AKEMI'S POV:
I opened my eyes to see Kakashi in front of me. The wolf slashed his arm. Blood poured from his wound… but it didn't seem to bother him.
He… he was always protecting me…
“Kakashi-chan?”
He was smiling at me. Where was he all this time?
“Are you okay, Akemi-chan?” said Kakashi, smiling.
How can he be calm at a time like this…?
“I… I…”
“It's okay Akemi-chan,” said Kakashi. “Everyone makes mistakes…”
I was happy that he wasn't asking me about… it…
He was still holding my hand.
I blushed.
I coughed rather loudly, and Kakashi released my hand.
The wolf was gone.
“Eh?”
I saw Hideki. He looked… sad…
“I'm sorry…” he said.
He started running away.
“Not again…” I said. “Argh!”
Kakashi and I ran after him.
We were sucked back into the outside place of the hotel. Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke were nowhere to be seen… but so were the monsters.
It was dead quiet.
“Don't let your guard down…” said Kakashi.
“Nah… I'll just let a monster eat me…” I said sarcastically, taking the kunai Kakashi gave me.
There was no noise at all… until…
I heard someone crying…
I went toward the noise very slowly and cautiously.
It was Hideki.
“Hideki-kun!” I said angrily. “You caused so much trouble…!”
“I don't want to talk to you…” said Hideki. “Traitor…”
“What are you talking about?” I said. “You were gone, I couldn't find you!”
“AGH… SHUT-UP!” said Hideki.
Monsters were coming out from the darkness… monsters from nightmares…
“This is exactly why people don't help you!” I said angrily.
“Akemi-chan…” said Kakashi.
“Why are you so sour?” I shot at Hideki. “You don't have to…!”
He's like you…” said Sai.
I stopped myself.
Was he like me?
“All I want is my mom and dad…” Hideki said sadly.
I blinked.
FLASHBACK:
Mommy… mommy where are you going?” I asked.
I was six at the time, the day my mother left us; the day of my birthday.
Somewhere... anywhere but here…” she replied quietly.
Mommy, why are you leaving?”
My mother slapped me. I remembered tears coming from my eyes, dripping from my cheeks. My mom didn't even flinch, or looked sorry that she hit me.
She was angry.
Why can't you understand!” she screamed. “I HATE YOU!”
She tried slapping me again. But this time, my father stopped her.
I heard him yelling… yelling at my mother. But she didn't care.
She tried leaving. I quickly clenched her hand.
MOMMY!” I cried. “I'm sorry for any bad thing that I did… I promise I won't do it again!”
She flung my hand off hers.
STOP!” I cried. “DON'T GO!”
Pitiful child…” she spat.
She lifted her suitcase and started leaving again.
MOMMY! MOMMY! DON'T GO!” I screamed. “DON'T GO MOMMY! DON'T GO!”
I tried running after her, but my father stopped me.
DON'T GO MOMMY!”
She ignored me.
WHY ARE YOU LEAVING? WHY?”
She was fading, I could barely see her black coat.
MOMMY! DON'T GO!”
MOMMY!”
MOMMY!”
END OF FLASHBACK
Why did you leave, mom? My fists were clenched.
Hideki stared at me.
I remembered how my hand went through him. He's just an unrest spirit. I'm treating shit to someone who went through the same thing as me…
Am I a monster…?
I sadly looked at him. If he knew that his parents were… gone… maybe…
The glowing light ahead of us…
Was it his parents?
There were three lights… though…
Who was the other light?
Hideki went toward me and gave me a sad smile.
“Were you like me… alone?”
I stared at him. The wolf in my head howled.
The wolf… the wolf…
Why did it keep responding?
My dad… did he really suicide? Or was it something he had to do…?
I gave him a warm smile.
“Hmm… sometimes…” said Kakashi, before I spoke, “People, who are alone, eventually find someone in the end.”
He smiled at me again. The grin, it always gets me…
I guess… Kakashi was alone too.
“Tch…” I said, looking away. “I guess it's well said.”
Hideki smiled.
“But… you know we're pals, right?” I asked Hideki.
He nodded.
Hmm… so adorable. Like Naruto.
“Yeah…” he replied. I gave him a high five. A down-low too, but he missed.
“HAHAH!” I said, laughing.
Hideki looked frustrated. Kakashi laughed too.
The light seemed to beckon to him.
“Hey Hideki…” I said. “Look who I found.”
Hideki turned to the light. It glowed more brightly now.
“Mommy?” said Hideki. “Daddy?”
It was going to the doorway; shining doorway that was also calling to Hideki.
He was coming closer to the lights. They were forming, human bodies now. One was male, and the other was female.
They grasped Hideki's hands… and they walked slowly to the doorway of light.
I gave Hideki a small wave goodbye. He waved back.
“I'll come visit you, okay Akemi-chan!”
“Okay!” I yelled back. I held my tears… but… I accidentally let one loose…
The doorway was closing.
KAKASHI'S POV:
“It was good that he'll see his parents on the other side,” said Akemi, a tear was rolling down her cheek. “He's lucky… to be with them.”
I didn't want to ask her about her parents. Instead, I wiped her tear.
“I'm sure you'll meet them again someday.” I said.
I saw one more spirit gliding toward the portal. I thought Akemi might've seen him… but she was… blushing…looking at the ground.
The third spirit… the one I was unsure of.
