AN: Thanks once again for reviewing! I will try to get the chapters out faster, but it depends on
my home life. I have a lot of family over, plus a niece that follows me everywhere. Don't worry
though, I plan to get this done! I know some were asking for more Sasuke and Sakura, but that no
be till next chapter or something. I'm leaning towards Neji more. It just depends…..;)…….

Chapter 3: Tears

~~

Tears weld up in her eyes. She didn't feel the hands that were placed on her shoulders. Naruto
had his head bowed down and his right hand on Sakura's left shaking shoulder. Kakashi was in a
similar position, but on her opposite side. She slowly fell to her knees and their hands fell to their
sides. Sasuke stood a little behind Sakura, just staring at her back with his emotionless eyes.
Quietly the Hokage walked up to the small pink haired girl and laid a gentle hand on the soft hair.

"I am terribly sorry, Sakura-chan." With that she bent down and hugged the young woman.
Sakura latched onto her and cried into the crook of her neck, desperately not wanting to let go.

~~

Pink hair bobbed back and forth, brushing against the forearm of the tall man that carried the
body of a girl. The girl laid in the arms of her sensei with tear streaked cheeks and a heavy heart
clouded her dreamful mind. Kakashi sighed as he carried the limp form of his student. His silver
hair swayed with every step he took towards her house. His other two students slowly coming up
behind him. Sasuke keep his focus on the unconscious girl in his sensei's arms, Naruto
meanwhile stared straight ahead.

The news came suddenly that none of them expected it. The message that was delivered from the
Team that afternoon was a list of names that have died on a mission. They were to be found and
their bodies disposed of as soon as possible. But among the list of names were both of Sakura's
parents. Mother and Father died together near the Sound country. The others of their team made
it out with numerous of injuries. As soon as the Hokage found the two names, she immediately
announced them to the group, of course Sakura did not take the news very good.

Sakura, even with her strength and determination over the past few days, cried herself to sleep
right in the Hokage's office. ‘Now all my students don't have family.' Thought Kakashi, as they
finally made it up to Sakura's doorstep. Sasuke went ahead and unlocked the door to the small
home and they let themselves in. Kakashi slowly made his way up stairs to place the bundle in
his arms to her bed. Naruto joined him in opening her door and pulling back her blankets to place
her on top of the soft mattress. They slowly left the room and met up with Sasuke at the bottom
of the stairs.

"So, are we to leave her here alone in this house?" He asked. He turned his head towards the
small kitchen that was located to his right. Kakashi noticed the worry in his eyes before he briefly
smiled.

"Of course not Sasuke, you are to stay with her tonight," before Naruto could protest he held up
his hand in front of him, "You, Naruto, will just keep asking her if she is alright and bother her
too much. Sorry but you and me are leaving." He nodded and Naruto hung his head as he made
his way to the front door. "Take care of her Sasuke." He murmured and stepped out.

When Naruto finally stepped out Sasuke turned to Kakashi with an eyebrow raised. "Are you
sure that is the only reason you are leaving me here." He again asked his sensei.

"Not the only but I would not like to get into it right now, I am tired and have been unable to get
a good sit with my book. So I will take my leave." Before Sasuke could respond, Kakashi
disappeared in a puff of smoke. Sasuke crossed his arms and stared out the window at the setting sun.

~~

Naruto slowly made his way towards the ramen shop. His sudden saddness made him hungry and
the best way to relieve hunger to him was to fill his stomach with bowls and bowls of ramen. He
turned the corner, but bumped into someone. On reflex he grabbed the person in front of him and
steadied them.

"I'm sorry, I should have been watching." He put his hand behind his head and smiled.

"O-oh, T-that's okay N-naruto-kun, I wasn't w-watching." Naruto looked down and saw the girl
who answered him. Head bowed, hair covering her face, hands wrapping around the other in a
nervous manner. "Hinata-chan! I didn't know it was you!" Naruto smiled and watched as Hinata
raised her head to looked at the blond boy. Blue met gray as red covered her cheeks. The red
receded as Hinata noticed the somewhat sadness that was held within the ocean colored depths.
She quickly became concerned with what could be bothering the boy in front of her.

"Ne, Hinata-chan, you want to come with me to the shop?" He took her hand before she could
protest and dragged her behind him. Hinata blushed a darker hue than the previous red as she
tried to catch up with Naruto.

‘He, he's holding my hand!'

~~

Sasuke slowly made his way back to the base of the stairs. He looked up at the top of the flight
and wiped the stray crumbs from his dark blue shirt. He stood there, not knowing if he should go
ahead and venture into Sakura's room or stay down in the living room and be oblivious of the
worry that started to grip his heart. He sighed and turned to make his way up stairs.

He walked along the hallway, looking to each of his side at the pictures that adorned the walls.

‘Sakura was lucky, she had a family.' He stopped after that thought. The words ‘was' and ‘had'
stuck to him hard. ‘Now she's like me and Naruto. But she had a longer time with them, it will
be harder for her to let go.'

He made it to the last door on his right. He knew this was Sakura's room from a previous time.
He quietly opened the door slowly. It made a small agonizing squeak every time it was opened
further. The darkness and stuffiness of the room was the first thing he noticed as he walked by
and opened the window to alleviate some of the heat. Afterwards Sasuke turned towards the
small bed in the corner of the room. Pink hair laid out like a halo around Sakura's pale face. You
could still notice the red on her cheeks and some darkness under her eyes from crying so much.
Sasuke slowly reached out to touch her face but pulled back quickly. Shaking his head at the
sudden want to touch her, he turned and left the room and its sleeping occupant.

