[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

A/N: This is chapter 10. LMAO I just realized that I wrote 'chapter 8' on what was actually chapter 9. I'll get that fixed. Before I address the reviews for this fic, I would like to address a review I got for "Wind and Fire Part 2". Anon: I do appreciate you pointing out the 'would of, should of, could of' problem. Thank you whoever you might be. ^_^ And that brings me to this point, I'm going to be editing those mistakes. I'm trying to switch betas; my new one is very swamped. I'm spell checking and trying to proof my chapters before I post them, so please, please if you notice ANY grammar or spelling errors, mention it in a review. I won't get mad, I'd much rather know so I can fix it. Even if that's the only thing you have to say. I have a pretty thick skin. LOL I have to, I work retail pharmacy. Anyway, on to reviews; Joey: Aw, I'm flattered you like the story so much. This was my come back to writing story. I am truly blown away by the positive response. XD Wolfboy: Thank you! I'm trying to get everything posted. SneakyFox: Thank you! Yeah, I don't think she'll want to either. LMAO Butterfly: *Blushes* Arigato! I love Hinata, she shows up in almost every fic I've ever written. Hmm...HinaShika...I smell a challenge. LMAO Btw, if you like ShikaTema check out Wind And Fire parts 1 & 2. <-----Shameless plug! ROTFLMAO Part 2 is WIP, so 1 can be found on my profile. I have some of the most diverse taste in music. Good to know I'm not the only one. ^_^ ArchFiend: No apology necessary. I thought maybe you lost interest in the story. LOL (It happens, I wouldn't fault anyone for that.) Naruto is starting to draw some conclusions about his dad. *Giggles* I've been toying with a one-shot Yuri of SakuIno, but I don't know...I've never written anything but het. I will definitely let you know it I post it. Other than that, dude! Seriously, you're on to me...LOL I don't want to give away the plot of this chapter, but yeah, you're right. She doesn't know yet though. As always, thank you to ALL my readers. You guys seriously rawk! Btw, dear readers, if any of you are on MySpace feel free to send me a request. LOL Then you can see what this crazy lady looks like: myspace.com/rxtechgirl. Ditto Facebook-AniRayne(idk the URL). Ditto LiveJournal-livejournal.com/rxtechgirl. MySpace is my primary page though. <----Another shameless plug. Anyhoo, much love to my loyal readers.
xoxoxo-Ani
P.S. I do apologize for the delay in updates. I've been dealing with hand issues, namely arthritis and carpal tunnel. I also got sucked into the NFL pre-season and MLB trade drama. It's no excuse, I know. But I also have a really old laptop (circa 1997) that I'm trying to baby until I can get my new laptop. Oy, excuses, excuses. LMAO -Ani

Vindicated-Dashboard Confessional
Hope dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption
Winding in and winding out
The shine of it has caught my eye

And roped me in
So mesmerizing, so hypnotizing
I am captivated

So clear
Like the diamond in your ring
Cut to mirror your intentions
Oversized and overwhelmed
The shine of which has caught my eye
And rendered me so isolated, so motivated
I am certain now that

I am Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
I swear I knew it all along

And I am flawed
But I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever
Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'd be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away
So let me slip against the current
So let me slip away

Slight hope
It dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption...

Chapter 10

Naruto crawled back into bed with a half naked Hinata. He nuzzled his cold nose against her warm neck, causing her to make a squeaking noise. {Kit, that was mean. She's going to get you back, you know...} the fox youkai warned him. 'You worry way too much. She loves it,' he answered the youkai. {Don't say I didn't warn you. Revenge is a dish best served cold and don't you forget it, kit.} 'Kami, it's not like I killed her family. I made her shiver, jeez.' He kissed the back of her neck and wrapped his arm around her mid-section. He grinned when she snuggled against him and sighed contentedly. He could stay like this forever.

The only reason he even got out of bed was to deliver his mission report to Tsunade-sama. He'd wanted to ask her about his parents, but when he got to her office she was sound asleep at her desk. Part of him wanted to shake her awake and demand to know, but he kept remembering Sai's suggestion of respectfully asking her. In the end, he'd left his report under a paperweight and left. He was partway to the door when he went back up to Tsunade's office. Opening a closet door, he pulled out a blanket and draped it over Tsunade's shoulders. He studied her for a moment and looked up at the wall above her, his gaze falling on the picture of the Fourth. He thought about what Sai had suggested. Dismissing the thought, he turned to leave. 'The only thing I have in common with him is blond hair,' he grumbled under his breath as he made his way out of the Homage tower.

