First Impressions and Bad Memories
Hey! Told you I would update faster if you review! Hehehe! So you know the summary of the story. Now a few years past and Naruto is no longer six years old. DUH! He is now ten and things are going to start turning upside down. Read and Review.
Chapter II The Massacre and Hate
Naruto had been walking to the Uchiha district to visit Fugaku. The Uchiha head had requested to talk to Naruto and quite frankly Naruto did not know what it was he was going to say. To Naruto it was strange that Fugaku would want Naruto to go to Uchiha district when he could visit Naruto’s apartment which was a little ways away from his job. Naruto had been lost in thought and had not been paying attention when he entered the district. He did not notice the dead bodies that littered the floor nor did he notice a large snake watching him from the darkness of an alleyway.
Naruto reached the Uchiha main household and entered. He looked up from the floor to see a few clan members on the floor dead in a pool of blood. Naruto ran passed them to the dojo on the other side of the house where Fugaku spent most of his time training with Itachi. Naruto did not make it all the way because Orochimaru blocked his way. Naruto did not know who he was but Naruto got the sense that Orochimaru was not there to help or investigate. Naruto turned on his heels and ran in the opposite direction. Orochimaru was close behind him. Naruto slipped on a trail of blood. He landed on top of one of the clan members and he struggled to get up with out slipping. Naruto was able to stand but was terrified to move. He looked down at the clan member he had landed on. It was Itachi and he was barely conscious. Naruto did not know the difference and started crying. Orochimaru smiled as he reached towards Naruto.
Itachi was just laying on the floor barely conscious but aware of what was happening. His sword lay beside him and he slowly reached for it. When Orochimaru was close enough to Naruto, Itachi lashed out before collapsing into unconsciousness from lack of blood. Naruto snapped out of his terrified state and started to run. He gave one last look at Itachi before leaving the house.
Sasuke was running down the street. He had seen the dead clan members that littered the floor and was making his way home. When he reached the front door he opened it calling for his mother and father. No answer. He made his way to the dojo while he stepped over dead bodies. He opened the dojo door and saw his brother standing in the corner of the room with a bloody sword. Assuming the worst Sasuke started crying. Itachi just stood there staring at him. He was trying to formulate an excuse to tell Sasuke but he could not find one. Itachi did not want to tell Sasuke about Orochimaru or the encounter Naruto had so he did the next best thing in his mind.
“If you are going to hate me, be disgusted with me, and want to kill me, then keep living pitifully and learn to kill me. When you do so, then you will know truth” Sasuke looked at his older brother. He sounded so cold and Sasuke began to cry again. Itachi just stared at him before disappearing.
Naruto was sitting in a dark corner of his apartment crying. He did not know what to do for he was confused and scared. He heard soft foot steps walking around his apartment and wondered if it was the man that looked like a snake. Not chancing a look Naruto burrowed deeper into the darkness but it seemed that who ever was in his apartment knew where he was. The stranger turned on a light and kneeled in front of Naruto. Naruto looked up and noticed it was Itachi. Naruto launched himself onto the older Uchiha and started crying. Itachi just knelt there on the floor holding Naruto and waited for his crying to stop. Itachi whispered a few things in Naruto’s ear before bidding him good bye and disappearing. Naruto just stood there looking at the spot where Itachi just knelt. Things could not get any worse.
The next day followed and the next. Naruto did not see Sasuke for another few weeks before he appeared at school again. Naruto approached Sasuke but did not have the chance to speak because the last Uchiha heir began to interrogate him.
“Naruto were you not supposed to meet my father?”
“Y…y…y…yeah. W…w…why?”
“Because I found it strange that you did not report the death of my family”
“S…S…Sasuke what a…a…are you talking about?”
“Naruto you were there. I know you were. How else would there be a smear of blood half way down the hall leading towards the dojo.”
“Sasuke…”
“Naruto you saw my brother kill my family didn’t you?”
“No.”
“Liar”
“I’m not lying. You know I never lie”
“Then you saw him…”
“No!”
“Naruto you have to spill sometime. Tell me. Why are you protecting him?”
“Sasuke…”
“Tell me!” A few Jounin stood a few ways away. They trusted the last heir about Naruto because it was the only possible lead and they were right. So was Sasuke because it did seem that Naruto was protecting Itachi.
“I promised I wouldn’t tell and never break promises”
“Well your going to have to break this one” One of the Jounin stepped forward and grabbed Naruto, taking him to the Hokage’s office. ’Things are happening the way he said they were going to happen. I’m glad I listened to him. Now I have to figure out how to tell the Hokage about this. Interesting’ Naruto thought to himself as he was lead to the Hokage’s office. The Jounin knocked on the door and entered when told to, dragging Naruto inside. The Hokage looked at Naruto before looking at the Jounin.
