Last time: After a run in with one of the 20 assassins we caught our breath and took a break before continuing our mission to the land of waves. Only to find that this mission seemed to have more to it than meets the eye, the question that remains is that where is the band of 20 assassins and what's their plan?

Today on My Ninja Way: The rare flower of love and sanity.

Deep in the dark mountains was a dark, creepy, haunted looking mansion. Through the fog a figure was silently walking through the mist with a little girl on its shoulder.

“Isn't it great that we're all going to be reunited, brother?”

“Yes. It has been many long years since the whole gang was together.”

The little girl looked at the sky in question. “Hm. How did our bodies revive?”

“I'm not sure, but I'm sure big boss is responsible for it, rin.”

Rin looked ahead “Look, ryuu, it's the mansion still dreary as ever.”

Ryuu chuckled evilly. “As those humans say: home sweet home”

They approached the double doors and went right through it with no trouble.

(That's their amazing ability, to go through any objects, even people.

For a fast kill, rin approaches the enemy and detracts them long enough for ryuu to enter the enemies' body and destroy them from the inside out.)

Rin looked at the ceiling. “I sense boss's chakra upstairs…I think I can sense his brother's chakra too.”

Ryuu “I see. The others are probably aren't resurrected yet. Doesn't matter. I want to know how we were awaken from our slumber.”

Rin jumped off his shoulder and walked up the stairs with both hands behind her head. “Who cares how we were resurrected? We're alive so we should make the best of it.”

They walked the second floor hallway until they came to another set of double doors. You could see dark chakra emitting from it and large amounts of it. Ryuu opened the doors. “Gennosuke, where's your brother? We want answers about our rebirth.”

Gennosuke opened his mouth to speak and dark fog slowly seeped out.

Rin shivered in disgust and pinched her nose. “Ugh. We can wait for your brother. Just close your mouth. Your breath reeks of dead bodies.”

Gennosuke points to a crystal ball that was placed in front of him. Ryuu and rin sat in front of it to see what he was trying to tell them…

It was midnight in the village hidden in the leaves. The picture switched over to the Takemina mansion. Two dark figures stood on the roof of the main sacred building.

The dark figures teleported inside and raised the room until they found what they were looking for, a red crystal ball with the Kenji symbol of life engraved on it. Both nodded and threw an explosive tag on the support beams of the room.

Rin gasped. “Is that?”

“The crystal ball of life.” Ryuu finished. “That crystal ball can resurrect the dead if put in the right hands and used correctly. It's completely useless to steal that thing! None of use can use that unless they have the dang Takemina blood running through them!”

Gennosuke placed his hand over the crystal ball again to change the picture. This time it showed the same black figures at the Aburame mansion.

Rin eyed the crystal all. “It's impossible to raid that mansion. It's completely covered with insects that stand watch day and night! None but an Aburame can get in and out of that mansion without being detected by those bugs!”

Both black mysterious ninjas pulled brown balls from a hidden bag that they carried. They threw the balls over the gates and watch them explode.

Ryuu “They must've used knock out gas that only works on bugs of all kinds.”

Rin “But will it work? It can't be that simple.”

The black ninjas jumped inside the Aburame mansion with out any detection and left without any trouble.

Rin leaned closer “What did they steal this time, brother?”

Ryuu eyed the black crystal ball closely. “It looks like the ball of intense darkness. Any perfectly evil man can get their greedy hands on it and use it as they please. For example: they can increase their dark power to who knows what limit and the power can never leave them or they can turn any goody- goody into an evil monster.”

The crystal ball turned completely purple cloud.

Rin crossed her arms. “I don't understand. Why would the boss want those two crystal balls?”

Gennosuke “The ball of life will restore our band of assassins…and the ball of intense darkness will be used to control anyone we please…”

Ryuu stood up “Surely that's not all that's planned. What's the boss really after?”

Gennosuke “My brother…told me to make sure everyone gathers here…”

Rin leaned closer. “That's it?” she inquired.

Gennosuke nodded “That's it.”

Rin puts the older man in a headlock. “That can't be it! What are we suppose to do?!”