"Mmm...Was Lady Tsunade in her office?" Hinata asked sleepily. She wiggled closer to him and closed her eyes again. Damn, she was exhausted, even though she'd slept pretty well the night before. She should have gotten up when he did and made breakfast or was it dinner? She giggled and opened one eye and peeked at the clock, 4:15pm. "I guess that would be dinner," she thought. She could feel his laughter against her back.

Naruto laughed and nibbled at her collarbone. "I take it you're hungry?" he asked, running his tongue along her collarbone and up her neck, making her moan softly. "Grandma was there, but she was sound asleep. So I left my report and came home," he whispered against her neck making her shiver again. {Oi kit, are you going to give her the news?} 'Yeah, gimme a minute,' he grumbled at the fox. Kissing her neck, he ran his hand up her side. His fingers brushed over her scar. He let his fingers follow it up.

Hinata rolled over onto her back and looked up at him. "You just like playing with my scar because it's on my boob," she said, her breath catching as his thumb brushed over her nipple.

"No, I like playing with it because it makes you horny," he growled against her jaw.

Her breath hitched again. "Cha! Makes you horny too," she sighed.

He grinned and danced his fingers up her side, making her yelp. He tickled her until tears ran from the corners of her opal eyes. "I didn't know you were so ticklish, Nata-chan," he said with a devilish grin.

"Stop...it. I...mean it.*wheeze* I...can't...breathe," she panted, twisting out of his reach. She laughed when he pouted. Once she caught her breath, she looked over at her boyfriend. "Yes, I'm extremely ticklish and if you ever do that again...I'll make you wear your ass for a hat," she said with a devilish look of her own.

Naruto just grinned at her. {Watch what you say. Even though I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible, I wouldn't put it past her to try. She's got a lot of fire in her,} the fox said sounding impressed. "I'm pretty sure that's not even physically possible, Nata-chan," he said smiling. {OI! You totally stole my line!} Kyuubi griped. He pulled her across the bed into his arms. "I love you," he breathed into her ear.

She rolled onto her back and tucked her hands behind her head. "I love you too and I will be more than happy to show you it's possible." She felt his hand slide down her side and stop on her bare stomach. She giggled as he traced spirals on her skin.

"So...," he started nipping at her navel. "Have you figured out why you were put on the inactive list yet?" He looked up and locked eyes with her. He pulled the red and white card out of his pocket and handed it to her.

She looked down at the card like it would explode at any moment. Pulling it out of the envelope, she flipped it open and started to read. All the color drained out of her face and she felt faint. Looking up at Naruto, she felt her lower lip tremble and closed her eyes. "I-I went for a pre-mission physical a-and I'm pregnant? Kami, gomen niasai Naruto-kun," she said in a barely audible whisper, feeling the hot pin pricks of tears behind her closed eyelids. She was afraid to look at him, afraid of what he might be thinking.

He touched her cheek, brushing away a tear. "There's no reason to be sorry. Don't cry." He brushed his lips across the hollow of her throat, making her moan softly.

She felt him lay his head on her stomach and she dared to open her eyes. He was facing away from her and she couldn't see his face. She ran her fingers through his thick blond hair. Trying to lighten the mood she joked, "I guess I failed that physical."

He kissed her navel and closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of her fingers massaging his scalp. {Oooo...Kit, you can not lose this one, she's a keeper,} the fox purred. 'Yeah,' he answered. Sleep was calling to him as his body relaxed. "Mm...That feels sooo good, Nata-chan," he sighed. "So, do you want to be mine forever?" he asked as sleep overcame him. Because he was drifting off he didn't hear her answer.

After he'd been asleep for a few minutes she gently laid his head on his pillow and got out of bed. She looked down at him and smiled. He hadn't been sleeping at night. There were a number of times she'd woken up to find him pacing in the backyard or sometimes just sitting out there looking up at the night sky. Hinata never went to him; she figured he was talking to the fox locked inside his body. She changed into her jeans and sweatshirt. Grabbing her coat, she stopped and wrote him a quick note in case he woke up before she got back.

