She sat down on her couch and waited for Naruto to sit down beside her. Once he did, he saw all the money scattered out over her coffee table.

 

-“What's with all the money?” he asked and regretted it instantly because Sakura sobbed and looked really sad once it exited his mouth.

 

-“That's just it.” she sobbed miserably. “I need 6,000$ for my mom's surgery.”

 

-“But there's only 5 or 6 hundred here.” Naruto said blankly.

 

-“Yeah, I know.” Sakura whispered and put her face in her hands.

 

*That's why she's so upset?! She doesn't have enough money to pay for the surgery?* Naruto put his arm around her shoulders and gave them a little squeeze.

 

-“Don't worry Sakura.” he said softly “I think I can help you and your mom.” Sakura looked at him.

 

-“How?” she managed to whisper.

 

*She looks so sad...... I hate seeing her like this.* “ Well, I just got a job at a big office down the street and I figure that I can live off of half the money they give me so you can have the other half for your mom's surgery.” he said with a smile.

 

-“Oh, I couldn't take your money Naruto! I don't want to put my problems on your shoulders!” she protested. Naruto sighed and took his arm back.

 

-“Look Sakura. You're not taking my money! I'm giving it to you!” he countered.

 

-“Why do you want to help me so bad that you're willing to give half your pay?!”

 

-“Because....”

 

-“Because why?!” she cried with tears in her eyes. First her mom gets a brain tumor and now her friend is willing to put himself in jeopardy to help her. This was way to much for her to take.

 

-“Because I care about you!” Naruto said loud enough so she would hear him.

 

-“What?” she asked softly, turning towards him.

 

-“I care about you too much to just sit back and watch while you go through a living hell!” he exclaimed and took hold of one of her hands. “Please, let me help you through this.” he said a little slower. Sakura looked into his pleading eyes.

 

*Does he really care about me that much?* “ Okay, I'll take the money. But you have to promise me that you'll keep enough money for yourself.” she said

 

-“Of coarse! It's all taken care of.” he said, smiling. Sakura smiled for the first time since the phone call about her mom. *This might actually work!* she said over and over in her head. “Sakura, I gotta go. It's getting late.”

 

-“Oh, okay.” she said. They walked to her front door. “Naruto?”

 

-“Yeah?”

 

-“Thanks a bunch. You're the best friend a girl could ever ask for.” she said shyly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Naruto blushed.

 

-“So, I'll see ya later Sakura. Goodnight!”

 

-“Goodnight!” she said and closed the door after he had walked away. *Why did I kiss him? Sure it was only on the cheek, but still, ........I kissed a guy! No, I kissed Naruto! Does this mean I like him?* she wondered as she got into her bed. She thought about it for a few more minutes before she closed her eyes and let sleep take her.