“What seems to be the problem?”
“Hokage-sama, Naruto is withholding information concerning the deaths of the Uchiha Clan.” Sandaime looked at Naruto waiting for him to explain but no explanation came.
“Naruto. Explain”
“I can’t”
“Why?”
“Itachi told me what was to happen and told me to talk to you when the events happened”
“So he knew this was to happen?”
“Yes”
“Well now you are here so now you can tell me what happened”
“You were not paying attention to what I was saying. He told me to speak to YOU and only YOU. I can not tell you with everyone present.”
“Does Sasuke not deserve the truth?”
“Yes, but Itachi told me that he needs to make the struggle for truth on his own and that when Sasuke finally becomes strong enough that the truth will be apparent to him.”
“I see.”
“Hokage-sama?”
“Is it that serious that Itachi has to go through such lengths to cover his tracks.”
“I can not answer that or argue that opinion with everyone here. The information I carry is only to be heard by you and only you.”
“Very well. All of you leave.” Sasuke was about to argue when Iruka covered Sasuke’s mouth with his hand and dragged him out. Sandaime waited for the door to close and the chakra to vanish down the hall before allowing Naruto to explain and that is what Naruto did. He explained everything in detail and left no information left out. When he was finished Sandaime understood why Sasuke did not deserve the truth.
“Itachi was doing the right thing in his mind, but I wonder how long he is going to last without coming to the village.”
“I don’t know.”
“Naruto, he will go to you for refuge so do just that. Give him a place to stay when he visits.”
“Alright. What if he want to walk around the village?”
“He knows the transformation jutsu and can perform it to not look like a genjutsu.”
“Interesting.”
“Yes. It is. You are dismissed”
“Sarutobi…”
“I&# 8217;ll handle Sasuke. Don’t worry Naruto I’ll make him understand.”
A few weeks past and things turned slightly back to normal. Slightly being that it was close to spring and people were becoming lovey dovey, especially Sasuke. Naruto found out that the Hokage had told Sasuke that if he was to know what Itachi told Naruto that Itachi would come back and kill Naruto. Sasuke would not hear of it and began to protect Naruto from any harm and he began training until he collapsed so he could be strong enough to protect Naruto. Naruto just gave up with talking the Uchiha out of it and decided to go along with the whole thing which did not set well with Sasuke’s fan girls. Sasuke did not care and neither did Naruto so hey, they broke hearts.
Two years past with nothing eventful happening. Naruto graduated the academy after they helped him find out why he could not perform the shadow clone jutsu. Apparently he gets nervous every time he is about to perform it and never puts enough chakra to sustain the clone. After that mess was cleared out thanks to Mizuki and his betrayal Naruto was able to learn the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu and perform it very well. He was assigned to team 7and his sensei was Hatake Kakashi. They had their first mission and he was able to defeat Haku and Kakashi killing by accident, while Zabuza died killing Gato. Naruto was eager to return home and start to train some more. Sasuke had become distant from him but his crush on Naruto was still there.
They arrived home in the early morning and Naruto went straight to bed when he entered his apartment. Kakashi had given them a day off but the following day they were to meet at the bridge. Naruto spent most of the day sleeping, but other than sleeping he had been walking around the village. He knew what time of the year it was. The Chuunin Exams were approaching and he wanted to watch as usual. Naruto made his way to the main gates and sat on the roof of a building greeting the visitors as they walked in. Some cheerfully greeted him back and stayed to talk awhile, while others just said a simple hello and kept walking.
Gaara was excited to be back at Konoha after eleven years and he could not wait to see Naruto again. His siblings knew what he anticipated and could not hold down a smile. Kankuro had warmed up to Gaara after the assassination attempt when he was younger. After getting to know his little brother some Kankuro concluded that he was not so bad and played with Gaara when their father was not around. Temari just walked next to Gaara with a smile on her face. She knew how much her younger brother loved Naruto and how much he still does. They entered the gates and were surprised that they really did not have to look for the rambunctious blonde because he sat on a roof talking to complete strangers. Baki saw this and pulled them away, leading them to where they were to stay for the duration of the Exams. Gaara was pissed off but Temari had to calm his anger saying that they would look for Naruto later when Baki was not around. Liking that idea Gaara continued to walk in silence.
