that got her goat the most (so to say) was his situation, it was why she always laughed like a hyena whenever she came by to hang out with him.

“I'm sure you think this is absolutely hilarious.” Sasuke droned to Tenten as she wiped her tears away.

“Sorry, I just think the whole situation is funny, that's all.” Tenten said with a few final chuckles. “Those girls don't have the slightest clue what you're like and yet they chase you relentlessly like some sort of trophy. It's amusing in a dark and twisted way.”

“You're a sadist.” Sasuke answered her.
Tenten smirked. “We all have our kinks. Like yours for quiet girls.”

“Correction, you're a bitch.”

Sasuke had been in a Senpai/Kohai relationship with Tenten for just over six month now, going to her for training in weapons usage. It was a loosely kept secret for the most part, because Tenten wanted nothing to do with the fan club and their self-destructively obsessive ways towards Sasuke, and word getting out openly would lead to a bunch of girls either begging her to train them or trying to destroy her as a threat to their stake on him.

It was through training him in the subtleties of weapon use that she learned about his crush on Hinata, and while she picked on him for it she genuinely supported him—in fact, she found it kind of adorable.

“So you do know that if you just ask her out, they'll back off right?” She pointed out.

“You're not serious about that, right? They'll harass her and drag her into their squabbling over me.”

“Aren't you the martyr? You sacrifice your love for her, while she drools incessantly from the shadows over another man.”

That one hurt to the quick, glaring sardonically at her Sasuke crossed his arms and looked away petulantly.

“If you want to talk about sadism, everyone in class knows how bad she has it for him but they sit back and let both of them suffer. She loves that idiot with probably all of her heart, and I can't blame her for that.” Sasuke sighed. “She sees something in him that other people obviously can't, and that's why she loves him.”

“But he wouldn't notice her if she walked up to him and flashed him…” Tenten droned as though reading from a script.

“…And I'm too bogged down by the fan club to even approach her.” He finished.

“Yeah, love is stupid like that.”

“You should be lucky you have Neji.”

Tenten blushed at that and chuckled. Sasuke was the only one who knew that her admiration for Neji went beyond his talent and skill, and was still working on the courage to confess to him. At least she could work alongside him sensibly, however.

A gentler smile growing on her lips, she rested a hand on Sasuke's shoulder and rubbed it. “Hey now, buck up! I have an idea, why don't you become friends with Naruto publicly?”

Sasuke frowned. “What?”

“Yeah, she always trails him around, right? If you got closer to Naruto, you'd have better chances with her.” Tenten's smile grew. “Plus with his reputation the fans would back off, right?”

His silence prompted a new laugh from Tenten. “Oh come on, you're a genius and you never once considered doing that?”

Sasuke lightly punched Tenten in the shoulder. “Shut up.”

“What have you got to lose, eh?”

A small smile appeared, in the game of love anything was worth trying at least once, right? For her, he'd try anything twice.

“Sure Senpai, I'll give it a shot.”

Tenten grinned at that, and placed her hand on the top of Sasuke's head, ruffling his hair. “I've trained you well, Sasuke-kun.”