(La, la, la it's morning time! Get out of bed and bust a rhyme!)

 

Naruto and Marie stood near the large river bank that was several feet away from the strong water fall. Naruto was in his… (I don't know if he was in his boxers or swim trunks so…I'll say green shorts.) Marie was in a black tank top and red shorts.

They turn their heads to each other and gave each other a signal before jumping in.

“SHADOW CLONE: FISHING JUTSU!!! Yahoo!!!”

The Naruto and Marie shadow clones all jumped into the river with a big splash, wetting neji and shino who were standing on the shore. Both growled in protest and stood on guard again waiting for a moment to strike.

It was silent. Then 6 fish popped out of the water and Neji threw six shuriken to pins them to the tree. The original Marie and Naruto came up from out of the water gasping for air.

Shino “Is that it? There's only six. Go do it again”

Marie dragged her soaked body out of the river and stood between neji and shino.

Shivering she growled. “Tch. I-I'm not going back in there, the water's colder than I thought it would be. B-besides there's a snake and a snapping turtle in there.”

Neji scoffed. “I don't care if the loc nes monster is in there”

Not wanting to hear his next statement Marie pushed neji into the river. Naruto laughed his head off when he saw Neji's face when he fell in and earned a splash from him.

Shino sigh and gather the fish. “Nobody takes anything seriously around here.”

Naruto yelled in protest. “Oh, really, huh? What have I been doing?!”

 

Everyone sat in a circle around the campfire with breakfast in hand.

Naruto and Marie shouted happily “One. Two, three! Feeding Frenzy!”

Everyone watched in amazement at how Marie was matching naruto's eating habits.

For heiresses are supposed to be poise, well-mannered, and just plain not Naruto!

Neji and Hinata have seen how Marie eats at their family dinners. She sits gracefully in a seat that was pulled out for her and smiles sweetly at the person who does it. When she eats it's like watching a ballet. Slow and graceful. When she's done chewing she would neatly wipe her mouth and take small sips of water.

Shino's dream of Marie completely shattered when he was her pigging out just like Naruto. `She really is different than I thought she'd be.'

Marie stopped chewing for a minute and looked at everyone. “What? Is there something on my face?” She felt her face.

Naruto pointed his chopsticks at her. “You got fish all over your face.”

Neji “You're acting like a pig. You never ate like this before.”

She shook her head. “That's because I was in public. Eating like that is so annoying.”

The old man spoke up from out of the blue. “I'm begging you all! Don't make me go home! I can't return to my wife!” he sobbed.

Naruto “What's the big deal? Why don't you want to go home to your wife?”

Old man “She never lets me do anything that I want to do. She's always accusing me of chasing after younger women. Heartless I yell ya! No trust.”

Marie mutters in another direction. “I can't blame her. I don't trust you.”

Neji stood up “Okay. We've rested up enough. Let's get going.”

(I'm skipping ahead because I'm so tired and I can't think straight through the rest. My spelling is starting to slip and my sentences don't make sense…….Read over it?! My eyes are burning looking at the computer screen!)

*~Marie's pov*~

According to Naruto we were close to the land of waves now. I hope so…not that I want to admit it but my throat and head are killing me! My throat feels like it's on fire and my head feels like a bolder smashed against it. I could feel my body slowing down behind the others.

“Cough! Cough!”

Naruto turned around to see me lagging behind. “Come on, pick it up!”

I was going to shout but I ended up coughing even harder and collapsed.

I could tell everyone gather around me and I could hear the concern in their voices.

I couldn't focus any more… I tried to keep my eyes open but they felt like lead.

DREAM (Marie age 9)

 

“Marie…this is shoji and until I can inform the hokage about him, he's staying with us. Take care of him while I'm gone.” Mrs. Takemina slammed the door.

I gazed at shoji. `He has blood all over him. Is it his…or someone else's?'

“Uh…You have blood on you. Do you want to take a bath?”

Shoji didn't say anything. He just kept a cold glare on his face and tugged his shirt.

“Do you want me to come with you or do you want to go alone?”

Shoji didn't move and remained silent and held his icy stare.

“I'm going to help you…is that okay? Let's go.”

