Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Hidden Tactics ❯ Training ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Hinata woke up. She had had the most wonderful dream. Naruto-kun was talking to her and taking interest in her. She could not believe that it had been three years since she last saw him. She was embarrassed that she fainted when he talked to her too. Her face went red thinking about it. Oh well, some things one could not change. She sighed, and got dressed.
He wasn’t the first one there. He watched as the girl with the long black hair spun and attacked multiple weapons flying at her. They all fell to the ground and he barely saw the attack.
“That was good Hinata!” Kiba called. Naruto turned and watched the boy and his dog run up. “Oh, hey Naruto.”
Hinata turned. “Hi, Naruto-kun.” She murmured.
Naruto smiled “Hey Hinata, you think I could train with you today? What you did was awesome!”
She smiled and nodded slightly.
“Great!” Naruto turned from Hinata focused on the trees. “How long have you been training for?”
“We’ve been here for a while. Hinata likes to train early.” Kiba shrugged and Hinata blushed.
“So, why don’t you throw stuff at me like you did to Hinata?” Naruto stated.
About five minutes, only a few of the projectiles were lying on the ground. “Hey Hinata! How do you destroy all the weapons?” Naruto asked in his loud mouth fashion while Hinata patched up the worst of the wounds
“Why don’t you watch Naruto?” Kiba suggested.
“Hai and I’ll help attack too.” He stated.
“Naruto-kun...” Hinata murmured. Kiba put his arm around her shoulders in a brotherly fashion.
“It’s ok Hinata, you are really good. You need to have faith in yourself. Naruto was really impressed.” Kiba whispered in her ear. Hinata blushed a brighter red. “If it makes it any easier just think of it as Shino and me attacking you. Now don’t worry. If he gets too rough, Akamaru won’t let him harm you.” Kiba winked and took off with Naruto.
Hinata focused all her chakra in her palms. She concentrated and tried to do what Kiba told her. She made the sign and called out “Byakugan!” She looked around. There is Kiba and Akamaru… But where was Naruto-kun?
They attacked all at once; Hinata barely had time to prepare. She was able to deflect all but one projectile. The falling Naruto, who was above Hinata and lost his balance, landed right on top of her.
“Sorry Hinata, are you ok?” He said and flashed a smile. “I didn’t hurt you did I?”
“Hey Naruto! I think Hinata would be fine if you got off of her.” Kiba said. He started laughing as Naruto became embarrassed and Hinata, whose face was already flushed, passed out.
“Do you think I hurt her Kiba?” Naruto asked as he grabbed her around the waist to carry her.
“Nah, she’s just been training really hard and your attack surprised her. She didn’t want to hurt you.”
“Truthfully, I was hoping she wouldn’t. I saw what she did to those.” Naruto pointed to the weapons on the ground, some of which were shattered while others were bent. Only a few were deflected intact.
“Heh. Why do you think Akamaru and I don’t get any closer? If she can do that to metal, I don’t even want to think about what she can do to a person.” He shrugged and patted Akamaru on the head.
“You mean she hasn’t used this technique on anyone yet?” Naruto asked.
“Well, we did have missions, but this technique; let’s just say it’s our last resort. Hinata is too frightened of hurting us in a real mission,” He shrugged again. He thought to himself that if Hinata ever became like the other Kunoichi then he would never want to get on her bad side.
“Hey Kiba, do you think Hinata will be able to defeat me if I actually fought her? I don’t think I ever want to make her angry enough to attack me. Sakura-chan is scary enough, but with Hinata’s moves, fights could be deadly.” Naruto stated.
Kiba laughed in spite of himself. “I’ve never seen Hinata angry enough to be as scary as Sakura, but you are right. A real fight with Hinata could be the end of a man.” Naruto smiled. “Hey Naruto, do you want Akamaru to carry her? It wouldn’t cause him any trouble.”
“No, I’m the one who knocked Hinata unconscious. I’ll carry her home. Besides she doesn’t weigh much.”
“Uh… Hinata’s dad is not a person who would like that his daughter passed out, why don’t you bring her to my place?”
“Well, then she can stay at mine. I told you, this is my fault. I don’t want to make her mad at me.”
Kiba chuckled. “Well, if you feel that strongly about it, why don’t you take her to Tsunade?”
“What and ask her for help? Nope, I can take care of Hinata on my own.”
“Well, at least ask Sakura.” Kiba was hoping one of them would point out to Naruto that Hinata fainted. He didn’t want to be the one to explain it to the loud mouth.
“Hmm, I’ll get Sakura-chan.”
