Disclaimer: 1- I do not own `Naruto' nor will I claim to. 2- I however do own Renaz and the other original characters you will see. 3- if you don't like reading fanfics with oc char then to bad- so sad don't read it. 4- this is my first fanfic, you flame and you die. 5- I started watching this anime in English so all of the jutsu's names and the likes are in English, if you don't like its your problem. 6- this fanfic takes place some time after the coronation of the fifth Hokage. 7- this fanfic is neither about Naruto nor any of his friends but about my oc char however I will but using the p.o.v. of several character where appropriate.

Simple, now lets get on with this fanfic.

Chapter 1: Unexpected Recovery

“Naruto, be careful.” Kakashi whispered the flak jacket wearing Jounin “you almost set off that trip wire” Naruto took on a look of someone who just committed a mortal sin. The number one hyperactive knuckle headed ninja of the Leaf Village shook off his look of dread of apprehension and put on his trade marked goofy smile looking at his silver-haired sensei.

“Just seeing if your skills are still sharp Kakashi-sensei.” Naruto in his orange and blue jumpsuit laughed it off “Its good not only to test us but you as well too right?”

Sasuke with a smirk replied to the blond-haired ninja “Stop making excuses Naruto. This is an A-ranked mission so stop goofing off and start focusing on the mission slacker.” To punctuate his point he stepped over a trip wire himself.

“That's right Naruto, you need to use your head more.” Sakura replied looking at the ninja in the black body suit all the while as her `Inner Sakura' commented “Cha-that's right you loser, try to be more like Sasuke-Cha.”

Naruto upon hearing the pink-haired kunoichi, of whom she was named for and his hidden crush, berate him and in usual fashion whined about it. “But I am, I am using my head Sakura.” and as if fate itself heard him, he pulled a trip wire that was placed at exactly head level to him triggering an alarm.

Naruto knowing what was coming braced himself for the verbal abuse that was about to ensue.

“NARUTO YOU IDIOT!” Both Sakura and Sasuke shouted. Naruto winced but before the abuse could continue a kunai was flung passed them.

“Stay sharp everyone.” Kakashi warned, “there are enemy ninjas here.” As he said this Sasuke ran by flashing through hand signs as he did then at the final sign he stopped.

“Fire style!” he shouted raising his left-hand ending in an ok sign by his mouth “Fire-ball Jutsu!” Breathing into the circle of his hand and out came a billowing fire blast that enveloped the rest of the hallway. Outcries of pain could be heard and charred flesh could be smelt.

“Nice job Sasuke.” Kakashi said still with a cautioned voice. “Now we need to find the basement, that is where the prison cells are said to be.” All there agreed and ran off.

Ten minutes went by and now sign of another enemy, unless you count that broken and battered bodies everywhere, the silence was deafening until Kakashi broke it

“It looks like sending in Gai's team in first was the right call” He noted pointing at all of the weapons lying about among the bodies, as well as the holes in the walls, and the disarmed traps.

As if summoned by Kakashi, Rock Lee and Might Gai both of whom had green full body suits with orange padding on their legs and arms with the older of the two wearing a similar flak jacket signifying his rank as Jounin, appear out of no where, knelling. Gai rose and gave Kakashi a thumbs up and a smile the latter giving off a twinkle-like sound.

“Well if it isn't my rival Kakashi” Gai announced as if it Kakashi that appeared before him. “Sorry Kakashi, you took so long that my squad and I went ahead and took care of all the ninja that were here, so there was really no need for you to show up.” All the while everyone else noticed that Kakashi was not even looking in the direction of Gai. “So we will finish up here and you and your team can go ahead and head back to the Leaf Village.”

Kakashi then turned back to Might Gai and spoke. “What, were you talking Gai?” this statement of negligence sent Gai into a cloud of disappointment, grief, and annoyance with him muttering about `Kakashi, acting cool, and other comments along these lines' all the while ignoring Gai's tirade Kakashi began speaking again. “Lee has your squad found the basement prison?” Lee shook his head his bowl cut hair flinging back and forth.

Lee was about to speak but Naruto cut him off “So `Bushy Brow' how are you going to find it anyway?”

Lee obviously annoyed about hearing his nickname was again about to speak but was once again cut off this time by his idol and squad leader. “We have Neji scouring the place with his Byakugan so it should not be long before he finds something.”

Again just as Lee was about to say something Tenten a member of Gai's team showed up. “Neji found something he thinks it's the prison mentioned in the report”

Kakashi spoke up and took charge “right lets go everyone.” As everyone left one noticed Rock Lee who had his hand against the wall in a cloud of his depression.

“Why wont anyone let me speak?” Lee muttered.

“Woo, that's a lot of people.” Naruto gawked at all the prisoners they had released. Once they had found the basement prison they had found about fifty people confined here.

