Chapter 4: The Flame

Naruto stood outside of Sakura's apartment. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. There was no way that the so-called-amazing Uchiha could have…well…could have had sex with his Sakura. She was too strong willed and wasn't the kind to give into temptation. There was no way that it was possible. Naruto had been sitting there for at least an hour and finally the screams and moans had subsided. Feeling queasy with the fires of jealousy and hate for Sasuke, he ran down the hall and into the public bathroom. Sasuke laid his head on Sakura's, not ever wanting to let her go. Sakura had fallen asleep soon after they had made love, both of them exhausted. Neither of them had ever had sex before. Sasuke swore that he heard someone outside of Sakura's door, but he decided to ignore it. It didn't matter, as long as whoever it was didn't try to ruin their perfect state. Sakura moved a bit in Sasuke's arms, then slowly opened her emerald orbs, only to have them meet his dark black ones. Was he holding her a bit tight? Yes. She was having a hard time trying to breath. Sasuke's arms were wrapped tight around her chest and over her breasts. Did she want him to let her go? No. Never in a million years had she seen this happening.

Naruto sat against the wall of the apartment complex, once again outside of Sakura's door. He let out a soft sigh, not really understanding what had happened. When he thought of what he had heard, then anger hidden deep within his soul flared up once again. This wasn't right. Sasuke had no right coming back after five years without so much as a good-bye to Sakura and mess up his life. Uzumaki Naruto was not going to let that happen. He had to win Sakura over. He just had to. But there was one problem… How was he going to pull off that one?

Sakura looked up at Sasuke, her eyelids threatening to fall. Sasuke gently pushed back her pink hair and smiled before standing. He lifted her into his arms and carried her to her room. She smiled at him once again, her eyes closing as he laid her onto her bed. Sasuke pulled back the covers and snuggled against her, his coal eyes closing as he felt Sakura's breathing become rhythmic. Sakura whimpered a bit in her sleep and snuggled against him tighter, afraid in her own mind that if she moved away, he would be gone when she woke up. Sasuke smiled in his sleep as he felt the warmth of his love's body against his. But there was something in him that wished he could tell Sakura the truth. Tell her that he was back for another reason. Not that he didn't come back for her; he still wanted to let her know that Itachi was still alive. If he was dead, Sasuke could actually remain in peace, but without him gone, it was hard to even think of what might possibly happen to Sakura. When she awakes, he told himself, I am going to tell her the truth. Why I am really here. And why she shouldn't be around him.
Sakura didn't really go to sleep. Her mind was racing with questions. Like, why is he here? What did he want with her? Was she the only reason he came back? Slowly, Sakura opened her eyes and looked a Sasuke. His coal black eyes were staring off into the distance of her home, not really settling on anything in particular. For some reason, when he looked down at her and smiled, she felt as if something wasn't quite right. She let out a soft sigh and looked away, then back to him.
“Sasuke… Is Itachi really dead?”
Her question surprised him. How in the world did she know that he wasn't telling her something? A soft noise escaped Sasuke's lips. It wasn't a sigh or anything of the sort. Sasuke looked down at her and offered an explanation.
“No…He isn't. And you shouldn't be around him, Either…Or Me…it's too dangerous. if he finds us together, he'll kill us both.”
Sakura's emerald eyes widened at his word. To him, this was all a one-time thing. He had no feelings for her. She was so blind to think that he loved her. Her eyes slowly closed as she tried to hide her anger. Slowly grabbing her clothing, she began to speak. Her voice was soft and cool, but was somewhat shaky.
“So this was just a one-time thing? Nothing more?”
Sasuke looked over her form and then away. He really did love her. He truly did. But what was he supposed to tell her, “I'm getting rid of you because I don want you killed?” Then she would find him an even bigger jackass than she already thought that he was.
“No…it…it wasn't a lie, Sakura-Chan. I swear.”
She just shook her head, not wanting to hear him any longer.
“I'm leaving for a while…I'll be back…Maybe..”
Sakura grabbed the keys to her door and walked out, not even noticing the tall, dark figure lurking in the hallway
