A little over a year after Naruto disappeared…

It was close to morning and the hidden leaf village was asleep. The forest that surrounded the village was quiet as animals awaited for the dawn to come. Four figures stood on the top of a tree and stared down at the sleeping village. Each figure wore a large sack hanging off one shoulder and clothing that hid their features in some way.

The tallest in the group was covered in bandages. They covered every part of the person's thin body including the eyes and mouth. Over these were worn a pair of dark purple pants and a dark green t-shirt. The pants were large and baggy, covered with pockets that bulged with shurikens and kunai. On the back of the shirt was a black flame with a pair of flame red eyes.

The next two figures were of similar heights and were clothed in similar sleeved cloaks. Each cloak's hood had been pulled up to hide their features and the fronts had been tied shut. Out of the sleeves poked hands clad in fingerless gloves. The cloaks differed in the colors and the symbols imprinted on the backs. One was dark blue in color and sported the back of a red scarab beetle with its wings outstretched. The second was yellow green and had the outline of the upper half of a woman with her head turned up as if she was singing.

The fourth figure was slightly shorter then the pair of cloaked figures. Most of his clothing was bright orange in color. He wore a dark orange suit that resembled Shinto robes, baggy with very large sleeves and pants legs. The back of the outfit had a red spiral surrounded by nine red flames imprinted on it. The lower half of the figures face was covered with a scarf whose excess flapped behind the figure in the wind. The eyes were cover by a pair of well worn goggles. On top of the figure's head was a flattened circular bamboo hat.

"So this is Konoha," spoke the yellow green figure, the highness of her voice denoting her gender, "It looks like a nice place. Don't you agree Gizensha?"

The orange clad figure known as Gizensha hunched up his shoulders and did not speak. "Don't forget," the blue figure said in a deep baritone voice, "The people here do not trust other shinobi, especially ones like us. So don't drop your guard."

"I know, I know," said yellow green with exasperation, "Tengu-sensei told us enough times. It's just…this is the first village I've seen beside our own."

"You're right," Gizensha said, "This place is nice. Good place to visit occasionally."

"Enough," said blue, "Let's go check in."

"Hai Kouchuu," said yellow green.

"Yeah sure," said Gizensha. The bandaged figure said nothing. It just nodded. The four figures stood on the tree for a few seconds more. Then they faded from view and the tree line was once again left unbroken.

Another short chapter. Eh, I am working on a longer one but I got writer's block for the moment. Anyway for any interested, This story is going to happen during the chuunin exam like I said before in the summary, I just lengthened the time before The characters of the anime got to be in the exam.
