Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Forbidden ❯ WARNING: Forbidden land: no trespassing! ( Chapter 4 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
“Alright, we'll mark this tree with my kuninai, and if something goes wrong, let off this smoke signal.”
It had been about twenty minutes since Azarni was challenged, when the group reached the entrance of the land. The group set up emergency plans in case something went wrong, and then started to go their separate ways. Azarni faced her friends who were lined up in front of her. Behind her about ten feet away, was the warning sign.
“Azarni, are you sure you want to do this,” Ren asked with a hand on her friend's shoulder. Grinning a dangerous smile, she replied.
“Do you remember who you're talking to, Ren? Nara Azarni never backs down from a challenge. Do not worry about me, I'll be just fine.”
“Alright then,” Yokio declared after a few moments of silence as he looked at the girl with his arms crossed. “It's time you were off.” Nodding her head, the girl left in her direction as the others left in theirs.
“Well this can't be to complicated,” she thought to herself as she walked past the “WARNING: Forbidden land: no trespassing” sign.
The forest looked the same as the rest of the land, so why is it forbidden? Sighing, she went along the obstacles of: trees, rocks, and bushes. The birds chirped loudly, as Azarni pushed the low tree branches out of her view. The forest breeze blew through her hair, cooling her from the harsh rays of the sun that beat down upon her. She had been exploring the area for ten minutes now, and did not find anything different or odd around. There were no poisonous plants around, there were no bruised trees, or anything what so ever different from any other forest that she could detect. Disappointed, she stood straight up, and whipped sweat from her brow. Deciding that the coast was clear, she laid her head back against her hands, and walked around aimlessly as she looked at the sky.
“Well this is stupid, there's nothing different about this forest than any other,” she declared. However, she was soon going to find out that she was wrong. Very soon, her eyes bulged out of her head as she fell a good yard down, onto a mound of different sized rocks.
“What on earth is up with this,” she yelled as she stood to her feet. “Why is there a ditch in the middle of no where, filled with rocks? …Oh whatever, forget you stupid rocks,” she yelled stomping her feet down on them. Startled as the rocks below her moved a bit, she bolted off them. Looking back behind her at it once she was on solid ground, she froze as if she was a stone herself.
“Rocks aren't supposed to move! Rocks are not alive! Could this be why the forest if forbidden? Is it haunted with living rocks?” With a face full of surprise and a speck of curiosity, she leaned over the edge of the rather large pit. The rocks had stopped moving now, but Azarni still stared at it with non-blinking eyes to make sure nothing would jump out at her when she decided to leave. Soon getting easily bored of this, she looked around the pit to see some rather odd things.
“Old, medal ninja wire,” she questioned to herself. “That quality of thread is rarely used now a days, I've only seen it in books. By the look of them, they are very old. Perhaps there really was a battle here… and being that the strings is going down under the rocks… That means that one of the sides' forces is under here! And if there are strings down here there re probably,” Azarni quickly looked above her and saw just what she thought she'd see. There was a web-like design of ninja threads above her head, stained with a faded deep red here and there. Chills ran up and down her spine, as she stood straight up on her feet. Azarni then quickly turned to keep looking at once, not wanting to give any sort of threat, a chance to hurt her. She hoped the strange things would lessen, but this wish would not be granted. Soon she reached an area that assured her that a battle had taken place. Many trees were snapped in two, rocks were stained with blood, and old rusted weapons lay on the ground.
“What happened here,” she whispered, as wind blew wildly before her eyes. “What is wrong with this place?”
She got increasingly nervous, and thought that perhaps; she should have turned down the challenge. There was a reason why she was not allowed back there, and a reason why she was not told why. Azarni started to reason with herself that she should go home, and fast. Something though, stopped her from doing so. She did not know why, but she could not allow herself t not find out what was buried beneath the rocks in the pit.
The Nara girl then slowing walked back towards the pit, hiding behind trees as she went like a small child as she neared the pit. “Hello,” she asked rather loudly, as if the thing under the pit would talk to her, that is, if there was anything down there anymore. She then scurried up to the edge again, to see if the rocks could move.
“Hello, is anyone down there,” she called a bit more softy this time. Nothing happened. Being a bit frustrated, she yelled even harder until something landed on her shoulder. Her whole body froze yet again, as she slowly looked up at the creature; a sparrow. She then went from frozen on her knees, to limp on the ground as she tapped her fingers on the ground. Blowing the long pieces of hair out of her face, she stood up again to try a different method. She then jumped down into the pit, and did what she should of done in the first place: Pick up the stones, and uncover the thing. With her mind running wild of what she would find, she tossed the rocks over her head as fast as she could not knowing just how deep down the things would be. Soon enough, after a few hours of work, she discovered something.
“ Oh my gosh, it's an arm! A living, hairy, man's arm,” she exclaimed as she jumped back as it twitched a bit. It soon got up, and ran around on its fingers until it bumped into rocks that it soon threw in all different directions. Azarni was a bit frightened, and amused at the same time. It seemed as if it was looking for something, and did not look as if it noticed her at all. She slowly ventured closer to the arm, that had quickly dug many feet down in the ten minutes it had been freed. Azarni gave it another two hours of attention, and saw it dig another twenty feet of rock! The sun was starting to go down, when the arm had discovered something…
“Finally, I knew I'd get out someday! I told that accursed Nara Shikamaru he couldn't keep me hear forever and he is going to pay for these long years in the pit!”