I leaded him towards the bathroom. “The bath is already filled. You can use it.”

Any person would think he didn't have a mind of his own at that point…

“Do you need help…with your clothes?” I slowly pulled off his kimono.

The blood reaches form the side of his face down to his neck and chest.

`So much blood…did he hurt himself in a fight?'

I grabbed a rag and dipped it in the hot bathtub. I rung it out and walked over to shoji.

“May I wipe your neck?”

Shoji never said any words, so I asked him for permission every time I did something.

He always seemed fragile. I remember that he didn't stay very long…he just up and left one night and never came back. I wonder what happened to him.

 

End dream.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw a face staring at me. Remembering what happened I quickly sat up, only to bump heads with shino. He sat back and grabbed his forehead.

I fell back on my head, both thinking that the other has a very hard forehead.

I grabbed my head and yelled. “Ow! Why'd you do that? Were you trying to kiss me?”

Shino regained his composer when an elderly lady walked into the room.

“I was keeping an eye on you. This woman has cured you of your coughing.”

The elderly lady extended her hand. “Call me grandma. Who are you?”

Something strange came over me when she asked that. I stood up and twirled around them in a graceful manner. “I am Marie. The leaf villages lovely diva.”

Shino and Grandma stared at me like I've grown two heads.

I grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of my head. “Heheheh. Sorry. I didn't mean that. I'm Marie Takemina heiress of the Takemina clan in the hidden leaf village.”

Grandma “Nice to meet such a nice girl. Here. Drink this.” She hands her a cup.

“That's a very special medicine. It's to keep that poison in you at bay while your other friends retrieve the real antidote. This fine young man stayed behind to watch you while I make the medicine, such a nice boy.”

I sniffed the liquid in the cup and pinched my nose. “Belch! It smells awful!”

Shino sat next to me. “Unless you want to die sooner than expected, you better drink.”

I was about to take a sip. “Can I know what's in it before I chug it down?” I took a sip.

Grandma kept a smile on her face. “There's: Dried newt. Fish guts, snake blood, dried grass and worm, a bumblebee's honey, dung from a dung beetle, cockroaches, and spiders eggs, oh and some onions, horse meat, leeks…”

I had long spit the medicine at shino's face. I ran over to the window and vomited.

“That has got to be the sickest thing I have ever shoved down my throat!”

Grandma held up another cup. “I've made more so drink up!”

I continued to hang out the window. “No thanks.”

Shino stood up and took the drink from grandma and handed it to me.

“Do you honestly want to die?” he said seriously with worry in his voice.

I looked at him with an unsure gaze and then looked and the cup.

“Hey! Hey! Is this it?!” Naruto yelled holding up a blue flower with red thorns.

(Thank you, shrek and donkey!)

“Quiet Naruto!” neji yelled as quietly as possible. “We're on an unstable mountain!”

“What?! Can you yell a little louder?! I can't hear you!!”

The side of the mountain started shaking dangerously. All three of them held on to the face of the mountain for dear life until it stopped with just little pebbles of rock rolled down the side of the mountain. When it was over they all sighed in relieve.

“See? If you would have yelled any louder it would've caused a rock slider, you idiot!”

Naruto shook his fist. “Well, why didn't you say that this was an unstable mountain?”

Neji yelled, “I already did, or weren't you listening!?”

Hinata finally intervened. “Uh, Naruto. Is that the right flower? Red flower with blue thorns? Is it the right one?”

Naruto looked at it closely. “I guess this is the wrong one, then. This is a blue flower with red thorns. Who ever heard of a red flower with blue thorns?”

Neji “It's a very rare flower that only grows on this mountain once a year. It's difficult to find. That's why nobody has heard of it.”

Hinata looked up the mountain. “Do you think we have to climb higher?”

Neji nodded. “That would be best. Remember Naruto; red flower, blue thorns.”

“Yeah, yeah. Red flower blue thorns, red flower blue thorns. Red flower, blue thorns,

Blue flower red thorns, blue flower, red thorns…” `This wouldn't be so hard if I could just stay focus!!!'

