The moment we set foot in Suna, I felt my heart race. “He's going to be mad, isn't he?” I asked to no one in particular when we came to a halt.
“Honestly, I think he'll be glad to have you back; and don't forget, we have the brooch,” Sakura tried to soothe me over and I nodded with a sigh.
“Shizuka-sama!” An ANBU suddenly appeared before Sasuke, who had been leading our group.
“Hi…please don't tell Gaara I'm back! I'll go see him myself right away.” The man nodded understandingly.
“I'll accompany you,” he suggested and I smiled thankfully.
“Are you guys coming?” I asked the three around me.
“Maybe it would be better if you two met alone first,” Sakura suggested, and I retorted with a:
“What?”
“It would be better if you two made up before we debrief. I know the Kazekage is fair, but the conversation would be lighter if that wasn't hanging over our heads,” she continued.
“That?” I tried.
“The incident when we went against his orders to accompany you on your search.”
“I guess you're right,” I sighed my defeat and started walking towards the Tower with the others following me. The moment I entered, Kankuro stopped mid-step before me. “I'm home!” I called and would have found his widened eyes comical if I wasn't that nervous for what was to come.
“Shizuka!” he snapped. “Where the hell have you been?!”
“Why don't we explain that while Shizuka faces the Kazekage?” Sasuke intervened and I offered him a small smile. Kankuro quickly agreed and I watched them enter one of the waiting rooms before continuing to follow the ANBU. The dreaded door came into view and I unconsciously slowed down. If the nin before me noticed, he ignored it and immediately knocked when he stood before the entrance; only then did he step sideways to look at me. Taking a deep breath I watched Washi open the door. Just like Kankuro, his eyes widened before he quickly opened the door all the way. The odd behaviour made Gaara look up and I stared straight into his sea-green eyes.
“I'm home!” I repeated but a lot less confidently than before. The muscles in the redhead's face tightened and I knew he was angry with me. He glanced at Washi and the man quickly stepped outside, holding open the door for me to enter the office before closing it. I listened and felt my heart jump when the door closed behind me with a loud bang. I stood there for what seemed like an eternity as we stared at each other. “I'm sorry,” I said in the end while stepping forward. “I know you're angry, but we found it!” I tried to appease him while raising the brooch for him to see. Gaara stared at me until he suddenly shook his head and pushed his chair backwards. He stood up and walked around his desk, towards me. Once in reach, he pulled me against his chest and squeezed me as close as he could. My arms disappeared around his waist and I sighed in relief.
“I guess we're even now,” Gaara finally spoke to me and I looked up.
“Yeah.” His face descended and I adored the way his lips gently pressed against mine. Feeling my need increase, I added pressure and licked his lips. As a response, his mouth opened and his tongue penetrated mine. I sighed in bliss as we broke for air and stared at his face, taking in every detail. “I've missed you,” I breathed and he smiled.
“I've missed you too,” he answered before kissing me again. “Now tell me about that…brooch?” he asked, eyeing it as I handed it to him.
“Maybe we should get the others first.” The Kazekage nodded his agreement and turned me halfway to the door. The ANBU that had brought me was still waiting on the other side of the door.
“Could you get the Konoha nins, Kurata.” The man gave one nod before turning around. Gaara released me and sat down behind his desk again, leaving the door open. The others quickly joined us and we started recounting our story as detailed as we could possibly share. Afterward, the Kazekage rested his chin on his folded hands; he kind of reminded me of Sasuke. “The Seer and I calculated that we still have about two weeks,” he informed us.
“That isn't a lot of time to prepare for a war.” Sai calculated.
“But Shizi is capable to convince her father, especially after she informs him of who we were,” I put out, feeling a little helpless—this wasn't looking good. I could see Gaara processing all of this information before he opened his lips again.
“The first thing that needs to happen is to evacuate the villagers. I would like you three to return to Konoha with a request for help.” His eyes slid over the Konoha nins and Sasuke nodded in understanding. “I'll have a prepared letter by tomorrow morning. Please rest for the rest of the day,” he ended the conversation and the others nodded before retreating.
-
“How have you been?” I asked when we were alone again. It hadn't gone unnoticed that the red-haired man sitting before me looked a couple years older.
