Ecstasy V.1.5
Chapter Two
Chapter Two
The sunlight was bright and warm; the sky a beautiful clear blue, marred only by small, fluffy clouds floating lazily across its surface. The sunlight shone down, warming up the interior of a white car comfortably and consequently, shining straight in the pale violet, nearly white eyes of the driver.
“Gh…” The driver squinted and then glanced at his slouching, grumpy looking companion in the passenger seat.
“Hand me my sunglasses will you Sasuke? They're in the glove compartment.” He said blandly. His raven haired companion sighed, sat up and opened the glove compartment. He fished around the various pens, pencils, paper clips and pieces of paper until he found a small black case. He flicked it open, pulled the glasses from it and held them lazily out to the driver.
“Here Neji…” His tone spoke volumes of his current bored demeanour.
“God Sasuke, you shouldn't be so happy and hyper all the time!” Neji told the slim brunet sarcastically as he took the glasses and slid them onto his face.
Sasuke resumed his slouching and gave his long haired friend a cold glare from the corner of his eye.
“Ou… Was that the infamously humourless Neji Hyuuga's sad attempt at a joke? Give the man his prize!” He spat acidly. Neji glanced at him, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Okay Uchiha, what's got you in such a bitchy mood?” He asked wryly, tapping his long fingers on the top of the steering wheel. Sasuke straightened and rested an arm on the door edge by the window; propping his head up with his hand he glared ice needles at the white lines on the road.
“And what's got you in such a talkative mood Hyuuga?” He spat bitterly, charcoal eyes narrowing into a freezing glower at the squirrel they zoomed past.
“Glad to see you're still a morning person…” Neji muttered in reply, reaching out to turn the radio on. Sasuke sat back up and looked ahead out the windshield for a minute before smirking in contempt.
“Oh yeah… Real morning person… That is so me… Greet the day with song and dance and dammit Neji! Where are we going again and why do I have to come!?” The Uchiha snapped glaring his ice needles at the normally quiet, tall man.
“We're going to my cousins because their toaster blew up the other day and my dad wanted me to bring them our extra one. The one we had away in storage.” Neji replied smoothly, pointedly ignoring his dark eyed friends chilling gaze.
Sasuke gave him a dry look.
“That still doesn't explain why I had to come.” He retorted. “Why didn't you bring Gaara- Oh wait, he's still at that thing with his sister isn't he?” Sasuke asked grumpily, resuming his abandoned slouch. Neji chuckled and a smirk crossed his handsome face. He glanced over at Sasuke and reached out, setting a hand on the boys' knee.
“Yes there's that… And…” He began in a low voice, drawing a confused glance from Sasuke. “I wanted to get to know you better Sasuke…” The long haired brunet whispered in a suggestive tone, his voice low and dripping with seduction.
Sasuke stared at him for a minute before a slow, feline-like smile slid across his lips. He leaned over towards Neji and stretched his body out as much as the seat belt would allow him to. Looking much like a cat, he placed a slender, pale hand on Neji's knee and rested his chin on the mans upper arm, looking up at him with smouldering charcoal eyes through a curtain of thick, dark eyelashes.
“Oh Neji…” He sang quietly at the man, drawing light circles on Neji's leg with his slim fingers. “You already know me… Better than anyone else…” He continued gazing adoringly up at him for a second before drawing back with a low, evil sounding chuckle as his friend shuddered. “Wake up Neji, we've been down that road before and we know how that turned out.” Rolling his eyes, Sasuke settled himself back against the seat, giving the brunet a dry a look. “So we are not doing that again.” He said bluntly.
Neji shot Sasuke an evil glare, of which had no effect due to his sunglasses as he returned his hand to the steering wheel.
“Damn man! I hate it when you do that!” He snarled at his singer, rolling his eyes as Sasuke merely chuckled darkly in reply. “Anyway, the truth is I was going to ask you both to come, but Gaara's got that thing with his sister till Thursday, right?” Neji asked, looking at Sasuke with a questioning glance.
