Day Before Valentines

 

A/N: Another fic! Sasuke's POV!

 

Genre: Romance/Humor

 

Setting: This took place after Sasuke was brought back from Orochimaru by Naruto and the others. This is just a one-short fic based on Sasuke's POV! They were all 15 years old and Neji, Lee and Tenten were 16!

 

Main Pairing: Sasuke/Naruto.. Shounen-ai!

 

Summary: Sasuke wanted to buy the perfect gift for Naruto on Valentines Day. Pride aside, he went lots of trouble and gathered lots of courage just to ask people, who were close to the blond, what he would like to have for tomorrow!

 

Warnings: SasuNaru.. which means Shounen-ai! OOC-ness! Sasuke find Sakura annoying in this fic! Don't like then don't read! I've warned you so don't come and flame me about this!

Chapter I

 

The usual morning greeted me.. again! The bright sunlight that shone through the transparent glass window and the warmth that the sun produced made me feel so warm and I have to drag myself out of the bed unwillingly.

 

Damn! What wasn't Sunday the day where all shinobis get their rest? Why was it that we have to listen to our damn sensei to report early at the bridge for mission when he was the one who is always late? Why only our team's sensei was always the latest? And why couldn't he just train that annoying pink haired girl and the blon.. Wait! Blond? Naruto?

 

Well.. Since Naruto was going to be there.. it wasn't too much to ask if I had to get up early in the morning eh!

 

I hurried to the bathroom and wasted no time! Quickly, I washed my face and brushed my teeth. After I had taken a quick shower to get refresh again, I took a glance at the clock.

 

Half an hour more..

 

I kept reminding myself. Thirty more minutes before I could see my blond! I tried but couldn't suppress a small smile across my lips. Shaking my head to get out of my thoughts, I applied some gel on my hair to spike it. Then I looked myself in the mirror to check whether everything was alright.

 

Hair spiked? Checked!

 

Teeth brushed? Checked!

 

Face washed? Checked!

 

Shirt cleaned? Checked!

 

Everything looked fine. Mostly perfect to me! I had chose to wear the black t-shirt that hung loosely over my shoulder with a fishnet shirt underneath and a pair of black pants. I was actually proud of my natural pale skin had contrast wonderfully with my dark night hair and a pair of coal-like eyes of mine. Demo.. Something's missing.

 

I walked out of the bathroom and pulled the drawer open under the dressing table. There! My forehead protector and holster with shurikens and kunai. I tied the forehead protector around my forehead and holster to my right thigh. There! Finished!

 

I took a glance at the clock again.

 

Fifteen more minutes!

 

I rushed to the front door. Forget about breakfast! Meeting someone special was more important! What more, I didn't want to be late for mission.. So I slipped into my sandals and off I went..!

“Ohayou, Sasuke-kun!” a voice called me.

 

Great.. Of all the people, why was she in the same team as I am? Naruto was alright of course.. Another teammate.. If I could choose, I would want Hinata to be my teammate? She was indeed quiet but nah.. Hinata likes Naruto! I didn't wanna fight with her over that blond. Naruto would think that I'm a bully and fall for Hinata instead.. God! What was I thinking?

 

Anyway, back to reality.. I just ignored her though. Her voice seemed so loud early in the morning! I walked pass her and there! I saw the blond..

 

Relax.. It wasn't the first time to see him in black t-shirt with black pants now. Seriously, Naruto wore almost the same as me and I really think that black really suited him! He hadn't change much though. True, he lost his baby fats over the years and had grown into a fine young teen with well-built body but his spiky hair always stayed in golden blonde and his sapphire blue eyes would alwa..

 

“What are you looking at? Bastard!” a voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

 

Oops! I guessed I had stared too much. Shit! I could feel a blush is coming.. I tore my gaze from the blond and murmured under my breath.

 

“What are you saying, bastard?” Was Naruto trying to get on my nerves or what!

 

“Dobe.” I repeated myself as I rested against the bridge.

 

Alright! He was fuming right now and I had gotten his attention. Well.. This was the only way which could make him notice me.

 

“Stop calling me dobe! You bastard!” he shook his fist towards me as he made a pout in his face. God.. He looked so cute!

 

“Then stop calling me bastard. Dobe.” I spoke in a calm manner. Calmer than I expected.

 

“Bastard!” He retorted.

 

“Dobe.” I countered.

 

“Moron!”

 

“Baka.”

 

“Idiot!”

 

“Now look who's talking.”