“I'm tired,” he sighed while leaning backwards as I walked around the desk towards him. Gaara moved his chair back and wrapped his arms around my waist before laying his head against my chest. “I'm glad you're alright,” he confessed and I kissed the top of his head.
“I'm glad I found what I was looking for in time.” He raised his head and I pressed a second kiss against his lips.
“I guess you won't listen to me if I tell you to evacuate with the villagers to Konoha,” he said with a little bit of hope in his eyes.
“Of course not; I'm a ninja: my place is here, beside you,” I answered truthfully and he nodded, losing the sparkle of hope. “I'm sorry,” I whispered. He was making me feel guilty and I kissed him again.
“I knew you were going to answer that,” he smiled a small smile and stood up. He turned us around and raised me onto his desk. He showered my face in kisses, which quickly turned passionate; I could already guess where this was leading to.
“Gaara, I smell,” I told him between kisses and he shrugged, not caring. “Let me shower first, please.” My plea at the end made him halt his advances. He stared at me like he was contemplating before the gourd in the corner started to make a rustling sound. “Gaara-?” I asked surprised as I turned to the sound. I watched sand roll over the ground and surround us. The corner of my mouth sneaked upwards as I understood—he was going to teleport us.
-
When we arrived in the Kazekage's bedroom, Gaara continued his advances as he pushed me backwards to the bathroom. His sand kept moving around us, opening and closing the door while his hands were roaming over my body. Clothes were thrown all over the place and I let my hands slip over the naked chest that appeared before me. I liked my lips before being raised into the shower as the redhead stepped inside. My back pressed against the cold tiles and I felt one hand disappear from my body before water fell down. I let out a yelp in surprise before laughing loudly. Gaara pulled me back against him and kissed me under the ray of water. We shared some more kisses before the Kazekage retreated and grabbed the soap. “Let's get you clean,” he whispered while letting his free hand run over my side. He tenderly kissed me and started soaping me up. He started with my arms to move to my chest, giving my breasts extra attention and turning me on in the process. Another kiss was shared and he kneeled down to attach his lips to my stomach. His soapy hands followed his mouth as he descended to my legs. He kissed the inside of my thigh and a moan slipped from my lips. I could feel him smirk against my skin as his hands continued cleaning my legs—they moved everywhere, except to the place I wanted them. Then he suddenly raised himself and pecked my lips. “Turn around,” he whispered huskily and I couldn't help myself as I felt his hard length press against my hip. Slowly, I turned around while letting my finger grace over his cock with feather-like touches. He groaned into the back of my neck and took a deep breath to steady himself. Once back in control he started cleaning my back, descending to my butt. There his fingers slipped over my hips to my front and finally touched my clit. I moaned loudly and pressed my butt against his length. His fingers were doing wonders and I had to steady myself against the wall from the pleasure running through my body. Glancing backwards I noted his concentration and wiggled my butt. His face clearly showed my actions were giving him pleasure and pushed myself backwards. His penis ended up between my buttocks and I moved myself up and down against it. I felt him gasp against the back of my neck and accelerated my movement. A groan came from between his lips and he pushed back before stepping away.
“Gaara!” I whined as he retreated and I could see him clean his hands as I peered over my shoulder.
“We still have to wash your hair,” he innocently smiled, completely recovered and I groaned.
`This is his revenge,' I realized as I laid my forehead against the wall. I heard him close the shampoo cap and next thing I knew there were hands in my hair. He started gently massaging my scalp and I reacted by leaning my head backwards. When he was done, he moved my head under the water and rinsed out the shampoo. Afterward, he turned me back around, facing him and tenderly kissed me. Then his fingers moved downwards again and I felt him slip inside. He prepared me with the last of his patience, raised one of my legs and entered me in one swift motion. “Finally!” I chuckled and tried to move but his hands were suddenly compromising my movements. Glancing backwards again I saw him smirk at my struggle. “Gaara?!” I whined and tried to move again, but he stayed sheathed deep inside me. My hand moved backwards to his cheek and guided his head towards me for a kiss. As we broke for air, he slowly slid out of me and I moaned loudly when he pushed back in. My voice got louder with every thrust and reached its maximum when I climaxed. Gaara promptly followed and leaned me against the wall as he caught his breath, staring straight into my eyes the entire time.