He grinned at me. Akemi looked sort of like him… but I couldn't put my finger on it.
“Please take care of her…” said the man. “And tell her it wasn't her fault…”
He drifted toward the portal, which closed instantly when he entered.
Was he Akemi's…dad…?
“I will,” I said.
“Did you say something?” asked Akemi.
She was still blushing.
“It's nothing…”
I studied her.
“What's up with you?” I asked.
“AHAHAHA!” she yelled, slapping my back, really hard. “N… N… NOTHING!”
“O… okay…”
Akemi was trying real hard not to look at me.
That got her attention. She looked at me.
“You… erm…” said Akemi.
She's so… I can't explain it.
“All I did was wipe your tear,” I said. “Why… did you expect more?”
“N… no…” said Akemi, walking away.
I shrugged.
She probably did.
It was a good thing she didn't slap me… I thought maybe I embarrassed her or something… which I already did.
Girls are mysterious to please sometimes…
“Let's find the others,” said Akemi.
As we reached toward the gang… they were perfectly fine…
AKEMI'S POV:
Yesterday was… creepy… a little too creepy.
“I saw a ghost boy,” said Kakashi and I. “And then some.”
“We saw monsters that were actually real,” said Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura.
“That's crazy…” we all said in unison.
Okay… reeling into reality… whatever that was.
I packed my kimono and my sash when I went to my room.
“May I come in?”
It was Kakashi.
“Sure… I guess…”
He sat on my bed. I did too.
“Akemi-chan… what's with the wolf?” said Kakashi.
Hmm…
“I really don't know…” I said. “Just… something about it…”
“You know I'll protect you… no matter what, right?” said Kakashi.
I smiled at him, blushing a little.
“I don't think you need protection,” said Kakashi. “I mean… you're already too…”
“Thanks…” I interrupted, slightly annoyed.
“Your father…” said Kakashi. “I feel bad for you… but don't blame yourself…”
I gave him a confused look.
“I don't think it was your fault…” said Kakashi.
“It's not like you've been in my shoes…” I said, a little angry. Why is he prying in my personal life? Or is he trying to help me?
“I have been…” said Kakashi. “And I know it's painful…”
Did his dad…?
“Don't stress yourself that hard,” said Kakashi, patting my shoulder.
I… never felt this much warmth for a long time… not since my dad was around.
“I hope… he forgives me…” I said sadly. “I am sorry…”
Kakashi tightened his grip very softly.
“I think he got the message…” Kakashi replied. “You cried a lot yesterday…”
“No… it was just… I had mood swings…”
“You sure?”
“YES!” I said angrily.
“Okay…”
“I don't very easily, you know… cry...”
“Sure you don't…” said Kakashi, grinning.
That tone… I wanted to rip it from his throat.
“I DON'T!”
“Okay Akemi-chan… okay…”
I huffed and puffed.
Calm down Akemi, calm down…
Ok… officially calm down…
“Thanks… for everything…” I said. Matters didn't need to get worse, did it?
“What?”
“You heard nothing bub…” I said, hitting him with a pillow.
“Erk…”
Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura came in.
“Hey Akemi-chan…” said Naruto.
“What's up?” I asked.
“Nothing…” they said. O… kay…
“I can't believe the rumor weren't true…” complained Naruto, almost like he wanted to blurt it out.
“What rumors?”
“Shut up, Naruto!” hissed Sakura.
“What rumors?” I demanded, standing up.
“Erk… you guys…” said Kakashi. Did he know too…?
“What… rumors…?” I said again, even more deadly.
“Um…” they squeaked.
“Kakashi-chan!” I shot at Kakashi, who jumped. “What rumors?”
“I… erm…”
Sakura, Naruto, and even Sasuke were crouched under Kakashi. But they'll have to do better… because I can do MUCH more harm…
I cracked my knuckles.
“TELL ME DAMMIT!” I barked.
“Well… you see…” said Naruto.
“Hmm?”
“This spa hotel place… was haunted…”
Those words hit me like a bomb. Geez, what an impact it made. It blew Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke off into the planet Pluto… but they all came back eventually.
“You… you guys knew that I was scared about ghosts, monsters, etcetera…” I said, my body flaring, “And… you tricked me into going to this… HAUNTED SPA HOTEL!”
“Erm…”
“Well, technically… it's not that haunted,” said Naruto.
“Shut it…” snapped Sasuke.
“There was supposed to be this insane killer around the woods,” said Naruto, ignoring Sasuke. “He just broke out of the asylum… I think he was carrying a chainsaw or something…”
I was shocked. That man I saw earlier… in the woods…
… he had a chainsaw too…
My body was shaking.
“I think I saw him…” I said. My voice was fainting…
“Really!” said Naruto, oblivious from knowing that my last shred of sanity was going away. “What did he look like?”
Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi gulped.
“You guys… hahaha…” I said, rolling up my sleeves.
“Remember that you're human,” warned Kakashi. “Akemi-chan…”
I stomped toward them.
“Easy…” said Sasuke.
“Are you sure she's not the insane killer?” whispered Naruto.
“I don't think so.” said Sakura. “Is she…?”
Kakashi and Sasuke shrugged.
“RAWRRRRR!” I screamed, chasing them with my fists.
“Wah!” they cried, running away.
To be continued…
How was that… a cheery mood to end this story… it's supposed to be kind of sad… but if you didn't think it was sad… then… okay… anyways… I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Please review!