 

“Sasuke-teme!” Naruto jumped up and down, anger written all over his face and glared furiously at me. He then stuck out his tongue and folded his arms, ignoring me. He was so unpredictable.. I smirked of course. I won. Haa! Expected. At least I got some fun in the morning..

 

I saw the pink haired girl at the corner of my eyes. Damn. She was coming nearer and gonna talked to me, rumbling things which she had no idea that I disliked them. Perhaps she knew but she chose to ignore it.

 

Just a few more steps and she was gonna start babbling when..

 

POOF!

 

Expected to be as late as always. Our sensei.. Nevertheless, I thanked him mentally for saving me from that girl. Not that I hated Sakura.. True that I didn't like girls but it's just that she kept on talking non-stop which always caused me to have a headache.

 

“Ohayou!” Kakashi greeted as he waved, “Gomen! I was late because a cat was stuck on the tree and I ha..”

 

“LIAR!” Naruto and Sakura yelled together and pointed their index finger at him.

 

I sighed. Nothing changed even after 3 years had passed. Now that we were 15 years old, the usual greetings in the morning was still the same.

 

“Hehe! Gomen!” Kakashi seemed to be ginning under his mask. He cleared his throat before going on our mission for the day. Hope it wasn't some searching for cats or plucking the weeds!

 

“No mission though!” he announced.

 

What did he mean by that? No mission? What for we reported so early in the morning?

 

“What you mean, Kakashi-sensei? Then what's up for calling us early in the morning?” Naruto had voiced out my thoughts.

 

“Well..” Kakashi's grin seemed to be wider with every minute passed. “Just to remind you all that..” he paused for a while before continuing, “..tomorrow is Valentines Day!”

 

I arched my one of my eyebrows. What Valentines Day gotta do with mission? I meant.. Wait! Valentines Day? This meant that I got the chance to give something special to the one I like, wasn't it?

 

“YAY!” Sakura cheered, “We almost forget all about Valentines Day when we are so busy with missions and trainings!” and I swore she gave a seductive glance at me..

 

I could guess what she was thinking right now. She was gonna make some heart-shaped chocolate cookies for me and say things that she like me. Then what she expect me to do huh? Kiss her? Yuck!

 

“Yare!” Naruto exclaimed, “What's up for Valentines Day, Kakashi-sensei?”

 

I wanted to say something but shut myself up. I stayed cool as always, listened to their conversation attentively.

 

“Well.. Naruto-kun. It's such a special day whereby everyone get to prepare something for their love..” Kakashi explained, his voice full of affection for.. What? Something tells me Kakashi got his koibito..

 

Naruto made a pout.. again.

 

He was so.. kawaii! Oops. Stop staring him, you idiot!

 

I shook my head slightly and walked towards them, staring at Kakashi. “It's means there's no mission for tomorrow too, huh?” I said.

 

His visible eye curved as he smiled. “Yup! As clever as always, Sasuke..”

 

I sighed. But inside, I was troubling over what to buy for Naruto! I mean.. I never buy anything for anyone before!

 

“So..” Kakashi waved, “Gotta go now! Ja!”

 

Before he went off, he leaned towards me and murmured childishly, “ Hehe! What are you going to buy for Naruto? Sasuke-kun..”

 

Immediately, I blushed furiously and just when I was about to retort..

 

POOF!

 

He was gone..

 

Dammit! How he knew about my affection towards Naruto? I didn't tell anyone! Oh god! Shit! I hoped Kakashi didn't go around spreading like hell.

 

“Ahh.. Then I have to go and get some ramen then!” Naruto sighed as he casually put his hands behind his head, “Nobody will buy anything for me and I don't have to trouble myself buying for someone else..” and he walked away.

 

I swore I saw a glimpse of the sadness across his sapphire eyes. I was about to call him to have a spar with me.. Alright! I was about to tell him not to think so low of himself and get ready to receive gifts from others.. ALRIGHT! I was really about to tell him that.. indirectly though.. when Sakura latched herself onto me. Great.. How what?

 

“Sasuke-kun..” she smiled to me, “What you want for Valentines Day?”

 

Oh my! I knew it! I glared her.

 

“I hate Valentines Day.” With that, I shrugged her off and walked away.

 

I knew she was upset about what I had said to her earlier. I knew I shouldn't hav.. Hold on a sec! I took back my sentences. She wasn't feeling sad.. In fact, she was feeling okay now.. `cause she came running behind me, trying to match my pace.

 

“Sasuke-kun!” she finally caught up with me, “I should have know that you don't like Valentines Day! It's so stupid..” She gave a silly grin and a apologetic look. That's not all..