“I guess I'll have to clean you again…” he panted and I laughed before answering.
“That's so cliché.”
-
“You're back!” Temari exclaimed and quickly wiped a tear from her eye.
“Hi,” I greeted her and Shikamaru as they entered Gaara's office. The pregnant woman skipped towards me and hugged me close to her bosom.
“Now you can still be my bridesmaid!” she cried tears of happiness and her fiancé pulled her off me again. I was slightly wondering if she had lost it as Temari was pushed down on a chair. Her tears suddenly made place for a determined expression, directed to her brother. “Shizuka's back so the wedding is set for next week!” she decided and my eyes widened in surprise. Gaara rolled his eyes before nodding reluctantly; it was obvious they've had this conversation before.
“You'll accept my condition?” the Kazekage asked and now the blonde gave a short nod, clearly against her will.
“I have a wedding to arrange.” Her mood drastically changed again as she jumped up. “Shizuka, tomorrow you'll try on your dress!” she ordered me and left without waiting for an answer.
“What a drag…” Shika muttered as he followed her and I could only stare at their retreating backs.
“Her moods have definitely gotten worse,” I said before turning back to Gaara. “What are you writing?” I asked curious; I knew it wasn't the letter to Konoha, as he had already written that.
“A recall,” he answered in a monotone voice without looking up.
“What's the plan?” And his blue-green eyes finally looked up.
“I know you haven't been sitting idle.” I told him and he continued the recall before leaning backwards against the back of his chair.
“Most of our men have started special training, the villagers have been warned and are on standby to evacuate and we have started to strengthen the weak points of the village,” he summarized and again I found that he looked older. “I've also tried to establish a connection with the Tsuchikage, but have been unsuccessful.” I nodded and tried to come up with anything that could still be taken as a precaution. Gaara rolled up his message and got up. “Let's go eat something,” he suggested while his hand guided me to turn before settling on my lower back.
“Yeah,” I answered as he was already leading me to the door. .
-
The first night back, I was so glad to be back in Gaara's arms and thought I could sleep for a whole day, but sleep didn't come. The redhead beside me was already in a deep sleep, which didn't surprise me with how tired he looked. `These past few weeks have been hard on him,' I thought and felt guilty because that had been partly my fault. `But he must have already known what I would do. He knows I would do anything to save him,' I tried to ease my own conscience and snuggled closer to the body heat beside me. `I won't let him die, even if it costs my own life!' I promised myself.
-
It surprised me the next day had come and I blinked my eyes open as I heard Gaara rustle around the room. I focused on him and noted he was dressing himself. “Good morning,” I yawned and he smiled at me.
“If you wake up now, you could have breakfast with the Konoha ninjas,” he suggested and I nodded sleepily before his words made sense in my mind. He stepped to the bed and leaned over, kissing me gently. I hummed against his lips and watched him leave. Yawning, I stretched my arms and slowly got up. I walked to the bathroom and did my morning ritual before also leaving in search of my daddy and the happy couple. I found them on my way to the guests' quarters and we quickly decided to eat outside.
“So how did you two make up?” Sakura asked coyly and I blushed on cue.
“I'm sure you can guess. Probably the same way you and Sai passed last night.” I teased her back and she had the dignity to look away.
“You copulated?” Sai asked, genuinely interested and both Sakura and I turned scarlet.
“What's wrong with you two?” Kaeda showed up behind us.
“I just asked if Shizuka-chan has copulated with the Kazekage like Sakura-chan and I did last night.” Again, Sai had the best intentions and my Suna friend blinked stupidly at us. Then suddenly a wicked smile appeared on her face.
“So, did you?” she asked raising her eyebrows suggestively and I knew my face had turned as red as it physically could.
“Let's go eat!” I yelped and pulled Sasuke with me.
“You didn't answer!” Kaeda yelled from behind me.
“This is so embarrassing,” I mumbled to my daddy who agreed without a word. We entered a small restaurant and immediately got pointed to a private table. Kaeda entered after us, giggling like mad together with a huffing Sakura. Sai entered last, massaging his head and staring confused at us. “You really do know how to pick them, don't you, Sakura?” I teased her and she sent me a warning glance but that didn't stop Kaeda or me from laughing.