Shino and grandma were sitting at a small in the living room, drinking tea. Also trying to ignore the currently unstable Marie, who's sipping back and forth behind them and talking in a very fast way that they barely understand.

“Wow.thatwasgreat!idon'tknowwhatwasinthatstuffandidon'twant toknow.Hey!amitalkingtofast? Whatareyoutwodoingsippingtea?” She stripped over shino's pillow that he was sitting on and hit the wall. Slowing pulling herself off, she ran around again.

(She said: I don't know what was in that stuff and I don't want to know. Hey! Am I talking too fast? Why are you two sitting there drinking tea?”)

“Hey! Doyouguyshearangelssingging? Ican'tfeelmyfaceanymore! Howcomeeverythinglooksblue?! Whycan'tibecomeonewithmeinnerself?!”

(Hey! Do you guys hear angels singing? I can't feel my face anymore! How come everything looks blue? Why can't I become one with my inner self?)

Shino puts down his tea. “Maybe you shouldn't have put that extra spoon of vinegar.”

Grandma outs her cup away from her mouth. “I think you're right.” And sips again.

Marie flops on shino and hugs him. “Shino! Why won't you play with me?”

Shino tenses by her sudden closeness. “I don't feel like playing with you.”

Marie pouts. “Ooh, but why not? Don't you want to play with me? We could play hide-and-seek in the dark together.”

“It's not even night-time so there's no point.” He stated.

“We could play truth or lie.”

“No.”

“A karaoke contest?”

“No.”

“Crazy-eights?”

“No.”

She slouched a bit and then smiled. “Then… will you go on a date with me when we get back to the village?”

Redness found its way onto shino's face. “W-what? Why would you ask me that?”

“Well? Why wouldn't I? You're cute and I like the strong silent type. Please?”

“No. I can't.”

Fake tears swelled up in her eyes. “S-so…that means…you don't like me?”

“I do like you…just not like that…” He lied.

(If I said it was true I couldn't forgive myself. And I couldn't deal with the drama.)

~Silence~

The front door slid open and everyone came back.

Naruto “Hey, old lady, we found the flower of love and sanity.”

Grandma puts down her tea and grabs the flower and began making the medicine.

“Right on time too, the young girl has left her insanity stage and is now in the love stage. Be careful though, she could go berserk again in a blink of an eye.”

 

(Hours later)

 

Marie rubbed her head. After drinking the entire disgusting antidote she got a headache from all the running around and crashing into the wall earlier. But for some strange reason she couldn't remember anything that happened from the time she drank the tea that shino gave her. After hearing the story from the old lady and shino, they agreed to keep it a secret.

“So…the mission is accomplished?”

Neji “We got the old man back home to his wife safely. So yes, it's over.”

Marie crossed her arms. “Aw. I wanted to stay longer. As soon as I get back home I'll have to get back into that heiress kimono and get locked up inside the mansion again. Man, what a drag.”

(Shikamaru isn't the only one who can say that.)

Hinata “Are you going to try and sneak out again?”

Marie gave her thumbs up. “You bet. I'm going to the hot springs and then I'm going to go shopping for more ninja gear.”

Naruto “Hey! Why don't we stay the night and when we get back, let's have Iruka -sensei treat us to some ramen!”

Marie asked “Can't you think of anything besides ramen, Naruto?”

Naruto counted on his fingers. “I think of becoming hokage, beating sasuke, what different types of ramen I should order…”

Everyone shared a good laugh as he listed all the things he would think about.

Night fell hours later and everyone shared the living room to sleep. Boys on the left and girls on the right, so that there wouldn't be any words about someone being a pervert in the morning.

Naruto: Upon leaving the land of waves we came across the Great Naruto Bridge, we came across a young looking man and an old looking lady! Ah! Sorry! Did I say old? I mean young!!

Marie: You should no better than to insult the enemy, Naruto! Especially if it's a women!

Neji: Get on with it already or do I have to do it?

Shino: These two are after us. They must be two more from the band of assassins.

Naruto: That creepy lady sure likes to play…but she does look cute, despite her age.

Hinata: n-Naruto.

Marie: Get your tongue off the floor Naruto. We got business to attend to!