 

“Valentines Day is not for us ne, Sasuke-kun!” she continued, “We will do something special on that day, which is tomorrow..”

 

She kept babbling on and on..

 

“..and we are going to..”

 

and on and on..

 

“..then we will have..”

 

and on..

 

“..later we will..”

 

and on..

 

“..and we..”

 

That. Was. It. Last string.. snapped!

 

“Sakura. Can you shut up?” I tried to suppress my anger already, for the sake of Naruto!

 

“Demo Sasuke-kun..” Sakura tried to continue until I interrupted her.

 

“Sakura. There's no `we'. Only `you'.” I snapped finally, walked away. Leaving her.. behind.

 

“Sasuke-kun!” she called.

 

I ignored her though. Damn.. Didn't she know what was the meaning of `give up'? Luckily she didn't follow me after that or else I didn't know what I would do to her..

 

I sighed again. Tomorrow was Valentines Day huh? What to do? Buying something for him? But that would be ridiculous! Everyone would laugh at ME, the Great Uchiha, saying that I'm gay.. not straight! ..wait! Who CARES? I mean.. it was my business! Not theirs! Right.. Now what to buy?

 

Firstly, consulted someone was very important. But who? Who would so normal and rational to hear me out? Uchiha buying something for someone?

 

I planned to head for the street of Konoha first, seeing who could help me..

I wandered along the Konoha street. Everybody seemed to be very busy.. Perhaps buying chocolates and gifts then, since so many gift shops had damn lots of people flooding inside and tomorrow is the day.

 

I guessed I was thinking too much until I bumped into someone. I lifted my head from the ground, looked at the person.. I mean, people in front of me.

 

“Hey Sasuke!” Kiba waved at me. His dog on his head gave a small bark..

 

I gave a slight nod to acknowledge. I peered behind him and there.. Shino, Shikamaru and Chouji, munching on his snacks. When could he stop eating for a moment?

 

Ahh! I could ask them for help! Demo..

 

Kiba was quite a loudmouth so.. No way I was gonna ask him to help! He would probably tell his dog, Akamaru.. and Naruto before tomorrow.. or even immediately after I told him!

 

Shino.. He was more of the quite type, better than Kiba. But.. Too quiet to be any help! If I asked him, he probably would just talk to his bugs about it and forget about me!

 

Chouji.. I knew he was gonna to keep on munching his food and tell me to buy chocolates for sure.. not to Naruto.. to HIM. I couldn't tell him that!

 

Shikamaru.. He would say it was too troublesome! I didn't want someone to just tell me, “Stop troubling yourself with this stupid matter. It's too troublesome to think. Just wait for gifts to come.” And off they went.

 

Demo.. Those 4 of them! I gotta choose one and help me.. Great.. An Uchiha was trying to get help from someone. How ironic was that?

 

“Hello?” a hand waved up and down in front of me. I was dreaming again.. I supposed.

 

“Hn.” I replied.

 

“What `hn'? Anything wrong?” Kiba asked.

 

Well.. I didn't quite like someone to poke into my matter. But.. GRRR!

 

“Shikamaru.” I called that lazy boy, who turned his head lazily towards me. I chose him `cause he was one of the close friend of Naruto's.

 

“Nani?” he replied LAZILY.

 

I took a deep breath mentally before asking.. I ASKED! “Will you come with me for awhile? I have something to ask you.” And upon finishing the sentence, I turned away.

 

They must had suspected something. The great Uchiha was asking! The sky's gonna falls.. The ground's gonna shake.. The animals are gonna walk on two legs.. Wait! Kangaroo's on two legs.. ANYWAY, back to topic!

 

“What?” Shikamaru widened his eyes.

 

I frowned impatiently. “I don't need to repeat myself, Shikamaru.” I replied.

 

He gave me a smirk. A SMIRK! And he walked towards me, bidding goodbye to the others before turning his attention to me once again. We walked away from the crowd.

“What you wanna ask?” Shikamaru yawned as he laid on the grass.

 

Great.. Someone please remind me why I chose him to be my consultant at first! I pushed all my personal thoughts aside. Important things first..

 

“Shikamaru..” I called his name again to make sure he was listening to me as I sat down beside him, “I..”

 

“You wanna ask about Naruto huh?” Shikamaru sat up. He had totally cut my speech short into half.. Iie! More than half! Ehh.. How did he know about..

 

“I knew it long ago since you came back from Konoha.” Shikamaru seemed as if he could read my mind and had answered my doubts.