“Any clue about who was running this place and why?” Kakashi asked Gai who just shook his head. “No clues or fragments anywhere?” Kakashi asked in a surprisingly shocked voice and Gai just shook his head again. “Well I guess we will have to wait to get these people back to the village to see if they can tell us what they know.” All who listened nodded in agreement except for Neji who was absent from the conversation until he called everyone over to a wall he was studying.

“Gai-sensei, Kakashi-sensei, the wall here is false.” Neji announced pointing to the wall he was studying.

Gai was about to smash the wall in but Kakashi stopped him before he could. “Can you tell us what is behind the wall.”

Neji nodded and turning back to the wall “Byakugan” as he said this the veins in his temples started to pop out from the side of his head and his eyes refocused. “It looks as if some kind of lab is behind here Kakashi-sensei.”

“See Gai if you went and destroyed the wall who knows what would have happen, there could be violent chemicals that are waiting for an excuse to explode in there.” The Copy Ninja spoke to Gai who had found tear in his jacket to be very interesting at the moment. As the silver-haired ninja was about to berate the taijutsu master Neji suddenly asked for their attention.

“It appears to me that there is a scientist still inside as well as another prisoner strapped to a table.” Neji spoke still peering through the wall.

“Well that settles that Kakashi.” And with that Might Gai in his usual flamboyant fashion struck a mighty blow to the wall with his fist breaking the whole wall done and severely scaring the scientist. “Stop your nefarious experimentation right this instant, for you have been unlucky enough to have the `Handsome Devil' of the Leaf village as your opponent.” As he rambled on he struck a dramatic pose that was not only ridiculous, but also hilarious for all that were not associated with him.

However the scientist was not laughing, he was bowing on the floor begging for his life, Gai wasn't buying it and he was about to pummel the guy if Kakashi hadn't intervened.

“Gai stop it!” Kakashi shouted. “Look closely at him, he's cut up, malnourished and if you look close you might recognize him.” Gai was about to protest that is if he hadn't seen that Kakashi had uncovered his Sharingan eye.

Gai turned back to the science and eyed him closely. It wasn't until after the scientist looked up, that Gai recognized him “Professor Kaid!?” Gai gasped. “What are you doing here?”

The Prof. upon hearing his name pushed his glasses up so he could see who was speaking to him. “… Might Gai is that you?” The young scientist could not believe his eyes you he took off his glasses and cleaned them with his lab coat, which because of its condition only left smudges on it. Replacing his glasses. “I can't believe it, it really is you.” He got down on his knees and started to thank various deities for there intervention.

Kakashi walked around to the table with the prisoner on it. A look of concern entered his face `I feel like I should know this person' He thought. “Hey Gai come over here for a second.” Gai told Kakashi that he would be there in a second seeing as he was having trouble getting the over thankful Kaid off of him.

“Something wrong Kakashi-sensei.” It was Sakura the usual cheerful girl said this with an unusually concerned voice. “Do you know him?”

Kakashi look at the pink-haired girl. “To tell you the truth Sakura, I'm not sure.” By this time Gai had gotten the weepy Prof. under control and went to see what the copy ninja wanted. “Gai does he look familiar to you?” Kakashi motioned to the young man on the table.

Gai's face also became thoughtful as the stared at the bound man on the table. “You know Kakashi now that you mention it he does look familiar but I can't place my finger on it.”

“I was just the same as you guys when I seen him.” Kakashi, Gai, and Sakura turned to find that it was Kaid talking, however Kakashi and Gai wore identical looks of confusion. “I know he's changed so much that I didn't know who he was until I looked at his chart.” Kaid told them this reaching for the chart. “Before I give this to you two, any guesses on who he is?”

They both shook their heads and at last the young scientist handed the chart to Kakashi. The copy ninja took the chart and looked it over until he found the name. “No way is that really him!?” exclaimed Kakashi handing Gai the chart. “Gai look at this you wont believe who this is.”

Gai's eyes widen as he seen the name on the chart then back at the bound man. “Your right I don't believe it.” Gai said to Kakashi then went to touch his face. “If this is him then the eyes will confirm it.” It was that Might Gai opened the eyelids of the prisoner. Recognition was sparked immediately and then Gai smiled. “Well Kakashi it looks as if we can take him off of the MIA list.”

Although it was hard to tell Kakashi was also smiling. “Renaz.”

The Next Day:

The two squads found themselves inside of the Hokage's tower waiting patiently for the appearance of the fifth Hokage so that they could give their mission report on yesterday's status of the hidden prison. However one blond-haired ninja was having difficulty waiting patiently as patients was not his virtue.

“Ahh were is grandma Tsunade, I want to hurry up and go get some ramen I'm starving already.” Naruto complained grabbing his stomach.

