Ryu eagerly awoke that morning and yelled out,"Yeah I can't believe I'm 16 oh boy this is great I hope dad made breakfast and his special cake!!"

Meanwhile his dad was out in the kitchen getting some things together for Ryu, his mom was out buying a cake, and even his sister Ariana was helping out by making him breakfast.

"I can't believe my son is 16 and aside from that one of the youngest Jonin in the village, man I'm glad I'm his dad!"

Mom came home, set down the cake, and sat down to eat with her special little boy, lovely daughter, and husband.

Meanwhile on the other side of the village all of Ryu's friends and instructors including Sarutobi-sensei were getting ready for Ryu's arrival.

Ok so Ryu is having his party and to be clear Sarutobi is the third hokage's name, and this party takes place at night so it took a while

Oh Ryu was happy as he sat down and ate his Ramen noodle pancakes, his dad's recipe, and decided this was the best birthday ever.

They finished and mom said,” lets take a walk through the village at 5 Ryu, ok?"

Ryu was excited so he of course said yes knowing something was up if they were going for a walk at 5.

Ryu got dressed in his training outfit, told his mom and dad he'd see them later and went off towards the hidden village of sand to hang and train with his buddies Temari, Kankuro, and strangely enough Garaa.

Around 3 he headed back to the village, but didn't get back until 4:30 and so had to rush to get some nicer clothes on, clean up, and go to his parents in the village square.

They walked straight to the party and wouldn't you know it Ryu was delighted to see all his friends, sensei's, and the Hokage's there to wish him a happy birthday.

"Thank you everyone for coming to my party," Ryu said smiling all over. Then he saw something amazing, the girl he had been crushing on since he was 12, Hamani, walked right up to him, took his hand, and said let's dance.

Suddenly music started to play, a slow song, and slowly he took her hand in his and they danced. He didn't know for how long but they danced and he had a blast. When all of a sudden the song he knew by heart came on, it was called "Never had dream come true" and he went ballistic and near the end of the song Ryu go0t his wish the girl he liked leaned in and they kissed. He had never felt happier.

Haoku smiled, isn't that cute Tach-san?"

"Yeah, I guess." He mumbled

"Fun hater." She said obviously disappointed as she disappear from the branch they sat on.

Time passed quickly and Haoku and Itachi the inevitable duo of the Akatsuki appeared in front of the house of Ryu Honou and his family. They were both dressed in their uniforms as they strode closer to the house Haoku turned left and Itachi to the right.

The girl Haoku saw was none other than Ryu's sister. "Nighty night, honey." She said holding a kunai about the sleeping girls throat.

Itachi jumped into a window on the eastern side of the house shocked to find only the boys father. "I'll take what I can get." He muttered slashing his throat with the same katana he had used to kill his own clan.

"Ryu, Ryu, sweetie get up." His mother's voice came softly waking him up with ease. "We need to leave, there's someone in the house."

"No, I'll stay and fight! Like a true ninja!" He cried

His mother nodded and watched as he ran out of the room.

Ryu paused in the small kitchen to find Haoku and Itachi standing there blood staining their weapons and clothes.

"You ... you killed them!?!" He stuttered "You killed my family?"

Itachi glared at him his eyes a dangerous blood red. "They were holding you back Ryu."

"I will kill you for this!" He yelled

Haoku stepped in front of Itachi and took the kunai in her side for his, her blood dripping down her cheek. "Ryu, fighting won't solve anything!" She yelled then looked up at him her midnight blue eyes pleading for him to give up, the eyes only a friend could posses.

That moment Ryu finally remembered her. "Ha-Haoku!?!" He stuttered.

She nodded as more tears cascaded down her cheeks.

"But you died, I saw you, I went to your funeral."

"It was all a lie Ryu."

"I hate, you, why didn't you tell me?"

"Because, she joined the Akatsuki." Itachi butted in

"No ........ if you truly are with the Akatsuki Haoku .... then you're no one I know, let alone a friend!" He yelled charging at her and her loved one.