She squinted as she walked along the street; the sun was almost blinding against the slowly melting snow. She wasn't sure where she was going exactly. She'd know when she got there. After a few minutes she found herself in front of the Hokage's office door. She'd been so lost in thought she hadn't noticed she was inside. Hinata knocked softly on the door and waited. After a minute or two she turned to leave and the door slid open. Hinata snapped to attention and bowed slightly. "Lady Tsunade," she said in a quiet voice.

Tsunade chuckled; she wished all of her shinobi were as proper as the Hyuga clan members. "As you were Hinata. What brings you out in this cold, wet mess?" she asked the heiress even though she already knew why the girl was there. She ushered Hinata into her office a sat down behind her desk.

Hinata sat down in the chair that was beside the Hokage's desk. "Um... I'm not sure why I came... I got the card," she looked down at her hands.

Tsunade could understand the girl's anxiety. She patted her knee. "Maybe you have some questions?" she gently prodded.

Hinata looked up at Tsunade. "I don't know what to ask..." She trailed off, blinking back tears. "I can't say, 'How did this happen?' I know how it happened," she said with a forced smile.

Tsunade hid her smile behind her hand. "I guess I'll just tell you the important details then. You're almost eight weeks pregnant. You're also on the inactive list for the duration of you pregnancy. When and if you decide to come back is up to you." Tsunade dreaded telling Hinata the other news. "Unfortunately the medic that did your blood work was a member of the Branch family. Hinata, I'm sorry. Your father knows."

Hinata's jaw dropped open. 'This is just peachy,' she thought. Her birthday was two and half weeks away, what a bittersweet gift. 'Well, if I wasn't already disowned...I am now,' she thought. "Has he spoken to you?" she asked timidly.

The blond glanced out the window for a moment. How could she put into words the way her father reacted to the news, demanding Naruto's blood for ruining his daughter. Tsunade told him in no uncertain terms was he or anyone else to lay a finger on the jinchuriki. After about ten more minutes of ranting Haishi finally calmed down enough to listen to reason. He agreed to leave the couple alone, but wanted to talk to Naruto; alone. She was wary but in the end she agreed to set it up. Tsunade turned her attention back to Hinata. "As I'm sure you've figured out, he's not exactly happy about it. He wants to talk to Naruto," she added in an undertone.

"I've disgraced the Main family," she said sarcastically. "That's the only reason he cares. But you know what? I don't give a damn about what the clan thinks. We love each other and he won't scare Naruto away from me. This child was created out of love and that's a hell of a lot more important than the good of the clan," she said in a determined voice. She stood up and waited for the Godaime to dismiss her.

Tsunade smiled at Hinata. Ever since the incident in Lightning, the heiress had done her best not to be a pushover any more. When Haishi forbid her to live under his roof and remain a kunoichi, she left with only the clothes on her back. Tsunade herself refused to get involved when Haishi demanded she revoke Hinata's ninja registration. She sent the girl on as many extended missions as she could, the Hokage was aware of Hinata's housing status. Every member of the ginning nine with the exception of Kiba was thrilled when Naruto and Hinata finally got together. It didn't take Kiba long to get over himself, although Tsunade was pretty sure the black eye her apprentice gave him had something to do with his change of heart. "I completely agree with you Hinata. I never was a fan of arranged marriages. If you do it, you should do it for love not status," she smiled warmly at Hinata as she dismissed her.

She smiled as she walked home. For some reason she felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She decided to stop by Ichiraku for take out. When she got there she was happy to see Ino and Sakura. She sat down next them at the counter and grinned. "Hi! Y'know it's funny, I was just getting ready to stop by on my way home and here you are," she said with a giggle.

Sakura poked Ino in the side. "See Ino pig, I told you there was a reason we had to have ramen for dinner," she said kissing the blond on the cheek.

Ino blushed and pushed Sakura away playfully. "Down forehead girl. Save it for home," she said running her fingers through Sakura's cotton candy pink hair. She let her fingers trail down Sakura's neck, making her shiver.

"Rawr. I can't wait," she said in a throaty whisper. She turned her attention to Hinata who was giving her order to Ayame. "So 'Nata-chan, what's up?" Sakura asked the heiress. "Seriously, spill it. You are fucking glowing," Sakura paused and closed her eyes, separating Hinata's and Ino's chakra signatures. Her green eyes snapped open and she grinned at Hinata. "You are, aren't you?" she asked.