 

Since I came back from Konoha? It was almost immediately he knew my affection towards Naruto! God.. What am I supposed to do now..

 

“Don't worry! I won't tell..” and he winked at me, smiling slyly. This guy's damn weird. He could read mind!

 

Clearing my throat and thoughts at the same time, I brought damn lots of courage to ask this.. Finally I was going to ask.. this!

 

“Shikamaru. You know..” First time I had trouble finding words to say, “..what.. what Naruto likes to have.. for Valentines?”

 

Finished. All I had to do was to wait for the answer.

 

Shikamaru seemed to be like thinking hard for awhile until he gave a sigh.

 

“I dunno.”

 

Great.. Just great. I had gathered courage to ask something and now, it had wasted, off to the drain.

 

“Demo..” Shikamaru continued. Well, taking back the words I had said just now, maybe there's still hope!

 

“Hn?” I waited eagerly, not showing though, but mentally.

 

“I think he would like a earring I supposed. He saw him looking through the jewellery shop yesterday and I asked him what was he staring at. He just simply replied that he liked that the pair of earrings, one in sapphire while another in crimson.” Shikamaru replied.

 

“Different in colors?” I questioned. I couldn't hold on my cold mask any longer now. What I want to know was WHAT Naruto want for his perfect Valentines!

 

“Yea..” Shikamaru said as he lifted his head to look at the clouds above, “He said he want his koi to put the crimson one for him on his right ear while he put the sapphire one on his koi's left ear. The sapphire one will make his koi think of him, he said. It's gonna be so sweet but he thinks that's impossible.”

 

“Ehh..? Naze?” I asked again.

 

Shikamaru frowned slightly as his head turned to me once again. “Not as if you didn't know. He always think that he's demon.. I tried to snap him out of that thought but it seems that he wasn't that confident himself when come to this `Kyuubi no Kitsune' matters..”

 

“Hn.” I replied.

 

True. Naruto always thought that he wasn't a human but a demon! That made my blood boil like over 100 degree celsius and felt like punching him in the face, making him feel he was a human! With feelings.. AND HEART!!

 

Anyway, I had gotten my answer now. A pair of earrings with one was sapphire in color while another was crimson.

 

“Thanks Shikamaru.” I muttered as I stood up.

 

“Matte, Sasuke..” a voice made me stop at my track.

 

I turned my head slightly, making a note for him to continue. “Naruto brought you back with us.. So treat him good.” That was all I heard from the lazy boy as he laid back down on the grass again.

 

I knew what he meant. Hell of course I would take good care of Naruto! I mumbled a reply, “You bet.” And I walked away, smirking.

 

I could feel him smiling too, while admiring the clouds.

Now.. Who's next should I go asking about Naruto? I wanted to find Neji though. Surely Neji would know something about that blond huh? Alright! Let's go and.. Ouch!

 

I bumped into someone.. again! It meant.. day dreaming.. AGAIN!

 

I looked up and guess what? Two person with weird green suits.. Thick eyebrows.. Round eyes.. Bowl-like haircut.. Most important of all.. Their shinning teeth as always!

 

Gai..

 

..and Lee.

 

“Yosh young man!” Gai struck a post, with two thumbs up, “What are you doing out here? Young people like you should be shopping gifts for your beloved!” and as shiny as possible, his teeth shown.

 

“That's right! Gai-sensei!” Lee exclaimed as he imitated his sensei.

 

Seriously, they were totally weird guys! Didn't they feel weird wearing that damn green suits? Anyway, I was not going to entertain them. I took no notice of them as I strolled pass them until I heard..

 

“Gai-sensei! What's the most appropriate thing to give for someone you love on Valentines Day?” Lee asked, question mark on his face.

 

“Well.. Lee, my precious student.. You have asked the right question!” Gai was exaggerating alittle, “You should cook something your koi will love to have and help to clean her room if possible! It's very important to have a nice environment when confessing!”

 

“Hai!” Lee was taking down notes. Great.. If I had any pen and paper now, I would write that down too! “Anything more? Gai-sensei!”

 

“You should give home-made chocolates and flowers for your love! I'm sure girls will like that! Youth girls! This are basics!” he shone his teeth.

 

Basics? Ramen.. Naruto like that! Flowers.. Home-made chocolates.. and teddy bear? Right..

 

I continued to walk along the Konoha street, thinking about those stuffs. I mean.. flowers and ramen I could buy.. but home-made chocolates? Damn.. But nevertheless, just take one step at a time!