Naruto sat on the roof with a couple of sound nin. They were more friendly than their comrades that passed by a few minutes before and Naruto was all too happy to talk to them. Eventually they had to leave but more nin from different villages stopped by to talk to Naruto. Some knew Naruto from previous attempts at the exam and wanted to catch up. Naruto was just happy that he made friends outside of Konoha and that three of them were to succeed their kages when they were ready. ’When they take hold of their village when they get promoted to being a kage, I am going to be quite busy.’ Naruto was right because they had already planned on having Naruto be the official ambassador for all three villages. ’So let me see, there’s Kenji who will be Mizukage, then there’s Oni who will be Raikage, and Mokito who will be Tsuchikage. Yup that’s all of them. I wonder if Gaara will become Kazekage. Doubt it though. From what I heard from some of the ANBU the current Kazekage is unwilling to have any of his children become successors. Interesting.’ Naruto felt a small smack on the side of his head and looked at Mokito. She sat there staring at him. He knew that she was questioning him and he just smiled. Mokito spoke very little and when she did it was wise to listen to her. She was a genius and one hell of a shinobi. Problem was that her team failed the exam because they lost their scroll but they did not lose it with out a fight though. It was her second time taking it and she hoped the best for the other teams. Oni was loud. Louder than Naruto but then again the real Naruto was quiet, reserved, and he knew how to fight but held back a lot. Oni on the other hand did no know his own strength and would seriously injure his opponents, but asides from that he had a big heart and was very understanding. Kenji was more like a born leader. He was the sharpest mind out of the entire Village Hidden in the Mist, as well as strongest. He loved strategizing and working with others. He had a lot of patience and he would listen before giving advice. The four of them made an odd group but still they were friends.
Naruto waited till the last of the nin entered before heading Ichiraku for dinner. His friends followed and they met up with Naruto’s team. Kenji fell in love with Sakura instantly but the others hated Sasuke. The liked Sakura because she smiled and joked around, but Sasuke just sat there and brooded. Mokito hated him and blamed him for the thick tension that hung over the group. She left in a huff, so Naruto, Kenji, Oni, and Sakura ran after her, not wanting to stay with Sasuke. Sasuke just shrugged it off and headed for home.
The next day Naruto met up with Sakura and Sasuke at the bridge. Sakura for once greeted Naruto while Sasuke just glared. Sakura sighed before asking Naruto when he was going to be with his friends again.
“Why Sakura? You like Kenji?”
“Well I uh…I…yeah” Sakura blushed while Naruto laughed a little. He was to take his friends to dinner again that night and Sakura could tag along. Sakura was happy to hear that and started to wonder what she would wear. At that moment Kakashi appeared, giving them a lame excuse for why he was late. Team 7 did not buy it so he just handed them the Chuunin Exam applications. Told them what they were to do and then poofed from sight. The three of them sighed, concluding that they were to take the day off or train. Naruto chose to take half the day off before going to spar with his friends. Sakura liked the idea and followed Naruto to get some lunch. Sasuke on the other hand went home to train alone.
Naruto and Sakura made it to an alleyway which was more like a short cut to the restaurant. Sakura looked behind her and saw a square rock. Suppressing the urge to laugh Sakura tapped Naruto on the shoulder and gestured behind her. Naruto caught sight of a moving square rock. Naruto sighed before approaching.
“Alright Konohamaru, time to stop with the stupidity.” Konohamaru then pops out with his friends. Naruto just shook his head before turning around and walking away. Sakura followed but stopped when Konohamaru made fun of her forehead. Running away Konohamaru runs literally into Kankuro. Kankuro picks him up and threatens to beat him. Temari urges him to leave Konohamaru alone but being a thickheaded moron that he is, Kankuro does not listen. Just as Kankuro is about to hit Konohamaru , Sasuke shows up and hits Kankuro’s hand with a small rock.
Naruto just stands there not saying a word. Being a demon holder has its advantages and being able to sense another demon or demon holder was an ability Naruto was happy to inherit. He felt that who ever was the other holder was approaching silently and made sure they were not sensed. Then again, they probably did not know Naruto. Just as expected the demon holder Naruto sensed shows up and he is shocked and happy to see who it is. Gaara hung upside down from a tree branch of the tree Sasuke was sitting in. In Naruto’s eyes Gaara had not changed. He still had the same messy red hair and warm teal eyes. The only differences was that he now had a ’love’ tattoo on his head, his looked cold on the outside but Naruto knew him better than that, and he had a gourd strapped to his back. ’I wonder if he still blushes when I kiss him?’ Naruto’s thoughts were cut short when he noticed that Gaara was staring back at him. Naruto just smiled and nodded his head. Gaara smirked and vanished in a whirl of sand. He reappeared on front of Naruto smiling. Sakura and Sasuke just looked at the pair in confusion.
