“This really was too easy.” The white dreadlocks guy chuckled. He glanced at the nins on the gate and two of them jumped down. Kaeda threw her ninja stars at one of them while avoiding the other's kick and pushing me out of the attacker's way.
The nin turned back around to try his attack again at the same time; that the other had freed himself from the stars. He also aimed his hatred to my friend and threw the stars back. I stopped them with my kunai while Kaeda had kicked her other attacker in the guts and was now making hand signs.
“Shizuka duck!” She yelled making the last sign. Confused I glanced at her over my shoulder and noticed a light surrounding her, forming a pentagon. When the angles started to glow I let myself fall down on the ground and watched how a light beam struck the nin in front of me. Quickly checking for other enemies I found none and turned around to see Aya point her knife at her captor's leg.
Glancing upwards she checked if the big guy noticed what she was doing, then she pushed the button and the thin sword shot through his leg. Shocked and in pain the big guy let go of his prisoner, who didn't wait to run away. A loud curse was heard and the dreadlocks guy glared angry at his companion, who released some more curses.
The eyes of the whitehead slid to Aya while he grabbed something out of his pocket. I glanced at Kaeda and saw that she had her hands full with a third nin while her previous one was laying unconscious against a wall. I looked back at the white haired guy and saw him throw something in the air.
Narrowing my eyes I recognized small, circular objects. The guy smirked and started to make hand signals while keeping his eye on Aya, who had searched for cover underneath a housefront. A hand clap got my attention back to her attacker and like in slow motion the little balls started to move quicker and quicker towards the girl.
“Aya! Get away from there!” I screamed running towards her, but the first ball had already reached its goal and penetrated the girl's leg, preventing her escape. Scared the girl pressed her arms against her head and to my horror blood was already streaming down from them. I tried to block some of the balls with my kunai, but they were with too many that in the end; I threw myself before Aya. Pain took over my body, but the girl's cries made me unable to move out of the fire line.
`Gaara!' I screamed in my head when my shoulder-blade got pierced. The kunai I had been holding the whole time slipped out of my hand and for the first time I noticed that my arm was covered with blood. I could feel myself getting lightheaded and noticed it had gotten darker before something stopped my fall.
-
“… down. She's going to wake up.” I heard Kankuro's voice soothed someone.
“I should have intervened sooner.” His brother mumbled a little depressed.
“You gave her the chance to prove herself.” The puppet master continued his pep talk.
“Gaara?” I asked before opening my eyes. My whole body felt numb, I could only guess that they drugged me well enough not to feel the pain since I was completely packed in bandages.
“Shizuka!” He sighed relieved, meeting my eyes.
“See I told you she would be alright. She's a tough one.” Kankuro continued his soothing. “But I'll leave you two alone for a bit. I'll go tell the others that you've woken up.” He gave me a sweet smile which also reflected his own relief. Once we were alone Gaara bowed down and kissed me gently.
“How's Aya?” I asked.
“She's fine, thanks to you. You saved her life. Without you she would probably have turned out handicapped.” My eyes widened. Did I really do that? “If her bones were severely injured, she would have gotten a growing disorder.” My eyes widened even more.
“And I'm alright, right?” I did accept all of the balls for the girl.
“You're not growing anymore so you'll be fine.” He soothed me and I released a sigh.
“And how long do I need to stay here.” I said glancing at the wall next to me.
“The wounds weren't too deep so they said tomorrow as long as you rest enough, especially your shoulder.” He summed.
“But then I'm not going to have enough time to learn the transform technique.” Hopelessly I looked at him.
“I'll let Kou-sensei set up some easy chakra control exercises.” The redhead compromised. He also knew that the two weeks were already cramped without my injury.
“That may be the best.” I considered and let out a sigh. “Kaeda is also fine, isn't she?” I asked remembering my forgotten friend, but I knew she was a good enough nin to protect herself.
“Yes, Kankuro is probably with her at the moment.”
“Great, then everyone is alright.” I sighed happily feeling tired all of a sudden.
“Go back to sleep.” Gaara whispered bowing over once again to give me another kiss while picking up my hand. I fell asleep with the save feeling of him reloading his chakra inside me.
-
“I'm not improving one bit!” I whined. It had been one day since I was released from the hospital and Kou-sensei had giving me the chakra control exercises which I was failing miserably.
“Don't force yourself.” Gaara said consulting while he sat himself down on his knees in front of the bed I was sitting on. “Concentrate all your chakra at the centre of your hand and push the feather upwards.” He instructed. He had been trying to teach me whenever possible. I suspected that once again a clone had settled himself in the Kazekage's office.
Breathing a couple of times in and out I relaxed a little and started from the beginning. Even if I was burning a hole in the feather with my eyes it didn't move one inch upwards.
“Close your eyes.” Gaara continued his teachings. In the darkness I felt his hands on mine. “Concentrate on the point where I'm touching you.” He mumbled caressing my skin lightly.
“This is easier.” I decided after a while.