“Yeah, they come home Thursday night or something like that.” Sasuke replied, observing the passing scenery as it gradually began to develop buildings and the occasional person. “But why did you want us to come?” He asked again.
Neji sighed and shook his head, as though the answer were obvious.
“Because I wanted some company for the drive, it is an hour and a half remember?”
Sasuke rolled his eyes and gave the other a bland look.
“Of course I remember Hyuuga. I drove us here on Saturday cause you hurt your foot and didn't want to push the gas peddle. How is it now by the way?” He asked, tilting his head to the side and smirking, his charcoal eyes glittering.
“My foot is fine now Uchiha.” Neji replied blandly, ignoring the stab at his pride. “Anyway, you never told me what's got you in such a pissy mood, more so than usual anyway.” Neji asked, casting a quick glance at his singer.
Sasuke sighed and slouched low in his seat. He raised a hand and idly studied his fingernails.
“I hate Mondays…” He muttered moodily. Neji raised an eyebrow as he looked ahead, an amused smile crossing his lips.
“Don't lie Sasuke; you hate everyday of the week.” Neji replied, grinning sadistically, beside him, Sasuke snickered and briefly flashed Neji the middle finger before sitting up straight.
“Yeah, but Monday's especially… When my alarm went off this morning, I knocked it off the window ledge and couldn't get it shut off before my brother woke up. You know how he is. Then when I got downstairs, mom started bitching at me about it so I told her to give him his meds and to leave me the hell alone. Thank fully Dad had already gone to work so I didn't have him bitchin' at me too.” Sasuke said, his lip curling upward in disgust. “My family's fucked.” He finished bluntly.
“Ah…” Neji said quietly, tipping his head in a nod. He didn't say anything for a long time, not much he could say really. He was used to Sasuke's complaints about his family and he always had nothing to say in return but the truth was… What could you say to that kind of statement? Especially since you were one of the ones who watched it fall apart from the sidelines.
Giving his head a shake, Neji tried to steer his thoughts from less depressing matters of the past. There was nothing that could be done about it now, so there was no sense rehashing what had happened.
He glanced at Sasuke, noting that the brunet was staring out the window, his chin resting in his hand. He couldn't see his face but he could picture the look on it; moody and bored, his eyes blank and like mirrors, allowing no one to see in.
Sighing Neji looked forward again, watching as the familiar buildings they had passed on Saturday came into view.
“Hey.” Sasuke said suddenly, tilting his head at a building. “Isn't that where we played on Saturday? The Absolute?” He asked, glancing at Neji, finally breaking the chilling silence that he had thrown between them. “What'd you think of it?”
Neji looked thoughtful for a moment before shrugging.
“It was all right. Certainly not the flashiest place we've played at, but it was… Pretty good. Nice crowd, nice area, I'd like to play there again.” He replied. Sasuke looked at him for a minute before resuming his stare out the window, returning his chin to its resting place on his hand.
Sasuke was bored out of his mind, he was wondering why he had agreed to come on this stupid trip, he hated going anywhere unless it had a point. But when Neji had called him the night before, something in the back of his head tickled and told him to go. That he'd miss something if he didn't. And everyone knew what he hated even more than going somewhere without a point was missing something. So he had agreed, only, by this point he was wondering what he could possibly miss when they were delivering a toaster.
Sighing he stared absently out the window, when quite suddenly, something caught his eye.
“Hey!” Neji, startled by Sasuke's sudden outburst threw his foot onto the break.
“What!?” He said, looking in his mirrors, out the window, everywhere for the body of a kid or cat or something.
“That… Guy…” Sasuke said slowly, his eyes narrowing as he looked into the park they'd stopped beside, his charcoal eyes following the movements of a rather happy looking blonde teen, who was bouncing around and gesturing quite enthusiastically. “He… Looks familiar…” He added, tilting his head to the side, studying the blonde.