Gaara was happy to see Naruto again. Naruto was happy to see Gaara again. As expected Gaara blushed lightly out of reflex. Then it hit Sasuke. It was Gaara from eleven years ago. Jealousy started to seep into Sasuke’s judgment as he watched the two converse with each other. Out of curiosity Naruto leaned forward and kissed Gaara. Gaara blushed and looked down at his feet. ’Yup, he still looks cute.’ Naruto thought while he hugged Gaara. Sasuke was fuming and Temari and Kankuro watched him from the corner of their eyes. Temari looked at Kankuro who looked at her back. They both knew what was going to happen and the apparent hate that the Uchiha had openly shown against their brother made them worry.

Oni was loud. Louder than Naruto but then again the real Naruto was quiet, reserved, and he knew how to fight but held back a lot. Oni on the other hand did no know his own strength and would seriously injure his opponents, but asides from that he had a big heart and was very understanding. Kenji was more like a born leader. He was the sharpest mind out of the entire Village Hidden in the Mist, as well as strongest. He loved strategizing and working with others. He had a lot of patience and he would listen before giving advice. The four of them made an odd group but still they were friends.
Naruto waited till the last of the nin entered before heading Ichiraku for dinner. His friends followed and they met up with Naruto’s team. Kenji fell in love with Sakura instantly but the others hated Sasuke. The liked Sakura because she smiled and joked around, but Sasuke just sat there and brooded. Mokito hated him and blamed him for the thick tension that hung over the group. She left in a huff, so Naruto, Kenji, Oni, and Sakura ran after her, not wanting to stay with Sasuke. Sasuke just shrugged it off and headed for home.
The next day Naruto met up with Sakura and Sasuke at the bridge. Sakura for once greeted Naruto while Sasuke just glared. Sakura sighed before asking Naruto when he was going to be with his friends again.
“Why Sakura? You like Kenji?”
“Well I uh…I…yeah” Sakura blushed while Naruto laughed a little. He was to take his friends to dinner again that night and Sakura could tag along. Sakura was happy to hear that and started to wonder what she would wear. At that moment Kakashi appeared, giving them a lame excuse for why he was late. Team 7 did not buy it so he just handed them the Chuunin Exam applications. Told them what they were to do and then poofed from sight. The three of them sighed, concluding that they were to take the day off or train. Naruto chose to take half the day off before going to spar with his friends. Sakura liked the idea and followed Naruto to get some lunch. Sasuke on the other hand went home to train alone.
Naruto and Sakura made it to an alleyway which was more like a short cut to the restaurant. Sakura looked behind her and saw a square rock. Suppressing the urge to laugh Sakura tapped Naruto on the shoulder and gestured behind her. Naruto caught sight of a moving square rock. Naruto sighed before approaching.
“Alright Konohamaru, time to stop with the stupidity.” Konohamaru then pops out with his friends. Naruto just shook his head before turning around and walking away. Sakura followed but stopped when Konohamaru made fun of her forehead. Running away Konohamaru runs literally into Kankuro. Kankuro picks him up and threatens to beat him. Temari urges him to leave Konohamaru alone but being a thickheaded moron that he is, Kankuro does not listen. Just as Kankuro is about to hit Konohamaru , Sasuke shows up and hits Kankuro’s hand with a small rock.
Naruto just stands there not saying a word. Being a demon holder has its advantages and being able to sense another demon or demon holder was an ability Naruto was happy to inherit. He felt that who ever was the other holder was approaching silently and made sure they were not sensed. Then again, they probably did not know Naruto. Just as expected the demon holder Naruto sensed shows up and he is shocked and happy to see who it is. Gaara hung upside down from a tree branch of the tree Sasuke was sitting in. In Naruto’s eyes Gaara had not changed. He still had the same messy red hair and warm teal eyes. The only differences was that he now had a ’love’ tattoo on his head, his looked cold on the outside but Naruto knew him better than that, and he had a gourd strapped to his back. ’I wonder if he still blushes when I kiss him?’ Naruto’s thoughts were cut short when he noticed that Gaara was staring back at him. Naruto just smiled and nodded his head. Gaara smirked and vanished in a whirl of sand. He reappeared on front of Naruto smiling. Sakura and Sasuke just looked at the pair in confusion.
Gaara was happy to see Naruto again. Naruto was happy to see Gaara again. As expected Gaara blushed lightly out of reflex. Then it hit Sasuke. It was Gaara from eleven years ago. Jealousy started to seep into Sasuke’s judgment as he watched the two converse with each other. Out of curiosity Naruto leaned forward and kissed Gaara. Gaara blushed and looked down at his feet. ’Yup, he still looks cute.’ Naruto thought while he hugged Gaara. Sasuke was fuming and Temari and Kankuro watched him from the corner of their eyes. Temari looked at Kankuro who looked at her back. They both knew what was going to happen and the apparent hate that the Uchiha had openly shown against their brother made them worry.