Hinata blushed and smiled. "Almost eight weeks. We just found out today though. He wants to marry me," she told them.

"Does your family know?" Ino asked, grunting as her girlfriend elbowed her in the ribs.

Hinata laughed bitterly. "Yes, apparently a member of the Branch family worked in the lab that day and of course they ran to my father like a good little doggie," she said angrily. "Now my father wants to talk to Naruto. Yeah, talk sure and try to scare him away from me. I swear I'm starting to really dislike my father." She smiled a polite smile at Ayame as the girl set her order in front of her. She paid Ayame and thanked her. Waiting until the waitress was out of hearing distance, she turned to her two friends. "Technically we became adults when we became kunoichi, right?" she asked in a low voice.

Ino nodded at the heiress. "It's your life. You can't help who you fall in love with," she said kissing Sakura. "Right Sakura-chan?" she whispered against the pink haired medic's mouth.

"Hai," Sakura whispered back.

Hinata looked away feeling like an intruder on the tender moment between her friends. "Well, I better get going so the food doesn't get cold," she said because just leaving would have been rude.

"Aw, don't let us run you off," Ino said pulling Sakura down onto her lap and wrapping her arms around the medic nin.

Sakura giggled at Ino's antics. "Yeah seriously, we need to plan your birthday party. It's two weeks away," she laughed.

Hinata grinned. "Seventeen days, but who's counting?" She picked up the bag of food. "Stop by later on in an hour or so. Then I will help you two lovebirds plan my birthday party," she said over her shoulder as she walked away.

I walked through the forest looking for Hinata. I know this is the way she went;I can smell her soap, lavender with a hint of vanilla. I could hear the sound of rushing water. 'Great, I'm near the Valley. How convenient,' I thought to myself as I broke into a run. I hadn't been in the Valley since... Well, we all know what happened the last time I was here. The sound of the waterfall was getting closer, as was her scent. The fox was surprisingly quiet for once;just the occasional low growl was the only sign of the youkai sealed within his body. He could feel the Kyuubi's chakra mixing with his giving him speed as he ran. He extended his arms out behind him and pitched his body forward and prepared for the next burst of chakra. He ran his tongue across his canines and wasn't surprised to find them elongated and sharp. He saw Hinata sitting on a rock with her back to him. He smiled. 'I found her. Thank Kami,' he thought as her ran towards her. He was almost to the rock when a sudden flash of movement stopped him dead in his tracks. A lone nin stepped out of the shadows. I took a step back. "You!" I shouted like a baka. {Kit...} the fox hissed. I ignored it.

Sasuke stepped forward. He smirked;winding his hand in Hinata's dark hair he yanked her head back exposing her pale throat. The raven haired boy pulled a kunaiout of his holster began to laugh. "You always said you were so much like me. Hn, you never lost anyone because you never had anyone, but...now you do. Don't you?" Sasuke touchedthe cold metal blade lightly against her throat, making her whimperin fear.

Naruto's heart lurched;he didn't know what to do. If he made any sudden moves the teme would slit her throat for sure. He felt another surge of chakra;it was strong enough to make him stagger forward. The growling in his head got louder and his body rebelled against his brain. He knew he couldn't control the Kyuubi for much longer. He barely heard Hinata calling him in a frightened voice.

Sasukesmirked at the internal struggle. "Naruto, I will kill her. You understand that, ne? In fact, I will kill her no matter what you do. Even if yougive up, I will kill her and your child. Why? Because then you will finally know how it feels to lose everyone you love," he said, his words dripping with venom.

Hinata set the bag on the kitchen counter and went looking for Naruto. Figuring he was still asleep, she opened the bedroom door and stepped in the room. She gasped at the sight of him. His whisker-like scars were more pronounced and he was growling. "Naruto?" she called. Getting no response, she moved a little closer to the bed. "Naruto-kun," she said softly to herself. She shook his shoulder. "Naruto!" she yelled shaking harder. His hand shot up grabbing her by the throat. She let out a strangled yelp. Trying to pry his fingers only caused him to squeeze tighter. She closed her eyes and snapped on her Byakugan. Summoning her chakra to her hands, she opened her eyes and looked at his chakra points. A tear rolled down her cheek and she prayed Neji's training took root in her mind. She hadn't ever had to use gentle fist in battle. She damn sure never thought she would have to use it against the man she loved. She started hitting chakra points and finally he let her go. She fell to her knees sobbing his name, begging him to wake up.
***