“Why don’t I get her, you take Hinata to your house so she is not being moved everywhere.” Kiba really wanted to get away from Naruto and if he let Naruto look for Sakura… Kiba didn’t even want to think what might happen.
“Well, Naruto, I don’t know what you did to her. I think she might be ok. She probably needs someone to take care of her for a few days.”
“What? Stay here? With her? What about my training?” Naruto started hollering immediately.
“Someone has to. I have work to do. Oh, and Naruto… I wouldn’t move her too much. I think she’ll be ok, but she needs to rest.” Sakura was very calm and tried not to chuckle on her way out.
Naruto glanced at the girl lying peacefully on her side. He assumed he ought to put her in pajamas… He didn’t move any closer though. Suddenly he ran out of the room. He caught up to Sakura in a heartbeat.
“Sakura-chan… could you help me move Hinata and well… put her in something more comfortable.” His look was pure and worrying, almost a brotherly one. Sakura sighed.
“Sure Naruto.” She walked back into the room and Naruto lifted the sleeping girl. He placed her on his bed and walked out. Sakura laughed to herself. Sakura put Hinata in the cutest pajamas that she could find. She then covered the girl and walked out. “Ok, when she wakes up, don’t scare her. Bye Naruto.”
Naruto poked his head into the other room and then set himself to making some ramen.
Naruto turned around as Hinata approached. He gave her a glance then stared. Hinata… in… his… pajamas… “Hinata…” he said quietly. Then he was able to snap himself out of his daydream. “Are you ok? Did I hurt you? I’m sorry Hinata that I knocked you unconscious.”
Hinata didn’t understand why Naruto was acting strange. It seemed he looked at everything but her. What was going on? “I’m ok. Why am I here?”
“Ah, well, you see, I knocked into you and you passed out. Kiba went to get Sakura-chan and Sakura-chan said that you would need to be looked after. ThenSakura-chanputyouinmypajamasandIwassupposedtotakecareofyou.” He took a deep breath “Would you like some ramen?”
Hinata blinked as she took in what he said. She glanced at herself and the amount of leg showing. Then she ran into the other room to find her clothes. Her face was brighter than ever. She changed as fast as she could and when she was finished, she heard Naruto knock at the door.
“Uh... Hinata, I made you some ramen.” He said rather unsure.
She opened the door and walked out. “Thank you Naruto-kun.” She kept her eyes averted to the floor and didn’t notice Naruto gawking at her.
How could someone with those legs hide them? He thought. He grabbed Hinata’s arm so that he wouldn’t stare any longer and led her into the kitchen. “Here you are Hinata. You must be starving!” Man, three years with that pervert was not a good idea for me.
She smiled and thanked him before she ate a little. For some reason Naruto couldn’t keep his eyes off her. It got to the point where he made himself another bowl of ramen just to keep himself busy. “Hey Hinata,” he waited until she looked up at him. “This is nice isn’t it? We should hang out more.” That was stupid. Hinata wouldn’t want to be with you. One side of his mind said.
“You mean it?” She asked quietly. Now she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
“Why wouldn’t I want to? You’ve gotten strong. Training with you would make me have to improve!” Dangit! It’s just like me to bring up training now! He sighed inwardly.
“Oh. Yes, we should train together.” She said. Of course, Naruto’s only interest was training but at least she’d be closer to him.
“And we should do other things too. I mean... I don’t really know you and in order to train with you I need to know when to hold back or not at all.”
“Yes. That would be a good idea.” She looked back at her bowl. “I should head home.”
“But… Sakura-chan said I was to take care of you for three days.” He protested. He didn’t mind the girl and it would be fun taking her clothes and making her wear his.
“I’m fine, really I am. I think I should head home.” She got up and started to move towards the door. “Uh… Naruto-kun. It’s nice that your back.” She then took off down the hall and out the door.
Naruto shook his head. He would never understand that girl. He then noticed her healing salve sitting on the table. He ran out after her. “Hinata!”
She turned around slowly. Why was he chasing her? She stood still and waited to see what jest he would make about the pajamas in which she had woken up.
“Here, you left this. Are you training tomorrow? You really should rest, but if you are, I’d like to work with you a bit.” He said mildly.
Hinata nodded. “Naruto-kun, I need to train tomorrow. I will wait for you after Shino and I finish up.” She then turned again and walked away.
She shook her head. “I passed out again yesterday.” She stated unimportantly.
“Kiba told me. Naruto fell on you?” Shino couldn’t keep the amusement out of his voice. “I also heard you went back to his house. Are you ok Hinata-chan?”
“SHINO-KUN!” her face went beat red.