“Seriously now, the Kazekage didn't give you a hard time?” My pink friend asked.
“Not really, we called it even.”
“I'm not surprised.” Kaeda nodded and I gave her a look, asking to explain. “When you didn't return on time, Kankuro was, well, freaking out to put it simply, but the Kazekage didn't act surprised at all. I think he knew what you were planning when you left.” I was glad to hear my own suspicion being said aloud by someone else.
“Yeah, I think so too. What happened here in Suna, while we were away?” I changed the subject and four pair of eyes turned to Kaeda.
“Euhm, most of the genins and chunins have been recalled, only the jonins are still going on missions and then only the life-threatening.” She started. “The villagers have been warned and a lot of them are already leaving to find shelter with friends or family outside of Suna. The ones that are staying are ready to evacuate at any time.” I remembered Gaara saying something similar. “I also know Konoha has already been informed and is accepting fugitives.” Kaeda ended and looked around the table—everyone had gotten quiet.
“This is really happening, isn't it?” I asked and the others quietly agreed.
-
I was staring out of the window in Gaara's office while the redhead was working behind me. We had just seen off Sasuke, Sakura and Sai and I felt a little lonely as the Kazekage had given Kaeda a short mission. For the first time, I got the feeling Suna was being deserted because of the fewer people that seemed to pass the Tower. “You should get some training,” Gaara interrupted my thoughts and I turned to him.
“Does that mean I can stay?”
“You would do that anyway,” came the retort as sea-green eyes glanced in my direction.
“That's true,” I chuckled and pushed myself off the wall. I walked to the Kazekage's chair and wrapped my arms around the redhead from behind. “I'll look for Kou-Sensei in a minute,” I whispered in his ear and kissed his earlobe. Gaara sighed and with one swift movement I was sitting on his lap. Our lips met and I sighed in delight—how I had missed this. Our tongues collided and I pushed my body closer to the redhead's. Gaara indulged me until he broke for air. Then he patted my back and gave me a look. I pouted but knew my minute had passed and slipped from his lap. “I'm already gone.” I started making my way to the door before stopping and twirling around. “Don't forget to put chakra in the brooch.” The Kazekage blinked at me before waving me back. Quizzically, I stepped back to his desk and gave him my hand as he was holding out his. Immediately, I felt his chakra enter my system and I shook my head. “I'm not a chakra reserve, you know.” I said but didn't pull my hand out of his reach. When he was done, he released me and waved me gone. Again, I rolled my eyes before finally leaving the room.
-
I found Kou-Sensei training with Honou-san. “Shizuka-sama, I had heard of your return.” My sensei greeted me as soon as he saw me. His companion bowed at me and I bowed back at them.
“Why am I not surprised? Could I join your training?” Both men glanced at each other. “I know I'm not on your level, but maybe just some pointers and Gaara would probably be happy if I stay near you guys.” Kou-Sensei had started shaking his head in denial before I had finished.
“You're more than welcome, Shizuka-sama. I'm curious as to what you have learned during your leave.” The jonin agreed with him in silence. “Why don't we spar and Honou-san can practice his observation skill while watching us,” the chunin asked.
“I'm okay with that,” I smiled. Ten minutes later my hand hit my training partner's back before I received a hit myself. Rolling over the ground, the distance between us enlarged and I pushed myself up again. To my surprise, a small tornado moved my way, taking sand with it. Quickly, I folded my hands and blew a Katon against the tornado to put pressure against it. The tornado lost part of its power but the wind also took the fire with it and a fire tornado emerged before me. I jumped backwards to a safer distance and watched how Honou-san conjured a sand circle that enclosed the fire. The sand coloured here and there but no fire or wind broke through. After the oxygen had been used up inside the cylinder, Honou-san let the sand fall back to the ground.
“Wow, you've grown stronger, Shizuka-san.” Kou-Sensei praised me as I was still staring at the burnt sand in front of me.
`The only thing that can save fire from dying and give it more power is wind.' I heard Naruto's voice in my head and felt a sadness emerge from my heart. `I guess it's really possible to miss someone you have never met.' I sighed before asking my sensei to continue the training.