Beside him, Neji snorted moodily and started driving again, pissed that Sasuke's exclamation had startled him.

The blonde teen in the white t-shirt and faded jeans paused in his overly enthusiastic description of last night's dinner with his parents. Slowly, the teen turned around and blinked.
“What's the matter Naruto?” Asked the brown, messy haired young man sitting on a picnic table top next to the blonde.
“I… just got a weird feeling Kiba…” Naruto replied, his eyes locked to the back of the pristine white car that went around a corner and disappeared from his view.
Kiba hopped off the picnic and table and sauntered over to his blonde friend.
“What do you mean a weird feeling?” He asked, glancing at Naruto then up the road where Naruto's blue eyes were currently fixed.
Tilting his head to the side, Naruto didn't answer right away; an odd thoughtful look on his face. Slowly he turned his head to Kiba, his eyes never leaving the road where the car had gone.
“Kiba… We know pretty much everyone around here… Don't we?” He asked, blinking several times.
Kiba looked slightly confused at the odd question.
“Yeah, I'd say so. And if we don't know them directly, our parents do.” He replied, giving the blonde a quizzical look.
Naruto turned his head to fully look at Kiba, half a grin on his face.
“Who do we know that owns a white car?”
~~~~
“Oh for the love of~ Naruto! Let go!” Kiba growled and once more tried to tug his arm free from the tanned blonde's grip.
“Come on Kiba! Aren't you at least a little curious?” Naruto asked, glancing over his shoulder at his friend whom he was tugging along up the street.
“No, I'm not!” Kiba retorted, giving his arm another futile tug.
“Sure you are!” Naruto replied with a grin, his blue eyes sparkling with the thought of adventure. “Well, the car didn't go to my house, so there goes the `Mom bought a new car' theory.” He stated as they passed his house.
“Naruto~” Kiba sighed and gave up trying to pull his arm free and settled for flicking the blonde's arm with his finger. Whenever Naruto decided to drag him into something, there was no escape; Naruto was like quicksand, fighting only made you go down faster; which of course, made Kiba wonder why the hell Naruto was his best friend in the first place. The messy haired brunet soon settled on Naruto's ability to make a day interesting as the reason they were still friends, yeah… That had to be it.
“Holy shit! The car went to Hinata's!” Naruto exclaimed suddenly, excitedly jumping and pointing at the car, like he'd discovered some new life form.
Kiba rolled his eyes and yanked his arm free of Naruto's suddenly slack hold.
“There! We know where it went! Come on now; let's go to the gym, like we were going to in the first place.” He said, starting to turn around.
“Hold yer puppies Inuzuka!” Naruto retorted, spinning around and flinging an arm about Kiba's neck, tugging him close.
“That is one nice car…” He whispered, glancing over his shoulder at the vehicle again before looking back at Kiba. “Don't you wanna know who could possibly own it? And be visiting the Hyuuga's?” He whispered, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, almost as though he hoped that would spur Kiba into leaping into action.
Kiba gave him a rather dirty look.
“You, Uzumaki, are the nosiest person I have ever had the chance to know.” Kiba stated bluntly. Naruto laughed and looked back at Hinata's house.
“Come on Kiba, you can't tell me you're not the least bit curious! That is a really nice car! Grant you, the Hyuuga family is pretty damn wealthy, but I ain't ever seen that car before.” Naruto explained, gesturing with his hand. “Don't you wanna know who it is?”
The blonde finished and stared intently at Kiba.
Kiba's eye twitched as he tried his best to ignore Naruto's bright, blue eyed look, but… It was useless and he crumbled under such a stare.
“Augh!” He shrugged out from under Naruto's arm and punched the blonde in the shoulder. “Fine damn it!” He said irritably, suddenly hating his friend. Naruto has said that in such a way that Kiba knew if he didn't go along with this, he'd be wondering all day and it would drive him nuts.
Naruto beamed at Kiba.
