Chapter Two: The Next Day
“Sakura, Candice, are you two up yet?” Mrs. Haruno yelled through the house.
They both looked at their clocks and groaned.
“I'm up.” They both replied as they got up to get ready.
`I really should get more sleep.' Candice thought looking at her reflection in the mirror. `Okay, how about my Capri's, and a tee. Sounds good to me.'

At five to six, both the girls were heading out of the door.
“Bye mom, dad.” Sakura said walking out the door.
“Bye Mr. and Mrs. Haruno.” Candice said grabbing her bag as she walked out the door.

“So, you've already met Sasuke-kun and Naruto-kun, but you'll meet Kaka-sensei, today. He's kind of odd.”
“Well, who isn't?” Candice asked shrugging. `Kaka-sensei … I wonder if I should call him that.' With that thought on her mind she smirked. “I'd bet he'd love that.” She murmured.
“Huh?” Sakura looked at her inquisitively, “did you say something?”
“No, just talking to myself, you know?”
“Yeah.”
They reached the bridge around 6:15, and the energetic kitsune was all ready to meet them.
“Ohaiya Sakura-chan, Candice-chan.”
“Ohaiya Naruto-kun, Sasuke-kun.” They replied. Sakura sat down by Sasuke and Naruto soon joined her.
“I thought we were late Sakura, doesn't training start at 6?” Candice looked at the three.
“That's what time it's supposed to start, but Sensei is always late, by at least a couple of hours.” Sakura replied.
Kakashi had arrived a little before Sasuke and was listening to the conversation, very interested in what his team actually thought of him.
“Well, I'm sure he's not always late.”
“Is too! Candice-chan. And he always makes up these lame excuses to why he's late.” Naruto replied angrily.
“Have you ever thought that maybe he has a reason, like say testing your patience, or seeing what you do when you don't have a older member around to guide you? He's not always going to be there and I'm sure he wants to know that he has trained you all to be responsible shinobi and kunochi.” Candice looked over at the three of them, they all looked like they were deep in thought. `I'm gonna take a walk if he isn't going to show up for another hour or so.'
Kakashi was so shocked that he almost let go of the jutsu that was hiding his presence, ` She only met me once and we only talked for less than an hour, how does she do that?' Then he saw her start to leave. `Another walk? Doesn't this girl do anything else?'
Everyone, including older ninjas thought of him as always being late, but he was always early, just watching everything going on around him. She must have sensed him. `But how? Not even the legendary Sannin can sense me with this jutsu. She is…intriguing.'
`It's so beautiful here.' Candice thought laying down on the grass looking at the trees and clouds. “Maybe I will end up staying”, she whispered to herself.
“You were thinking about leaving?” Kakashi said quietly, jumping down to lie down next to her.
She looked over at him, “So I was right, you've been here all along.”
“Yes, how'd you know?” Kakashi looked at her inquisitively.
“You don't seem like someone to be late and you seem to really care about your team. Teachers in America wouldn't stay up late in the morning worrying about their students just to be late. You're testing them, teaching them, protecting them, loving them as a lion would his pups.” He stared at her and she just gave him a small smile.
“You've knew me for less than a hour and know me better than people that have known me my whole life. How do you do that?” He said still staring in awe of her.
“I could just tell, if people actually paid more attention to you, they would understand you too. It's the same with everyone else.”
Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke all had heard voices and found Kakashi and Candice talking, so they decided to listen.
“Okay then tell me about my students.”
She raised her eyebrow, then shrugged her shoulders. “Alright, let's start easy. Naruto is a sweet boy that is scared to death of people not accepting him, because of the Kyuubi. He hides behind smiles and laughter and acting stupid, hoping to get positive attention. Instead of being seen as a hero as he truly is, he's seen as a demon, evil, the spawn of the devil himself. But inside he's truly just a scared little boy wanting to be loved.”
Sakura and Sasuke looked at Naruto who was silently crying.
“Sasuke is a boy that's scared to open his heart because he's scared that once he does, they'll leave him, turn on him, or die. That's one of the reasons that he would always put down Sakura instead of telling her that he truly likes her, maybe even loves her. He's truly just a scared little boy wanting to be loved, just like Naruto.”
Sakura and Sasuke look at each other, Sakura was in shock and Sasuke was red from embarrassment.
“And last but not least, Sakura. She's not that different from Sasuke or Naruto, the main difference is that she has her family. But that doesn't mean that she doesn't hurt, or feel alone, or feel pain. Sometimes you can be in a room full of people that love you and feel all alone. That's how she feels. It's just nobody can tell because she hides it well behind her smile. But she doesn't have anyone to talk to, her and Ino are still rivals, and Sasuke and Naruto have each other. But I think that if you want this teamwork to actually work, everyone has to know about each other and be there for each other, because if they're not, they'll end up losing someone. And that they'll regret more than anything else.”
By now, all three were crying and it wasn't as silent anymore.
Kakashi was as stunned as ever.
“You wanna go out?” Kakashi's eyes widened and his cheeks flushed. `Where'd that come from, I always hide my feelings? What is it about this girl that makes them come out?'
`He's asking me out, pinch me I must be dreaming.' “Kakashi-kun, I don't know I mean we just met…”
Suddenly his hand came out and muffled her speech. She looked at him questionably and he pointed to the bushes where muffled cries were coming from. She nodded and he let his hand go. He got up swiftly and held out his hand for her. She took it and they walked to the bushes where the cries were coming from.
Candice's eyes widened, `They heard everything, they weren't supposed to, Oh KUSO!!!!!!'
Kakashi looked from his team to Candice, `I better say something, it's weird to see them all crying, I mean even Sakura hasn't cried in front of anyone in a couple of years. Sasuke's never even shown emotion and Naruto's …' “Well now that everyone's here let's train.”
They all looked at him like he had grown a second head, and started crying harder, even Candice was surprised, but not too surprised.
`I better do something' “Kakashi-kun…” She said smiling.
Kakashi looked over to her a little confused. “Yes?”
“How about we let them have a day off today?” She said still keeping eye contact and her smile firmly in place.
“But Candice-chan …”
`I didn't want this to be the way our first date started but he's gonna make me pull out the big guns. Thank God I like him.' Candice bit her lip, and placed her finger over his mask to silence him.
`She looks so innocent.' Kakashi raised an eyebrow.
“It would give us a perfect chance for our date.” Candice blushed and looked down.
`So adorable, how can I resist? No bad, must train… but she's an angel.' “I agree. Today Team 7 has a day off.” Kakashi said looking at his students.
Candice hugged him as soon as he turned around. “Thank you Kakashi-kun. They needed a day off and so do you.”