Sakura took on a look of disapproval. “Naruto, that's really disrespectful to Tsunade-sama.” The kunoichi speaking was getting nowhere however because of his stomach; he couldn't hear her, which of course had the obvious effect on Sakura. She clenched her right fist while grabbing him with her left and started to shake him. “Stop that stomach from making noise or before I beat you to a pulp you loser.”

At about this time two voices came drifting from the hallway. “Ah come on Shizune why can't you take care of this?” The first voice spoke with reluctance. “Because my lady, its your responsibility and your job.” The second one replied voice firm. “But its just a report, there is nothing important about that.” Groaned the first voice back, with the second voice responding. “Just do for my lady.” And with that the door was slid to the side and two women walked in both appearing to be in their twenties. What they walked into was a very angry Sakura throttling a very distraught Naruto.

Not noticing that they had an audience continued on until Sasuke coughed and the angry kunoichi looked up. Now aware of the fact that they were now in the presence of the Hokage, Sakura managed to blush and drop the bruised and battered Naruto onto the floor. “F-forgive Lady Tsunade.” A now embarrassed Sakura stammered and bowing to the blond woman.

The Hokage nodded her head to the pink-haired kunoichi, then took her place in front of everyone and sat. “Lets get this report over with, Kakashi Gai.” The Fifth spoke to the jounin present. “What was your missions and what was the status of each?”

Kakashi stepped forward and cleared his throat. “Five days ago the Leaf village received rumors on a hidden prison within our boarders.” Gai then spoke continuing the report. “So it was decided that we needed more intel to ether confirm or disprove the rumor as such a recon team was sent to investigate.” Kakashi then alternated with Gai and resumed the report. “Then late in the evening two days ago the team sent to investigate returned with confirmation that there was indeed a hidden prison with in our boarders.” Continuing with the alternating Gai spoke once again. “With confirmation in hand you gave the order that my squad, followed by Kakashi's squad, would infiltrate the facility deal with any resistance and rescue the prisoners.” They switched speaking once again. “Apparently they knew we were coming as they had prepared traps for us as well as destroyed any evidence as to who was running the place and why.” Reversing their speaking roles. “My team encountered rouge ninja and traps by the dozens with Tenten, Lee, and myself taking care of the enemies, while Neji using his Byakugan disarmed all traps we came to.” Kakashi then took over. “As such when my team followed up there was scant resistance and as such allowed us to concentrate our efforts on finding the prison that was hidden in the basement.” Gai then finished up the report. “What we found was forty-two prisoners in cell in the basement as well as a lab hidden behind a false wall that contained one Prof. Kaid, a missing Leaf village scientist, from his condition it is obvious that he was forced to work there, and Renaz, an MIA chunin.”

Tsunade sat there with a frown on her face. “I remember Kaid, he was famous for awhile for his research on favorable blood-line traits you don't think that is what that had him doing, do you?”

Kakashi nodded “Unfortunately that is just what he was doing why he was there for the past three years.” Kakashi looked straight at Tsunade then. “Apparently all the people gathered there had some kind of favorable trait that was desirable to whoever was running the place enough so that they captured Kaid three years ago to further their research.”

The Hokage sighed; knowing it would continue until those people who started this was subdued she turned to her assistant. “Shizune, this `Renaz' who is he and when did he go missing?” Tsunade's lack of knowledge of who Renaz was, irritated her there was so many Leaf village ninjas she had to know that she hasn't had time to go over half of the currently active ninja of the village much less those on the missing list.

Shizune went over to a file cabinet and combed though files until she found the file she was looking for. She started to read the file for all to hear “This is what the file contains my lady.” She cleared her throat and began:

“Name: Renaz, no last name.

Rank: Chunin

Listed in the bingo book as a class A threat to enemy ninja...”

At this all of the collective younger ninja gasped and questions were raised but were hushed by the older ninja by simple saying, “let her finish.”

Shizune thanked them and continued:

“…As a class A threat to enemy ninja with the title `The Blood Hunter' ninja.

Current age: twenty-one.

Height when last recorded: five foot four inches, although for current reports from the hospital he is now five feet ten inches now.

Weight when last recorded: one hundred ten pounds, although from current reports from the hospital, he is now one hundred forty pounds, which is from malnutrition.

Hair color: Brown, and likes to be kept long in tied back

Eye color and distinguishing factor: a metallic type of silver.”

Sakura interrupted at that point. “Gai-sensei is that why you checked his eyes before you would believe it was him?” Gai nodded. “Oh I'm sorry lady Shizune please continue.” Sakura apologized.

Shizune smiled at her and resumed:

“Missions completed with a team:

D-ranked: 373

C-ranked: 221

B-ranked: 107

A-ranked: 54…!”

This surprised all present not just the younger generation but the older ninjas as well. “That's unreal I've never heard of a chunin team that has done that many A-ranked missions.” It was Gai that spoke up in amazement.