“Well, its good to see that you haven’t changed.” He poked gently at Hinata. He didn’t tease her much but she always reacted the same. “You know Hinata-chan, that boy is denser than a pile of rocks. You should tell him and shock him.”
Hinata blushed slightly. “I know I should, but how do you tell someone when they like someone else? It’s easier to wait and see what happens.” Ducking her head she continued, “I don’t see you out there either. Let’s train and drop this subject shall we?”
Naruto, with his impeccable timing, showed up at that moment. “HEY! Hinata! Why are you training today? Sakura-chan said to take it easy for a few days!” He waved and ran up to Shino and Hinata just the same.
“Hi Naruto, today’s my day to train with her. Kiba will be with his sister today if you want to ask him to train.” Shino stood protectively in front of Hinata.
“Shino-kun… I am also training with Naruto-kun today.” She blushed, “Naruto-kun, aren’t you the one who asked to train with me?” She stated meekly.
“Yes, but still, Hinata you should take it easy. Let me train with Shino for a while.” He said quickly.
“This from the boy who didn’t even recognize me at first. Do you even remember what my attacks are? Hinata-chan, take a break. I want to see if he remembers anything about me.” Shino told the girl without even glancing at her.
Hinata touched his arm slightly. “Don’t hurt him too badly Shino,” She whispered. Shino winked at her. Then the match began.
Shino looked above his glasses. He threw everything he had at the boy and the person was still standing. Hinata and Kiba were the only ones who could stand up to his attack but by the time he stopped attacking, they were both tired. Shino could barely stand. He looked at Naruto one last time shook his head and walked off.
“What was that about?” Naruto asked himself.
Hinata sighed. “Naruto-kun? No one in all our missions has defeated Shino yet. In fact, Kiba and I can barely defeat him when he takes it easy on us.” She looked at the ground. Naruto not expecting a response looked around. How could he forget about the girl whom he promised to train?
“Hinata? Do you feel up to training? I don’t think I can give you my best effort since fighting Shino took a lot of energy, and I think it would be better if you took it easy at first.” He looked at her for a moment.
Hinata blushed. “I’m a little tired. I still have to see Tsunade-sama today.”
“Tsunade-sama? Why do you have to see her?” Naruto stared blankly at the girl.
“I’m being assigned a mission on my own today. According to Sakura-chan, there is no fighting in this mission.” Hinata shrugged slightly.
“On your own? No way! That’s so cool!” Naruto stated.
“I’m not entirely sure.” She shifted her weight from one foot to the other under his gaze.
“Well, I’ll walk with you to the Hokage’s office.” His eyes traveled to her legs for a moment then he caught himself and looked forward. He couldn’t let himself slip like that. Especially if he planned on training with this girl everyday.
“Naruto-kun… do you think I will be able to complete this mission?” Hinata asked quietly. Her body shook with anticipation and fear. She was never allowed out on a mission on her own. Never did she expect that she would be called upon for a mission. That was Shino’s role. He was the leader in their team and they were happy to leave it that way. She sighed.
“Hinata, I bet you will defeat all your enemies before they even know what’s going on. You’ll do great Hinata!” He gave her a huge smile that she couldn’t help but smile back. He always gave her courage.
“Thank you Naruto-kun,” she murmured and they walked the rest of the way in silence.

Naruto, back after three years training, ate his usual breakfast, ramen. He smiled slightly and stretched out. It felt good to be home. Even after three years, he still needed to train. He wasn’t strong enough to bring back Sasuke yet. As soon as he finished he went to the normal training grounds. He wasn’t the first one there. He watched as the girl with the long black hair spun and attacked multiple weapons flying at her. They all fell to the ground and he barely saw the attack.

Sakura looked at her fellow Kunoichi and sighed. The girl was fine, just fainted again. When would Naruto open his eyes? Sakura had an idea how to make him see and then maybe he’d get off her back.“Well, Naruto, I don’t know what you did to her. I think she might be ok. Hinata woke up slowly from another amazing dream. She cuddled her head closer to the pillow and took a deep breath. Was it just her or did the pillow even smell like Naruto now? She bolted upright as she remembered him falling onto her. Where was she? She glanced around the room and took in her surroundings. She got up slowly and walked out of the room as if she was waiting for attack. Naruto was finishing his third bowl of ramen when Hinata saw him. “Naruto-kun?”Naruto turned around as Hinata approached. He gave her a glance then stared. Shino could tell his teammate was distracted. “What’s wrong Hinata-chan?”She shook her head. “I passed out again yesterday.” She stated unimportantly.