Naruto watched in horror as the kunai blade tore across her throat. Another burst of chakra hit him as he lunged forward and grabbed his oldest friend by the throat and squeezed. {KIT!} the fox yelled and for some reason he could still hear Hinata calling his name. The growling in his head quieted and he could think a little clearer. {Kit, you have to listen to me. Let go,} the youkai said. 'What? Are you crazy? He killed both of them!' Naruto yelled at the Kyuubi. {Kit just do it! For Kami's sake, have I ever steered you wrong before?} the fox yelped in pain. Naruto felt the strength leaving his fingers and he lost his hold on Sasuke. His eyes wouldn't focus and his knees felt weak. He strained his ears trying to make out the sound he could barely hear. It sounded like someone crying and saying his name. 'Am I dead?' he asked the fox. {No, just wake up kit.} 'What? Wake up? How am I supposed to do that?' he asked. {You figure it out kit...} The sobbing was getting louder and he could clearly hear his name. It was Hinata, she was alive! Now, he just had to figure out how to get to her.
****

Hinata heard him groan and at that moment she knew he was starting to wake up. She got up and touched his shoulder. “Naruto-kun?” she asked in a small voice.

Slowly his blue eyes opened, he looked confused. “Where am I?” he asked sleepily. As he sat up, he looked around the room. {Kit you still with me?} the fox asked him. `Yeah. What happened?' he asked the Kyuubi. {I'll tell you later kit. What you need to do now is make sure you didn't hurt your mate,} the fox hissed. `Um, okay,' he answered. He turned and looked at Hinata; she looked terrified and had angry red marks on her throat. `Shit, flea bag what the fuck did I do?' he asked the Kyuubi. The youkai sighed. {Kit you were dreaming and you tried to strangle her.} `What? Why didn't you stop me? I thought you could that,' he screamed in his mind. {Kit I couldn't stop you. You have control over your body and mind, not me. You need to be talking to her and not me anyway,} Kyuubi said retreating into the corner of Naruto's mind. `Fine I see how helpful you're going to be,' he huffed at the fox. He shifted his gaze over to where she was standing. She looked a little less scared now. “Hinata-chan… I'm so sorry,” he said standing up and walking over to her. He reached up to touch her face, his heart shattered when she flinched away. Letting his hand drop to his side, he took a few steps away from her. “I love you, I would never hurt you. Gomen niasai please believe me,” he said, wanting to pull her into his arms, but he couldn't. He sat on the bed and looked down at his hands. “I could tell you what I was dreaming about if you want,” he offered not really expecting an answer.

Hinata felt terrible; she didn't mean to flinch, she really didn't. She sat next to him on the bed and looked at him. “Okay if you want to talk to me about it,” she said. She listened as he explained the dream to her, flinching as he described her death in the dream. When he was done, she pulled him close. “It's alright I know you weren't yourself. I don't hold it against you. I'm not afraid of you,” she murmured against his neck. She kissed his neck. “I couldn't ever be afraid of you Naruto-kun, I love you. I've always loved you,” she whispered. She sprinkled light butterfly kisses up his neck and along his jaw line, making him sigh in pleasure.

Naruto closed his eyes and held her tight. Kami he loved Hinata so much and to know he'd hurt her… Well it would not happen again he promised himself. He pulled his face away from hers and looked into her snowy eyes. He cupped her cheek in his hand. “I'm so sorry Nata-chan, it will never happen again,” he said with a hint of sadness in his voice. His heart warmed when she turned her face and kissed his calloused palm. He touched the red marks on her neck; some of them were starting to turn purple. “Why does my arm feel weird?” he asked shaking his right hand, trying to get feeling in his fingertips.

Hinata looked away. “I had to use gentle fist to get you to let me go,” she mumbled. “I'm sorry the feeling should come back within an hour. I couldn't get you to let go any other way,” she said looking into his bright blue eyes. She gasped when he started tenderly kissing her neck where the marks were.

“Can I ask you a question? Do I remind you of anyone?” he asked her.

Hinata studied him for a moment. Should she tell him who she always thought he looked like? “Well, um you kind of always reminded me of the Fourth. You know the hair and smile. I know I never met the Fourth, but I've seen a lot of pictures of him. That's not why I fell in love with you though,” she said smiling at him.