Shizune then startled everyone when she gasped out in shock not at what Gai said but at what she reading. “Lady Tsunade that's not even the most shocking part!”

Tsunade had a frown on her face that turned into a scowl. “What do you mean Shizune?” Shizune just shook her head and handed the report to the fifth Hokage afterwards sitting down herself. “WHAT!” Tsunade shouted as well as standing at what she was reading. There is no way that this could be right.

“What is it grandma Tsunade?” It was obvious who was speaking to her but she could not respond to the blond-haired ninja.

The Hokage finished reading where her assistant left off:

“Solo missions completed among the numerous D though B ranked ones he has completed on his own 45 A-ranked all before he went missing from a two year mission at the age of thirteen.”

Neji spoke out this time. “That would put him in the equivalent to the rank of jounin would that not Gai-sensei?” Gai just nodded and Neji seemed to be thinking about something.

“Continuing on” Tsunade said looking back to the report:

“Squad Leader: Jade Oberan (Deceased).

Squad teammates: Momo Oberan and Karena Yuma.

Skill ratings: From one (least), to ten (most)

Taijutsu: eight

Ninjutsu: seven

Genjutsu: two

Tools: one

Blood traits: ten.”

Kakashi whistled. “I knew the kid was talented but didn't think that was his ratings, they must have been changed sense his days when he was an academy student.”

Sasuke looked at Kakashi suspiciously. “That's right Kakashi-sensei I've been meaning to ask you and Gai-sensei about that how do you two know this `Renaz' character anyway?”

Before Kakashi could answer his student Gai jump in for his chance to talk. “Well that is long story Sasuke my boy.” Gai proclaimed in usual style. “He was about four years old when he came here as uninteresting as that is, it is made unusual by the fact that he walked here all alone.”

Sakura always caring about the misfortune of others spoke. “The poor kid doesn't he have any family?”

Kakashi shook his head sadly. “That's only the start of it Sakura.” The young girl only stared at her sensei with a confused look. “He's an orphan, no family, no home, no nothing.” Kakashi stared at the wall for a second before continuing. “Because of his eyes the villagers all avoided him like the plague, so he remained an orphan with no home, in fact until he graduated from the academy he never spoke to anyone.”

Naruto felt sympathy rise in him. Renaz was just like him, yes the reason may be different but and the end they where the same. “When did enter the academy Kakashi-sensei?”

The Copy ninja looked over at the boy and knew what he was thinking. `He is seeing himself in Renaz' he thought. “To answer your question Naruto, he entered the academy at the age of five and he graduated at the age of six as a gennin.” Naruto as well as the rest of the gennin stood there staring. “I know surprising, but true, then at the age of eight he completed the chunin exams while the rest of his squad failed and remained at the gennin level.” No one could even speak, however at Tsunade's insistence he continued. “A year later is when the Nine-tailed fox attacked the village and against the fourths warning he proceeded to help in the defense of the village.” Everyone was silent; listening intently to his story caught up in the event. “While defending the village Renaz took a blow to the right eye thanks to the debris flung by one of the swipes of the fox and would have lost the eye if not for his Kekagenkai.”

“What would that be Kakashi, some kind of regeneration?” It was Shizune that spoke to everybody's surprise. “What, its for medical purpose.”

Kakashi nodded his head but it wasn't he that spoke. “Yes, Shizune his blood-line trait is capable of that but it is only one facet of it.” It was Professor Kaid that spoke. “Sorry, I couldn't help but to eavesdrop on your conversation, I was told to come here and greet the new Hokage when I felt I had the ability too and there is no time like the present.” Tsunade nodded in understanding and implored him to continue which he did. “Renaz has something that can best be described as `Malleable Blood.'” Everyone looked at him with blank faces except Kakashi and Gai. “This allows his blood to change and morph which in turn allows him to regenerate automatically but besides that I don't know what he is capable of all that I know of any other abilities he has is his bingo book name.” Kakashi and Gai both stood there with knowing looks. “That is what I was told to study but, all I could discover is the regeneration aspect of his Kekagenkai.”

Tsunade thought about the medical advantages that could be had if one could discover what makes his blood like that. Then caught the looks upon the faces of Kakashi and Gai. “Kakashi, Gai, do ether of you know about his other abilities if he has any?”

Kakashi and Gai look to each other as if to find out if they should speak or not. This decision however was to be delayed as an Anbu agent appeared before them.

“Excuse me Lady Hokage but I have some urgent news from the hospital.” The lizard masked Anbu announced.

End of Chapter 1

Well how did everybody like the so far, people who liked this will be blessed by any and all things that like me… if only I could remember what or who they were. Those who flame me, well who cares about you anyway. Well, R & R or punishment will come quick.
