SAND AND RAIN

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or any characters from it.

I don't really count the test in the beginning of the Chunnin exam a part of the Chunnin exam so…

CHAPTER 7- THE THIRD EXAM BEGINS WITH A STAMPEDE!

“So… thought you could peek on me in the bath you pervert!” WHAM! Gaara now had a bump on his head. He sat there, moaning, with a small towel barely covering up anything. He looked up but she was gone.

`What! Where'd she go?!' Shukaku whined in his head. Gaara let it be and set out to find his clothes… wherever they are… oh boy…

“Naruto-kun! Hey! I'm here!” Akira yelled as she approached their meeting spot.

Naruto was sitting under the tree, sleeping. Akira looked on with kindness as she watched her friend in slumber. She slowly and silently crept over to his snoozing form and covered his mouth and pinched closed his nose.

He began to struggle to get air. Soon, his eyes shot open and he kicked whatever was suffocating him. As soon as he noticed whom he kicked he ran (crawled) over to the body.

“Ah! I'm—“ `Poof'. There was nothing there and soon after a shout could be heard.

“Shadow Clone Jutsu! Hidden Rain technique!” The next thing he knew, there were footsteps all around him. But the Akira clones were nowhere to be found.

Footsteps to the left.

No, right.

In front.

Behind!

He looked over his shoulder but was kicked in the side… hard. When he began to fall, some invisible force kicked him into the air.

`This is just like bushy-brow's taijutsu technique…' He knew this very well. He just needed to get on the ground before she hits him. But, on the down side, he didn't know where the hell she was! She was concealed by the jutsu she had put on her and her clones. He had to find a way to undo it…

She smirked. `He thinks it's safer on the ground…' She knew that it was not though. She had set a water jutsu twenty yards wide and ten feet deep on the land right below them. She disguised it as dirt so he couldn't tell.

`But soon the air won't be safe either.' Once she unleashed the jutsu that was only for real battles (or is it…) on this poor unsuspecting boy… it would be all over.

“Rain Charm!” Naruto looked shocked. Another jutsu? She wasn't going easy on him was she? “Ten thousand laughs!” He became confused.

`Eh?!' Akira and three other clones appeared in the air with him. They were all floating up… but then they stopped. They started going down.

They were falling from a hundred feet in the air!

`Now's the time!' She and her clones rushed at him with their arms forward and mysterious smirks on their faces. Once their hands reached his body, the fingers started moving quickly. It didn't really hurt. Nor did it feel good. It was mire of a tingling feeling…

“*Snicker*…”

“Heh…”

“Heh Heh…”

“Ahahahaha! Hahaha!” She was tickling him! Was this even a jutsu? Or was she planning an attack? Maybe she was trying to let him enjoy his last few seconded before plummeting to his death? What ever it was… it made his stomach hurt.

3…

1…

Naruto closed his eyes hoping he wouldn't die.

“Hey Naruto!”

Naruto recognized that voice… It was Iruka-sensei! He tried to say hello,

“Haha… He-hey, Ir… Hahahaha… IrukHa! S-hahahahahaaaa! (He's trying to say `Hey Iruka-sensei' for all of you who don't read Ha-inese!!) Iruka scratched his head. And it was then he noticed that his student was plummeting to the ground while a girl tickled him, making him laugh uncontrollably.

“Naruto! Look out! You're about to--!”

KA-SPLOOSH!!!!!!!

“…Never mind…” Iruka turned and walked away, not knowing what to say about this situation.

Naruto and Akira hit the water just as she allowed Naruto to breath again. He was looking at her as though she was crazy and she only smiled and pulled him to the top along with herself.

As she climbed out, Naruto bobbed to the top taking a deep breath of fresh air. She stood up and tossed the wet hair out of her face.

She made a hand sign. “Now the real training begins. Release Jutsu!” the water began to return to dirt, Naruto stuck in it as well. He struggled.

