Grand Summoning Jutsu

"greetings dragon seal" his calm voice echoed through the white room. "and welcome to the deepest part of your mind"

"Carbuncle..." She breathed, lowering Herself on one knee one hand planted flat on the floor as she bowed her head in greatest respect for him. "the God of Light" the glowing blue animal, resembled that of a squirrel. His eyes black and a large red ruby shimmered on the middle of his forehead.

"that's right child" his voice seemed to sooth her pains.

"how? You are not in the list on the scroll"

"no, I am not." he began "I can only be summoned by the deepest desires for your own heart."

Her eyes lifted to the glowing blue God to take in his words.

"He did not betray you, he thought it was you" his voice telling her the truth behind what she had seen. "he loves you"

"I need to be more trusting"

"no, you lived along time on this earth. You were just protecting yourself."

"why have you come now?" her voice seemed to question his presents.

"you truly do not know?" he continued his small squirrel like mouth moved to his speech.

"Temari?"

"if you wish to save her, I can do so." he paused "for it was because of your deepest desire to save her that I was summoned."

"you can save her?"

"I can give the girl back her life." his clam voice soothing though the emptiness of the white room.

"how?"

he paused for only a brief moment staring at the Seal with his black eyes. "In giving hers back to her, your hearts will be granted as well. The wish you have been looking for, for so long." he again paused.

Her eyes widened, she knew what he meant. And she knew what she needed to do to save her friend. "I understand" her eyes fell to the floor as flashes of Gaara's face seem to smile back at her, Kankuros voice whining for more food, Temari, her best friend who supported her through all that they have been through.

"then you know what you must do." he continued. "you must say your good byes"

She knew Gaara, he would not let her go she needed to do it swiftly before he could stop her. Her blue and green eyes lifted to the God as he began to walk his way from the room.

"thank you"

in a flash of light the same as before slipping her from her daydream her eyes fluttered open to find Temari on her last breath, grabbing for as much air as possible before having it snuffed out.

Gaara stared nervously down at his dieing sister, his eyes wide. He didn't think it would be her, if anything he though he would be the first to die.

Kankuro also standing over her, nearly in tears. "Temari......"

"I'm so sorry..." Maya's breath seemed calm and sweet. Gaara lifted his frightened eyes to her in confusion. His sister was dieing, how could she be so calm. "I hope I can make it up to you some day" glancing over at Kankuro, then to the Kazekage.

Temari now short of breath feeling her life slip between her fingers, she died like a ninja, but protecting a friend she loved. She was ready for her final fate to take her away into the next life.

Maya lifted her now tear filled eyes, with a small smile. "I love you, more than anything" her eyes dead into Gaara's. His heart sank at her words, he felt something was wrong.

"Maya... wha..."

Before he could say another word her she glided her hand hovering it just above Temari's chest. A white glow from her palm as a similar color tribal symbol formed beneath them. Her hair raised to the gentle gusts of warm wind. Gaara and Kankuro closed their eyes from the sharp pains of the piercing light, still hearing Temari wheezes.

Within seconds the light receded, upon opening his eyes shot them down to the small figure in his arms, then shooting up across to find Temari sitting where Maya once did. His wife now lay in his arms, spitting up the last bit of blood as some landed over his cheek. She had taken her place in death, he was holding her in her last moments.

"no..." His voice filled with tears "MAYA!" her hand slowly tried to reach to touch his face, it proved to be too far for her, the last bit of strength was stolen from her. Everything went black as she dropped her hand to the sand.

"NO!" he lowered his head in uncontrollable tears, Temari still in shock not knowing what had just happened. Kankuro heaving in the back of his throat.

Her blue and green eyes began to contract and her fingers recoiled slightly as she lay in his arms. The scroll he kept in his jacket began to levitate from him over her still, cold body.

His eyes wide with tears as the light green fire ignited burning his name from the pages. The fire began to eat away the paper, the ashes escaping in the gusts of the warmth of the night. Fading from existence.

His breathing became racked with sorrow, he was alone again.

"Gaara..." Temari breathed her eyes wide looking down at his dead wife still in his arms. He lifted his head once again to his sister removed one of his arms from around the corps and hugged her. Temari lost control in tears at her brothers first embrace of her shocked her.

"what the hell...." Kankuro couldn't believe it, she was gone, dead.

"Fear not, young siblings of the sand" a calm voice came from behind them, a glowing blue animal stepped forward on the beach towards them as the snapped their heads to him. "I am Carbuncle, the God of light"

"you are not in the scroll" a teary Gaara answered almost in a snap.

"you are correct" he paused. "the seal is the only one with the power to summon me, the god of life"

"bring her back..." He sniffed.

"I can't"

"your the god of 'LIFE'" he yelled.

"be still, young prince of the Desert" his calm voice filled the listening ears. "it was by her own choice to give her life for her friend. Intern she was granted her eternal wish, her soul is now free."

Gaara widened his eyes even more. "No.... I didn't..."

"she has lived a long time, seeing and doing much, it was her time to go"

"I never..." He breathed "I never told her I loved her, not once..." His voice quivered.

"she does know." he immediately followed " for she hears your voice now, through me. Her tears are of joy for her family."

"I want her back..." Temari said in an airy quivering voice.

"do not be so ungrateful, she has done this for your family. In her years she has not known one until now. You gave her that gift and she was more than happy to save one she cares for."

Gaara pale eyes fell to the lifeless body in his arms, her eyes were now closed a slight smile on her face as the blood had dried from moment before.

"Gaara of the Sand." Carbuncles voice lifted Louder to him. He shifted his irises to him once again "do not let your patients fail you, the ring she gave is truth in this life and the next. You may see her once again." he paused as his teary eyes widened with shock. "for the time is near for the next seal will be born of the earth. Because of her selfless act she will take my place on the throne of light to rule over all elements."

"..." He breathed heavily watching the light god turn his back to walk from them. "wait..."

"in this life or the next, my kingdom will live on through her, your souls will meet again in the event of your death. She will be waiting for you as the Goddess of Compassion, mercy, life and " he paused "love" with his final words he vanished, leaving the siblings staring off to where he had disappeared.

He hugged her body close to him breathing heavily, hoping by some amazing twist of fate she would wrap her arms around him like she had done so many times before. Nothing; silence.

Gaara reached around in his awkward position holding her body and slipped off the ring she had given him. In the light of the moon he could read it as clear as day 'soulmates'. He lifted his head and closed his eyes holding the ring between his fingers before slipping it back on.