“Keep it there.” I nodded and his hand disappeared to be replaced by the feather. “Now imagine you're pushing air upwards from that spot.” Once more I breathed in and out before doing as he told me. “Now open your eyes.” I looked at my hand and to my surprise the feather was flying almost one centimeter above it.
“I did it!” I said stunned while the feather fell back down.
“I knew you could do it.” Gaara smiled and rewarded me with a kiss.
“One more.” I mumbled when our lips separated again. A smirk colored his face before we made contact again. I let him push me down on me back while he crawled on me. My hands slid in his hair and forced him to deepen the kiss.
The Kazekage's left arm was resting next to my head as support while the right one had slipped down and was letting his fingers tease the skin near my waist.
“Shizu… What the hell!” Temari yelled walking in after a quick knock. “Gaara get off her! She should be practicing!” The glare her brother sent her told her different.
“This is my reward.” I pouted cutely, making the blonde roll her eyes.
“What are you doing here?” The Kazekage asked in an unfriendly tone.
“I got a letter from Shikamaru…”
“You interrupted us because your boyfriend wrote you a letter?” The redhead kept glaring at her.
“No… Yes, he informed me that the Hokage is okay with the plan and to be completely safe she wants Shizuka to also have my appearance when you'll arrive.” She said giving an angry glare at her brother, who didn't seemed faced at all.
“I really need to learn how to transform, don't I?” I answered with a forced smile.
“Don't worry, you can do it. You could hold yourself against a couple of jounins and an S-class nin.” Temari comforted me with a wave of her hand.
“S-class? That guy with the dreadlocks?” I asked turning my head back to Gaara, who was still laying on me. He nodded.
“Too bad he ran away the moment Gaara showed his face.” The blonde continued.
“He escaped?” I asked shocked. `That guy is still out there?'
“He isn't getting another chance.” Gaara said seriously and the look in his eyes comforted me more than anything else. I smiled a little and watched expectedly how the redhead's face came closer.
“Oh yeah, Daisetsu's wife is here.” Temari interrupted again. The Kazekage stiffened and turned his head towards his sister glaring her dead.
“Don't be angry at me! If she hadn't showed up I wouldn't have set one foot in this room.” She made her defense and left the room saying she would send Keiko to Gaara's office.
“You better get off.” I said with a `sorry' look. Disappointed Gaara listened and crawled back on his feet where he plastered a childish look on his face.
“Oh my baby, I promise that we'll continue tonight.” I said when I stood before him, wrapping my arms around him and closing the gab between our lips once more.
-
“Shizuka-chan, I'm so glad you're alright!” was the first thing Keiko said when we walked in. Only after she hugged me she greeted the Kazekage and turning back to me. “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving Aya. I wouldn't know what to do if anything bad would happen to her.” I almost expected her to hug me again, but she seemed to stop herself on time and aimed her attention back at Gaara.
“You should train her Kazekage-sama, she would be a great bodyguard.” She smiled innocently. “And since she is your concubine nobody would find it weird that she's always around you. Isn't it the perfect cover?” She continued and I got the impression she wanted to give a possible future after she got Gaara to dump me. I couldn't help but picture me standing before a door while Gaara was doing some whore. A shudder ran up my spine.
“I'll think about it.” The Kazekage answered while glancing at me. He clearly noticed my discomfort and started to shoo Keiko out of his office. I got another hug and the woman left.
“She does have a point.” Gaara said after closing the door, making me look shocked at him. “But only I wouldn't keep it a secret, but use it to keep you more by my side.” He drove away my shock with a small, honest smile.
“That would be the only reason for me to take the job.” I smiled back while he wrapped his arms around me. He kissed me passionately, but the moment he wanted to deepen it I stopped him.
“I told you we'll continue this tonight, but now I have to resume my practice.” I said while releasing myself out of his grip. The redhead looked full of disbelief. “If I'm going to be your bodyguard I have to study hard.” I chuckled and turned around to the door. `He's so fun to tease!' Just like I expected his hand moved very fast to stop me and turning me back towards him.
“If you're going to be my bodyguard then it's important we have a good relationship, so I'll have to reward all of your successes and I believe I was in the middle of doing so.” I couldn't help but laugh a little while he pulled me back against him, before claiming my lips once again.
-
“You sure you should be doing this?” Kaeda asked watching my feet in the water bowl I had Matsuri bring me.
“Yeah, if I can stand on water I'm able to control my chakra.” I explained looking at my own drenched toes.
“Just don't fall and spill the water on your bandages.” Matsuri ordered from my bed.
“Don't worry, I'm not that clumsy.” I laughed looking up, making me lose control over my left foot. I would have fallen if Kaeda hadn't caught me.
“You were saying.” Kanky's girl said sarcastically. I sent her a playful glare and regained my balance again.
“Now you just have to get up the water surface and not under it.” My other friend added.
“I know!” I yelled frustrated and in a split second I was laying on my butt with my legs completely drenched.
“Don't…” I looked from Kaeda to Matsuri. “…say a word.” Too bad my threat had the opposed effect, making the two laugh their eyes out.