“Perfect! You go and talk with Hinata and I'll wait for you in the park! Cheers!” Naruto laughed and turned and ran down the street, back towards the park, leaving behind a rather dumbfounded Kiba.
“Wha…? Naruto! HEY! You OWE me Uzumaki!!” He shouted after the blonde before turning around and grumbling as he made his way over to the Hyuuga's front door. Swallowing and fully aware of the brilliant blush already blooming on his face, Kiba raised his hand and rang the doorbell.
~~~~
“Come on Kiba man… It's been twenty minutes…” Naruto grumbled rolling onto his stomach and huffing.
The blonde lay on top of his and Kiba's picnic table, his chin resting on his folded arms.
“Whoever it is can't be that interesting… And you can't usually talk to Hinata for more than five minutes on your own without freaking out…” He mumbled into the wood, rolling back over on his back.
“I can to talk to Hinata for longer then five minutes Uzumaki!”
“Gah!” Naruto started and just about leapt off the picnic table as Kiba's face loomed before his. “When'd you get back?” He asked, sitting up as Kiba leaned back.
“Just a few minutes ago.” The messy haired brunet replied. Naruto instantly got bad vibes from the grin on his face.
“So… Who… was… it?” He asked cautiously. Almost instantly, little alarms and warning systems went off inside his head as Kiba started snickering.
“What? Who was there!?” He asked again, feeling almost scared.
Kiba grinned wickedly at Naruto's, his eyes glittering mischievously.
“Hinata doesn't have a brother.” He stated still grinning. Naruto swallowed nervously. “But she as hell has a cousin!” Kiba added with a bark of laughter. “And he has a friend!” He finished cackling at the mortified look on Naruto's face.
“What!?” Naruto said in surprise, his eyes wide as he stared at Kiba. “Are you fuckin' serious!?” he demanded. “AUGH!!!” Naruto put his face in his hands and fell back, shaking his head. “No way! That's not fair!”
Kiba snickered at him and sat on the picnic table bench, flicking Naruto's arm.
“Serves you right! Abandoning me to carry out your lame ass plan for you!” Kiba retorted with another evil sounding chuckle.
“Inuzuka… You suck.” Naruto mumbled into his hands, Kiba's only reply was another bark of laughter.
“Hah! I haven't begun yet!” The brunet leaned forward, placing his face next to Naruto's ear. He grinned wickedly and whispered, “Renew my gym membership and I'll tell you his name.”
Naruto cracked open one eye and glared at his `best friend' from between his fingers.
“I hate you.”
~~~~~
“Sasuke Uchiha…”
“Yeah, Sasuke Uchiha. But seriously Naruto, you've gotta let go. You can't reach that guys level. He is way above you man. He has a look that could freeze lava and his eyes are black. Like really black. Every time he looked at me, I had to wonder if he was actually looking at me or through me. And he really doesn't like people, just give up.”
Kiba told Naruto as he calmly lifted weights.
“Sasuke… Uchiha…” Naruto repeated quietly, mechanically lifting his own.
Kiba rolled his eyes and set a weight down, reaching over with his hand and whacking the back of Naruto's head.
“Get a grip Naruto! You're acting like some deranged stalker fan girl! The guy is out of your reach!” Kiba insisted.
Naruto set his weights down and rubbed the back of his head, glaring at Kiba.
“I am not a deranged stalker fan girl…” He muttered. Kiba laughed and lifted an eyebrow at Naruto.
“Forgive me, you're a deranged stalker fan boy! Seriously Naruto. Go back to crushing on Sakura, she's actually begun to notice you now. Give up on Sasuke, I was only in the kitchen with him for a few minutes and everything about him screamed `OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE!' Just let it go.” The brunet advised Naruto.
“You know what Kiba…?” Naruto said quietly.
“Hm?” Kiba looked at his friend, his head tilted to the side. Naruto didn't reply for a long moment, but when he did, it was with a grin and glittery blue eyes.
“They said the moon was unreachable too.”