“Hey! What gives! I'm stuck!” She smirked.

“Get out of the ground and I'll buy you whatever you want for dinner.” His eyes lit up. “But my offer doesn't last for much longer.” She looked at the setting sun and then Naruto. “It ends when the sun goes behind the mountains, at nightfall, so you'd better hurry.” He struggled once again, not wanting to lose an all the ramen you could eat in a lifetime offer. He stopped.

“What's the point of this anyway?!”

“Tic-Tock Naruto-kun.”

He started again, squirming and struggling to get out before nightfall. He stopped after a while and thought…

Nightfall…

He began moving his feet up and down and noticed that the soil that was deeper into the ground was softer than the dirt on top.

Night-…

FALL!!!!

“That's it!!” He yelled and began moving his feet like he was shoveling the ground away. Once he got a gap, it became too easy. The dirt was so spaced out that it fell off the sides on it's own. All he had to do now was move his body and he would be free! `Ramen! Ramen! Ramen! Ramen!!!' that's all that was going through his head at the moment. His prize.

Akira looked on with satisfaction. So he had gotten it after all. This is exactly what her sensei did to her. Although, she was much younger than Naruto when she figured it out.

Soon, Naruto was free and was treated to ramen, just as she promised. Though, it did put a giant hole in her wallet, she was still happy that Naruto realized what she was trying to teach him. But he might have not gotten what it really means, he got the just of it at least.

On their way back, Naruto had his arms behind his head in the usual fashion and Akira was looking at her wallet, thinking of how much money she had spent on one boy. Man he could eat! Naruto interrupted her thoughts.

“So, what was that training for anyway?” She shrugged.

“It could come in handy. You never know.” She smiled as they approached Naruto's house. “You really should get some rest. You've got a long day ahead of you, Naruto-kun.” She hugged him and made her way back to Gaara's.

“Yo… Gaara!” She knew that he didn't sleep so there was no problem with her yelling. It was around nine so she went to take a bath.

`three baths in one day… this has to be a record!' She thought with a sigh as she climbed in the heated water in the tub. She drifted to sleep in the water.

She woke up bright and early the next day, excited at the beginning of the final part of the chunnin exam. Though, she had a bad feeling about something… oh well! She started off to the arena where the fights would be held.

“Ahhhhhhh!!” She stopped dead in her tracks. And heard something behind her… it sounded like… A Stampede! She turned and saw Naruto being chased by a bunch of charging bulls screaming his head off.

And guess where she was… yep, right in the middle of their path.

“Naruto-kun!!!!??” What in the world???

As he reached her, he grabbed her hand and pulled her with him.

“Less talky,… more running!” She agreed that in this situation, there was no time for explanations.

And so, they ran down the streets of Konoha, being chased by rampaging bulls, and heading towards the arena. Hoping Naruto isn't too late…

“Where is he… Sasuke-kun too. It's not like them to be late…” Sakura complained drawing the unneeded attention of Ino, her long time friend and rival.

“They'll be here, Sakura, I'm sure of it.” Ino gave her a reassuring smile but Sakura only looked at her sadly.

`Sasuke-kun…'

“AHHHHH! GET OUT OF OUR WAY!!!!” Akira and Naruto have been running from these things for what seemed like forever. When the arena finally came into view they were both relieved and hopeful that the bulls would leave them alone.

Some of them gave up but quite a few of them kept chasing them.

One of the arena guards stepped in front of them trying to tell them it was too late to enter they just yelled at him and pushed him and the doors out of their paths.

Luckily the bulls stopped at the end of the stairs. Unluckily, Naruto had accidentally tripped Akira and she ran into someone in the line of associates in the middle of the battlefield. The one she runs into… Gaara, who was now fortunately out of his girl form.

She knocked him down, landing on him herself. She looked at his face and ge glared at her. She smiled nervously.

“H-hey Gaara-kun…”
