Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Konoha Sengoku High ❯ Chapter 2 ( Chapter 2 )

I do not own Naruto

The blonde boy erased Kakashi’s name from the board, and replaced it with his own. He wrote in absolutely huge letters, leaving not a shred of space left on the board. Walking around the teacher’s desk, he stood facing the center of the class, arms crossed and feet spread.
“My name is Uzumaki Naruto! I like ramen, and hate people who pick a fight for no reason, as well as people who don’t stand up for themselves. I’m looking forward to our next two years together!”
The class had a wide range of reactions, but most wore annoyed looks that said ‘who does this guy think he is?’. Lee was impressed by the strong first impression Naruto made and was on the verge of another passionate outburst on the flames of youth, but was stopped by a glare from Kakashi-sensei.
“Thank you Naruto-san, quite the introduction you’ve made. There is an open seat next to Sakura Haruno, you can have that one. If you would raise your hand, Sakura-san?”
After Naruto was settled in, Kakashi began the roll call. “Ok class, we don’t have much time left, so I’m just going to call roll and that’s it for today. We’ll start with Shino Aburame. Shino-san?”
The student who raised his hand wore the basic boys uniform, but he added a black snow-cap and dark sunglasses making him seem very dark. It was also almost impossible to read his expression.
“Shino-san is here, very good. Next is Chouji Akimichi. Chouji-san where are you?”
A obviously well fed student raised his hand. He possessed a very bulky build, and was always munching on something. He almost always had a happy and inviting smile on his face, so no one really made fun of him for it. It was well known that Chouji would help anyone who asked nicely to the best of his ability.
“Next is Inuzuka Kiba. Kiba-san?”
Almost before Kakashi-sensei finished speaking, a hand shot up in the air. Kiba’s head of brown hair was always messy and wind-swept, as if he just finished running for all he was worth, which he probably did. Kiba has the most energy of anyone in the class, and ran whenever he could get away with it. He had two red tattoos that resembled fangs, one under each eye.
“Right here sensei!” Kiba said this very loudly, and the students in the immediate vicinity flinched away from his voice.
“Yes Kiba-san, I see you. Enthusiasm is good, but try and keep the volume down next time, hmm? Your fellow students would no doubt prefer to enjoy the full use of their ears for the foreseeable future.”
Kiba scratched the back of his head, slightly embarrassed. “Sorry sensei.”
“It’s ok Kiba-san. Right, let’s move on. Sakura-san I already know is here, so next is Hinata Hyuuga. Hinata-san raise your hand please.”
A rather shy girl started to raise her hand, but only just barely over people’s heads. She wore her skirt longer than most of the girls there, almost all the way down to her knees. Her hair was very long, reaching all the way down to her waist, and her eyes had an unusual milky white color to them. She also tended to stutter when talking to anyone of the opposite gender.
“R-Right h-here Sen--Sensei.”
“No need to be nervous Hinata-san, I won’t bite you. Next is Neji…Hyuuga? Are you related to Hinata here?”
“Yes sensei, we are cousins.”
Neji had the same eyes as his cousin Hinata, and wore his hair the same length and style, except his was brown. Although his hair could be considered rather girly, no one dared say it within earshot of him, because he was the captain of the martial arts club in the school. This naturally meant he was almost impossible to beat in a one-on-one fight.
Neji is one of the few students given the option not to wear the uniform. Konoha Sengoku allows the captain or president of each individual club to wear something relating to their club instead of the school uniform. Neji wore a simple gi. It was a very light purple in color with no decorations of any sort, the only accessory being a simple black belt at his waist.
“Ah, is that so? Very good then. Lee-san, I know you’re here…next is Shikamaru Nara. Shikamaru-san, raise your hand please.”
No one raised their hands. Most heads turned towards Shikamaru, who was resting his head on his arms, which were crossed over the desk. He was obviously fast asleep. A collective sigh was heard across the room.
“Shikamaru-san? Last call before I mark you absent!”
Sakura called out at this point. As annoyed as she was with Shikamaru right now, she didn’t want him marked absent when he was here. It was her opinion that if a student received a bad mark, it should be for the actual crime, not something else entirely.
“Shikamaru-kun is here sensei! He’s sleeping on the desk next to Kiba-san!”