~~

"Ah, poor Sakura-chan" murmured Hinata as she sat beside Naruto, who was now staring
straight at his ramen instead of eating it, in the ramen shop. Slowly small tears build up in the
corner of her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away, not wanting to cry in front of Naruto.

"Oh, Hinata-chan, don't be so sad. They were doing their duty and nobody ever knows whats
going to happen, or if they will even make it back." Explained Naruto, as he shook his head in a
knowing manner. Hinata nodded, agreeing with what he said. It was, after all, the life of a ninja.
Though even with that she couldn't come to terms that one of her close friends had lost their only
family. Sure there were others who didn't have any, but they were strong willed, she doubted
Sakura could handle the lost so close to the next exams.

"Naruto-kun," Hinata spoke softly, not too nervous anymore sitting next to her long time crush.

"Should we visit Sakura-chan, you know, to make sure she's alright?" She squeezed her hands
together under the bar. Naruto turned to her with his fox like eyes. "No, Kakashi said to leave
Sasuke there and to let it work through." Hinata nodded her head and got up.

"Arigato, Naruto-kun for the ramen, but I better go home before they send out Neji to find me
again." She got up and bowed to Naruto and quickly left the shop blushing. Naruto just stared out
the door and smile. ‘I never knew how cute Hinata-chan could be.'

~~

Hinata continued towards her house. Before she got to close, Neji jumped in front of her and
looked down at her. Scowl firmly placed on the fair skin of the young Hyuga.

"Oh, Neji-san! I was just coming home from being with Naruto-kun." Neji's scowl grew more
fierce at the mention of the fox boy, but soon the scowl disappeared when he took in notice of his
cousins face. Her head was bowed as always, but he could since some grief from her. It might
have been her tone, usually she will be so happy to spend time with the blonde boy.

"Hinata-sama, is something wrong? If there is any-" before he could finish, Hinata grabbed him
and sobbed into his chest. What her friend Sakura was going through kept repeating in her mind.
Neji looked down uncomfortable at the sudden contact. He could feel the moisture seep into his
off white shirt.

"Hinata-sama?" He couldn't understand her mumbled words, so he pulled her away so he could
listen clearly.

"Its alright Neji-san. I just thought of what Sakura-chan must be going through." At the name of
the petal pink haired girl with emerald eyes, Neji became fully aware of what Hinata was saying,
"What happened to Sakura-san, tell me." He asked firmly, still keeping her at arms length. Hinata
quickly caught her breath when she saw the look of worry that flashed in her cousins eyes. She
slowly opened her mouth.

"Sakura-chan's parents were killed in the latest mission towards the Sound Country. She has no
family now. Sasuke is now staying with her till she gets better." Hinata finished and pulled
herself away from Neji. At the sound of Sasuke's name, Neji grew angry, but soon thought of
Sakura. ‘I need to see if she's alright with that boy there.' he thought and turned to Hinata.

"You know your way home, I will be back later." Before Hinata could protest, Neji already
sprinted off towards Sakura's house.

"Neji-san, ever since that mission with Sakura-chan, your always wondering about her. What
happened then that made you finally take notice in her, as well as everyone else?" She whispered,
turning to go home with out the usual escort by her side.

Dream from Chapter 1

~~

Nothing could be seen all around. The mist was heavy in the air and it was hard to breathe.
Inhaling slowly, green eyes squinted to see farther into the screen that lay in front of her. She
cautiously stepped forward towards a fading light. Before she made it to far, she was hurled back
and slammed to the ground. She gasped for breath as the air was knocked out of her.

The light faded away before her and a cold chill fell over her. She wrapped her arms around her
as she shivered, but soon found another pair of pale arms wrapping around her. No warmth
spread through her, it was as though the person behind her did not radiate any body heat at all.
Cold breathing fell to her side as she felt a pair of lips move against her ear.

"Sakura,"

~~

Sasuke noticed the sudden cold the enveloped the living room. He got up off the couch and made
his way to the stairs. Before his hand even touched the hand rail, a knock was heard at the front
door. He turned and made his way up to the wooden door and opened it. Sasuke's eyes narrowed
as did the persons eyes on the other side of the door.

"What are you doing here?" Sasuke asked sternly. He wanted just to punch the boys face in. They
were rivals, but they didn't know that they were rivals in more then one way.

"Where is Sakura-san?" Neji answered, ignoring the evil stare the other boy was giving him for
ignoring his question on why he was here. Sasuke just sized him up before answering, "She's
sleeping, so if I were you I would leave."

"But your not me and I don't want to leave yet, until I have talked to her." Sasuke let out a small
growl but stopped when he heard sobbing coming from upstairs. ‘Sakura' they both thought and
quickly made their way upstairs. When they finally made it to her room, they saw a small bundle
in the corner of the bed, softly shaking. Sobs were heard and a few sniffs, "Sakura-san, are you
alright?" Neji knew it was a stupid question to ask after what she was told, but he had to hear it
from her that she is alright.

Sakura's head shot up at the sudden sound besides her own. Her eyes focused in the dark and
looked at the two boys in front of her.

"Sasuke-kun? Neji-kun? What are you both doing here?"