“I see. Thank you Sakura-san. So Shikamaru-san is here, but gets a mark against him for inattentiveness. Well I‘ll deal with him later. Next is Sasuke Uchiha. Where are you Sasuke-san?”
At the sound of his name, just about every girl in the class visibly swooned. Sasuke was the school heartthrob. He’s athletic, attractive, and smart. It was a rare girl in the school who didn’t have a crush on Sasuke.
Sasuke was in a position every guy would give their left arm to be in. And of course, he hated it. Mindless fan girls who wanted him even if they only barely knew more then his name did not interest him at all. He simply rose his hand without saying a word.
“I think we all know Naruto is here….and the other blonde in the back there must be Ino Yamanaka, am I right?”
“Yes sensei, I’m Ino.’
Ino was the not-so-secret crush of all the guys in school. She had bright blonde hair that was just as long as Hinata’s. Unlike Hinata though, who wore her hair straight down, Ino tied hers back into a high ponytail. She had a super-model figure with a near-perfect bust and waist by any standard. Unlike Sasuke, she loved every bit of her popularity and did her best to maintain it.
“Alright, that’s my list of the class. You all have 10 minutes before we start class, so feel free to talk among yourselves till then.”
At this announcement, Naruto turned to Sakura. “Sakura-chan, what clubs does this school have?”
“Well what are you interested in? We have a club for just about everything here, from sewing to science to martial arts.”
“Definitely not sewing!! I’ll leave that one to the girls. Tell me about the more physical clubs, like that martial arts club you mentioned.”
“Well, you should talk to Neji-san in our class if you want to know more about that. He’s the captain of the team. I hear they’ve won a few championships, so they must be pretty strong. Aside from that there’s only kendo and sports like soccer and basketball. Lee-san is the captain of the soccer team.”
“Thanks Sakura-chan! I’ll definitely talk to those two. What club are you in, by the way?”
“Me? I’m a member of the health & fitness club. Most of us are aspiring nurses and doctors interested in how to heal the human body. I‘m proficient with basic first aid but not much beyond that.”
“Wow that’s pretty cool! I bet you’re really handy to have around if things get rough!”
“Rough? And why would things get rough Naruto-san?”
Sasuke chose that moment to walk up, leaning on Naruto‘s desk so he faced Sakura. “I should think it obvious Sakura-san. With the amount of martial arts and sports clubs here injuries are bound to happen, I‘m honestly surprised they‘re as few as they are. Even so, I see bandages in this school every time people are in the hall.”
Turning towards Naruto, He leaned in so as not to be overheard by Sakura. “You made a pretty brash entrance there Naruto-san. You’re lucky it was this class. Any other and you would have pissed off some pretty rough customers. I suggest you keep your head a little lower while you’re here.”
Following Sasuke’s lead, Naruto spoke softly as well. “Thanks for the warning, but I can handle myself. A bunch of local bullies don’t scare me at all.”
“Heh, it’s a bit more serious than that. Last warning, Don’t go sticking your head higher than it belongs. It’s trouble.” Straightening up, Sasuke apologized for interrupting and walked back towards his seat. Sakura was sitting there amazed that Sasuke talked to someone on his own. And it was the new kid no less!
“What was that about Naruto-san? Sasuke-kun never talks to anyone on his own. Do you know him somehow?”
“Nope that was my first time talking to him. And he didn’t want much really, just saying hi.”
“Just saying hi?! You don’t need to whisper if you’re only saying hi! And besides, Sasuke-kun wouldn’t get up just for that!”
“Ok class time’s up! Please postpone your conversations and return to your seats! Class time is starting!” Unfortunately for Sakura, she would have to wait to get her answers. If she can’t get them out of Naruto, she would just have to ask Sasuke himself. Or maybe she just skip right to Sasuke. Any chance to talk to him was always good. But for now, she should pay attention to Kakashi-sensei’s lecture.

A/N: woo-hoo chapter 2 is here! I can finally start developing the plot a bit!! Speaking of plot, apparently a bit of trouble in Konoha Sengoku! Let’s hope it doesn’t get too hairy on Naruto’s very first day…….

I used some new suffixes in this chapter, so I’ll explain them.

-chan is a term of endearment usually used towards girls/women or children. Less formal than -san, it denotes friendship(or perhaps a bit more)

-kun is the same as -chan, only it’s used towards boys/men.
